I've probably spent around $100 extra since launch. However, I've spent nothing lately and likely will spend nothing more over the next few months since Bio Armor, Beast Mastery, Nature Affinity are all unattractive, as is the post-apocalyptic bundle.
If I can get something liek Sci-fi, Imperial Dynasty and so on...extremely intricate costumes, I'll spend again. -
Quote:Yeah, I have a Fire Tanker in Rikti War Zone...and he has a mission there to collect Kora Fruit (don't ask...) so we can all use mission teleporter to get there.I wouldnt say its long gone, I still have a character logged in paragon dance party on justice.
The yellow loading zone screen still pops up when i choose the character. Just wish i knew how to get ppl in the same zone.
The Rikti there still drop loot/purples by the way.
Wayback Machine eh?
Hmm...most of my good memories are of massive exploits:
Architect Exploits (all fixed):
Mastermind bug, you got your pets outside, were maled to 5 or 6 and made 100,000,000 per run and about 4-5 levels too.
Mitos, just stood there and let you punch them.
Arachnobombs, just run around and tag them, they blow up and you get 2-3 levels per run.
Rikti Portals, kinda ho-hum but still nice.
Rikti Monkeys, they were underlings out of a level range and gave oodles of XP.
Other shenanigans:
Failing mission 1 of Katie TF, setting speed records or trying to (We got a 13 minute one once with 4 Fire/Rads, my Mind/Bubble (built for stealthing) and 3 /Colds.
Aforementioned Sewer Trial exploit, was handy when recipes came out.
SpeEdens, was a map glitch in the first wall that you could avoid, just tp everyone to the end and finish in 8-10 minutes for a recipe
Map glitch in States Task Force, you could go under the Aeon City map, assemble and fight the AVs without retribution.
Map glitch in Hive, could go under and fire on Hamidon with impunity.
Reportedly some maps gave the same rare salvage every run, Arachnos maps.
Recipe rolls triple or multiple rewarding off one click at Merit vendors.
Auction house glitch with IOs, say you had a Miracle proc in a slot, if you multi-clicked "Get" you could find yourself getting four or five back because of server lag.
SHO/HO exploit, you finished RSF and left window up, went to Warburg and clicked to get a 52. Heroside you asked a level 3 to mal you and clicked to get a 52-53.
Veng stacking outside of Arena before matches.
Using teleport to get inside Tiki Room in Pocket D.
Using Fly to go over war walls and into University to get the Inventor badge before that was even live.
TP Foe on Mitos during Master LGTF runs.
Solo spawning maps for TF, 1 person spawn for LRSF/STF for the win.
Snake Egg farm in Mercy and Psypunk totally losing in on the Beta forums when it got reported, lolz.
Contact missions infinite rewarding if you were in Cathedral of Pain mode, basically you needed to be in a sg, the CoP suspended all active contacts and so if you had a delivery, it would keep rewarding FOREVER, giving you infinite money.
Some goof getting Admin mode and asking people for their passwords. -
Quote:It's all good in the hood, just lrn2red and saw you could edit widgets on the front page to include videos.Oh look a Tutorial for posting Guild Portal videos.
This is apparently for the use of Youtube videos, I hate Guild Portal so I will not try this myself. Hope it works out.
I hate Guild Portal.
Also, tcfvpvp.guildportal.com if you all want to ally/shoutbox spam/etc. -
Penance brough Earth/Emps in early matches.
Soul of Earth can't be bet back in the day on his Earth/Emp
DONT TALK TO ME LIKE YOU KNOW ME! Soul of Earth
"Johnny Priest only beat me cuz hes an overpowered ice blaster, and he used level 3 breakfreeee - soul of earth
Reverse Cowgirl Earth/Kin
Many Earth/Fire Doms wrecked many groups in recent leagues...despite some Earth powers being banned. I'm sure people are WARE-y of them now at least. -
Got my SJ/Fire Aura Brute to 41 today, he is AMAZINGLY fun, hoping GLoom Dark Oblit is better than Fire Blast/Fireball, was uneasy on that because of Fiery Embrace. We'll see how it works out but he's a death machine as is so...

