Car mechanics aside lets talk teeth.... or lack there of.
My son has 4 missing right now. Big gap of 3 on the top and 1 on the bottom. I dont ever remember having more than a pair missing at a time. Anyone else have a child with that many teeth MIA at once (you can feel 2 just below the surface to replace, but still.) -
Tossed a game boy... ouch. Probably better its on the roof than surviving the ground impact.
And I wouldnt sweat the rain, just dry it out and is probably good to go (they have remarkably good seals on them, only the external connectors are exposed to corrosion, but are usually gold plated.)
Anyways, a week is not too long; but as mentioned it has to be enforcable. If you dont stick to a week, then you devalue your authority. Currently I have my 13yr-olds cel phone hostage based on her grades =) -
RP.
Just a little way to engage the players in the event. I had fun organizing the Star Strider Forces Mothership Raid (3 of them). -
Epic thread rez.
Srsly tho, this topic died around the end of the last Rikti Invasion. -
Priceless 6yr old moment; brought to you by the flu.
My son got a bit ill over the last weekend and was vomiting quite a bit. My wife was obviously dismayed at the mopping and sponging which did not go un-noticed. Honest as can be my son asked, "Mom, do you still love me when I throw-up?" A solid hug and affirmation later he perked up and went about being a kid, and its a good thing that he is (finally) developing a sence of empathy, but still its just one of those moments as a parent that sticks with you and reminds you that your kids are watching; and sometimes a re-affirming hug and "I love you" can really make thier day.
And on that note of 6yr old mayhem, he is still quite entrigued with City of Heroes. I might be bringing him online with me in the near future. Aside from the obvious chat filter and setting his tabs to only include a few select channels, anything else I should have set for him before logging him in? -
yeah its ona Saturday, but that means the flowers will be there on Friday so my wife can make the other women in her area jealous. I dont get it, but I know she loves it when I drop fresh flowers at her desk because of it.
-
Well I stunned the Floral Shop today.
I reserved my floral arrangement for Valentines Day.
"This is the earliest I ever had someone reserve before."
Simple arrangement, 12 "Blush" roses in a vase with assorted greens as filler. (No Baby's breath, thats cliched).
Anyways, It is only 4 weeks away guys, dont drop the ball and be one of those guys on the 13th grubbing for what ever is left. -

Soooooo.....
When do we get to see this ad on TV and when do we get our characters mouths to move like in the video?

No kidding. Facial expressions would help us demo editors... alot. -
Isnt OpenGl fun =)
The translates and rotates are pain until you get them right. Lost to the depths of UNIX servers was a program I wrote 10 or so years ago that was, for lack of a better term, a ragdoll simulator/animator in OpenGl (minus the head). Twas a model based off my dimensions that I could create different poses/animations for. Got me an A in the my Comp Animation class (elective for my EE degree).
Anyways, from what I can remember on the gotcha of rotate and translate was that you rotated, then translated to get the next joint. Thats very key. To go from torso point (0,0,0) to neck, you would rotate the torso, then translate (ex. 1unit up) (0,1,0). That way the head, drawn from the neck's reference point would be facing the same way as the torso, or you could rotate it then to look left/right (and then translate if you wanted facial characteristics, like eyes/ears etc.).
Alot of it just how you define your joints and frames of reference. And math.... lots and lots of math. -

Full auto belt fed nerf. $40
Extra ammo belt to make a 50rd belt, $8.
And watching the glee my 6yr old gets from launching a stream of 50 across the room.... priceless.
Dad's currently working on some "modifications" to see if we cant up that 3 rounds/sec a little higher. =P
I must say, having children is like the best excuse for spending money on toys that you might end up playing with. -

Its got sharks with frickin lasers on thier heads!
(Yes I got this for my nephew this year.) -
There is also a limit on number of characters drawn. I believe BaB went off to say that the engine only renders the closest 100 players/NPCs to you (in responce to some issues during the Wedding Event).

