Aw you could have left me my illusions!
I suppose, if you were all set to start writing at midnight and just go at it non-stop, it wouldn't be too hard to get it done that quick. But people with jobs and families and lives would find it a little more difficult...
On another subject... I don't suppose anybody here knows anything about natural childbirth? I want to have a sort of midwifery scene for one of my characters but I don't know anything about childbirth personally (and have no wish to either!) -

Considering three people have finished already, I'm barely moving!

THAT is just obscene...
I bet they're no good though. -
Woohoo! I have just finished my first chapter (of 28), and it's over my daily word target so I'm happy with that start.
If the site behaves, I'll upload my new word count now. I might change the excerpt tomorrow to the beginning of chapter 2.
YWriter, I'm finding, is handy for structuring chapters and checking word usage etc, but I'm doing my actual writing in Open Office because it's easier to view. -

Good, old fashioned Victorian Norfolk name anyone? Or do I just refer to her as "Cook"? She is a minor character after-all.
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're still looking for a name, my family tree of that era includes the following first names several times: Ann, Julia, Edith, Agnes, Mary, Elizabeth, Lucy and Hannah. And surnames haven't changed much. -

Based on the "Adopt-A-Dare" thread on the NaNo forums:
- Everyone no matter what they're writing, genre/timeframe etc, must include a reference to City Of Heroes/Villains.
-Bonus points if this happens in every chapter.
- x2 Bonus points if your character appears.
- x3 Bonus points if your character ends up in an intimate situation with your story's main character.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could only possibly manage the first, at a stretch, no chance of the bonus points
Bleh. I managed just over 600 words so far, but I was writing by hand and therefore had to type it up when I got in, just going to load up my excerpt, then I'm going to put the kettle on and settle in for the evening, see how far I get.
I'm glad Caerwiden has supplied me with chocolate. Taste the Difference chocolate, no less.
I've booked an extra two days holiday towards the end of November, just in case... -
Mine still hasn't got a title. I have characters, chapter outline, plot tied up and everything else, just no title.
Maybe it'll come towards the end... -
I am on as morganafiolett and am adding everybody who's mentioned their usernames here in an attempt to look popular...
I scribbled a bit in my lunchbreak and have got a miserable 200 words on so far... but I'll write much quicker when I'm home on the computer.
Damnably, I'm working until six tonight and probably won't get home till half seven -
That's a pretty nifty program actually.. I've just set up all of my chapters/scenes and it's all ready to go on Wednesday!
*gulp* -
I'm already signed up to NaNoWriMo. I'm not doing anything CoX related though, I'm going with swords and sorcery.
Still, good luck! -
My point was that, in a game of this nature, one letter's difference can mean you're announcing a different, possibly existing, toon instead of the one you actually mean. I mention it because it seemed a considerable oversight in what was otherwise the most organised costume competition I've seen.
It's a natural mistake though, since the human brain will often automatically translate mis-spellings to the nearest correct word, but could have been avoided by using a "first prize goes to $target" bind to be on the safe side, which is what I'll do when I have the influence/infamy to arrange my own competitions.
Choosing winners is obvioualy a matter of personal taste, I gave up when I saw Siege Engine personally and thought he should have been placed higher... -

Anyway gratz to the winners...the results were:
Poison Barb: 1st Prize
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, it was Posion Barb. I created Poison Barb after the competition to make a point...
(but have deleted it now, so if Posion Barb wants the right name it might still be free... -
First of all I should confess that I really don't consider myself much of an artist. Landscapes are ok, and I do pretty good drawings of rats, but people, especially faces, are tricky for me. Secondly, I'm even worse at drawing on the computer...
So, with that warning in mind, I would like to share a picture of one of my Heroes. I did this picture half from memory and half from screenshot, as I don't have a screenshot at the right angle. ( For reference, a screenshot )
I wanted to do it in a very cartoony style, because The Plucky Heroine (and her mentor That Masked Man) are very much heroes in the tradition of the forties/fifties comic book era.
So, with much trepidation... The Plucky Heroine -

Seriously, it should be possible to come up with a more snappy acronym
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously, why does it have to be about the acronym? The full name is used in-game (i.e. that's what would appear above member's heads) while the acronym is just to save typing it all out the whole time. If I wanted to crow-bar a name around an acronym, then I would. I didn't, because I don't.

... what about W.I.T.C.H - Wives Involved in Terror and Crimes most Heinous!
[/ QUOTE ]
Because none of my characters are witches. That is, none of my villainous characters are witches. Furthermore, as I'm a pagan myself, I don't wish to reinforce the negative stereotype of a witch as being evil. Most witches I know are very nice people.
[ QUOTE ]
Or maybe do it with 'Babes' instead of 'Wives' for a more general appeal...
[/ QUOTE ]
The tone of my invitation should have indicated this, but just to make it clear- the group is intended to be a sort of villainous Women's Institute. Without using their name, because I'm fairly sure they wouldn't appreciate it. So "Babes" really isn't appropriate, while "Wives and Mothers" is.
(Edited for clarification) -

Would also like to say sorry again to Morgana Fiolet for being faceplanted for the entire Jack in Irons fight and not getting the badge.
[/ QUOTE ]
I avoided debt very well with Morgana until last night... survived three Luscas, then got planted by a mob near the first Eochai, and then...
I made the mistake of turning to see what was on telly while we were waiting for Jack to spawn. As I turned around I realised there was a flipping Rascal on Morgana's head pounding her into unconsciousness...
BUT... I got resurrected just at the end and got the badge anyway!
So it was worth it. Thanks to everyone, it was great fun!
And Caerwiden (who was playing Many in all this) says his tentacles are better than Lusca's.
