Right but...
[ QUOTE ]
You need to get hit by several critters (preferably bosses) at the same time and will probably die by the burst damage but you can hit the 1.0 fury mark.
[/ QUOTE ]
So I was just assuming it's a miss type, but I was hoping for clarrification. -
Darn it! So even if we right click and see 99/100, the little Fury bar is set at 90? >.< Rawr! Why?
Oh well...
So to reach the 100 Fury, we would need the bosses to hit us, or is that a miss type to mean that we need to be swung at? -
Well, higher level mobs yeild higher SMASH, so facing the Greens and Greys could have absolutely caused the problem to be skewed a bit. So IIRC, if you were to face several purple conning enemies, and managed to survive, you would have max fury. I know I once managed to get ever so close once because I over aggroed against some reds and managed to get to the graphic representation of .95 (still said .9) worth of Fury, so I know it's possible... just really friggin hard and thus effectively impossible (highly unlikely and improbable) to happen in casual play.
-
That, is some very nice base set up there! >.< That drives me into envy! If our base wasn't so determined to be so raidable, I would LOVE to have a base like that!
Very nice set up! Post those into the Base Construction section (off the main forum page) and they'll be happy as a clam to see 'em! Very well done! -
Arinara hit it on the head, and while I was sleeping last night (this morning?) and it looks like you might have some things in the way. There could be some decorative items on the wall, or along the wall, that are preventing the doorways from being open.
Just move, or simply remove, any items that could prevent the placement of a doorway there, and you should be fine.
And btw, you should totally take some screen shots of that room from the inside and post it down in the Base Construction section in the "Show Us Your Sexy Base Pictures" because from what I can see there, it's uber sexy!
EDIT: Duh, one last thing before I forget! You don't have to clear a pathway for BOTH doors leading in or out, but just one will suffice. So you can selectively clear which way you want your room to basically point, and that'll give you some control! -

I'm not entirely sure what to think of someone saying this on an online forum for discussing a computer game. Thank you, and good luck on badge #271?

I think this was, officially, a very nice burn. -

It's 8 which means if you remove the choke point then you'll have 7 and not enough to be raid worthy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why do people assume that everyone knows everything? -
[ QUOTE ]
She's right. Instead of putting a choke point in there, you could squeeze in a second control room for 100 K or so, but you would have to use another 1x4 room.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you don't need to put a second control room there...
Arg, you don't have to put <anything> there. You can affectively remove that choke point, and it won't matter, because you can add a Doorway between the teleport chamber and energy room! -

Caps suck even more than I thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, while i understand that you don't like them, do keep in mind that they can be the difference between surviving a Raid and not. After all, if the Raiders manage to destroy your Generator, then those things will allow you to continue to res in your base. They'll continue to provide the Control you need for your base to function. They can generate the energy for your defenses. They aren't, by far, perfect, but they are still useful, just not in the way you intended. -
[ QUOTE ]
Squeezing things into the smallest plot by using a Choke Point is 2X.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay people, let me spell it out, since "Tetris Is Fun" didn't do it...
You don't have to use the Choke Point. I swear. Take it out. See that space between the Teleport Chamber and Energy Terminal? A door can be there. Now all you do is swap places between the Energy Terminal and the Containment Alcolve, have the Control Room connect to the -new- placement of the Energy Terminal, and you're set.
It is entirey possible to get a Raidable base, with the 3x3 Teleport Chamber that doesn't cost you "2X", but just X. I promise.
I'll be digging around, and the next update will give pics of possible Raidable Bases using the minimum. It's 100% possible to make that base without the Choke Point. I was just using it as an example because I liked how he had set it up, and it uses one of each room (except decorative). -
Oh I agree, it's fairly expensive, and small SGs might want to avoid such a thing as the choke point, but my point is that it's possible to have just the same. And again, the size of the first two Teleporter rooms don't change, so it's not cheaper to have the 2x2 room over the 3x3.
And I didn't give this for absolute, but to show that it's possible to have a fairly large base, that's Raidable, for the small plot. That, and the 3x3 can hold both the Raid Teleporter and the standard Teleporter a lot easier. -
Darn it, you're making me give a Pre-View...
I was going to release this with my next update to the Guide, but I'll go ahead and let it out now.... Jerks...