Report Appendium:
We. Kicked. Butt.
The call for Paragon's finest and most wanted did not go unheeded.
Heroes and Villians alike banded together to form 5 teams to assault the Mothership. Myself, Cobalt Azurean, and Beetle King anchored three of the teams with out veteran leadership and 2 newer faces Circle of Trust and Sacean Kareru anchored the rest.
The Pylons fell like dominos as we toured the War Zone taking them out quickly and efficiently with minimal casualties. Then came the assault. All teams moved quickly to the top of the downed spacecraft and placed satchel charges along the vents inflicting crippling damage on the already heavily damaged ship. Eventually, the Man at Arms showed up, but barely managed a token presence as the wave of destruction washed over and into the heart of the ship.
At this point the Rikti started having a worse day. For a solid 30 minutes plus, we repulsed wave after wave of Rikti. Magus, Mentalists, and Headman alike were handled with incredible swiftness. Eventually the Rikti technicians managed to repair enough damage to restore the main shield, but not before the message was delivered.
Just to be sure, we banded together and added a sixth team to the fracas. This time the assault around the pylons was so swift that when we jumped on top of the ship, the Rikti were no where to be found. We placed 2 charges before any resistance was mounted, and it was token at that. They were caught completely off guard and we added to the impressive damage from the first raid. U'kon, fresh from the infirmary was quickly returned there. Again the bowl was conquered, but without some Bubbles providing mez cover, the Magus Storm (6+ soawn) did a number on the raid, and enough time was bought to raise the shields before we could regroup.
Undeterred, a third raid was formed from the remnants and a smaller strike team was assembled. The pylons fell and once again the hull of the ship was barren and 2 bombs placed before resistance materialized. While stronger than the second raid's showing, it was still poor and swept aside. U'kon's token showing and trip to the showers was predictable as usual and anchored by triple bubbles the Rikti were crushed. With fewer, but more determined numbers, even the Magus Storm was dispatched. Eventually one of the aliens managed to piece together enough of the tattered remains to re-enable the shields and we retreated to the Vanguard outposts.
Having bloodied more than a few noses, the Rikti got the certified message that Paragon City isn't a Rikti annex.
Commendations to all who helped send the message loud and clear.

Just cut and paste the lines for Manti into here, from his initial load then the lines for the actions. We dont need to see his POS or PYR entries. (Zloth's editor has a nice feature for auto filtering for an object) -
Agreed. 6 minutes until we see any action, and at that, its 1/2 timed action that really just drags on. We are supposed to care about the character and the story, but 4 mins in and all weve managed is to /em drink in Founders and pan the Storm Palace and Ive pretty forgot what I was supposed to care about. For 6-7 words tops per screen, they were there a long time. If my 6yr old gets bored reading it, its up there too long (and he loves to read). Step up the speed on the text screens, easy on the 1/2 speed shots (save those for points of emphesis), and generally a little more action (or at least camera manip). And yes I did watch all 10mins. ** out of 5.

Ironic thread rez:
Ever think about a good friend from college, and decide to look him/her up..... only to find out they died just a few months prior. =(
This totally sucks. First off, he was a really good friend who was unfairly stricken with Muscular Dystrophy (which ultimately killed him). Secondly, I'm feeling old. High school and college friends are dropping off left and right. You never want to be the last one to die because you'll have no-one else to reminance with, but at this rate Im gonna be a lonely old man with lots of cats before Im 50.
Now if you'll excuse me, I feel the need to invest in kitty litter companies. -
CoX does widescreen.
I have 2 of them, plays really nice on both.
I dont record directly, i demo record then playback at fixed 4:3 (1280x960) and record in FRAPS that way so my vids are native 4:3 instead of 16:9. Just have to be carful setting up the shots so you know whats visable in the smaller resolution (I have little tape guides on the edge of my monitor to help.) -
Emp/Rad here as well, its certainly doable, a little slow, but with rolling mez from Cosmic (well slotted), I can solo as well.

Or its just a case of "man".
For you see, the male of the species operates in a different time stream than the female. The female's problems do not go unnoticed by the male, but rather they fail to percieve them at the same time, sometimes not for days after the female shows obvious distress. And even upon noticing, the male tends to react much more slowly knowing that 75% of all problems vanish mysterously after a few days. After enough time has elapsed and the problem is still there, the male does tend to help out. =P -

So...
This morning, I left an ITF because my wife came home with our six year old from grocery shopping, and there was clearly some form of issue. Turns out, he tried to run away from her in the store because she didn't want to buy something, and she was unable to do any shopping. Anyway, then, after that, he was grounded to his room today because running away in public places is a big issue, and he decided, in his "taking everything literally" way, that this meant he should...
...
...pee on his floor. Because he was supposed to be in his room all day, that clearly meant, to him, that the bathroom was off limits. THAT was a joy to clean up, especially since I didn't know about it until I was standing in it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I always make sure to specify that the going to the bathroom is permissable when grounded, just to prevent said tragedies. Not that my son would be literally defiant that way, its just that he usually ends up there for disobeying and saying, "Go to your room and stay there," would mean stay there not wanting to get in more trouble for not obeying again. Isnt parenting fun?
