  1. ((Ah, well, OK then.))

Jake's shields were not to be taken lightly. They were possibly the most advanced portable technological method of defense in the world today. However, even they couldn't keep up their full effectiveness under the strain of both an energy disruptor, and a chemical explosion. The shields wavered under the stress, and, while they didn't give out completely, bits of the chemical explosion did get through. This was no problem, though. Very little skin showed on any Arachnos soldier, and in addition to their individual shields, no harm was done.

Jake pulled out six more of his small disk-like devices, throwing it on the ground and porting in a railgun himself. The combined portal and teleportation technology in the device allowed it to bypass the jamming field and bring in the heavy artillery. Soon enough, without the hail of bullets ever ceasing, Jake and his minions were operating the deadly weapons.

Without ever missing a beat, the sea of bullets changed to six identical rails flying toward the Ultra.

"Shut up. Less talky, more fighty."
  2. ((Hey, Ac, I think there's a TP jammer field up. Just saying.))
  3. Much like Cynic's shielding, the web-nade simply hit the shield and slid down, doing very little to actually detain anybody. The thermocannon, on the other hand, was quite a different story. Literally dropping everything else, including the gun he himself was using, he began to focus his suit's energy into a rather large forcefield, which, thankfully, albeit with some difficulty and wavering, deflected the vast majority of the beam. This wasn't to say that not all of it got through, but not nearly in the amount and with the speed needed to keep any one of them from simply stepping out of the way.

After this, he barked yet another order, something about getting a railgun from the armory. Gifting a Battle Drone of his with a personal forcefield, it followed his orders to the letter. Stepping out of the protective shielding, hoping that its own would be enough, it rushed off the scene, straight to the nearest storage room the base had.
  4. Tamesis was thrown back, not nearly having expected such speed and force from such a creature. The force of the blow blew through his forcefield, and the razored hand made mince of his armor and, now exposed, torso. Even as he flew toward the ground, his med-porter activated, teleporting him away to the nearest infirmary before he even touched the ground.

    -----

Jake nodded, not necessarily in Cynic's direction, but certainly to his plan of action. "Jammer's operation, by the way." He shouted, definately to Cynic, this time.

Anyway, after his evaluation, it was rather obvious that the Ultra was the largest threat, by far, in the immediate area. In addition, his visor filtered out much of the debris that would otherwise obscure his vision, revealing that all ranged attacks had failed. He almost shouted in frustration until, miraculously, he noticed a few gashes on the side of the creature's head where Tamesis had made contact.

Jake Walsh was not a stupid man. It was obvious that this creature had a similar sort of shield around him, deflecting all things energetic, much like Jake's own. However, this creature was subsceptible(sp?) to one major energetic force that literally almost every living organism had at its disposal.

"Switch to bullets!" He barked, his bots already rotating their firing arms to accomodate the new ammunition. He smirked.

    "Fire at will."

The creature would have found that not only Jake's bots, but any soldiers who were still bothering to fight the Ultra, had switched to regular lead bullets. From all barrels focused on the beast, aerodynamic pieces of metal flew toward it at top-speed.

    *blink*

    I approve of this idea.

  6. Tamesis nodded and teleported directly to the side of the creature's head, choosing to ignore Cynic's insulting orders. Encasing himself in black flame yet again, he began to wail on the right half of the creature's face. While its effect would be questionable, at least it gave him something to do.

    -----

"You rang?" Jake said, teleporting into the base with another batch of Bane Spiders and his Attack Drones to boot. Following suit as he appeared, all fire powered was directed at the creature's mouth, while Jake personally glanced around in order to get a quick view of the situation.

In any case, even if hte creature was as powerful as it looked, it was certainly going ot be feeling a literal wave of plasma and laser fire hitting its face.
  7. "Oi, don't hit me on the head!" Tamesis replied, however, nodding as he accepted Cynic's plan. As soon as he stepped toward it, though, a deep grumbling interrupted him. "[censored]." He muttered, attempting to pull the detention captured draconian and saurian toward the portal. "Better hurry the Hell up. That sure didn't sound like a care-bear."

    -----

Jake was getting annoyed now. Ever since Cynic radioed him back saying back-up was unnecessary, neither of the two had responded. Deciding to, quote unquote "[censored] it.", he began to trace Tamesis's location himself, eventually locking on to it and making his way toward the nearest teleportation apparatus.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I'd never been sure if I belonged somewhere, and I'm still not 100%, but if it's anywhere at all, then chances are overwhelmingly positive that it's Texas. I like the size of things (not everything, but a good many things are bigger in Texas, it's true), I like the people, and even the climate is hot enough to be to my liking for 2/3 of the year.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does this mean Devious likes me best?
  9. "[censored]." The Arbiter muttered to himself, dropping his head. "[censored]-ing Walsh."

