I've been bored and recently decided to start writing a short roleplay story. The one I'm working on at the moment is only a few hours from finishing and I just thought since I'm taking a break from writing it right now because I've been working on it for the last 3 hours, would the people on this board actually do it?

For those who do not know what I mean by roleplay story. It's something like this:

You are in a room. There are two doors.
If you want to take the door on the left go to 17
If you want to take the door on the right go to 4

You would then go down to the paragraph with the related number above it and read that + make a choice on what paragraph to read next. The story would involve fights which would require the rolling of a dice ( you could just use this : http://www.silviotorre.it/random_generators/dice.aspx)

I will be posting the roleplay story I'm working on once it's done and I just want to know if people would like this idea so I can start working on a second one once I post the first one

Is there a free downloadable software which lets me take videos of CoH while i play it?

Hehe if only i had waited a few more minutes.
After writing the first part I didn't really bother to proof read it. It was the first piece i had written in months and just HAD to get it up. I now realise some silly mistakes which could be better and some you pointed out like the quote and the end of your post made me want to slap my head for being so stupid. Thank you for your comments I shall be putting up the next part sometime today.

I liked the way you didn't mention much about the characters but let the reader picture them through the dialogue. But like burning fist said I didn't realise the fight was happening while all the talking was occuring. That could be fixed with a few references to a battle while talking. But overall I enjoyed the read and will you be posting the next parts?

You could just read the other posts and find out But since my email was messed up i couldn't judge and people just posted their entries anyway.

I have recently had a lot of writer's block (and laziness) so i decided to write a short story. This is my first attempt at writing a story about one of my city of heroes characters. The names of the characters are a bit silly but hey, that's how my heroes are Any constructive criticism would be appreciated I'm writing more and will post the next chunk soon. So here it is:


A Secret For A Leg Or Two

Silence. Apart from the rivers of human waste flowing about the sewer all was silent. It would seem that for once the sewer network was empty. But life is never that simple.
“I’m picking up signs of Vazhilok patrols coming our way master.”
“How many?”
“One patrol coming towards us, four bodies, 47 seconds until confrontation master.”
“That will do. Wait here for my signal.”
“Yes master.”
A soft shuffling of feet moves up a wall and along the ceiling. The creator of this noise is masked by the shadows. The shuffling comes to a stop above an archway, casting a shadow over the sewage which passes below. Voices can be heard echoing along the sewer walls.
“I spend all day working on those damn zombies and when I finally get free the doctor calls me down here to watch civilian innards float about.”
“Quit moaning will you? All we have to do is stand here and we’ll get a promotion.”
“You actually believe that? Something’s up, either the doctor is expecting company or he just needs more human subjects.”
“Quiet! I think I hear something...”
Two men wearing aprons and surgeon masks come around a corner cautiously, each with a cleaver in hand. They tip toe along, staying close to the walls as if listening for voices echoing off of them. They come to a pause just before the archway.
“What’s up?” The man’s voice is low and shakes with fear.
His comrade puts a finger to his lip and points with his other hand at a ladder which leads up to the streets of Steel Canyon. “They’ve increased police patrols over the last few nights, wouldn’t want them to hear us coming for them would we?”
“The doctor told us not to harm anyone unless attacked.”
“Well sometimes the doctor isn’t right. I have a craving for bloodshed.”
The two continue onwards under the archway. When they are a few yards past it the sewer fills with the sound of nails on a chalk board.
“What the...” The two surgeons look up but it’s too late.
Something drops from the ceiling and lands between them.
“I was up!” The assailant swipes at one of the surgeon’s legs with his katana and chops it clean off while grabbing his mouth with his free hand to muffle his cries of pain. The second surgeon raises his cleaver high in the air and prepares to strike but is cut short by a bolt of energy which shoots out from the shadows, smacking him in the chest and causing him to fly backwards into the wall. He smacks his head off of the cold moist wall and slumps to the ground in a heap. The one legged surgeon is being held up against the wall above his fallen comrade.
“Where’s the doctor?!” The assailant’s voice is deep and filled with hatred.
“I wouldn’t tell you such things!” The surgeon spits at his attacker.
“How much time before more come?” The attacker turns to his companion, both of their faces now viewable in the light. The sword bearer is the well known hero Flying Pie. Famous for his name and his lust to see justice be done. Infamous for his brutal methods of obtaining that justice. Behind him stands his trusted sidekick, Wufflebot.
“Approximately twelve minutes master.”
“That’s enough.” Flying Pie throws the surgeon onto the ground and stoops down next to him. He grabs his head and forces it under the sewage which travels around these underground tunnels. After about ten seconds he pulls the surgeons head out and stares into his eyes. “Where is he?!”
“You stupid hero! You’ll never get to him!”
His head plunges under once more and his legs flail about helplessly like a fish on land. After another ten seconds he is pulled out again.
“Where is he?!”
Gagging for air the surgeon spits out the sewage in his mouth and croaks “He’s somewhere where you are not.”
“I can do this all day.” The surgeon is put under and pulled out again.
“Well actually you have less than twelve minutes.”
Flying Pie growls and thrusts the surgeon underneath once more and this time when he takes him out he holds his blade against the man’s throat. “If you won’t talk then I’ll just have to let the truth spill out of you.”
“Master I wouldn’t do that. If he is put through any of your interrogation methods again he will die.”
The surgeon laughs manically in triumph.
“Well then. I have nothing to lose.” With a quick flick of the wrist the surgeon’s throat is slit and blood begins to ooze out. Only a small slit was made, enough to immobilize him in pain but not enough to kill him quickly. “Activate termination programme 253.”
“Termination programme 253 activated. Time until completion equals forty five seconds. I would also like to remind you that we will have some company in approximately fifty seconds.”
“Wouldn’t want things to be too clean now would we?” Flying Pie keeps his blade drawn and advances to the corner and waits for his prey.

