One thing I kinda wish was that these boosters (with I14 out) held some new "themed" maps (say 2 or 3) for use in MA, that would be nice as far as I am concerned.

Just got myself a nice new graphic card and everything went fine until I started CoH first I had a poor frame rate, but doing some minor tweaking to the settings on the card (as adviced in this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....0#Post10532683) frame rate cleared right up.
But now I am crashing after a few minutes of play, what I done to try and fix this was uninstall and reinstalled the graphic driver and reinstall CoH.
The error in question looks like this (two samples):
Sample 1:
Assertion failed

Seeing as dxdiag is none to popular on the US forum for posting here I used the suggested CoH Helper for the info:

Not that it matters much but titles such as "most powerful" etc in the comic genre tend to be given rather "easily" and often a more powerful individual turns up at some point or another.

umm ok the problem with "beyond mortal" characters have already been mentioned, they lack "human" motivation to be there, there is nothing they can't do or practically so anyway, there is little to learn. In the end I have my own little pet theory as to why these characters don't work well in most rp settings. It's because they act like humans with a god complex.
Seriously gods don't need to boost about their powers they have them, probably for ages showing off to something as brief as a mortal isn't something there is much point to. I guess the real deal is for these to be aloof and distant, their motivations must be beyond what we can understand since they have no concern we can really deal with understand or advice on "knowingly".
I played a few of these in the past (one in CoX, but not in the public rp community). Generally if they are loud, intrusive etc. they break the frame of the RP game, again this has been summarized well already (Dante you are so good with words). To me the success of an immortal is for them to be a bit distant completely incomprehensible, distant and indirectly hint of their nature but making no claim. They must have the "player control" not to meddle directly in the affairs of mortals. These gods may walk among us but they don't interfere on a regular basis for whatever reason.
A small quote from "Babylon 5" illustrates the point of "gods" nicely to me.
[...G'Kar carefully picks up the ant.]
G'Kar: I have just picked it up on the tip of my glove. If I put it down again and it asks another ant, "What was that?", how would it explain? There are things in the universe billions of years older than either of our races. They are vast, timeless. And if they are aware of us at all, it is as little more than antsÂ…and we have as much chance of communicating with them as an ant has with us. We know. We've tried. And we've learned we can either stay out from underfoot, or be stepped on.

Basically I think this is worth considering when talking about how to play a god. A last quote from Sherrilyn's books (Dark Hunter serie)
"Just because you can doesn't mean you should. - Acheron Parthenopaeus"

To end my rambling... you didn't godmode, you were just obnoxious and annoying (both). Sorry but the kind of immortals displayed in the text is just tiring to read about, no offense. -
Well it is sad news indeed to lose such great people, I know they have been a aprt of making this community a much better place
I guess all I can say is I am sure you will be as appreciated when you ge elsewhere as you were here.
Have fun Rockjaw, Aero_ and Kerensky -
I can pretty much add that the few times I been at chum no one (who wasn't long term afk) has been around, not that I am the best at showing up every time.
-
I am sure a lot of people can do better but here is my attempt at making something shivan like... not the best but I tried to get some of the essence... but yes auras would definitely be an improvement.

Well personally the moral compass is a nice idea, I like being able to choice a nicer or more naughty option then currently, especially when playing villain side.

I tried to make up my Pocket D RP character Ice Virus, but my mastery of M&M is at best poor so forgive any errors and miscalculations etc. Oh and thanks to Zortel who's post I copied as frame work for my own, I hope you can forgive that little theft
For the record she is a level 30 corruptor (Ice/Traps) - Power pool: Flight, Fitness.
Ice Virus (Yes this IS her name)
Size: Medium
Power Level: 12
Height: 5'2'' Weight: 135 lbs
Hair Colour: Varied usually dark colours Colour: Bright Blue, Bright Red or Bright Green, no matter colour her eyes are solid and glowing.
Ethnicity: Cyborg Age: 3 (Conscious)
Identity: Public
Group Affiliation: None.
Base of Operations: Sharkshead Isle
Strength: 10 (+0)
Dexterity: 16 (+3)
Constitution: 13 (+1)
Intelligence: 18 (+4)
Wisdom: 9 (-1)
Charisma: 16 (+3)
[ QUOTE ]
Ice virus is gifted with enhanced coordination ability and a superior reasoning through her cybernetic nature, however Ice Virus isn't the most attentive person and lacks somewhat in common sense. She doesn't possess superior training rather her slightly above average endurance comes from the artificial tissue. Ice Virus has a somewhat stronger then normal personality and far from always for the better, generally she is good at invoking a reaction from those around her.

Toughness: +9 (+8 base / +1 con)
Fortitude: +6 (+5 base / +1 con)
Reflex: +8 (+5 base / +3 dex)
Will: +5 (+6 base / -1 wis)
[ QUOTE ]
Combat training have never been part of her life, but she posses some basic combat procedures in her memory giving her a limited ability to defend or attack, they have been improved to a degree through her life in the rogue isles but she is not a major combatant by any means.

