Ineffable's timing was perfect enough to allow Jake to appear not half a second later than when he had left, giving him the illusion that the pasty faced villain hadn't gone through the portal at all. Jake took note, but decided not to mention it until he had at least taken in his surroundings.
Needless to say, he was a bit confused about their destionation, however, a quick question to one of their Rikti escorts cleared things up pretty nicely.
Jade Moon, aye? So we're not even on the planet, huh?
He sighed and mumbled the word, "Perfect...", making sure to smother it in sarcasm.
In any case, I need to know the objective, but I can't very well do that with all these people around, can I?
Jake rubbed the bridge of his nose. It was gonna be a long day. -
This is nowhere near as disturbing as some of the stuff I've read, Grey. >.>
But still, this is excellent! Nicely done, and keep it up! -
Hikaru's words troubled Jake deeply, and with good reason.
Are you [censored]-ing kidding me? He already knows?! My God, it's not as if there aren't people here who look even more suspicious than me! And I'm not exactly the most anti-social of the bunch! ... It has to be a bluff, there's just no other freakin' way. I'm kind of frowned upon here for running away from home to join Arachnos, the guy's just trying to upset me, see if he can't get anything out of me. Well, I wont' let him...
Even as this rant was going on in his head, the only outwardly thing that could've possibly revealed his thoughts was a slight frown that had replaced a small smile. He put his hand up to his face, using his thumb and index finger to rub the bridge of his nose in frustration and thought. He sighed as he listened to the babble coming from the technicians and everyone else. From wha the heard, he gathered that the portal hadn't ended up where they'd hoped it would. Chuckling at their (What he supposed was.) mistake, he walked through the portal, satisfied that they had at least identified it as non-hostile. -
Jake darted across an opening in a crouched run as he raced to find a bit of intel. Within the firsty few minutes of his leaving the station, he'd realized that they were probably not going to get this place back easily, especially with this rag-tag team. His objective then had immediatley changed from defending a front to information gathering. They may not be able to win here, but they could find something that could contribute, in any case.
He stopped when he hit a corner and, sliding his goggles over his eyes and switching to night vision, dared a glance around it, finding a small group of Mayhem soldiers. He quickly jerked his head back, muttering a small obscenity as he began to dig into his trenchcoat. He at last found what he was looking for, a small circular device, almost like a Gamecube disc, but with more thickness toward the center and no doughnut hole. Smirking as he pulled it out, he flung it around the corner, hearing it hit with a satisfying clang against a trashcan. He pumped his arm slightly when the standard shouts of 'What was that?' and 'Let's go check it out.' were heard, and he immediately went into that same crouched run against the wall, grinning as his Assault Bot was summoned and promptly bashed some poor sap's head in, its armor giving off sparks as the Mayhem troops' bullets bounced harmlessly off.
The bot would make short work of them, after which Jake would quickly run over and attach another device to it, this time teleporting it back to it's summoning location. He would then promptly pick up his device and get the Hell out of there, as it would most certainly cause more soldiers to come running.
Jake was satisfied with his work, he had taken out a few soldiers and created a distraction in the process. If nothing else, it would make getting around easier for the others for a little bit. -

... Now wait a minute... -
Jake's eye twitched as his face took on a look of pure annoyance. "You're going to let pride get in the way of a mission objective? Even a lowly," He chuckled, "villain, such as myself would help out a hero like you if it aided to the objective." He sighed. "You know what? Screw it, I'll go without stealth." Jake stuck his hands in his pockets and nonchalantly walked out of the tram station, giving a slight wave and a barely audible 'Later.'
-
Jake sighed and strolled out the tram station as well. He lacked any sort of stealth function, so, naturally, he was worried about his effectiveness in this objective, at least to the extent of remaining hidden. Glancing back to his allies, he attempted to remember if any of them had any stealth granting abilities, whether they could bend light or just give him some device, he didn't care.
Almost immediately afterwards, he decided on one Soul Striker, simply for the fact that stealth is almost a staple in tech suits. Walking up to him, he casually asked if he could grand stealth to another person, as he'd probably need it. -
Jake's peripheal(sp?) vision had caught the smile, not to mention the dress, while she was doing it. Smiling back and adding a brief wave as well, he relished in the moment. It'd probably be the only bit of friendliness he'd get, and he'd probably get even less if he wished to go through with Arachnos's plan...

They reappeared inside the old tram station of Kings Row. The railing had long since been torn away by Masters assault strikers to prevents easier movement of troops and supplies, but it was still a location relatively safe from the bombarding dropships.
Steve watched as the others began to appear. As soon as what seemed like everyone was there, he gave the plan. "We need to go out and find out whose forces are leading this attack. Sybil will let us know where to move from there. Split up. If anything happens and we get seperated, meet back at the base with what you know.