So pretty offtopic but does anyone know how to embed music (and not the video) from youtube onto a guildportal frontpage?
I know it's under Pages&COntent/Widgets then Home - PageProperties then there's a spot for a link, but pasting the YT isn't working.
Thanks -
My Fire/Energy Dom is crazy...Power Boosted Flashfires, massive damage from the melee/range, a total end hog though.
My Mind/Bubbles was painful to solo but is absolutely awesome on teams. Confuse, Mass Confuse, Power Boosted holds and bubbles...
DP/Traps was fun, not a powerhouse though. -
I expect PvP IOs to be brisk prior to the first weekend of September, new league and all.
Quote:So, I think there were too many of us thinking the same thing. I saw purples moving relatively briskly prior to dxp weekend, and I agree, they are down. (I'd say averages are down ~25m from 2 weeks ago, but things were maybe +25 the week before dxp)
Anyhow, so I had a larger than normal stash expecting a spike myself. (~70 or so on hand) -

Unnecessary adjectives, all. Maybe it's the journalist in me.
I direct you to the study on the use of Blasphemy in Lovecraftiana, by Robert M. Price at http://crypt-of-cthulhu.com/lovecraftsblasphemy.htm .
Simply put, Lovecraft was adressing extra-spatial entities and their effect on the environs. A tangle of bones is eerie, but perhaps they were arranged as in The Blair Witch Project, or warped to a degree. When HPL refers to "blasphemous" or "insane" or such, he merely tries to communicate the protagonist's rejection of normalcy for the eldritch. Amorphous entity could be "blob", but it leaves more to the suggestion of the mind. The Black Goat of the Woods With a Thousand Young could well be a mother-beast, but instead conveys Pan, Magna Mater, corruption of fertility cycles and so on.
However, if HPL is too wordy at times (and even I, an avowed fangirl, admit as much) then try some of the modern writers. Ramsey Campbell is...passable. Chambers is of Lovecraft's era and focused more on the King in Yellow (yellow being a flag of insanity at the time, not obvious today), and even Robert Price or heck Robert E. Howard transposed some of the Lovecraft mythos into his own places of work and haunts. The point of the Mythos is after all not to tell us about the blaspehmous, squalid, nethermost horror in the Ghooric Zone, but rather to expose the nullity of our human power (relative to the Ourter Gods or Great Old Ones) toward the cosmos. The omnipresence of external dread and our responses to it are what make the stories fun. Now, you aren't going to win any prizes for this stuff, but it is passable pulp fiction and some of the stories are gems.
In the end, it might not be your thing and that is TOTALLY cool!

Some mood music for the invasions, thanks to the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society for the cool tunes.
@Aurora Girl:
Suggest the following titles:
The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror or At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft
The Repairer of Reputations by Robert W. Chambers or The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers
(James Blish's story More Light tried to write out the play itself, to decent effect).
The Lurker at the Threshold or The Shadow out of Time from August Derleth and Lovecraft
You might also want to look for the "cycle" series like The Azathoth Cycle, The Shub-Niggurath Cycle, The Hastur Cycle published by Chaosium as they have a mostly modern take on the mythos. Coming to mind is one where Azathoth's light was used as sort of nuclear weaponry against "Gojiras" infesting the earth, to unfortunate side-effects.
Ia Shub-Niggurath! -
Hmm so 6 teams, 5 (10?) weeks of home/away play then playoffs for top x.
Nice. -

Quote:Too bad about that one, had the untimed one until they changed the Unai/Maria arcs...Fire/Fire Tanker friend still had a ball with it. Ah well, gameplay may change and all that, plenty of farm setups out there still. The old Dreck mission (you know, the untimed one, that was regularly used to PL people in?)...
Nothing better than running around with the crack monkey army in that map and just seeing everything melt before your eyes
At least that setup wasn't as mindnumbing as speed Katies for Pool C rolls...those were the absolute worst. -
Vigilante/Rogue arcs:
Vigilantes get their arcs from a Hero Corps sub-section, there's a branch called "Void Sanction" that asks you to take out targets. Contact is reached only by phone.
Rogues are helped by Wyvern.
Both groups get "tips" or need to pick up items known as "dead drops" in zones to further their mission paths along. They've been wanting to do stuff for the "side" alignment for awhile and finally got the opportunity.
Kings Row makeover:
Regulators-tied: The Regulators are past their prime so an old member helps things along in Kings Row.
Skulls got a makeover to make them look much more lugubrious.
Spawns have been adjusted, "Hazard Zone lite" in some spaces, with higher level spawns to be more challenging.
Talk about the Cyrus Thompson Memorial Centre, Posi pushed for it and was able to do something appropriate. -
Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than the current one, and The Center in the (center) background? O_o This does not bode well...