And...
The Important Part
It's possible to have the Tech Raid Teleporter in the basic Plot, so feel free to do so. Just because it's hard, doesn't make it impossible! Tetris is fun!
[ QUOTE ]
Only the Tech Raid Teleporter requires a 3x3 room. The Arcane one fits into a nice cheap 2x2 room.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would also like to take this moment to point out that while the Arcane Raid Teleporter will fit in a 2x2, it limits which doors, and how many, you canhave from that room. Also, the "nice cheap 2x2 room" doesn't fly with me, because if you noticed, I mentioned (and this is fact) that the 3x3 and the 2x2 Teleporter rooms cost the exact same.
And thus, this statement...
[ QUOTE ]
If you use a Tech Raid Teleporter, you need to go up to the next larger plot size, which is several million more Prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
...becomes false! Yay!
Post Script- I just wanna give major thanks to those of you who have posted here, asked me questions, linked my Guide, and given it stars! It's only been up for a little bit, but it's been a whole lot more successful then I thought possible! Big holiday kisses to you all! (those nice big half pound chocolate kind you get from Hershey Park. Unless your cute. Send pictures to be judged for real kisses :-p) -
[ QUOTE ]
Do capacitors work outside of raids? If so, that would be a great boon for us smaller sgs - sure, the workbench/teleporters/rez rings may only work for a minute at a time, but at least you can get them up and running a quarter million Prestige sooner if they'll run off a cap while you save up for a real generator.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm... Tough one. I don't believe so, but of course, I haven't tested any raids yet, so I could be wrong
What I would suggest though, is actually working for the Power room and Generator before anything else. It'll seem like a step back if your SG already has an unpowered Workbench and Control room, but you can't have a decent base without decent power.
>.>
So in answer, I do not believe those little capacitors work outside of raids, so no, it would be much better ot have an actual Generator (and get capacitors when you're ready to become Raidable). -
Hmm... I can't say I'm having that issue, but I also haven't tried it. I'll log on after work and see what's what. I've been meaning to move some of those green glowy crystals for a couple days, now's as good a time as any...
I'll let you know, but don't hold your breath, it'll be a while before I get home from work! >.< -
[ QUOTE ]
Btw you can see who has how much Prestige....just pull that right part of the supergroup menu a little more to the right. It's all there.
[/ QUOTE ]
*coughs politely*
[ QUOTE ]
Now, Prestige isn't yours, per say, but it belongs to your Super Group. When you earn Prestige, it goes straight into the SG's pot where it's now impossible to tell which one or two was yours. In the Super Group menu, to the far right is a list of numbers under the Prestige Column. While that number tells how much of the Prestige you earned for your SG, you can not ever get it back from them. Once you earn it for your SG, you can't leave and take it with you because it's not yours. The Prestige column is there for a number of reasons. Bragging rights and to show who's been earning it.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Welcome back! If you're reading this, then you must have seen my first segment involving the basics to bases. If so, you'll remember that it was a little intro, nothing more, nothing less. Well this segment will be more in depth, just a smidgen. I'll be covering...
Getting Sent to your Room
You have a plot of land connected to the world by some blue swirly portal thing. Well what now? Well let's look at what we have!
The first room you get is the Secret Entrance Room. In there, you can place any number of the Decorative items, or even move the Secret Entrance itself.
The next rooms on the list are the Decorative rooms. In there, you can place rooms starting at 150,000 Prestige for a Studio. A nice little 3x3 square that you can fill with Decorative Items and even an Anchor for Items of Power. The largest Decorative room you can place is a 9x9 for (guess what) 150,000 Prestige! That's right! For the same price, you can get any size of Decorative room! What an exciting deal for those RPers or bases who just want a nice room or nine to hang out in!
Next in line for rooms are Energy rooms. This is where you go to place items that create energy. In here, I'll talk about the standard room, the smallest and cheapest. For the 2x2 Energy Room, you pay 150,000 Prestige. In there, you can place one (1) Energy supplier. Be it Tech or Magic, you get one and only one! The Energy supplier will cost your SG 225,000 Prestige, but will provide your base with 1,000 units of Energy and be able to connect to two Auxiliary items.
