That is true..beam is such a good 'rangey' set. My Beam/Em is ALSO my first non ss/cj toon in a good 4 years. lol. I just wanted to try something with fly and that seemed to fit well.
I just wish fly wasn't so..I dont know. Not quite right. lol -
Just cause they dont get that stuff now..doesnt mean they cant or will never get it.
Look at the dom epics..they never had an ally buff right? Yet they got Mind Link (its crap but still).
What about blasters (and scraps, and brutes and tanks) who never had a source of -def and res in the epics..then got Melt Armour?
Oh AND. To disprove your 2nd point 37..they get Shadow Meld. That makes a pretty clear case as a power that ADDS to their defences.
It is a suggestion..it does not have to be 100% possible, right now. -
Fair points about Boost Range and em..but..neglecting the chances to Cloaking Dev (or whatever it is)...Devices really does not offer anything much you cant already get from pools.
Sure..you can spam webnade at stay at range..but if you are staying at range, why wouldnt you be on a hover blaster anyway? Cloak..you get def and stealth from stealth, to hit from tactics (with confuse and fear res).
I have not heard amazing things about the damage from gun drone..and the mines arent going to be much use playing at range.
I just like Energy Manip -
At the risk of NOT being helpful at all..FOUR accounts at once? Save the money..find some friends.
Too help a little..running 4 instances of the game will chew up your resources a LOT. SO basically..you need something awesome..not sure if you could do it for 500. The more RAM, hard drive space and more video memory you have..the better. -
Think this would be a great set. And, assuming they kept up with the super amazing standards of the Watee Fx..could be gorgeous.
The Torandoic form sounds great..would be cool too see. Dust devils also (I recall a few threads were people said they wanted the devils Scirocco has).
Not sure what damage type it would be..but you could have powers in it with different ones, ala water. Such as teh Lightning blast with an energy component, water spout with cold, sand storm with fire.
I am picturing it as the guy in X Men First Class (cant remember his name). The bad guy in the suit, who makes lil dust devils from his palms. -
3%def, 5 res? You did say it was not meant to be powerful..but even Body Armour has better numbers than this! AT most it would be a slot mule for res and def uniques..
Oh!! Helps if I read..you are saying as a MELEE epic! Duh.
Well, that makes much more sense! Also..a reliable mitigation tool (Levitate) would be great for some melee sets and combos, without having to die into teh fly pool for air supp.
I like it..I always wanted melees to be able to get an epic armour, to shore up weaknesses (even if it could be OP).
PS..I hope you saw my power set ideas for Tk Melee and Tk Armour! -
Quote:Um..ok. Way to go right for the worst case scenario?? How about..you know..NOT opening said gift from your email? Rocket science I know but..come on. And besides, it IS a gift. What is there, buyable at the store, that you could 'grief gift' to someone you want to annoy? Name one, go on.And what does the OP expect to happen when someone uses the feature to make unauthorized purchases for other peoples accounts? Say a child/angry spouse or BF/GF
Also NCSoft has already had a security problem where people were getting access to other players Master accounts by simply logging into their own accounts. From there they had access to the logins of all accounts on the Master Account and the ability to get/change passwords.
So if this feature and the store were in place when that was happening someone could easily increase another players credit card limit and then have a field day buying items for other players accounts.
A much safer and better idea would be to sell Paragon Point cards similar to Game/Time cards.
Selling PP cards would work. But..how do you 'give' them to someone? That is the whole POINT of the Gift idea. Buying a card for yourself..how is that different to just..buying points from the store?? And if you buy a card for someone else, it still leaves the 'issue' (according to you) of the other person getting it.
I can see it now..'Oh damn it to heck, my angry EX gifted me ANOTHER PP card! I so do hate that!'
Be reasonable. -
Ohh neat. IS that teh Center in the background? Is he making a comeback?
-
Or you know..bring aoes. Heaps pro tip that one. Shivans move quite slow unless SBd and often get lost. Without sb, the time wasted trying to get them to fights..
Regardless, even IF shivans speed SYn up a lot, it is STILL boring and the missions are to similar. -
I am sure it has been suggested before but..
A friend was saying they have something like this on GW. I was looking at the weekly market stuff, and saw the IO licence on sale, and was thinking how nice it would be if I could spend a few of my PP, and Gift that to a friend.
Even better, if you could enter the name of the person your sending it to, and the system would check, to see if the person could use, or already had, that item. Such as gifting a friend a costume bit.
Then it could appear in the persons email, and opens like a Holiday event gift! -
A friend recently went back to premium, and the most annoying thing for her is losing her KB ios. They are just so easy to get and slot, and then never think about kb for 99% of the game.
(Not that I totally agree KB should be eliminated quite so well, but thats another topic)
Viewed as a new player set back, it IS the hardest thing to combat. Sure, we can take accro, but that needs 2 power pics and isnt not available till..whenever it is. As nasty as other Mezzes can be, a break free will stop any you find, and more importantly, release you from the effects. The very nature of kb means that..when hit, and being kncked over, you cant DO anything..even to stop it (once started).
So my idea...
Add a KB protection Hydra enhancement to DFB, and DIB. Just say a mag 1, so if a few kbing powers hit you, you go over, but enough for most things. That way new players can get kb prot till 30, and then decide if they want acco, or want to pay for that option of kn IOs.
