Ooooh! Low blow!
For this match, I will not be RPing!! Cause if I did, I'd have to let you beat me up a few times, then go crazy and utterly erase you from existence... And we don't want that, right?
This just a friendly little match, to show people that AR iz teh suxx04z!!

Just Godmod him FG - he loves it, really -
What Stasis said.
That link is blocked within my work, so I can't read it right now. -
Congrats Sar - very well deserved. The one line comments ("I'm only going to Tescos", etc) in these comics make them a winner for me.
Look forward to many more. -
You're not the only one - bad Marvel Ultimate Alliance, bad game....
Ahem. -

Corollary: Born in battle accolade and others that require PVP badges are PVP content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Yes, they are. But they really shouldn't be. After all, the PvP game would be no different if those requirements weren't based in a PvP zone - which, coincidentally, they're not in Heroes.
I've already stated my concerns behind the decision, I've already made the suggestion that they be removed from PvP content, but I don't really think anything will change.
I won't be entering a PvP zone for those badges. All it means is that my hero will always be more powerful in game than my villain ever will be. From a concept point of view, that doesn't work (hero/villain exact duplicate kind of thing), but I can live with that. This isn't a complaint against PvP itself, simply with the decision to place the accolade requirements in a PvP zone as nothing more than a lure to entice players in who wouldn't necessarily enter a PvP zone. -

To me, it's some of the points I'm arguing against that are the ones finding nuances. It's called being on different sides of an argument, and I'd prefer it if you didn't tar people arguing the opposite point as having a problem with logic.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, you wanted to limit the discussion to PVP badges. That is fine. However, MaX and me were talking about the personal choice players have about getting a badge, accolade or whatever. In order to have a debate, it is good to occasionally check that we are debating over the same subject.
We wanted to point out that getting an accolade is optional, therefore getting any of the requirement badges to that accolade is also optional. It doesnt matter whether the badges in question are PvP or PvE badges, the player always has the choice to get or not to get the thing in question.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I agree, it is optional. But it's also wanted. And if I want to get it in Heroes, then I can merrily skip my way from PvE encounter to PvE encounter.
Not so in Villains, which seems more of a ploy to drag reluctant players into the zone, than it does a way of making the two games balanced.
Surely removing the "entering a PvP zone" Accolade requirements from villains would have zero effect on the PvP game?
It's not likely now, but it shows either desperate forethought or a malicious sense of humour. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well those people have no right to compain tbh. Shivans and Nukes are a part of the PvP content. If they want them, they'll have to put up with it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, same with Exploration badges - but then again, I'm sure someone may comment that it is the same with Accolades and I disagree with that.
There's no clear line of distinction and it's easy to argue from both sides. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not saying they should add them to existing ones, but that the new ones they eventually give us should have PvP requirments.
[/ QUOTE ]
Completely disagree - I don't think obtaining anything in this game other than PvP reputation should involve PvP. I don't want to be forced into a PvP zone against my will in order to get an accolade that will have a benefit in a PvE zone. Not fun in my opinion. And that's not saying anything against PvP - if you want to do it, then that's up to you. But don't force it on the rest of us who play this game for PvE. There's really no need. -
[ QUOTE ]
IMO, that is an issue with hero side NOT having accolades that require PvP.
PvP, and entering PvP zones SHOULD have rewards that will be useful in PvE content, but not REQUIRED to complete it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Erm.... okay, I'm not going to counter that, because I don't know how to say it politely. I don't mind teaming, I don't mind doing Task Forces for accolade requirements, but I don't see how adding in PvP requirements on the heroes side for accolades would do anything other than cause a lot of fuss. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
So if a player considers the Accolades to be an important part in 'completing' their character, then they have no choice but are required to enter the PvP zones?
[/ QUOTE ]The same could be said of having 400 PvP reputation, for example.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, but if a player who only PvE's (Hello there!) wants to build a villain with the same powers as their hero character, then they will be unable to do it without entering a PvP zone.
Now I don't have to enter a PvP zone to get to Level 50, but if I want the same accolade effects that are available to my hero for my villain, I have no choice but to do that.
We're discussing semantics now. But the game does not currently allow a Non-PvPer to get similar rewards on the heroes side and the villain side.
It's unlikely to be changed and it adds to the numbers who will enter the zones. Perfect for Cryptic. -

