Quote:There's your problem solved. Just ask for a No Teamspeak server. Biggest immersion-breaking 'facepalm i ever met was using VoIP once. Hulking great big Stone tank thundering into combat like an impact from orbit...with a nasal whiny 12yr olds voice babbling utter shite. Horrific. We were using teamspeak for a Master of Keys Run. I normally don't go out of my way to tell my gender, but I thought we had good players but I kept getting harassed. You can't ignore someone when you need them to complete something.
I play the game for fun, and shouldn't have to worry about people living in their mothers basement or 13 year old boys who should be in school.

Quote:Almost 7 years of PuGing, and I can recall maybe 3 or 4 instances of players revealing their gender, and I'm pretty sure they were all 'I'm cooking for my wife tonight, only got half hour folks. or 'hubbies home in 20, can we get this BAF done quick?' type reveals, ie likely to be indicative of one gender but not exclusively so. Can't recall any 'I am female/male!' declarations or any 'Hey, [Player X], are you a man or a woman?'. Usually the questions in PuGs are more on the lines of 'where are you from?'People bring it up quite often when asking others on the team about themselves.

I also want a server guaranteed to filter out any abuse to my people.
I'm not sure there's enough Welsh players to fill a Welsh-only server, though.

Quote:Shouldn't there have been at least one actual DC awarded by now? Maybe there has been, and I missed it?We will be gathering a number of arcs that will be eligible for Dev Choice and then marking them as such once per month, which will be accompanied by a post here on the forums explaining why we felt this was a great arc.
I think I must have completely the wrong idea about how this DC thing is supposed to work. I thought that this new venture would see in its first month a spate of DCs finally awarded to deserving arcs which have been waiting patiently for a long time, followed by at least one or 2 DCs a month.
Throw us a bone, eh?
Becky's Revenge, Fear and Loathing on Striga and Drakule vs. the Werewolf Bikers from Hell, the 3 that have been played so far, are all IMO fairly good candidates for a DC. In terms of writing, mechanics, design and intent they are at least as good as and in many ways better than a number of DCs already awarded. Also, their authors are certainly deserving of some recognition for their contributions to the AE community.
My view is that if they don't measure up, then either the bar is bafflingly high, or the success criteria are unfairly arbitrary.

Minimum team number requirements for all TFs and trials should be abolished. If someone wants to attempt to solo the keyes, let him. The 'You Have Failed The Trail' message at the end will suffice as notification that maybe next time he might want to bring a friend.
And I might finally be able to get some screenshots in that 'tank only pls' room in the Khan TF

I'm currently on a 3-month subscription. I want to change to a yearly one before Freedom goes live. Is there a way i can do this without cancelling or suspending my current sub at all? i can't seem to find an option for this on the account pages.

NCSoft has bought an iOS app maker, apparently.
Hopes for an iPhone app for the CoH costume creator or market are now raised from the dead for a while

Quote:Roll up a random toon on freedom just to go pop your head into Atlas AE. It's tragic IMO.Lets say that if I ever encounter this.. (and this is NOT happenning at that kind of scale on UNION at all).. I would stand around broadcasting that...
I was starting an official story arc team so that you could use your inf to buy the enhancements you wanted while having fun actually playing the game!
Which servers have this kind of PL for Inf crap too? Union has none... and I cannot remember seeying it on Virtue either...

I seem to oscillate between thinking 'they pay their sub same as me, whatever' and 'I hate them. I wish they'd remove all rewards from the AE and leave it a ghost town of storyarc writers/players' lol.
I do think it's a shame they don't remove the AE from
atlas and galaxy, though.

Quote:/facepalmhehe, i see what you did there lol
well i guess if your looking for drops then its not a favorable environment either lol, if your interested in tickets and straight inf gain then yes it would be more favorable lol
i was merely saying that freebies arent gonna be blocked 100% from the ae buildings, but they cant get anything from the mishs, no xp, no inf, no tickets, which is even less than we can normally get lol
Because nobody plays MA arcs for the story, right?