Jake gave a slight nod and took a look around the tram station. He sighed as some of his memories from Paragon City came back to him, however, he ignored them after only a second or two and waited for Steve to give the signal to move on. -
Jake safely ignored Grey's advice, hopping up and out of his seat to stroll over to the portal. Performing a double check of his items, he concluded that he was optimal, and decided to lean against a nearby wall until the time came.
-
Damn. Jake immediately thought. That was a mistake. The look on that guy's face didn't leave much room for doubt. He suspects us. Probably the quiet ones. I just have to be thankful that I wasn't the only one.
Jake's face minorly adjusted to take that of a more serious tone. As of right now, he could've screwed over his chances of enacting the plan before it even began, and that's something you don't wanna report to Recluse.
He sighed. It was too late now. Introducing himself at this point would only give more reason for suspiscion, so he just sat back, watched, and listened to the rest of the briefing. -
Jake yawned and took the moment of gathering to survey his traveling companions, still hoping that he'd find someone that he knew, or at least knew of. After a few minutes of scanning and several reassurances that someone he knew must be here, (He assumed it would be extremely boring otherwise.) his eyes finally landed on Penny Arcade, sitting still as stone and awaiting the briefing.
Heh, what luck that she's here. This may turn out to be interesting after all.
Deciding that he'd make himself known after the mission had started, he leaned back in his chair and waited for the big oaf to finish his text messaging. -
Number three. Mainly because I've already joined it and already have a working scheme kinked out for Arachnos. >.>

(>.> *Looks up* Bah. Sorry 'bout that. Was half asleep when I wrote that.

"More or less..." Jake muttered, smirking as he felt his tape recorder yet again. As for now, according to his instructions, he simply needed to get into the Rikti Homeworld. Whether or not the rest of them were ready wasn't important to him.
-
"Thanks. It's appreciated." He said in all sincerity just before he stepped into the portal. He always hated the feeling. Being in two places at once. It's not that he minded going through portal technology; in fact, it had provided him with some pretty interesting stories. It was just... well, let's say that getting there wasn't half the fun.
-
In the midst of the hustle and bustle that naturally comes with pre-mission preperation, there was one person who really didn't seem to be doing much of anything. Indeed, it seemed he was actually chuckling at the frantic nature of the Longbow and Vanguard alike, seeming to enjoy their, as he saw it, unnecessary worry and stress.
On the contrary, as he saw it, they had much more pressing matters to be worried about.
Of course, he couldn't blame them for not knowing about them. Hell, he only had a vague theory for what they were, himself. All he knew is that he was given a small tape recorder with a tape inside and orders to play it after he arrived in the Rikti Homeworld.
He sighed as he felt around in his pocket for it, finally finding it after digging through a pack of gum and some Mentos.
Arachnos is planning something. Can't say what it is now, but I'll know soon enough... Smirking he continued to look on at the other applicants, seeing if he had known any from before. -
"I'll be coming along shortly." Jake casually remarked, giving a slight wave as the two dissapeared into the pit of darkness currently known as King's Row. "Sybil," He started, taking a couple of steps toward the woman, "Can I request some space to store my bots here? It's terribly inconvienant to have them follow me everywhere, and it'd be a lot easier if I could teleport them to and from my location as I pleased." He made a gesture in the direction of his Assault Bot, hoping that it in particular would emphasize his point. "Not so grand for stealth missions..." Jake muttered before continuing.
Jake cleared his throat and continued. "It wouldn't be much trouble. I already have the means to do this, and all I require is a secure place to store them while they're not with me. So whaddya say?" -
(*Reserves spot in RP*

What? It's 3:30 AM here. I'll post tomorrow.) -
"Already done." He said, subconsciously digging in his pocket to make sure that he still had it. "And no worries. It was a secure signal. I'm not sure how advanced their tech is, but not many things I've seen could get into a signal that secure."
-
Jake chuckled at Psycho's outburst, while at the same time noting the truth in his statement.
Seriously, who's this woman think she is? We're the ones that risked our necks in that little assassination operation.
He sighed. No use worrying about it. If there was one thing that he'd learned from his experiences, it was not to piss off management. -
"No." He simply said, not even bothering to glance in his direction. "Normally, I wouldn't care, but these are my only copies right now. No new robots if one decides to fall apart on me."
He chuckled and walked closeor to Soul Striker, next planning on responding to his unfinished insult. Whispering at a volume only Soul Striker could hear, he said, "Look. If I'd stopped to mourn every time a comrade died while I was in the Isles, I wouldn't have survived the first hour. That's not to say I don't give a damn, you just don't need to burst out in tears every time a comrade is lost. We all know the risks."
With that, he openly deemed his bots in decent shape and tossed a small device over to Baliaal. "It's a tracking device. The transmitter is right here..." He said, holding up a small chip in his hand. "I'm going to port back to the base. That should lead you straight to me." Without another word, he pushed the button on the device and dissapeared, his bots going with him. -

Quite.
Next question! -
"... Oh..." Was the only thing Jake could muster up. Not only had he just openly displayed that he was dead wrong, no pun intended, but he had just gotten all emotional over nothing. Blushing very, very slightly, he continued to inspect his minions, pretending to have ignored Baliaal's comment.
-
Jake had realized what Baliaal had mean shortly after he had said it, however, didn't realize who until everyone else did. He gave a quick bow of his head to signify the loss of a, albeit temporary, ally. He quickly snapped out of it though, as he realized that they couldn't stay for long. Noticing that nobody else had stated the obvious, he sighed, deciding on being the one to point it out.
"OK, yes, it sucks that we lost someone, but can you honestly say you weren't expecting at least one casuality?" He said matter-of-factly.
"There'll be time to grieve later, they'll have noticed by now that Apex is dead and that the base has been intruded upon. We have to leave. Now." And with that, he ordered his minions to him to further inspect them. He needed to be sure that they were in proper shape to travel.
Mental Note: Ask Sybil for use of some space.
"Alright, they seem okay... Anytime you guys are ready." He said, shouting the second part to the others and mumbling the first to himself.
