So, I'll bite. Educate me as to what problems exist with the market as it stands.
Making inf isn't the problem, supply is.
The supply problems of the BM are so well documented I don't feel obligated to restate them here. Likewise the paucity of IO recipes below max level on both sides of the game.

And your claims of "never having any trouble" filling out your builds aren't going to sway anyone minus specifics.

My stalker doesn't have any trouble filling out his build either......because he's only using generics. For him it's "fine".

Likewise, taking off months at a time would tend to nullify the uber slow pace of the BM.

It can still be broken without being a problem for you, specifically.

I really don't understand what problem needs fixing, aside perhaps from some rarity of purples redside.
    Huh.
That's quite a pair of rose colored glasses you've got there, pardner.

    folks already delete junk drops.

eliminating storage might raise the 'junk' threshold, but anything people actually want would rapidly appreciate in value, which would inspire listings. Just like when some badger or bored marketeer buys up the supply of some 'worthless' salvage and it becomes temporarily worth listing.

the only 'broken' thing about it is the game choking on numbers larger than 2B.

It always amazes me when we get these kind of ridiculous quotes from DEVELOPERS, people who should understand what happens when a fantastically desirable item is assigned an infinitesimal drop rate.
  7. one way to increase liquidity and generate lower price pressure would be to eliminate storage completely.

i mean it'll never happen, but if you couldn't stash stuff away and had to list it, there'd be a big incentive to price it for insta-sale.

I've been saying this for years.

I'm no fan of WoW-style 'camp the spawn and try to gank that drop before the other vultures get it' gameplay, but there's gotta be a happy medium between that and CoH's "all instance, all the time!" approach.

Most zones are cool enough to deserve better than being treated like a glorified lobby for mission doors.

    Any regrets?

if I had it to do over I'd have taken the time to attach my CoV account to my CoH account correctly. The wording wasn't clear and when I installed CoV I created a whole new account. As I wasn't planning on playing CoH again, I shrugged and went with it.

Then along came vet rewards and the blue-favoring market, and I switched back to my original account, leaving behind several chunks of vet reward time in the process.

    Ah well, c'est la vie.

I doubt even the devs are goofy enough to try that.

the perceived 'best' sets will always command a premium and everything else will be largely ignored except by frankenslotters, whether the 'worthless' bonuses are genuinely pointless (like debt reduction) or just not quite as good as the 'best' stuff.

and they can't make everything 'the best' for obvious reasons.

Posi on the market is like GWB on Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Much bluster and confidence generated by wishful thinking.

But marketeers are the cockroaches of CoH- we'll adapt and survive whatever toxic environment they manage to cook up.

    good point.

when I painted miniatures a freshly primered new fig was much more appealing than an old ratty one that needed to be stripped first.

    that wasn't Dave, first off.

Second off, the point you've so grievously missed (and which I will now highlight and explain, as I would for a small child) is that only a dope wanders into a video game forum dedicated to discussion of its virtual market and then decries the lack of humility and decorum on display.

Because it isn't a humility and decorum forum, it's a forum about how to make a tremendous pile of virtual loot.

Do you get it now, or should I rephrase it again, perhaps in sign language this time?

  20. good drops:

doing a 'kill 10 freakshow" mission I vaporized a spawn of 3 and got two rare salvages for my trouble.

got an Adjusted Targeting recipe that sold for a few million.

I cropped down the screenshot but uploaded the original- oh well!

levelling was mostly running Hard Luck's arc combined with newspapers to open up a new contact once I finished it.

Cause I'd love to drop in and complain about how they should spend more time talking about HIGH FINANCE and wealth building.

    lol.

the deranged way you mis-use the market makes me doubt the devs should be following your lead on anything.

    I stopped right there.

First, I have a hard time imagining any level 50 who doesn't have a few million inf lying around to blow on some giant inspirations at whatever the BUY IT NAO price is. In a world where level 50 generic recipes fetch 100k a pop at the vendor there's no excuse for a level capped character to be a pauper.

Second, anyone with 1/10th of a brain can easily fill up their inventory (or base storage) with giant inspirations picked up at bargain rates by placing reasonable bids and waiting a little while- overnight is usually good.

Hopefully the rest of your post operated on a higher level than your opener.