*Puts hand up* I'd like to help out with the writing If there were several artists wouldnt the comic be done in different styles? I think that would be cool but others might find it annoying that the style kept changing.

Ok i would like to apologise for not being able to post the entries/winners. I have finished my game but for some reason gmail won't recognise my account lol. So feel free to post your entries because it will be some time before i fix it lol. I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused and will track you all down and give you each 10 million influence to compensate for the bother

Due to real life circumstances and me finally finding Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic in a shop after searching for over a year, i won't be able to judge today, will get it up for you tomorrow though

I will accept revised versions of entry, but will only accept 1 revised entry, meaning that if you sent me a revised entry then you can not revise it again and re-send it.

Howdy folks! 1 entry per person and once the competition is over i will post all entries. Nice to see people entering, once i install microsoft word on this computer i can begin judging because at the moment i don't want to manually count the words

Hehe it took me a while to decide on a length and i thought that if i get a good amount of entries i dont wanna spend ages reading through them all when i have other things to be doing on top of this event :P Think of it as a challenge to write something short but brilliant.

Just wanted to make sure that none of you union heroes miss a chance to win some influence and show off your creativeness. I don't wanna write the whole thing out again so i'll just post the link:

I've come up with a new competition. Hooray! This is to celebrate getting my new computer and me reaching 50 for the first time a few weeks ago

Union's Hero Story Competition!!!
"What is it?" you may ask. This is a competition run by me in which heroes of the union server write a story, a fanfic about themselves you might say, to win influence.


Prizes!
1st place = 30 million influence
2nd place = 15 million influence
3rd place = 5 million influence


How to enter
All entries are to be submitted to me via email. My email address is mr.wuffles@gmail.com
Any entries submitted in this thread will be disquallified.
This thread is only to be used for questions about the competition. The subject of the email must be "Union Server Story Competition" and the body of your email should contain your story and your global name. Any emails which contain attachments will not be read and will be disquallified.

Judging
All entries will be read and judged by me. I will be using a strict marking scheme (see below) so people will not lose out because i don't like the area their story is set etc. Stories will be marked out of 200 marks.

Punctuation (20 marks) I don't want to spend my day reading badly written stories, i will let people off with spelling/fullstops etc since not all entries will be made by people who are fluent in english. However i will deduct marks for constant abreviations e.g. cuz instead of because and de instead of the.

Originality (90 marks) I don't want to read a thousand stories about a hero who was an experiment gone wrong and is now a green monster etc. I wan't to read things which are new and well... original! :P Points will be deducted if i feel the story is just a copy of a marvel hero or someother story which is well known.

Length (40 marks) The story is to be less than 800 words. 1 mark will be deducted for each word over the 800 limit, with a total of 40 marks able to be deducted for this.

Is it interesting? (50 marks) If your story is a dull passive piece which is making me sleepy you will lose marks. I will however read through each piece no matter how boring.

The deadline for entries is July 24th at midnight UK time.
