  1. Happy Birthday Mr. E Man!

  2. [ QUOTE ]
Before you cry that the sky is falling, Chicken Little, explain to me this. How is playing a new character on Freedom any different than playing a higher level character on Freedom?

    [/ QUOTE ]

What I'm concerned about is the increase of player population. Are you claiming that the population of Freedom won't increase when the server transfers go live?

    [ QUOTE ]
To assume that every day is going to be like Double XP Weekend is so ludicrous as to not deserve even the remotest consideration. Give me a break.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you try playing on Freedom this past weekend? Check the Freedom forums regarding the server problems we had on just a regular weekend. We're perma-yellow as it is during peak playing hours. There were reports we hit red... on an uneventful weekend.

    [ QUOTE ]
If people want to play with their friends on a server, they will do it regardless. At least with server transfers we have the option of porting over some of our characters that are in the same relative range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not everyone will be transfering servers to play with friends. There will probably be a good amount that will be looking to go where teams are easier to find.

    [ QUOTE ]
Did you ever think that allowing server transfers might be a way of equalizing server populations over the long term due to people filling their slots with characters they don't wish to delete?.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure. I would love for this to result in equalized poplulation across the servers. What's wrong with an initial restriction on transfers to Freedom and Virtue until populations start to normalize?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Currently, our plan is to enable the Character Transfer service with no limitations. There will be no restrictions on which server you can or cannot transfer too. Of course, if you have no free character slots on a server, you will need to make room before you can transfer there.

Our main goal with the Character Transfer service is to enabler customers to play on the server they want to with the character they want to with their friends. We are sensitive to population issues and will continue to closely monitor server populations and server performance. Should transfers be seen as a contributing factor to a less than optimal gaming experience, we reserve the right to restrict transfers in the future to address such concerns

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is a disaster waiting to happen. The Freedom server already has a "less than an optimal gaming experience" due to its population size. We've seen the overpopulation problem on Freedom during Double XP weekend when players couldn't even log onto the server. Now the reality is that every day could be like Double XP weekend on Freedom.

Is this transfer of characters without server restrictions also going to be accompanied by a server upgrade? If not, the "we'll fix it if it breaks" philosophy contradicts your claimed sensitivity to population issues, because the population size of Freedom is already a known problem. Unrestricted server transfers to Freedom will only make an existing problem much worse.

    [ QUOTE ]
The former is encouraging participation while the latter is confrontational and smacks vaguely of bullying in an effort to get the other party to 'back down'.

    [/ QUOTE ]
We are only fans. Our critics are confrontational, bullying, insulting, and passionate. Why are you holding us to a higher standard?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Obviously somebody was holding you to a higher standard when they added the EIC title and gave you and the City Scoop staff unprecedented exposure for a player created publication. If you don't feel you have to live up to that standard as far as conducting yourselves, or you feel that it's unfair, that's your perogative. Like it or not, in many people's eyes that's going to reflect upon the publication itself.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
So availability trumps suitability — at least if we want to fill column space. Maybe in the future if we can't get the best people, we'll just interview nobody at all. That would seem to be less controversial. What do you think, Teldon?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can you really call those segments interviews? The most disappointing thing about the Stryker segment was that you actually had a subject that had some level of controversy surrounding him and he gets the same stock questions that everyone else received. It wasn't an interview it was questionnaire answering.

I know you can't quantify something such as reputation or fame but it has been acknowledged that at least some of the editorial staff knew of his reputation. I've heard of him and I rarely read anything outside of Freedom. I'm sure the many Champion forumites would have like to have seen more than the same questions presented to every other player.

If providing a quality product is really the goal here, a subject like Stryker should have been treated with more than stock questions. As a potential reader, I felt I was cheated out of what could have been a far more interesting read.

    The J-Force

BunsonBurner: Thanks for the kind words. It cracks me up whenever we have another Tank around because J gets all territorial. "Let me voke... blah blah blah." I really don't know the dynamics behind it since I've never played a tank but it's (most of the time) entertaining. I'm glad you had a good time hanging with the Force and you're always welcome.

To set the record straight there are actually more than two members of J-Force but none of them want to seem to post. So in response to that, I know that the Death Dealers have one heck of a website and alot of the other SG's have bulletin boards and such, I am proud to announce the Official J-Force Legal Pad and Crayola Crayon (Burnt Sienna) which we can use to write down our communications. I have a big envelope with a SASE inside when you get it please send it to another member. I'll collect them all and Kinko them and release it as a quarterly newsletter. JFS!!!!

Snippet from J-Man and Mr. Trix Adventures in Terra Volta

J-Man: Trix, I'm sorry we couldn't clear out all the bad guys

Mr. Trix: I'm sorry you died eight times.

    The J-Force

First of all there really are no prerequisites to joining the J Force. Typing skills, proper spelling, grammar, the JForce craves not these things. Believe me you will learn to type faster. Somehow J-Man has the ability to wisecrack provoke and wisecrack all at the same time...must be a tanker skill. Falling Leaf can type "boost pls Trix" in the middle of meleeing. I'm still at the level of "I ahte allo f you gusy" all while fighting reds and purps. Well, I can blame it on GS Kate's evil typing mojo.

Gruff, I haven't seen this leprachaun you are referring to. Will someone clue me in?

Leaf, spending 20000 on a hat is not what I would consider a problem. Training enhancements are just fine...what's this? Ooh capes!

    [ QUOTE ]

Just ahve your shots first ebfore you sign up... leaf can be a little rabbid at times

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah and apparently I can be a silly rabbit at times.

    The J-Force

J Force Style is about sneaky fighting tactics in a tanker-controller duo.

J Force Style is going through 20 minute battles when those tactics don't work out right.

J Force Style is sending tells to other people in your team to make sure that someone makes a breakfast cereal reference.

J Force Style is being reminded everyday for 60+ days that, indeed, "Trix are for kids" (I honestly didn't see that coming. I guess I should have gone with my 2nd choice for a name...Count Chocula)

J Force Style is getting members of other SG's addicted to the zany hi-jinks of the J Force. It's always a fun time hanging with the J Force. We got nothin' but love.
