  1. No salvage drop for me as a tier 4 (market access, supposedly) after roughly 12 x8 missions, clearing most, mostly solo.
  2. It isn't anywhere near as wide as SC or LR. I'm not even sure it's as wide as Foot Stomp (15 feet), although it probably is.
  3. I've tried to sift the lists for that information, but haven't been able to understand so far.

Looking at this topic, I'm seeing the very first tier have "Limited Drops (Only small inspirations, no salvage, no recipes)".

Beyond that point, the following references to drops that I can see are:

    TIER 4
    Earn Reward Merits
    Earn Vanguard Merits
    Medium Inspirations Drop

    TIER 8
    Large Inspiration Drops

However, there's also "Lifetime access to the Invention System" at tier 8. Does that mean tier 8 premiums can craft common IOs and trade for set IOs either on the market or with reward merits, but won't get any salvage or recipes as drops?

Even the VIP tier doesn't make mention of salvage/recipe drops, so I'm a bit confused. If anyone has a definite answer on this, or know from experience, it would be much appreciated, thanks.
  4. Mission is irrelevant, unless one uses a weird one with less spawns. Standard ambush farm => 8 Hard spawns (2 initial spawns + 6 ambushes, capped by AE).

    DB Question

Running on pickup groups all the time, I never felt like it was slow. Alternate builds with 1KC and Typhoon always felt slower - imho these powers require foes to be in close range to be efficient, and on the teams I'm on it just doesn't happen often enough. Add to that there's often other sources of AoE damage, and it's never been worth the trouble for me.

On the other hand, there's always room for ST damage on bosses, EBs and AVs, and even the occasional specific target you want to take down ASAP (surgeons, comm officers, sappers, radiologists, the list goes on).

That being said, I tend to believe players undervalue ST damage and overvalue AoE damage, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

    4. You need to use a hero designer, and use it well... mid's is the obvious choice.
    5. You need to know what to build for (generally, defense and recharge).
    6. You know to know how to achieve high levels of those things in your build.
    7. You need to play your toon up to level 50.

    [/ QUOTE ]

When I started soloing AVs (without insps, mind you... saying it before anyone else flips out), none of these statements were true about me.

I believe it's possible to do without 2., 3. and 9. too, if you're willing to use inspirations and temp powers.

So, basically, I agree with "you have to believe it's possible" ; and I have to thank Werner and you for that.
  7. Ah, so if someone's reply to the last poster doesn't make sense, it must mean he's talking to you specifically, because you're so important and all.

... No, I'm afraid it's just the Quick Reply feature. I guess you were too busy thinking of witty patronizing comebacks to learn about that.

Let's get the whole deal out of the way, since you seem to want to read any of my comments like it's about you :

First, you suggest you speak for the whole scrapper forum ("When the scrapper forum refers to AV soloing we tend to carry the underlying message of No Temps/Insps."), which is what I was answering to, then you claim you're only talking about shivans (jumping from "using any temp" to "omg shivans!!" is a big leap, a leap you'll notice I never made here), then you suggest I listen to my own advice (... I never gave any), and finally we're here with this patronizing tone which is rather out of place coming from someone who makes about as much sense as a monkey on crack.

Look, if my "made up rules are made up rules" comment have hurt your feelings, I'm sorry, but you're not really going to convince me of anything by replying with random unrelated things. You've only succeeded in making me mildly irritated - I'm the one who doesn't get it ? Stuff it, buddy. You haven't even understood the simple point I made, and you're assuming I'm talking to or about you when I'm not.

For the record, since you seem so focused on that, I don't care if you count shivans as "entities" or whatever fancy word lets you justify a twisted definition of AV soloing.

I still stand by my definition : one character fighting one archvillain = archvillain soloing.

... You'd think such a statement would be obvious. I can't believe I have to argue for it.

Last I checked, shivans aren't characters ; if they are, please let me know how to unlock the AT, it's not showing on my screen.

You might want to listen to that imaginary advice I supposedly gave according to you, whatever it is. Cherish it too, because I won't be wasting any more of my time losing brain cells reading your posts.

There's so much power difference between builds, it seems quite silly to me to use some arbitrary rules to define what is and isn't considered an accomplishment.

I give up on you, you're just not listening.

The part you quoted (and, in fact, the whole post) had nothing to do with you or anything you posted.
  9. I'd go with Assault/Tactics instead of Medicine, the tohit buff is better than LBE's defense debuff, doesn't need to hit and will help the whole team.
  10. There's so much power difference between builds, it seems quite silly to me to use some arbitrary rules to define what is and isn't considered an accomplishment.

An Ill/Rad controller soloing Lord Recluse without insps or temps is less impressive than an Elec/Dev blaster taking out any AV with insps and temps, IMHO.

When the scrapper forum refers to AV soloing we tend to carry the underlying message of No Temps/Insps.

Having a shivan or HVAS means you're not solo'ing, you're duo'ing. Using Temps or Insps, hell, almost anyone can probably solo an AV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Last time I've seen this debate, many had different opinions. You can stick your fingers in your ears and pretend yours is the only right one. Meanwhile, I'll stick with the dictionary definition of the words unless "no insps / temps" is specifically mentioned.
  12. One character against one archvillain = AV soloing.

Anyone is free to make up their own imaginary rules, but you shouldn't expect everyone to play that way.
  13. I think it's more common than you'd think. Most of my friends have soloed AVs ; most don't like doing it, either, so they do it once in a while and stop there.
