Plus, there's also a Star Trek effect going on, where something that looked high-tech to its original audience looks like crap to newer audiences, thus requiring an update.

Though your Power Rangers comment isn't that far off from the mark. Cause shows like both Voltron Groups were basically animated versions of the 5-man team formula. And that's apart of the whole spiel of those kind of shows, in a way.

I'm not against some tweaking of the basic design, but what's shown in those concept pics is too much. Too bio-tech, not robotic, IMHO. And don't get me started on the Bay-formers either...

    @Mr. DJ
Your right, it is concept art. Thing is though, your gonna have to figure most of the actual Lion/Voltron/Robeast stuff is gonna be full CGI. I would tend to think it won't be too much of a stretch to develop off of the art here.

    Thank you for the time...
Well like you said, you grew up with this stuff, and if this movie comes out it's main market will probably be the kids who are growing up watching the Transformers movies, so why not go with the aesthetic that they are used to.

Now personally I love this sort of aesthetic, because to me a robot is an incredibly complex piece of machinery, and the visual complexity should reflect that. It also probably helps that the main giant robot series I grew up with as a kid was Mechwarrior, which always treated the robots like practical weapons of war, and wasn't afraid to use less humanoid appearances if they acted better on the battlefield.

What it all boils down to is what your target audience is used to.

  3. ARGH! Why must this be on digital cable?!?! And why can't I get digital cable in my dorm!? Yeah I suppose I can always find it online but that...makes me feel kind of scummy.

On a more on topic note, the voice talent for this series seems amazing. I mean just listen to Stephen Blum's Starscream voice! That alongside Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and Dwayne Johnson? WIN.
  4. Personally the problem I have with most "end game" content is that it lacks...well, an end. Hell, that's true of all the content in this game, as no matter what herculean feats your character accomplishes or what titanic foes they slay the status quo always remains the same.

Now, I realize it has to remain this way for a number of very valid gameplay reasons. However, I do think there are ways to add content that adds a sense of closure to the game, or at least to a single character. What I would really like to see with end game content are tasks that truly bring an end to your character's story. Content that would allow you to confront a final foe, defeat them in a spectacular fashion, and then allow your character to essentially leave the world, knowing they have left it a better (or if you are a villain, worse) place. Now while outright deleting characters is kind of extreme, I'm sure you could find numerous ways in-canon to allow players to continue with their favorite characters even if they have "left", be it cloning or alternate universes or something entirely different.

Figuring out how to actually DO all this without completely screwing over the gameplay side of things is another matter entirely, but if our dev team has proven one thing over the years, its that they are capable of pulling off countless feats previously deemed impossible.
  5. He's pricey, but you can get him here: Bigbadtoystore
  6. So I recently got to fight Protean for the first time as my KM/SR scrapper, and didn't really know what to expect going into it. I just figured I would waltz up to him, pop all my inspirations and mash the 1-5 keys until he died, just like every other EB. So I do just that. The first thing I notice is that "boy, this guy sure has a lot of defense", but continue to pound away. And then I see "PROTEAN IS READYING HIS POWER SIPHON! GET AWAY!" appear, and have just enough time to think "what the hell does that mean?" before I have no endurance, he has healed up to full health, and I am tasting the floor.

I tried again, and tried to keep my distance whenever he fired off the siphon. No good. I do manage to get him down to about 25% before he KO's me again. Finally, after another two attempts, I head to ouro, load up on insps, use my mission TPer to get back in, and do the old "jump around like a flea on Amphetamines" routine while smacking him in the face until he died.

I let out a triumphant whoop, and realized that that was probably the most fun I had had soloing an Elite Boss in years.

Why can't more Elite Bosses be like this? I love having to use some actual strategy and planning to take these guys down rather than just trading punches to the face until one of us keels over. Would it be possible to add some of these tactical wrinkles to old elite bosses? I would love to see Nemesis for example split into ten duplicates when he hits 75, 50, and 25% health and make you guess the correct one in ten seconds or else all the fakes charge you and explode. Or maybe have Doctor Vahzilok drop icky tumor blobs all over the place that you must avoid or contract wasting disease. Or have Requiem be tailed by a slow moving invulnerable Nictus that you must lure him away from in order to damage him.

Little things like that would make Elite Boss and Archvillain encounters so much more memorable and fun, and while I am glad to see that the devs have recently started taking all AV's in this direction (Reichsman, Romulus, Lord Recluse, ect.) I wish the old foes would get some retroactive love too. Even if it was just one additional power, just to make things more interesting.

  16. Cool! Hopefully the clouds here in Cleveland will clear up by tonight!
  17. So I'm on the verge of getting a new gaming PC (This one to be precise), but I still need a new monitor for it. Preferably I would like something with built in speakers and at least 17 inches. The only caveat is that it has to be around 100 dollars or less. I can go up to around 120 or so, but no higher than 150. Any suggestions?
