i don't really have much to add, but i just have to chime in that i completely agree with the OP.
Going Rogue is amazing and well worth the wait. I fully believe that the design and impact it brings to the Superhero MMO genre easily deserves to stand alongside CoH and CoV.
it's hard to put into words, but GR is simply the most immersive and challenging (both game and story wise) CoH has ever been for me.
kudos, devs! well done, Paragon Studios! i hope to enjoy your fine games for years to come! -
hey team. as always, i'm trying to rearrange things so i can try and stay at least somewhat active.
so, again, i may only be able to show up sporadically, and now not until 9pm at the earliest (these days i can only play after 9pm on weeknights). so certainly press on without me, but if i can join you guys i will pop in when i'm available.
'fraid it's the best i can do at this time.
and yeah, Praetoria is awesome. =) lvls 1-20 have always been my favorite, so GR is all gold for me. =)
i made three new characters for it so far:
KM/EA Stalker, Mandarin Pao, Chi master! (Loyalist Responsibility)
Bots/Traps MM, the heroic and uppity Brainchilde! (Resistance Warden)
DP/Rad Corr, Theoria, who can bless and curse as she battles to fulfill the visions given to her by God. (Resistance Crusader)
i need to make a Loyalist Powers character, probably a dom or controller, not sure yet. Plant/Earth or Elec/Storm.
*edit* what level is the team now? -
thanks for all the information and suggestions!
right now i think Rad is in the lead, as i've already played Sonic and don't feel like shielding people with this char.
thanks, this should be interesting! -
Eyebeams bigger, like Cyclops as opposed to Superman.
Dual Pistols redraw to be looked at and hopefully eliminated or at least reduced where possible and thematically appropriate (does Kinetics really require my hands to be empty with every cast?)
Broadsword. Right now it's a snoozefest.
This game also needs more mystic circles. =) Alternate anims, or a new control set, or something, but moarplzthx. =) -
hi there!
i tried playing a DP/Kin Corr, and while I generally like it, the constant need to redraw my pistols is a PITA and sucking the fun out of it for me.
can anyone help me out by letting me know of some DP compliments that WON'T force me to redraw my pistols?
it can be for any of the ATs with DP.
thanks! -
Hey guys,
Well it was fun while it lasted but real life is picking up again and I'm afraid I don't have the room for CoH. =/
Much to my dismay as I was very much looking forward to Going Rogue.
Ah well. Knockback some bad guys for me!
Take care! My subscription runs out at the end of the month, so I can post for a little longer, but I won't be in game at all. -
-
Quote:Starcraft doesn't have a monthly fee. You just buy the game. All multiplayer functions are free.Nah , just wondering . Do you pay for that game also each month ? I'm debating whether to get DC Online but I enjoy COH so much , I doubt I would play it as much .
I'm excited to see what DCUO has to offer, but I'm skeptical. CO was such a disappointment. It's most likely CoH for me until TOR comes out. -

Hey guys, looks like I'll still be lvl 24 come weds. Been playing a lotta starcraft
-
sure, are you aiming for a particular story arc?
also, i hope to be lvl 26 by next session. i *need* that endurance draining power.
hey, are any of you guys playing Starcraft 2 at all? It's a great game. i like it so much i'm worried it might actually overtake CoH. -
thanks for the replies guys. i've never done any of the soft capping stuff, or used set IOs. i've only used normal IOs.
i don't really know how that system works. so two things:
1) is there a good guide that explains that system, including the level differences of the set IOs?
2) is EA still viable/effective/pleasant without set bonuses?
this issue becomes a little more complicated since i plan to use it with Kinetic Melee, a currently unknown set. so i cannot provide any useful info about my primary. -
I pretty much never see Energy Aura anywhere ever.
Is that just me, or is the set simply that terrible that it should be avoided like the plague?
Can anyone offer any insight and thoughts on the set? What are its pros/cons, unique qualities.
It sounds like a fun concept, but when I look it over it does look like a pretty basic Defense based set.
Should I just forget about it and roll Willpower instead?
Any feedback would be most appreciated.
Thanks! -
i'm planning on being there!
see you in the City! -
we'd hate to lose ya, phil!
feel better! -

would LOVE to do Posi. =)
hey, what did you guys do the week prior when i was out? any story arcs?
also, Corva very kindly customized some fonts for me that are AWESOME, comic-y and easy to read. =) let me know if you want copies. =) -

i'd be ok with that. i'm in the middle of packing up my apartment (moving on Sunday) and today is my birthday. =)

Quote:yeah corva, that's a great idea! CoH could really use more full featured and free comic fonts that will work for the game.Hey, Nicodemus,
If that's the case, just let me know. I have font editing software and have already created a handful of fonts for myself, for other applications (not the game), and as I mentioned before, I used it to tweak the Rockwell font to differentiate the numeral "1" from lower-case letter "L" for clarity. I think I could very easily modify an existing font if you needed it, whether it be adding more glyphs/characters, modifying particular characters themselves, changing obliqueness (slant) or weight
Oh, sorry for the confusion. By "titles", I was referring to power names on the character creation screen. That font is Red Circle (or one of its variants, e.g., italic).
I've always wanted to try out Komika Text, but the capital I and lowercase L look the same (and the One is a bit close as well), so it's a no go.
http://www.dafont.com/komika-text.font
Do you think you could do something with that font? I would love it in regular and Bold if possible, then I could probably replace Comic Sans.
thanks so much for the offer! -
Quote:nah, i like Comic Sans just fine. =) i actually learned about the ability to do this from an anti-comic sans thread.Comic Sans?? Ick. Comic Sans is such an awkward and clumsily styled font. Have you tried any of the free comic-style fonts out there on the web? I use BadaBOOM in place of the Red Circle font (Red Circle is the titles font and is also used for damage numbers in combat), and a slightly tweaked version of Rockwell (this font) to make the numeral 1 different from the lower case "L" (in the Rockwell font, they are identical but separate glyphs).
i have no interest in typography wars and have yet to find another free alternative that i find to be as pleasing as Comic Sans.
of course, everyone is free to use whatever font they like once they know how to do it.
so the damage numbers are: RedCircl
is that right? is that the filename? just so i can replace it. and what do you mean by "titles font?" what titles? like the character titles, "Amazing, Incredible," those?
thanks for the BADABOOM recommendation! it goes nicely! if you have any other recs i'd love to hear em. most of the fonts don't seem to have everything i need or aren't fun enough. -
Custom Fonts Revisted
Right, I forgot to update about the fonts.
So the three fonts used are:
mont_demibold (i think this is for general txt)
mont_hvbold (i think this is for targetting)
verdana (i think this is for chat bubbles)
redcircl (for damage numbers and various headings)
so i replaced those four with:
Comick Book
Comic Sans Bold
Comic Sans Bold
Badaboom
in the data folder, make a new folder called fonts. in the fonts folder, just put in whatever fonts you want and rename them to the fonts that the game is looking for.
so, i renamed comick book to mont_demibold and put it in the folder and the game uses that font instead.
very fun! -
thanks, i'm trying Xpadder but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. it should work, but for some reason i can't get it to do anything
*edit* got it, i needed to run it as administrator.
sweet! thanks frost! 10 bux was a better deal than 26 and the hassle of switching controllers all the time!
wooo! gamepad-y goodness! =)
thanks for your opinion, je, but i've been rocking the gamepad since 04 and i'm not only awesome, but no one notices or cares. =)
it's great if you've got a good system down to make it work.
peace!