[ QUOTE ]
Build in routines and procedures makes her able to work with technological advanced devices and she is a wiz at dealing with computers again a present of her nature, she has also have a extensive build in archive dealing with legal matters. her natural ability to partly change her appearance give her an excellent ability to disguise herself further enhanced by training and programming, a bit mischievous by nature has provided her a gift for so called "slight of hand" tricks pocket items and the like without people spotting her as well as running various other con tricks through misdirection, lying or sweet talking. Finally Ice is a natural when it comes to gymnastic and acrobatics further enhanced by her computer half, one of the few times she is truly graceful, the next moment she might attempt to sneak away just to fall over the only rock within sight.

Redirect, Assessment, Environmental Adaption (cold), Instant up, Inventor, Taunt, Eidetic Memory, Jack-of-all-trade.
[ QUOTE ]
Build to function in a polar environment cold has little effect on her and a perfect memory through her computer gives her ability to remember selective knowledge without flaw and enables her to take on any task regardless if she has the required training or not, As a none combat cyborg her ability to [censored] her opponent or appear a non essential target is alpha and omega in the living conditions of the rogue isles.

Morph 3 (Action: Full, Dur: Continuous, Limited (1pp))
- ice virus is able to change her skin to any color, but it is never shaded and always appear artificial, she is also able to change her hair style, forgive or length at will as well as change the LED lit circuitry under her skin (these to Bright Rd, Blue or Green and includes the eyes).
Force Field Generator 10 (Action: Full, Area: 50 feet, Selective, Range: personal, Dur: 20 min).
- Destructible: Toughness 10
- Ice Virus is able to create a force field generator to protect her and her allies, the generator includes a simple AI with and Friend and Foe routine. The Drone follows close behind her till it falls apart as the nanites from Ice Virus blood dies and the structure falls apart.
Create Matter 5 (Range: Touch, Duration 1 hour, Precise, Subtle, Equipment (50point), Duration: 1 hour)
- Able to create temporal constructs with the nanites that flows through her blood, she is never without the right tool for a job, while the devices cannot be massive or large, they are able to duplicate almost anything including mechanical devices (say a lighter, explosives (land mines or plastic explosives for example) or whatever her heart desire, while there is a limit to how much at once and what this is the core of her power giving her a wide range of options.
Blast - Ice 6 (Range 60 feet)
- The core of her offensive ability, a powerful blast of cold. The power works by creative a strong force field in which all thermal and kinetic energy is drained from inside the globe and stored in the field's hind potion, the globe is then projected towards the target the force field shatters on impact super cooling the target crystalizing the surface, the stored energy is then released as kinetic energy. These attacks are quite draining for Ice Virus, but not enough to hamper her except in long fights.
Device 3 - Rocket Boots (Hard to loose, fly 500 mph)
- Bought and paid for, Ice Virus had a local doctor (Doctor Buzzsaw) to create her a pair of rocket boots enabling her to fly across the sky.
Complication: Enemy: Ice Virus escaped from her "captivity" from her creators, they surely want her back.
Complication: Infame: Escaping from her captives caused several of the scientists to end up dead who killed them? the authorities says Ice Virus did and she doesn't deny or confirm.
Complication: Prejudice: Ice Virus is strange at best, her skin completely replaced, her manners a little off and other signs of her cybernetic nature puts more then a few off.
Complication: Temper: Ice Virus is not the most patient of people when it comes to others especially those interfering, interfering can include saying hi to those she is talking to at the moment. While she isn't violent she lash out verbally and often completely refuse to talk to either person until she has cooled down. But her temper also stretches to those who makes jabs at her nature or makes apparent (to her) derogating comments like calling her doll (a doll is a mindless robot). -

- new personal item: an NPC version of your character that you can place in your SG base that only appears there when your character isn't online. There could be several different emote types you could select for your NPC character to be doing (sat down, eating/drinking, reading newspaper, etc). This would bring a little life to SG bases, as you could see the character representations of the offline characters/members in the base (though I guess it could get crowded in larger SGs).

^^^ I want this! really sounds awesome -
I would personally suggest a new patron could be Arbiter Daos he is afterall closely tied to the existing and the destined thingy.
-
erm by responding you sorta didn't ignore him you know.

Well I am more then willing to answer a few questions, I personally am not one of the hardcore rp'ers here but if they need an opinion I am more then willing to give it.

I guess 20+ groups are hard to find, I rarely team with someone my level in the 20+ range... and everytime I get a team invite it is for a strike force which I really don't give a darn about lately heh.
-
Darmash you are not alone with the SS/DA combo it rules completely as far as I am concerned.
-
Well I originally made a SS/DA brute and I still simply love this combo, except I feel it is very end heavy... but I guess all brutes suffer from that.
-
I find that the hold of vines is just long enough to kill the alpha strike (if you can hit!) thus allowing your entire team to serious cut down in the mob population before they can strike.
-
It is definately not the dominator's strength that is the problem, I guess they are more dominating then damaging and that keeps some folks away. Being a dominator to me at least is a bit slow when soloing and you don't seem to be as busy in combats as everyone else when in groups. With all that said I love my dominator and laugh everytime my team mates tell me that dominators are too strong and will be the first thing to be nerfed.
-
indeed, they do look like they are having fun, and it seems the advert pokes a bit of fun at the game as well, for example "the demon fluffy".