Well now we have power, but what to do with it? Why, we should visit the Control room! This is the place where you make and place items to Control your base. Without it, anything you make will refuse to work. The basic Control room costs 100,000 Prestige and give you a simple 2x2 room. Inside the Control room, you can place 1 Control unit, 4 Auxiliary, and 1 anchor. Useful stuff in there! The basic Control unit will net you 50 Control and cost your SG 150,000 Prestige. There are several Auxiliary items for this room, and each one with varying cost and Control provided. Remember, Control items need power to work!
How to defend these nice places you already have? Why, with the Defense rooms of course! Defense rooms create a kind of choke point that can house Defense items. Anyone walking through there is going to have a tough time dealing with things like the Chain Gun, Energy Beam, and what ever your SG makes with the Work Tables! The basic Defense room is a Choke Point and will set you back by 1,500,000 Prestige. That's a lot! O.o Once you have a Choke POint, you can place up to 2 Defense Items, an Unlimited number Auxiliary Items, 1 Battery and 1 Anchor. Good stuff! Careful though, the standard defense items only do Low Damage. So check into making the Upgraded Defense weapons, which will do more damage and survive longer in fights.
Getting to place to place, always a pain, huh? Especially that whole zoning thing. Honestly, if only there was a way to have, say, a Beacon for certain zones and some kind of Teleporter thing that would get you to those zones fast. Why, we do! We have the Teleport Champer! That's right, for the low, low price of 150,000 Prestige, you two can own a nice little 2x2 or even a 3x3 Teleport Champer! They both allow 1 Battery, 2 Teleporters, Unlimited Teleport Beacons, and 1 Anchor. Not to shabby, huh? The Basic Teleporters, which allow you to travel to Zone Beacons (gained as a Super Group Badge) are made from Salvage, while the Raid Teleporter will cost your SG 75,000 Prestige, and will require a 3x3 Teleporter Room or larger to house it! It's a big one!
That's right, it's time to get to work! And what beter place then, you guessed it, a Workshop! The basic Workshop costs you 100,000 Prestige and gives you a 2x2 square that can hold 2 Workshop Tables, Unlimited Auxiliary Items and 1 Anchor. This is just the basic one, which is decent enough. The larger Workshop will cost you 400,000 Prestige (that's right, four times as much) for a 3x4 room that can only hold one extra table. What a deal! >.<
Out on a mission? Get your butt handed to you? Hate the idea of heading to the hospital to show off your bruises? In a PvP zone and those damned Gankers won't let you just leave that hospital? Well head to the Infirmary and let your own base patch you up! For a simple 150,000 Prestige you can get a 2x2 square plot that lets you have 4 Medical Items (resurection circles), Unlimited Auxiliary Items, and 1 Anchor! Watch out though, the Basic Reclaimer may only cost 10,000 Prestige, but they'll only heal you to 25% as well! Watch out for that!
Want to house an Item of Power? Want to have a place to show off that Anger Monument or Monument of Iron? Well now you can! With your very own Vault! Watch out, they spit! The lowest costing Vault is a Containment Alcove, and you'll pay 250,000 Prestige for one of those babies! And with it, you can hold 1 Item of Power! Yup, just one! But boy is it worth it! Increased XP gain, increased damage, Psycic Damage Resistance, or even increased debt repayment! Nothing says, "I'm a stud" like your very own IoP!
And Now You Know
Well that covers each of the rooms, and the basics of what can go in them, and how much you can expect to pay! I managed to build a simple base (bare basics, smallest plot, smallest rooms and fewest items) and it all functions. It wasn't cheap, about 4 million Prestige went into it to gain the basics of a base (plus and minus a few things like a Raid Teleporter and added a Sheild Generator in the Choke Point for kicks, looks cool) and keep it functioning. I highly advise anyone looking into making a base to sneak into the Test Server and see what it's all about! It's some useful stuff in there, and they give you slightly over 36,000,000 Prestige to toy with! So baring the most expensive plots and the most amazing items, you can plan and design your own, working, base!
Best of luck to you all out there, and catch me next time, when I look delve into the world of Salvage to make Base Items! After all, it's your base, why not live there? -

