The thing I love most about Naylor is that once you get there, you rarely have to leave the immediate area.

I didn't use a single transfer. The only toons I have on another server are a few stragglers on Pinnacle that were all a) under 20 b) not very fun and c) I didn't have any room on Freedom anyways.
My original switch from Pinnacle to Freedom was definitely following friends, but that was many years ago, and at the time I had zero interaction with the Pinnacle community. These days, most of those friends have buggered off, and I've got much more of an attachment to the Freedom community, so I doubt I'll ever change my major server.
I have considered rolling some toons on Virtue, however. Partially for the experience, and partially because I don't feel like paying for extra character slots. -
I've never actually browsed using two web pages directly next to each other for comparison, even when I had dual monitors set up for my desktop computer. I guess some people may find that more of an issue for me, but after watching my use patterns over an extended period of time, I have noticed that I never have more than one program in the foreground at a time.
Again, maybe an issue for some, but it's probably less of an issue than you think. -

Quote:To be honest, I mostly scoff at the multi-tasking argument. All of the apps include good enough program hooks (what document was open, where you were in it, etc) and low enough load times that switching apps is comparable to alt-tabbing. The only real thing I care about multi-tasking is music, and it does that already.Likewise.
I plan to get a 2nd or 3rd Gen one (my laptop should be fine for another few years), but the prospect of an iPad actually became awesome when they announced multitasking.
Without multitasking, it's kinda crap to be honest, too big just to do one thing at a time. -
I concur. It's fine if you criticize me, but the anonymity of rep comments has led to some rather out of line messages that I have no way to respond to.

Oh yes, I missed this. There is a difference between "the engine can't do it" and "letting the engine do it would be a bad idea". Power customization was the former. Multiple cape-rigs, at least according to Paragon Studio's official policy, is the latter.

Ok, question time: I just looked up the 5th amendment and I'm now wondering what abuse of government authority in legal procedures has to do with anything. This is not intended to be inflammatory in any way, I just really don't get the reference.

You are certainly allowed to hold that opinion, as long as you acknowledge that what seems to be the majority of people do not share your view.
(PS: Also, as long as you realize that it is an opinion of yours, and not a fact). -

By the definition of each side. All cliches are tropes, but not all tropes are cliches. You may argue about whether or not something falls into one category or another, but since there are no cliches that are not tropes, there will always be at least an equal amount of cliches to tropes, and generally more tropes than cliches.

Quote:It doesn't appear to be a clear line because it isn't a clear line. No one person decides what is a cliche and what is just a trope, no more than one person decides what is conventional and what isn't.That's not really a very clear line between them though - like who decides when something's overused, and when it's just a convention?
Needless to say, the set of tropes is much larger than the set of cliches. -
As I understand it, it is more of a sliding scale. A cliche is the extreme end of overuse. A trope is something that has been used enough to be noticed, yet not enough to warrant the inherently negative connotation that calling it a cliche would.

Quote:Are cape animations calculated server side? Interesting. As said, entirely different. First, they don't use the same animation systems; BaBs also mentioned that we can have both capes and animated tails because animated tails don't cause the performance problems capes do, because they aren't animated like capes. And on top of that, Ultra Mode is client side; it doesn't affect the performance of the game itself.

Quote:That.... is not actually possible. Ultra mode is a shader/reflections upgrade. Cape-rigs are something entirely different.Make it part of Ultra Mode then.
of course, the hair would have to reflect everything, to keep up with Ultra Mode standards.
Theoretically, they could add an option to turn off capes, but that still wouldn't make it part of ultra mode. -

Hmm.... true. I had forgotten about those two ("those two" being the two rigs from the wedding pack. I don't really consider the bolero to be a breaking of the policy because of the subsequent removal of the combined option).
Still, I'm pretty sure animated hair will be proceeded by either a change in policy at Paragon Studios (which I don't view as too likely), or a reworking of the costume system to disallow such overlaps. -
The real question is whether GG would give up her cape in favour of animated hair. Because animated hair would certainly be implemented with a cape rig, and only one cape rig per model.