"You seem to underestimate us. We have many more encampments around the planet, all connected by a teleportation network. Force will prove to be pointless, as we'll have a small army here within seconds." He finished, tapping a button on the monitor, threateningly.

This was, of course, a lie.

"However, we are willing to compromise. If you would like to revise your demands, I'd suggest you do it now."

    -----

Jake, however, slipped into the corner of the room, despite its inconspicuousness being questionable. Catching on quickly to the Arbiter's bluff, he pulled out his six-... No, wait, seven. Eight. Nine... Fifteen? He pulled fifteen small disks out of his trench coat pocket, ready to activate them at a moment's notice.

Anybody who'd even heard of Jake's exploits could guess correctly as to the destination of one half dozen of the teleportation beacons, but where exactly would the other nine lead?
  10. "I dunno, some dragon intruder guy and some Malta. Did you just say Cry's been put down?" He retorted, taking the time to hop back up onto his feet and glance around, using the short intermission for some much needed rest. "Already? That seems sort o-" He was cut off but a rather loud screech as metal met metal, the Malta Titan sliding in on its back, followed in turn by more Malta soldiers, shooting off their guns as if it was going out of style.

"Nevermind." He shouted over the cacophony. "I suppose you have some sort of plan?"
  11. Well, as long as we're gloating, I feel I should say I read it all in one go as well. >.>

And yeah, this is having me thinking about what Jake'd tell people to do, as well.
  12. Tamesis smirked, and was about to follow up on his attack when the rod collided with his leg, completely throwing off his already shaky balance. He fell down to the ground, his reflexes, however, allowing him to roll back and onto his feet, putting him in a crouching position.

He then, suddenly, got Jake's message, angrily shouting back, "Jake, mind shutting the [censored] up? Fighting an intruder right now."

    [ QUOTE ]

"Damnation, this place is infested!" a harsh voice roared from the crimson gloom of the Arachnos-styled hallway beyond the CC center, "He's alive - get him out! Dead - leave him! C4 there, there, and there! And someone get into the double-C! Blow through, friendlies out, angels one! Champagne in twenty...!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Infested?!" He shouted back, almost fogetting to let go of the transmission button as he shot up. "Should I point out that this is an Arachnos base, and that you aren't Arachnos?" Frankly, this was mostly out of damaged pride. Tamesis took honor in his position in Arachnos, and, frankly, having some hick of a Malta Gunslinger come in like they owned the place wasn't going to do well for that honor.

Most of the rounds the Malta would have fired at him at that point would simply be deflected off of it by the armor-tight forcefield he had ever-present around him. Odds were, it would take the special rounds only a Gunslinger had to penetrate it to the point of doing damage.

    -----

Jake stood, confused, as he received Tamesis's response. It had cut off at the end, but he was absolutely positive he heard the tell-tale accent of a Gunslinger. And play-back of the message confirmed it, and he silently cursed to himself. "Dammit, Tamesis. Where are you? I'll send back-up."
  13. Excellent arcs, Devious. I'd certainly play them.
  14. "[censored]!" Tamesis shouted as he heard the not-so-subtle bang and crash of an orbital strike and the building it destroyed, respectively. "Was that necessary?"

As soon as he finished that sentence, however, he again teleported directly behind the draconian, and again attempting to strike him. However, his target had changed. Instead of sending a flaming and armored fist towards the head of the intruder, a sweeping kick attempted to knock his feet out from under him.
  15. ((No, no, I was just away for the weekend. Gimme a minute or so to remember what was going on, and the post will come soon.))
  16. ((Wait, I was under the impression that these were the 'One-Shot-and-You're-Dead" Drones. Which is it?

Also, Devious, just as clarification, the target of the orbital strike was the buildling the two were currently fighting in, yes?))

Jake nearly cackled with glee. Not a second after he had received his order, a literal army of Arachnos Drones emerged from the complex.

"Lieutenant C-... No. Cry will die, and the dignity of Arachnos will be restored." He tapped a button on the side of his helmet, attempting to contact his partner so that the two of them could join up with an assault group.