Actually, the captain can be summoned with any combination of elements, but his powers will differ (for example, without "air" he cannot fly). Extented time without an element in his makeup will begin to change his personality.
In his origional incarnation, Captain Planet was created with the four elements, earth wind water and fire. The resulting personality was downright dangerous, and could not see the value in life. The modern Captain Planet has the "fifth element" of heart to add a more human personality.
[/ QUOTE ]
That sounds REALLY cool. I don't remember ever seeing that one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is it wrong of me to be more interested in the Captain Planet history then the Outcast's? >.<
Great work though! I did like the indebth view of Frostfire... poor kid... -
I'm more then a little sure this is how rent works, but with the 15th coming up relatively soon, I'll test on it more.

[ QUOTE ]
Not in a group big enough to play around with the base creation stuff on live, but I did check it out in beta.
I believe the difference between hidden & secure base plots is in the types of rooms you can purchase. IIRC secure base plots allow you to buy rooms that can contain defensive items in addition to their main purpose. (Otherwise you can only place defensive items in the security hallways.) In beta, hidden base plots didn't let you purchase those kinds of rooms.
That's my recollection, someone with more current information should correct this if it's no longer true.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks a tonI thought that's what it was, but I didn't want to delve into it for this section of the guide... The next section should be out next week (maybe this weekend if I cut into my CoV play time) and I plan to put more focus on the individual rooms, including what's needed to run a base, what rooms and certain items cost, and how placement of items and rooms can make building and deleting and editing your base tough!

