I have never encountered an sruvivability issues with my DA/Fire tank. It took me a while from going to a Stone to a Dark tank. I have put equal amounts of influence in the two tanks and the DA is far better IMO. I have no problem with holding LR on the STF with him (not without the use of some insps or an EMP) but even on my stone tank I need an EMP until a couple of the towers come down. If you want massive agrro control on a team Fire is your best best. Three AoE's plus 3 available taunt auras (I went with cloak of fear and OG). With conserve power or Physical Perfection end and some sets, you shouldnt have a problem with end. I sit with 4.17 recovery one 123.05 end.

If you have the kin with you all the time I would go with with Fire or SS, I say fire first because the downtime of from Rage crashes. With constant FS the dmg buff from rage won't be as important.
For a Secondary

I would wait to take any of the fitness pool until after L20 since WP gets QR at L20. I would also take follow up as soon as you can since that's your BU. I would also think about taking the fighting pool as well.

Aidself is great if you plan on soloing AV's or doing PvP. But, if you plan on farming I would skip it. Since you can easily survive without it, not to mention its kind of hard to use it in the middle of 17 angry baddies. I take the fighting pool on all of my brutes/tanks. I would also look into Darkest Night for the extra bit of survivability from the -tohit and -dmg. WP can run it 100% of the time with stamina QR and a bit of IO's.
I would recommend learning your own play style for your toon, and make your build around it. By doing it that way you might save yourself a lot of inf by buying the enhancements you want the first time around. And, as you can see all the builds that were on this post were fairly different from one another. -

This is how i have my em/wp brute sloted, when fighting one enemy with no accolades you are at 67.1 hp regen, and with the +hp accolades with one enemy you sit at 77.1 hp regen. I mostly use this guy for soloing since I find WP brutes are a weak for the higher lvl sf's (unless you get major buff's). As far as what io's you should take I would use at least 3 numis in RttC for the regen, and hp sets. Also, I like Touch of Death since as a WP you want to have people in melee range to fight you. Hopefully this helped you out a little bit even tho its not the same primary... -
Quote:I didn't even notice it, thank you for that. I haven't built a tank without putting purples in it, so it's kinda hard for me to count up all those 5%'s. I do think the extreme recharge works out great on a DA tank since they can take just about all you can throw at them as long as your heal can keep up with it. At least that's what I have learned with how I play my tank.Mr. Eian, you should post with a link or data chunk so people can look at it more easily. Some of us can see the Matrix, some of us - like me - cannot. I like pretty colors and graphs and shiny stuff. Looks to me like you are going for some extreme recharge. I could be wrong, but that's how it looks before my eyes start crossing. Also, you blew the set bonus cap for 5% recharge.

Quote:When did tanking become boring? It's always fun to be the person that holds the teams lives in their hands : )Am I the only one who has found a renewed joy playing their tankers on test? With the new mission difficulty options, the ability to get all those spawns on single missions has made it fun for me to tank again. Of course, I never was one who asked others to pad a mission for me, now we don't have too. I think I'll be playing my tanks again, as they had really fallen out of favor with me recently. A pleasant and unexpected change to gaming I didn't expect from I16. Thanks to the developer who thought that one up. It's a winner.

I have a DA/Fire tank... I love the Dark Armor set for tanks. It's got great res to most types of dmg, yet you are still have mobility unlike Stone. I found on the STF it's easier for my to keep aggro on GW than a Stoner since I can stay out of range of her Dark Regen. If it were me I would get rid of flight simply because I find CJ is a much better mesh with DA than hover. Also, Taunt earlier in the career is nice for team survivability (easy for the emp to heal one target than 7) Oppressive Gloom is a great power especially slotted with Absolute Amazement one of the cheaper purples plus with the -tohit proc on it makes you feel like a SR with dmg res.
This is how I would have my DA/SS slotted if I wasn't going to be using Armageddon in Stomp, and Apocalypse in Laser Beam Eyes.

Well now my Fire/Psy will just collect dust until I can figure out if I'm going to delete him or not and my Plant/Fire has gone down on damage out put, slower recharge and now sits at a constant empty blue bar.
Yeah... thanks for the "buff"
[/ QUOTE ]
I just respec'd my Fire/Psi and took Scream instead of subdue. I had to lose a power and can't lose PSW since i invest millions in the Arma set. But, I am debating on taking my purple sets off of my fire/psi dom too since I can farm faster with my EM/WP brute. Sad, when he only has 2 aoe's, and 50% recharge. Outside of the villain farm toons getting borked by the brilliant devs I would say the dominator is still a pretty great AT. That is if you are a little whiney child that complained about them and screwed everyone else. All in all, Epic Fail on the so called buff. Oh, and by the way... While we are giving buffs to great farming toons you might wanna look at controllers. They seem to be pretty good at lvling people! -
Just out or curiousity did Castle say anything about the effectiveness of a kin controller? If CoH devs mess with PSW with Going Rogue I imagine that Fire/Kins will become even more popular. Although everything mentioned isn't set in stone, I imagine some "major" changes are coming. Not that they are needed IMO.
Thankfully I still have my Fire.Kin since vills and heroes will be able to play together in the Going Rogue...
But, I imagine Psi secondaries for doms are gonna suck if castle has anything to do with it. I mean just take a look at what he did to PvP.
