Thanks for the heads-up, Niviene. Interesting pieces, but frankly I'd pay more to FINALLY get 'sleek tights' options on the boots and gloves than for the privelege of wraping a metalic bat around my characters' busts and buttocks
.
I'll keep buying the packs to promote the process, but I wish Jay would finish some of the incomplete sets we have now... -
Sketchysquirrel does some interesting stuff - sort of a prep for animation look.

Your screenshots are so nice looking! What video card do you use?

Thanks. I'm running on an NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS.
My latest trick that I'm finding -very- helpful for taking screenshots in the tailor screen is set up the pose and then press "save" before hiting the screen capture - that removes the rotating arrows at the bottom and all of the color dots or slider bars which normally obscure bits on the lefthand side. Getting rid of those arrows makes the bottom a lot cleaner - there were a lot of angles I wasn't using because the feet would get lost under them. -
I'm playing around with a heavy armor version of the costume after I finished the roman TF (finally!!)
Armored Nike! -
After looking at the gallery size thread, there is some evidence my collection is pretty modest
.
The Hero Portraits Studio piece is comming together (I think it just about broke the renderer) and I just got another through deviant art, so I'm still quietly pluging away at it.

ANY sort of merit sharing just went out the window with adding merits to the veteran rewards. And once that goes live there is no going back, as they won't even try to bear the outrage for reversing THAT decision.
-
This is not a set of carrots that is significantly going to change my decisions about whether or not to continue subscribing. Which is probably a good thing - it'd be easier to offend me than to wow me at this point (I have badges through 48 or 51 months or somesuch).
Show me a player-created-content system that breaths some life into a tired super-powered combat simulator by spacing it with a bit of text I haven't read before and some combinations of critters dressed up in skins I haven't seen before and I can start making a serious judgement about wether or not this divertisment is still worthy of my $$.
Or power customization. That would defintiely keep me on a while longer. If energy blast had 1/10th the variety of visual options that shields have I could happily amuse myself for quite some time. More effort towards letting me realize my vision on the screen in a way others can see is always welcome. -
Eeek! I have a couple dozen across all my characters, but hundreds? Yeowza... I doubt I have that many screenshots!

Mystic Fortune was the first toon I ever made, and his costume has evolved many times over the years. With the addition of the Valkyrie set I can proudly say, I think its finished.

VERY stylish. I like. -
Good stuff. I like Savannah's 'boot to the head' technique and Smashmouth's unexpected cute factor.

Nice pieces, all. I think I like the red shadows best as the cleanest anatomy and posing. Its a strong graphic presentation. Grats!

Yeah. It's one of the reasons I'm hesitant about 3D art and winged characters. The fold down from the shoulders is fairly reasonable and organic, but it's defifnitely not the classic angeling line. I did like how they cupped her torso like offering hands. Hero Studios is working up a picture of her right now. I'm very interested to see how that comes out.

Looks like stripe 3 on the hips, solid boots, one of the stripes on the top, fade lines over full gloves on the hands. He's got the (not available to players, rassa-frassa) kheldian sash, the epalets shoulders, and the PPD chest logo. The noraml ones use a pretty basic grey and blue color scheme. Leaning towards a non-saturated blue.

I'm back after another brief pause. There's been a few updates in the gallery over the holidays.
Relaxed by Rosen Ice
Watching over the city by Alex Dai (this apparently made it into the most recent city scoop)
More 3D by Paul Rose (experimenting with bare shouldner's per my request)
I've got the power! by Semaj 007
With just a bit of wrath by Sacred Mountain Press
That last one is from Gammaknight's sticker art sale. Extremely reasonable asking price for what you get. -
Photoshop. One like Hedgewitch with the tailor menu background left in place takes under 5 minutes. Trimming them up for the neutal background is about 20 minutes. Ones that I really care about take another 20 minutes or so going in with the smudge, smooth, and sharpen tools to remove the corners where polygons show and blending body areas where the textures don't quite match (the tops of the gloves and boots often have artifacts).
Generally I try to make sure the is a clear back view, one from 45 dgrees off the front, and one close up. I did some attempts at sheets the year before and they were way to busy. The extra details just distracted the artists. I keep this folder as the link I send to artists for Nike. It's the style sheet, one good face (made at a celebrity morph site), a shot of her powers and a handful of the strongest pieces I've received that I hope can be inspiration to others.
A little photoshop time also lets you play games with the editor to create things you can't have in game but might want art of like this.
What price range are you shooting for? I've got a couple favorite artist ranging from $15-$200 I can recomend. -
I want to see Turbo-ski and Masked Shrike bump into each other at the market. If it wasn't before, its the frozen foods aisle now!

I always liked Zatanna. Bayani makes a fine rabbit

yeah I plan on commisioning art in the future, any recomendations for a model sheet

Here's where I keep mine. You can take a look at a couple that way. The artist doesn't need a whole lot other than a clean view of the character from several angles. You can see where I've used an occasional inset image to show off some particular detail. If they don't have an aura, I put mine on a 50% grey background so it doesn't alter the way the eye percieves the character colors.
If you are doing it youself I recomend manual screenshots taken from the supergroup costume editor (it tends to crowd the character less than the tailor one does). Now that we have the ability to save and mail each other .costume files you could send someone a file directly to do the photoshoot/photoshop. I'd set you up with one but my account's about to lapse and I might not be able to do it before the end of the month. -

Alex, that is one of THE best sketches of her I have. How large is the original?
