The Echo is actually one of my MA arcs. It's merely a coincidence that it shares common letters with my forum signoff.

And yay, Scott did indeed offer me another contact once i'd done a bit of street-sweeping (actually, bluff-sweeping might be a better name for it, since Tiberiius Bluff was my chosen spot) and hit 15.

The Crusader arc can be started by cold contacting the zone First contact for each arc, but only if you are a member of the resistance.

You do not have to be introduced to any particular zone first contact as long as you are within the starting and ending level ranges for each first contact NPC, and the correct alignment.

You will need to be introduced to any particular zone's second and third contacts providing you are still within the level range for each second and third contact NPC, as well as maintaining alignment for the second and third contacts.

Is it possible to go from 1 to 20 and only doing one single storyline, such as ONLY doing the Power Arc, or ONLY doing the Warden arc?

If you kill everything in every map, then yes.

If you do not kill everything and only complete mission objectives, then no.
Cheers. If i streetsweep until i hit lvl 15, where the Nuetropolis contacts open up, will Scott offer me them, do you think? I'd rather be introduced than not (but if not it's not real biggie).

  3. My KinMel/Regen Stalker is currently level 14 in Pratetoria. After the tutorial, i did the missions until i got Calvin Scott as a contact, and then I was given a choice of contacts from him. I picked the Warden one, which fits thematically with this toon, and then every time i got a new choice of contacts from him, I continued to pick the Warden choice.

I've Cleared All on every mission. I just finished Seer 1381s arc (yeuch-ambushes) and levelled to 14 just prior to the end. Afterwards, Scott contacvted me and offered me Hatchett, who's a Crusader contact. I'd like to continue the Warden arcs, not do the Crusader arcs, cos i want to save them for a different toon.

Am I going to have to do Crusader arcs before I can get access to the WArden contacts in Neutropolis? Is there another way to get them?

I assumed it was possible for me to run the 4 paths on 4 different toons, tbh. Maybe there's not enough content for that?

  4. Seer 1381 SOLO ****** mission to free the seers is absolutely ****** crap. I do NOT find exiting the mission, resting, entering, killing one of the 8 PDD dickwads that ALL gang up on me at the same time, exiting the mission, and repeating to be fun at all. It's rubbish.

    Sort it out.

  5. How would 'Observe-And-Report Man' do the missions we get, I wonder. Just drop a mission every 3 days and RP calling it in by standing next to a nearby payphone?

  6. This is v funny:

"So, really, unless your alter ego is Observe-and Report Man/Woman/Dog/Bot, you're a vigilante."

If I had the superpowers I'd like, ie near-omnipotence, I'd be Cole, no question. Only I'd be better at it. No destroyers in my streets, and no Resistance either.

    It works like this:

    1. Get 1 paragraph of briefing narrative from contact.
    2. Run to somewhere miles away.
    3. Hang around waiting for the guy before you to finish killing mobs.
    4. Wait for mobs to respawn and kill them.
    5. Run miles back to contact.
    6. Get 1 sentence of 'thanks!' narrative.
    7. Repeat.

I'm a 69month vet, and in Beta I thought I'd not gained enough levels to get any missions from the new contact I'd just had a brief chat with. I had to ask in chat, and someone told me 'Speak to the contact again'.

Not sure why they did that TBH.

    On a +0/+0 character.

Kid you not... I was so astounded I was killed before I'd realized what happened, then went back, turned on Hide, and took screenshots.

I knew I was a threat to Cole's regime, but DAMN, guys!

The morality missions where she sets you up to get chomped by the Resistance was frustrating due to ambushes. Now it's not that I disliked the ambushes exactly, its that playing a stalker and having mobs know where you are and able to shoot you even when hid kind of puts the AT at a disadvantage that other ATs would not have been facing.

If I can't hide, I can't use my assassin strike or get criticals when I attack from a hidden state.
This. My KinMel/Regen Stalker is cool, except when the stupid ambushes occur. hate them.

In a lot of the Praetorian missions clearing your way to the objective is just plain stupid, you weaken your resources (inspirations, HP, End) and give more time for ambushes to find you and gang up on you. Race through the map, don't attack anything, find your objective and get the H**L out. The 5 minute timer on one Praetorian/Arachnos mission made me rethink my approach to the missions in Praetoria.

If you don't attack any MOBs in a spawn as you run by them, they'll take a potshot or two, but they won't follow more than a few feet (excluding ambushes). I take advantage of that and just get to the objective. If the objective is a boss, take him out quick, if ambushes spawn while you are fighting that boss, ignore them and concentrate on that boss and finish the mission.

The horrible ambush while fighting Seer 0001? If you ignore it and push through and drop her the mission ends. You don't need to defeat the rest of her spawn or the ambush, just hit that little blue button, you did your job.

Those missions through Ghoul infested sewers to meet someone or find something? Most of them you can just race through till you find your objective, you don't have to fight the ghouls (the mission where you have to rescue some PPD is an exception, you HAVE to clear to the PPD if you want to lead them out alive).