Quote:Or bring Electric Armor Brutes/Scrappers, who will suffer a lot less at the hands of the end drain.Pro tip: Synapse goes much much faster if the team gets Shivans first and then takes turns spawning them in missions, especially against the bosses. You'll even be able to take out the GM without begging the server to help.
Did this Task Force twice this weekend and it was bearable. One hour and a half per run, lots of Fire/Dark Corruptors, Electric Brutes/Scrappers and so on and ghosting the appropriate missions made it somewhat less tedious. It could really stand to lose a delivery, a patrol and about three defeat alls though.
As for Citadel, it's pretty lackluster but at least the Council bases make for neatly packed mobs...and if you're lucky you'll get the pool room only once or twice.
Synapse should he handing out the Crey Task Force in Brickstown since they, you know, MADE him this way. Manticore is already introduced to young'uns in Atlas so shunt him to Steel Canyon and have him give out a much, much shorter Clockwork task force. -
Use Incan as needed, target the area where the team is standing so no one gets yanked away. Otherwise use it to get to end boss on speed runs. Just need to use with care and it's fine.

C-c-c-CAPTION! Dev Headroom with your maxed out plans for I24!

Think Zwillinger got skunked on Virtue Wednesday, he had to log in to tell us not to trust anyone saying they were an NCName and so on. Unsure if someone posed as him but it was kinda scary.

Quote:This.Minion milling is great for purple hunting etc. But when i play for fun, Bosses are on, and Boss kill speed is important to me.
We will see how it works out, but in the meantime, I am working on a replacement for my dual pistols toon.
My Fire/MM should be even wackier now.
My Fire/Dark Corr is still alive only because of the snipe change and the absurdity of Corrs in general.
I really liked my DP/Traps and will still play it but it's...mehish at the moment.
Maybe if they buffed the secondary effects enough to make it worth it I'd dust it off more frequently. -
Quote:Hasn't changed mine. It's pretty easy getting 44 points of KB protect and that stops virtually anything in PvP and MOST stuff in PvE (outside Encounter-specific events). Now, I see it's a Force of Nature clone too, but I'm still not sold on this until it has MORE BROKEN STUFFZ than what we have. The crash on it is going away. Does that change your mind at all?
Now, if this had a Hasten that gave 100% recharge, Superspeed that instantly put you at speed cap or Burnout that cost only 10 endurance and recharged in two minutes...we may have needed to check it out on the Paragon Market.
As it is, maybe if it goes on sale. None of my characters (very few anyway) use magic, so it's out of theme and meh.
And while we're at it, I'll admit it. I'm a little peeved Corruptor Rain of Fire got set back to intended levels. [/pique]
Quote:Edit: I caught up on the thread and see now it will be losing the crash. That makes it much more attractive, but I'm still not sure it's worth the investment. If I were to want enough of the other powers in the pool, it might be. Having a small-ish godmode on characters that lack one, like Fiery Aura and Dark Armor (who also happen to lack KB protection) might be nice. -
Quote:Invulnerability or Willpower (more of a defense set) or if you want to go really clunky, Stone Armor.
I was wondering if anyone had ideas how to best create a similar character in CoH. I am thinking Tank. In the "Hero game" he had 75% damage reduction to all non psi damage, some moderate resist numbers as well. The game systems do not match up exactly in how damage is applied. I can see it as a mace tanker pretty easy, but cannot decide on the armor type. Any ideas? Or should I wait and see if Bio fits better? -
Quote:L as in Look, it's Robert Loggia
In my head Arbiter Hawk sounds like Robert Loggia:
I gave Blasters a crap load of regen: what'r you gonna to do about it, huh? Huh??
O as in O my God, it's Robert Loggia
G as in Great, Robert Loggia has arrived....
Changes are nice and best of all I won't have to respec many of toons as most (all?) of them have Tactics, the +6% ToHit IO and Veng/PowerBoost (where available), so insta-snipes here we come!
The IO changes will take time to absorb, but if Arbiter "Looks way too young and has way too nice hair to be a Developer" Hawk REALLY wants to shake things up..Battallion needs some IO bonus resistance, or at least make SOd characters level shifted when fighting them.