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks -
Welcome to my, Lil_Miss', Guide to Bases! In this guide, I hope to go over everything from Rent, to Base Objects, to Prestige and Base Thematics!
Why am I writing this Guide to Bases? Because I like them! I don't know why, but to me, Bases are a wonderful object that Super Groups can use and contribute to! Now before I go into the fun parts of Bases and Building them, I get to cover the not so happy parts... >.>
Bases are a CoV Exclusive Option. That means, if you have City of Villains on your account, you can access Bases from CoV or CoH. Should you not own CoV, but just CoH, then you can not access bases. I know, it's depressing, but it's the way it is. This can lead to akward moments when some members of the SG have CoV, but others do not. The only thing that can be done in this situation is to encourage those who do not have CoV, to gain it so they to may enjoy all the base privilages!
Prestige and You
Bases are built using a little something called Prestige. This is some number your SG has that can be earned only two ways. Defeating foes in Super Group Mode, or a direct transfer of Influence / Infamy (here on out known as "inf") into Prestige! The current exchange rate for Inf to Prestige is about 500 : 1. So for every 500 Inf you pay, you earn your SG 1 Prestige. Pretty steep, huh? Well, it's not that bad and could be a lot worse.
Now, another way (kind of a third way, but not really) to earn Prestige, is to gain members! That's right, for the first 15 people to join the SG (including the founder), the SG gains 20,000 Prestige each. So at a maximum, that's 300,000 Prestige just for having people in the SG. Don't even have to be active people, just people. They could be you, and your 14 Alts, but the SG would still get the Prestige. Free money for people? Sign me up!
Now that we're trying to earn Prestige, and the best way to do that is to run around in tights and beat people up in Super Group Mode, how does that work? Well, from level 1 to 50, you will be earning ABOUT the same amount of Prestige. As you level, it will increase by an incredibly small amout. Why? This keeps the level 1's helping out just as much as the level 50s, kill for kill. Now the level 50 will be generating more, if only because they can kill more baddies faster, but the level 1 won't be dragging the SG down.
From level 1 to 32 you will be gaining both Inf and Prestige in SG Mode. But at level 33, you will no longer gain Inf and Prestige, but either or. If you're in SG Mode, then you'll gain Prestige. If you're out of SG Mode, you'll gain Inf. From level 25 to 32, the amount of Inf goes down, and the amount of Prestige starts a VERY slight climb per kill, that you may not even notice. So in the early levels, always always always be in SG mode, after level 25, it's not that bad, but after 32, it becomes a choice to when you want to be in SG Mode or not.
Rent, the Taxing
Ah Rent. That wonderful thing that keeps me from owning that really big flat in the city. Oh. In game. Right. Well Rent for your Base will work differently then in the Real World, so be prepared for some mental adjustments! In the Real World, you pay rent based on what you have. You could earn millions upon millions, but if you rent a small house in the country, you won't be paying much rent. Or you could earn a couple thousand a month and attempt to pay several thousand a month for that expensive flat in the city with the nice corner view and open living room.
But in CoH and CoV land, you pay Rent based not only on how big your base is, or what is in it, but also how much liquid assets you have! "Why is this," you ask? Well it's simple! They allow us to sell every base item for full price as opposed to a partial price, like how enhancements work. So if you don't like that couch there, and can't find a good place for it, no worries! You can sell it right back for full value, and there's no harm, no foul! Some little twit in your SG with base editing rights get a little carried away and spent all that Prestige on a Maze of Books Shelves when you were saving up for a work bench? No problem! Sell them back at full price!
The down side to that is when Rent comes due, you're paying for what you own, and what you COULD own. How is it related? It prevents people from abusing the system and selling nearly everything in the base right before paying rent (for full value), paying the now small rent, and then building the base back up again. So what does this mean for you?
It means rent is, on a smooth scale, goes from 0% at 0 Prestige to 1% at 1,000,000 Prestige. From there, it goes up to 2% at around 14,000,000 Prestige and 3% at around 69,000,000 Prestige. The maximum the rate is 3.8% at around 170,000,000 prestige. Now since it's a smooth scale, it means that you'll pay a fraction of a percent between 0 and 1 Million Prestige on Rent Day if you're between those two numbers.
So where do you pay this? Well, go see the NPC who you would go to to create a Base, and if you're high enough in rank, you can pay the Base's rent! Woohoo! You can give out hard earned Prestige to make sure that your stuff keeps working!
But wait! What if you don't want to pay Rent? What if you want to fight the system!? Well you can! If you don't pay rent, or are late in doing so, certain items in your base will turn off. They'll still be there, but you can't use them. Those items are things like the Super Computer (who gives out SG missions) and the Raid Teleporter, and most importantly for those PvPers, the Base Defenses! That's right! Paying late on your rent could lose you an Item of Power! Also, Rent won't accumulate over the months that you don't pay it. So not paying for three months won't make you pay three months of rent. But it will be slightly higher because your SG will still be gaining Prestige. And remember, it charges you Rent based on how much Prestige your SG has!
The Place You Stay
So now you know how you gain Prestige, and how Rent is charged... But what about this Base thing you've heard about? Well, you should get one! To do that, see the Super Group Registration (also the place you pay Rent and create the SG) and tell them you want to make a Base! And poof! You get one!
It's only a 2x2 Square at the start, but it contains the Secret Enterance (blue swirely portal) and you can fill it with any amount of Decorative Items that you can fit in there. From this room, you can build outward and create... a base! There are several types of rooms you can build, and I'll do my best to go over them all for you!
So, you walk into the base, and you happen to have Base Editing Capabilities, well in that opening room, a little window pops up. It has three buttons (yay buttons!). It reads...