"Tamesis, stop playing around and get out here. We have an ex-lieutenant to assassinate."
  17. Tamesis, while doubting the importance of this particular duel, was not about to turn his back to the enemy and run away. One, because it would, by his code, be deemed cowardly, and not tactically sound like others may have viewed it, and, two, because it simply was not an intelligent manuever. The second he turned around and left, he had no doubts that this... thing, would strike him down without the slighest hesitation.

So, in light of those two points, he remained, set on staying until the dragon either left or was incapacitated.

Now, returning to the fight, he had also noticed that his shield of flame seemed to be warding the draconian away from close combat. However, what he didn't notice was an effective way to counteract this. He was not a ranged fighter unless he was handed some sort of weapon, and even then he preferred to use his own hands. So, as long as the shield remained and encompassed his body, he was stuck at a range due to the different in nimbleness between himself and the creature. Sighing, he reduced his shielding to simply his hands, concentrating the combined might of his flaming shield into the small flames.

The forcefield'll be enough to keep me alright. He thought, again teleporting behind the beast and attempting to punch him in the head.
  18. ((Whoa, Build, first off, one of the big, main rules of the thread was that neither base was penetrable. The Fortress too well defended, the Bastion too well hidden. Secondly, going back to the 'Fortress-has-uber-defense' comment, Arachnos would have enchantments and technological barriers alike to keep porters out, or, in any case, those that weren't friendly.

Unless, of course, you have permission to do that or I missed something rather important regarding the issue, I don't really think you can do that.))
  19. *Lord Recluse sits at home, locked in his room, with only Ghost Widow to keep him company. Generally ignoring her, he frantically glances back and forth between his television and a notebook he has on his desk. He frantically scribbles down name after name into the book, until, suddenly, a man sitting at a desk appears on television with a sign on the desk reading, "Steve S. Tailor".*

TV: We now interupt this broadcast to bring you a special message live from Interpol.

Steve: I am Steve S. Tailor, better known as the world's greatest hero, Statesman. Recluse, I think I have a pretty good idea about why exactly you're doing what you're doing. But let me assure, what you are doing, is EVIL!

LR: ... I... I'm the evil one? I'm the one risking my life to create an ideal world! Those who stand in my way are the evil ones! I'll show you! As long as I have this, *Recluse holds up his notebook*, you can't touch me!

*Recluse proceeds to write down 'Steve S. Tailor' in large capital letters, laughing like a mad-man all the while.*

LR: Too bad you were so stupid, Statesman. This could've gotten interesting. 36... 37... 38... 39...

*The man on television suddenly clutches his chest and collapses. Paramedics immediately rush on scene and take away his body. Recluse laughs again, clearly enjoying his victory, when, suddenly, a capital letter S in gothic font covers the screen.*

S: I... I can't believe it. Recluse... You can actually kill without being at the scene of the crime.

*A look of horror and shock covers Recluse's face.*

S: Well, Recluse, if you really did just kill the man known as Steve S. Tailor, I should inform you that he was a hero scheduled to be discharged at this very hour. He was not the man known as Statesman, as that moniker belongs to me.

GW: Hyuk hyuk hyuk! He got you good there, Recluse.

    LR: Wh... What is this?

S: So, Recluse, why don't you kill me? Come on! Do it!

    LR: ... Damn that Statesman...

S: So... It seems you can't kill me... That's a valuable clue. Thank you. I feel I should return the favor by informing you that, while it was said that this was being broadcast world wide, we in fact only broadcasted in the Grandville region of the Rogue Isles. The fact that you happened to be there was pure luck.

    LR: ... D-... Damn him!

S: I now feel it is only a matter of time before I find you and put you to death. Needless to say, I would love to know how you kill from afar, but, that's something I fan find out after I capture you!

GW: Hyuk hyuk hyuk! He says he'll put you to death, Recluse!

LR: ... Him, put me to death? I have the notebook. As long as he doesn't have that, he can't do anything to me! Statesman, I don't know who you are, but believe me, I will find out who you are and kill you!

S: Recluse, I won't pretend I have any idea who you are, but rest assured, I will find you and bring you to justice.

    LR: Statesman.

    S: Recluse.

    LR: I am...

    S: I am...

    LR/S: Justice!

    ((<3 Death Note.))
  20. The slab the draconian had decided to lean into suddenly fell to the ground in a loud thud, almost as if its support had simply vanished. This, of course, lead him to assume one of two things. A) Tamesis had simply been crushed. However, considering his individual strength and the strength of the battle armor, it was unlikely that he would simply be flattened as such. Or, B) Tamesis really had vanished, and reappeared in some as-yet-unrevealed location.