Meeting Steve Sheridan? Let the ghoul ambushes follow you to Steve and let Longbow deal with them, they're not your problem.

Could the Devs have designed these missions with this strategy in mind? I wonder if one of the factors in the Devs decision to make Sprint faster was to make avoiding the MOBs in the Praetorian missions easier.

Just do all your missions in Praetoria like you're doing a speed run, I'm finding that it makes life a lot easier. It cuts down on the frustration and the deaths. Besides, I'm a busy person, I have things to do, I don't have time to deal with all those clueless minions, and thankfully, I don't have to.
So you're saying that they're trying to force people who might LIKE to Clear All on their way through a map to play your way? That's nice. Since in the rest of the game, we can both approach a mission in our own ways with no problems. You can ignore easy mobs and I can mop em up.

    Ambushes - FFS

I'm doing the 'Meet with the syndicate' mission frokm Doctor Steffard ATM, and right now i'm stood outside the mission door AGAIN. Which imbecilic writer wrote this appalling piece of hackwork? I got to the contact, everything's quite exciting, fancy escort-to-conversation mechanic, and then 9 even con ghouls run up to me ignoring my Hide and kill me. I hosp, run back, as soon as i'm in the door they make a beeline for me. It's totally crap gameplay. I have to go in, wait, do two or three of them, then leave, and repeat. And there's more of the effing things spawning all the time too. RUBBISH. You suck, whoever you are.

I didnt have Placate yet, and I too am acasual gamer. i HATED that mission. I would have no qualms about punching whoever wrote it in the face once for every Blast master that attacked me.

Now I'm doing another stupid ambush-heavy mission, but I'll save that for another thread.

  14. The 'Find The Meeting place In The Tunnels' mission from luke Larson - What retarded cretinous moron wrote this abomination of tedium?

I'm doing it on a Stalker, and the Blast Masters unerringly pinpointing my location ythru my hide with their ****** 'boom baby!' every 60 seconds is giving me a serious case of RAGE.

Absolutely awful. Whoever you are, writer of this: Thrrrrp!.

  17. I'm queued on Freedom, my main server. It's only been a few minutes so far,but I was wondering if this is just a temporary thing while they get GR settled, or is it always going to be like this from now on?

Did you kill something that required more than everyone on the team doing all the damage they could while someone else healed?

From what I've gathered it's because some book in some office somewhere in the game says you are in the top guild. I'm sure some intelligent forum goers know exactly why this is, but I don't care enough to search it out.

Perhaps it's WoW mentality, I'm a returning player after all. In WoW when you said you were the top guild you actually had done something no one else had before everyone else did. Not having a life so I could be in the top guild was something I hated, looking back on it. I hate most of the people in the top guilds.

So I tentatively join one of these so called top super groups. There must be some reason for the popularity, right? It turns out it's one of these offshoots from some other supergroup. There's no one in this super group that talks but in some other super group they're spamming 4chan memes as hard as they can via something called coalition chat. The chat where people who are in worthless super groups can get together and SPAM HOLY HELL THE SPAM

I shouldn't say no one talks. There's one level 50 player who immediately tells me to get into SG mode. Farm prestige for the super group. I know as a lowbie this really doesn't hurt but the idea of giving to some nameless entity because somebody I don't know (but is higher rank than me in the grand scheme of supergroup pyramids) tells me to. I figure he'll give me a few minutes before he kicks me for my lack of constant flow of prestige so I go check out the superbase. After all, the superbase is what joining a SG is all about really, isn't it?

Inside the superbase is a bowling alley, some sort of maze of trees, endless piles of workshops and labs. It looks like super walmart met disneyland and I wonder to myself what's so super about it. I got lost inside this base in the maze of corridors. This must be to what all my prestige I haven't yet earned is going to, this massive bloated sprawling nightmare complex.

Oh this guy is telling me I'm not in SG mode yet. Demanding now that I switch. /sgquit
He would've kicked me when I wasn't on anyway in the next few days.

I understand I can teleport around the city at certain locations... I can do that anyway, it's called a train, oroboros, wentworths teleporter, vangard, pocket D, midnighter club, or possibly other ways I can't think of.
I have friends, great friends, they're on my friend list and they don't spam me, but they do help me find teams and I help them where I can.
I like having tons of influence and not giving a percentage away so some yahoo can practice landscaping some virtual garden.

I almost feel like the whole concept of a super base needs to be examined again by the devs, to make it something more than a creepy customizable rat maze. To the point, we have these great little packs for mutation, magic, science, etc. Why not breathe a little life into super bases with a pack like that? Exterior superbases? Superbases in caves!

Is there anything else I really need a SG for? I can't seem to understand the point of them in City of Heroes. I feel like I must be missing out on something great since everyone I know is in a SG, but every time I join one it's either completely dead or it's the same scenario as above.

These are just my thoughts as I declined to join the #1 guild again.

This made me laugh a lot