My point is that a large section of the community must enter the PvP zones to acheive their objectives - [u]even if they don't want to.[u]
[/ QUOTE ]Since when does anyone HAVE to enter PvP zones?
[/ QUOTE ]
Villains, to get the badges required for the Villain version of the Atlas Medallion. Badgehunters and people just looking for an extra boost alike.
[/ QUOTE ]None of them are forced to enter.
[/ QUOTE ]
None of the above are forced to enter? Ah... My bad. I thought villains still had to go into the PvP zones for Accolades. I didn't realise they had changed that.
Well done Devs
[/ QUOTE ]
Far as i know they do, however its not like you need the accolades, you just want em
[/ QUOTE ]
But if you choose to get the accolades on the hero side, then you don't have to enter a PvP zone. However, if you choose to get them on the villains side, then you have no choice. -
[ QUOTE ]
But when asked but someone to not kill them for a few minutes while they do something that takes a considerable amount of time and effort to orchestrate, it seems to completely DISRESPECTFUL to say 'No, you're in a PvP zone, I will kill you' over and over again....
[/ QUOTE ]
From just one point of view though - what if that player only logged on for 20 minutes, thinking I'll go and fight some people in RV. What if they had all chat switched off, due to bad experiences?
As far as they are concerned then, they're in a PvP zone, you're in a PvP zone. And that's all that matters to them. Surely (from that Stalker's POV) it's disrespectful of you to ask them to stop doing the one thing they were planning on doing in the short time they are logged in?
Again, this is from a non PvP'ers POV - I don't personally think respect comes into it. They're playing the game as it's meant to be played in that zone. -
[ QUOTE ]
After all, we can all agree that just because it's a PvP zone, I dont HAVE to be there to PvP right? So long as I just accept the risk of getting jumped and stomped, right?
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but as long as you don't complain that "I'm not PvP'ing, leave me alone" after you're attacked, I wouldn't imagine there would be any problems at all. -

Or perhaps the Smokers somewhat incomprehensible idea that because he has the right to smoke in a resturant and pollute the lungs of other people, he therefor should.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or, y'know, non-smokers could just sit somewhere else?
Much like non-PvPers could play somewhere else.
[/ QUOTE ]
Unless it's Scotland, in which case the smokers have to go stand out in the rain (which I would class as the PvP zone)
-
You get a warning when you enter PvP zones that you can and probably will get attacked by other players.
Whilst I understand your desire to explore a zone without being attacked by other players, there are plenty (although not quite enough - hint, hint) of other zones where you can play the game.
As a stauch non-PvP'er, it would be nice if you could walk into any zone and explore it as you like it, but that's not the way the game is any more (and hasn't been since Issue 6).
I don't think you'll get much support for this one, I'm afraid. The title of the thread is "Respect For Other Players In RV - Or Lack Of It". That goes both ways you know? -
[ QUOTE ]
I've sunk so low, I've started killing off one of my main characters, just so he'll pop up and save her before I lose the entire point of the story.
He'd better be perfect, y'know?

Ha. You are Joss Whedon and I claim my ten dollars. Now get back to writing Wonder Woman you scamp and make sure that she isn't just a Buffy rip off!!! -

Over the last two days I have managed a grand total of... 152 words. Pah. So much for getting comfortably ahead in the first week..
Dunno where my motivation's gone, I looked down the back of the sofa and under the bed, it's not there...
[/ QUOTE ]
3 more words than I've done. I had an initial burst of great writing, but it's all gone to pot now.
Meh, I'll probably spend about 20 years trying to get mine finished. -
Nice one Avernal - very in the style of the City games, but fresh enough to grab attention
I like. -
Actually, the "enemy" in the next chapter is based along those lines
(Damn I want to write now. Think I'll run notepad in the background here).
-
If only - more along the lines of "use this system and pay us money. No it doesn't matter that MS Visio does all the same things and is far easier to use. Use ours. Pay us, pay us, pay us MORTAL..... (it gets scary around there)"
-
I've not been able to go for more than a few words now without losing interest... for some strange reason, I seem determined to get a villain to 50 now (which is weird, because I've been a tad meh about it up till now).
Hopefully, I'll be able to carry on at lunchtime today. I'm meeting IBM later today, so I'll at least have a "facing the evil empire" mindset to work with -

There is a TS server just sitting around gathering dust. If anyone needs to talk through their story or wants some more inspiration - I'm sure we could hold a sort of write-in on the server. That is, if FG doesn't object...?
[/ QUOTE ]
And if he does? -
Not the only one - I can't get motivated this morning and my brain has been going "get a villain into Grandville, get a villain into Grandville....."
Urgh.