Which, of course, with Tamesis, wasn't hidden for long.

"Psych." A voice suddenly communicated, its owner opting to deliver a rather powerful slam to the back of the head of its assailant.

Even a quick glance in his general direction would reveal that Tamesis had indeed been damaged by the slab. His breathing for having kept the slab from crushing made it obvious that he was winded, and his face had various scrapes on it. In addition, his suit was now also roughed up, although it remained to be seen whether or not it would effect its performance.

Provided Tamesis's strike actually hit, he would quickly follow up, not wanting to waste any time, and yet again attempt to punch the draconian in the head as it staggered forward.
  21. "Them? With me?" Jake replied, almost seeming insulted. "Far from it, my friend. Those two happen to be wanted by Arachnos."

"Which, speaking of," He began again, turning around and addressing Mortanis, "I can't accept your offer. You see, I'm not a mercenary, and I serve only Arachnos. Now if you'll kindly leave, considering we're not interested, I have to take care of these two. 'Kay?" Rolling his eyes, he looked over his shoulder at the other two, beckoning them to follow him toward the ferry. Brushing past Mortanis, he again began his walk toward Port Oakes.

  23. In fact, Jake had slipped away during the chaos. His primary objective to the Rikti Homeworld effectively finished, he had taken the oppurtunity to return to the small Arachnos encampment. After all, there was no point in remaining with the main group. They would only distract him. As of right now, his goal was to get Arachnos up and on to its feet in a strange and hostile environment, and it was much easier to do that when one was physically able to assist rather than simply ponder the fate of the group.

Groaning from the climb, he eventually made his way to the small hallway, barely catching the elevator as the last of the equipment was moved up and into the chamber.

    [ QUOTE ]
    "Damn that Walsh..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Well, that's certainly not a kind way to speak of the one who made this whole thing possible." He spoke, smirking, his bots already having been teleported back to their warehouse on Prime Earth.

"We're not alone here. That's reason enough to speak that way." The Arbiter spat back, clearly disliking being spoken down to by a boy.

"Yeah, I figured that. I'd say Malta, from what I saw." He replied, the smirk being wiped from his face as he instinctively scratched the back of his head with his right arm.

"If nothing else, they'll certainly make things difficult. How are we on transportation from Prime Earth to Rikti Earth? Still stable?"
  24. Jake stopped dead in his tracks, so to speak, even before the former battle site came into view. His mouth literally hung agape as the blinking message scrolled across his head set, displaying its message with undeniable certainty.

Code Red: Lt. Cry. Mass killing of Arachnos Psi-Ops. No official orders as of yet.

"Just what the [censored] does that arrogant [censored]-ing baby think he's doing?" Jake spoke, too much in shock to actually yell. Even though this hadn't been his division, and despite the fact that he didn't even like the Psi-Ops division that much in the first place, this was still a major blow against Arachnos, and his brain-washing made him completely and unquestionably loyal to Arachnos.

The enemy of Arachnos was an enemy of the Arbiters, and Cry had just made one Hell of an enemy out of himself.

Turning around a literal one hundred-eighty degrees, Jake speedily made his way back to Steel Canyon's Arachnos Outpost with the intention of contacting Arbiter Daos. Next to Recluse, to the Arbiters, his word was law, and any orders regarding the matter would be delivered by him.

    -----

Tamesis received the message while in the midst of combat and, despite his mind being devoid of any sort of brain washing, his was still fairly pissed off at the message. He took it as a slap to the face, and Tamesis wasn't one who the insulter get away completely unscathed. As soon as he finished up here, should his condition and time allow, he would be heading out to hurt one very specific infant.

    -----

Even as the Tribunal discussed Cry's fate, alarms sounded, and a message was displayed within each of their helmets. An eerie hush fell over the room, completely disregarding the sirens.

"G-... Gentlemen." One of them stated, his composure shakily returning. "I believe our meeting here has been proven irrelevant."

With that, the room went into an uproar. Shouts of protest were heard as chairs tipped over from their owners' sudden rise. People screamed, and it would seem as if chaos had taken over before order was finally found.

But despite their unorganized cries of protest, one thing was for certain. They were all in agreement, now. Despite the lack of orders, Cry's punishment was rather obvious.

However, the group waited. They were not so outraged as to forget protocol. The order had to be given first. All anxiously waited, some leaning back and forth, some biting their lips, and some just standing still, but each of them staring at the upper corner of their head set, awaiting the command to bring justice to the traitor.