Edit Base
Add Personal Item
Upgrade Plot
Each one lets you do something similar or small. If you don't have Base Editing Powers, you only see Add Personal Item
I'll go ahead and start with Edit Base, because it's both at the top, and the one I want to focus on here and now... Once you click Edit Base, your screen changes and you now have only three windows.
On the top left is a window that gives details on the room you're currently in / targeting.
On the top right is a window that gives details on the Item or section of room your targeting.
On the bottom is a window that gives details on what you can purchase.
You'll probably mostly find yourself using the bottom and right windows, while the using the left window occationally for details such as what you can place and what you can't.
The bottom window has four buttons...
Create Room
Pick Style
Place Item
Current Room
Create Room lets you, ta da, create rooms for your Base! The types of rooms varie, and are listed as Tabs across the bottom window, and they are...
Doorway - Lets you change where the doorway is that goes into a room.
Decorative - No function except for decorative items. Cheap for the space
Energy - You need power for your base so things in it will work!
Control - You need control for your base so things in it will work!
Defense - For hallways and such that are defensive. For PvP.
Transport - For Telepads and Raid Teleporters!
Workshop - For Work Tables and Forges.
Medical - You can place Medical Pads here and Res at your base instead of the Hospital
Vault - For keeping Items of Power!
Within each of those tabs, is a bunch of rooms of various size, cost, and benefits that you can place.
After that comes Pick Style! This button is a totally cosmetic change, and really only adds to the flavor of a base. >.> I personally like the Miyuki style.
Then comes the Place Item! While in Base Editing Mode, you're running around the base, and the Items you can place in a room, change with which room you're in! In the Control Room, you can place Control items in addition to the standard decoration. In the Power Room, you can place Generators and Circut Breakers. In Decorative Rooms, you can only place, you guessed it, Decorations. Some rooms that can be built are Defensive in nature, and allow you to place a Defense Item. If you plan on Raiding, you best be thinking about getting atleast one of those! Nothing says "Suprise!" like a Turret in the Control Room!
The final button is Current Room, and it gives a listing of all the items in the room! That makes it easier to mass sell things, or if you need to select that tiny phone or stack of papers to move it. Pretty useful for selling items and finding where they are.
Now, keep in mind that most items in your base require Control and Power to operate. You can place those work tables, but they won't do anything until you have some Control. And that Mainframe won't work unless you have a Generator. So the first two rooms you might want to look into is the Power room and the Control room. Atleast, if you want it operational. If you just want the decorations, then you won't need either!
Items Anyone Can Buy!
Now let's back out of Edit Base, and take a look at Add Personal Item. Now, anyone can Add a Personal Item, and it looks identicle to the Edit Base, except the bottom window has only one button, "Exit". To the right of it, is a horrizontal scrolling section that will have all the Personal Items you "own" in there. They'll have a picture of the item, the name of the item, and the price of the item.
Personal Items cost Prestige, and sinse anyone can place them, anyone can spend Prestige. But be careful! If you sell a Personal Item, the plans don't go back to the person who built it! And how do you get those plans? Why, from the work tables and Salvage! What you are building from the work tables are Personal Items, and you can place them for a cost. Just make sure to check with the higher ups in yoru SG before going around and placing things willy nilly, because none of the items you can make are decorative. Some of those Personal Items that you can make (Mission Computer, Inspiration Tree, etc) come from Super Group Badges! So get in SG mode, and stay there! The Mission Computer you get from Lackeying SG members while in SG Mode. The Inspiration Tree you gain from Healing others while in SG mode.
That's actually about all you need to know about Personal Items.
Bigger Homes and Gardens
Upgrade Plot. This is the most expensive option in the Base Editor! Clicking that button will give you two windows. The bottom window and the top right window. The bottom window shows you what kinds of plots you can upgrade into, and how big they are, and how much they cost. There are two types of plots. Hidden and Secure. I haven't figured out the largest difference between the two, at this time, but given a run to the test server, I may have more information on it in the future.
The second cheapest plot upgrade from the standard one you gain costs 1,653,861 Prestige, and adds another 3x9 section onto the end. Yeah, told you it was expensive.
The Upper Right window will give you all the stats of the selected Plot. It basically covers how many of each room you CAN have, not fit, but can have. It lets you know before you buy if you can even make a third Control Room for your base, or if you have to live with just two.
This covers, I think, the basics to building your base, managing your Prestige, and dealing with Rent. While I can't help but feel like I very well might have left something out, I can't for the life of me remember what! But if you know something I forgot to mention, or see something that's wrong, please PM me and I'll change it in a future update! -

I almost cried when I saw the 500+ damage shoot over his head and his HP drop to nothing. I love my SMASH, and I wouldn't trade it for all the minions in the game! -

...I don't see a giraffe; however, that would be a very good screenshot.

Total Focus Total Focus is complete mastery over Energy Melee. This is a very slow, but incredibly devastating attack that can knock out most opponents. Due to the exhausting nature of the Focus, you will leave yourself Disoriented for a short time after performing this attack.
# This thing is slower then propel and disorients you after you use it. That being said I still take it and 6 slot it. It does massive damage and is a really strong disorient. I recommend 2-3 accs, 3 damage, and 0-1 disorient.

Last I checked, this did NOT dissorient you. THe Brute version also mentions it dissorients you, but that does not either. Double check to make sure it actually does.