As an interesting aside..the same friend found out she CAN use base crafting for the -KB base buff, which is -10 mag for an hour. -
maybe a fort for blasting (sort of) since the others are melee/support..round out the trio.
-
Death SHroud is pretty good. Adds to the aoeyness of claws, and REALLY helped out by follow up (you dont want it missing). But again..with all that aoe, you dont NEED it to kill mobs. The end cost is also huge, so a late power pick for me.
For teh soft capped...What about a Veat? Widows can do it east, banes and crabs with a bit more effort. Oh, or a time manip corr perhaps? -
Just to start the discussion (argument?) again..I think part of the problem with wanting and finding average comparisons is that the average person..most likely (judging from all the players I know) wont actually LOOK on the forums for advice. They will just ask in game on Help, ask friends etc etc.
The ones posting are more of the min max type, and WANT those end level talks about best performance.
So yes..in that regard..the average builds ARE a bit less common, on here. And as Klaw said, it can be misleading for a newer player to see that and think a set needs it all to be any good. -
Oh I give up..you are still missing the whole point the OP is trying to make.
-
Well that is ok, I long ago faced and made friends with my inner jerk. I'd rather be right and an *** than wrong (perhaps less correct, or having a differing opinion would work better here).
And I was just turning it about..the request..well..demand..I pull a comparison out of my hat, came off as quite rude to me. Just sending it back with interest. -
Quote:Umm. What? You just pull some random two sets out, and demand a average comparison, to PROVE your point?? Good one. I was not saying average builds are littering the forums, I am saying you can often find one, if you look. Can you point me in the direction of a post comparison of average, between something like say, fire armor vs dark armor?
I've seen many post of comparison but what I mostly see within a post or two is a posting of a min/maxed build and or comparison of the two when maxed out. I havent seen many postings of comparison when people post builds of performance with SOs. Most I seen is one that is fully IOed and and talk about switching those IOs for even better IOs to max this or hit cap on that and etc. Not saying they exist but it's not common and pretty hard to find. What key words do you use to find these types of posts easily? I may not be using the proper keywords to look for comparison on the average level.
Or..to turn it around on you..I want you to link me to a super dooper high end tricked out max shinies performance comparison on say..Pain dom on corrs vs TA.
Can you do that, right away? No? Then WHY should I be able to meet your task?
Maybe that comes off a bit rude, but it still applies. As to what keywords I used..I didnt, I hate the search function. If I wanted to make a new toon, say a dark armour or fire armour scrapper, and WANTED some advice for an average build..I would do that super crazy thing..and make a new thread. Maybe that is technically rehashing old info and threads, but the amount of time I could take making the thread (and getting it up on the new post list where people see it, now) compared to the time taken wrestling with teh search engine? I'll make my new thread. -
I think that is the key for me. Likewise with Penny and Posi. Nice varied missions and maps. Again, ALL redside SF's are like this to some degree..just another reason I prefer them.
-
From the discussion thread....'what happens? apparently a lot of waiting around, and no xp for defeating lvl 54 bosses.'
Sounds..um..fun?
Oh and..
'Raid on PI by ferry. then in Talos. Its Corlex and arachnos. Then IP for super Lusca. Now Pocket D "party".
Party gave out a few kirby dots, a water blast set, and a costume.' -
If you are soloing, and prefer range, you simply can not beat Energy Manip. With boost range, the hardest part of staying far away is a maps geometry.

Quote:But..it so isnt. A min build, SOs, no procs, no uniques. A basic build, generic IOs, perhaps a few uniques. A 'good' IO build, sets, uniques, not fussed about purpls/atos/pvp io. A max build..purples, pvp IOs, tweaked for best performance in certain areas.basically.It's even hard to find good information about particular builds without the mass of min/maxed builds, if middle ground comparison posts actually exist.
Clearly the first and last are outliers. What is the point even mentioning the last..given how many people might use it?
A friend of mine asked for a build for her elec/shield scrapper. I have seen MANY builds for those on the forums, usually maxed out and expensive. I came up with a build using the cheaper IO sets, for..50 mil I think it was, and she said it was great. It took me a whole..oh, 5 mins?
Also, I have seen a huge number of threads, where the OP simply ASKS for a non maxed build. And low and behold..people supply builds that wont cost the earth. -
Not even...Sutter, Morty Kal, hell, just make it ALL red side tfs. Hess? Katie? For me, its a pretty obviously gap..all sig tfs but Posi (new) and now Penny, and all shard tfs but the LAST mission in Faathim, make me never want to do them again. (to a degree)
-
I think you are missing the point Drae.
The OP isnt (at least I think) complaining about ANY specific sets, be it melee, blaster etc etc. They are talknig about HOW sets get compared. Such as in Claw's "Tweak SS' thread, were a few people dived in with huge examples of how SS, at max performance, is not 'that' amazing. Which as I said there..is really pointless, since how often do we play at max everything?
That is how I read the OP anyway..saying that comparing a set to another at max settings is just not really helping. There is always going to be outlier sets, but if one set, at 'base line' performance is X amount better than another at base, we can compare that. -