Quote:I have read the whole thread, but this post seems to illustrate your slightly histrionic attitude quite well. This is why I used the price of $30.00 for the entire GR expansion to do the math in my original post.. Even using that, we are being told the these new sets will cost us double what we paid for the last batch of new sets (which seemed the most logical reference point.)
Another thing to take into account here is that one of the powersets included in GR was Demon Summoning, a Mastermind set which is an AT that will have a pay to unlock value of AT LEAST $10- A nice thing about microtransactions is the ability to objectively equate a monetary value to these sorts of things.
That brings the total value under the new model of "pay to play powersets" for subscribers to $2.50 based on the most recent instance of the same thing-- So we will be effectively paying FOUR TIMES AS MUCH for these new powersets based on the monetary value the staff have implied.
(Once again, I am using those as a reference point since that is the last time I can recall us being charged for powersets, so it seems the most up-to-date standard to hold it to) w
In my opinion, you're not arguing from a level field as I for two reasons - your insistence that the free points are irrelevant, and your claim that we've bought powersets before.
I've never bought a powerset from NCSoft. I've bought GR and CoV and all the boosters.
And the free points ARE relevant to me, no matter how much you bleat on about them not being so to you.
As a VIP, I'll get a new powerset 2 months 'for free' 2 months later than sb who pays $10 at launch, if I do nothing? To me, this is not at all a problem. I'll probably do this for Titan Weapons. Street Justice I'll probably buy as soon as, and I don't think ten bucks is too much.
I'll pay more than you, obviously, for stuff. I dont think its important who's right in wether or mot stuff is 'worth' X bucks. What's important is wether NCSoft has accurately forecasted what prices the market will sustain. Grumbling abt prices is lRgely irrelevant, if you still click the 'buy now' button.
I'm personally fine with the mooted costs. I hope enough other customers are.

I made a new character recently, after getting the Steampunk Pack. Philomena kelvin, ice/ice Defender. I took her thru the tutorial and then to Atlas AE to look for some starter arcs to run her though. The broadcast in Atlas Freedom was full of 'farm team lf paying lowbie' and the like, and I asked in broadcast out of interest how far from lvl 1 sb could get on one run in 'one of these farm things'. I was told to level 17 on one run.
Philomena just dinged lvl 5 after doing Relativity Be Damned, and I'll be continuing to solo my way through story arcs, but is this sort of thing now considered fine? I know it doesn't take more than a few sessions to get to lvl 17 anyway by
'normal' means, if you're in a hurry, but one run through an AE mission seems a bit fast.

AH, I think the mystery has been solved. It's a Hero badge, isn't it, and I'm a Vig.
Doh/lol. Three times I've run this damn arc.

Quote:That's weird, then. You don't actually have to lead the downed PPD out, do you? I find them, click them, get a window with a single 'get out of here!' piece of accept text, and then move on to the next one?I got all 12 out, beat the boss, and ran out of time escorting the character out, but I got the badge.
Eco. -
I'm doing the arc through ouro, if that makes any difference.
Eco. -
I just definitely rescued all of the downed Rogue PPD - the nav instruction to rescue them disappeared - but I didnt get the badge. Do you have to succeed at the mission as well as rescue them? it seems very hard to get them AND defeat Mr X and lead the guy out in 5 mins.
Any advice would be apprecieated. I'm not worried about succeeding at the mission, i'm sick of this stupid arc after having to do it 3 times up till now. I just want the badge.

Quote:This is madness IMO. The one general rule of tjumb I have if I'm not leading is 'follow instructions from the leader'. If I'm told to hit the north chokes, then I do. I'll have a quick scan around and if I see obvious masfive gaps (like nobody at all south) then I'll say so, but I'd never try to override the leader's instructions.I think even bigger confusion is when EVERYONE on the trial thinks they know more than the leader. While I am always good with just listening to what the leader says, one could imagine how intimidating it is to see 8 out of 16 people have a different strategy for the trial, and a confused person trying to decide if the leader is right, an SG member is right, or if a friend is right. More often than not, the leaders get drowned out by the people too cowardly to form their own trials, but have no problem telling the leader they are doing it wrong!
The first few times I led, I said 'I'm new to leading, so any advoce is welcome' before leading the team. Luckily, with the BAF, the general method is quite simple, so we did ok with no complaints from anyone.
When leading/being led, I'd rather see possibly redundant instruction like 'keep their hp levels equal' than nothing at all.

How long does comic-con last?
Eco. -
Quote:Or leaders that don't give them anything to listen to. One PuG BAF I was on, the leader said "You know the drill" after the cutscene (which you'd think would have alerted him to the possibility that at least one of us didn't), and then said nothing until his silence after NS went down prompted me to ask 'where d'you want us, boss?'Pretty much this. The leagues that fail have people that don't listen on them.
'chokes' was his rather sparse reply.
A little while later of course, and Escapees started escaping, since one of the routes or other was leaking due to no central coordination.
