Two open spots, call 'em if you want 'em!
I totally understand real life obligations, so no worries on that end.Smite, if you wanna start SF Sundays, be my guest! I'm always glad to see people volunteering to get involved in the Protector community.
Also, "BOOT TO THE HEAD!" is my MA/shield's battle cry. -
This is a known issue. Somewhere in this section Hyperstrike has a thread on it too and there's a lot of great discussion in that thread. Unfortunately, my search-fu is teh suck.

Since no one has told me they are not able to make it, I'm assuming that this is the team we're running with this week for the Sara Moore. Remember, we're meeting on Monday at 8 pm EST at Sara Moore; if you do not know where to find her, I will be there a teeny bit early to teleport people in, so send me a tell. We'll be running from 8 pm EST-11 pm EST on Monday and from 8 pm EST until we finish on Tuesday. -
I agree with Grey and River. Without Me is a good intro song for you.

I got to take an hour long nap yesterday between the Marathon and a KJSR.net staff meeting...went back to bed around 11 pm (because my SG was yelling at me), woke up at 4 am and MADE myself go back to sleep til 11 am.
Sleep is gooooooood.

As they worked that night, Snap remained largely silent and introspective, remaining aloof from the group's joking and teasing. She threw herself into her part, bolstering her friends' reserves of energy when they began to tire, healing their wounds as quickly as she could, and pulling them back from the brink of death whenever necessary. She carefully avoided looking at 'Razur-she could feel him watching her, and the few times she had opened their connection to retrieve him from the Netherworld, she had felt such a wave of tangled emotions that she couldn't cope-love, pain, lust, confusion, and worry, and an underlying fear that she couldn't put her finger on.
At one point, as they split off from the rest of the group inside a Council base to scout it out, he grabbed her around her waist and pulled her to him, tangling one hand in her hair and kissing her savagely. As she cried out in surprise, he released her, moving quickly away from her down the hall to rip into a group of Council soldiers with his claws, leaving her standing looking after him, touching a trembling hand to her bleeding lip and closing the small wounds he'd made before following, stoically blocking it from her mind.
A few emptied bases later, 'Razur's thought-voice came tentatively into her mind. "I...I'm sorry, Snap...I don't really know what came over me..."
"Don't worry about it," she dismissed abruptly, attempting to close him back out.
More practiced than she, the mutant forced the connection back open. "No...Snap...we need to talk...this...changes things."
"It doesn't change anything," she returned, stubbornly attempting to withdraw.
"It changes my perceptions," 'Razur said, unusually gentle, "which changes things."
"...fine." Snap thought back, sending with it a sense of defeat. "We'll talk. Later. Not in front of the others."
"I know," he responded.
They returned to speak with Citadel once more, then split off their seperate ways. Fyglia and Donovan remained with 'Razur and Snap, who sidekicked the pair and headed to Peregrine Island to assist with a bank robbery that was out of the PPD's league.
"Thank you, lo...Snap." 'Razur said quietly as she teleported him into the bank, abruptly diving at the first Carnie he saw.
"You're welcome," she answered, lobbing orbs of concentrated magical energy into the fray.
Fyglia and Don shared a wordless glance as they, too, chose their targets and began to battle for control of the bank. -
What Tsuki said. I used my merits towards random rolls, and got 12/14 extremely nice recipes, selling (crafted) for between 10 and 50 million, most for over 30 million. After everything sells, I might be able to finish Snap's first build!
All in all, it was an insane, awesome time, with a lot of great people both on the team and on the sidelines. Next time I go broke the Teamsters may run this for profit-but we'll be splitting it up, not doing it all at once; I'm pretty sure some of our SGmates already want to put myself, Unholy, and Tsuki in the loony bin, and to do this twice would seal the deal.
Oh, and by the way, if you REALLY want to test your friendship with someone, spend 16 hours on Skype with them while running a series of fairly grinding TFs. Many thanks to WRider and Mionas, who joined our conversation occasionally and kept us amused enough to finish in high spirits! -
So Unholy and I are running around one of the caverns, seperated from everyone else, and talking about how lost we are on Skype, and I hear this:
Unholy: "Marshall, Will, and Holly, on a routine expe-DAMN THESE PORTALS! What am I, a portal bloodhound?"
Well, at least he's good for something... -

Quote:So I was helping Charlie move an entertainment center the day before yesterday, and while we were rolling it up the back steps, it slipped and came down smack on the top of my head. I saw some very extremely pretty stars.I love protector mainly because of the people.... take the thread for example... it went from funny to REALLY hilarious in less than 2 pages!.... wait a sec.... nobody got hurt!.. ARGGHHHH its still funny?!?!?!
Does that count? -
Congratulations on your bouncing baby Scrapper-to-be!

Seeing as things seemed to be clearing up, Snap dusted the remaining sand off of herself and concentrated for a second, casting a glamour that would make her appear to be properly clothed in jeans and a t-shirt until she made it back home to change for real. Then, with nary a backward glance, she headed out away from the beach, making quickly for the center of Talos and vanishing.

We did the Q in approx. 6 hours during Task Force Tuesdays...8 pm EST-11 pm EST on a Monday, then 8 pm EST-11 pm EST on Tuesday. It CAN be done in less time...with a ghoster who has TP.
In case anyone didn't know this, a stealth proc in hover will not make you invisible to the damned Overseers; they can see pretty much everything, as we discovered to our sorrow on TfT. -
I'll be there. Bringing Snap Play, 50 emp/rad defender, and as many Teamsters as I can summon.
-
Welcome to the game!
We hope you stick around!
And on the topic of servers, another shoutout for Protector here. We run a lot of interesting events, like this weekend's Shadow Shard TF Marathon, Rush the Rikti (Rikti Mothership raids) on Wednesdays, and Task Force Tuesdays. We've got a great and helpful community, although any server has its share of jerks, and we're the home of the Jello Shooters global channel, which is the global channel to join if you're looking for teams, TFs, and general shenanigans on Protector.
Try a bunch of different servers until you find one that suits you-or make an alt on every server! You have ten character slots per server to work with from day one, and there's no rule that says you HAVE to only use one server. Also, check out each server's section in the forums to get an idea of the people there!
Good luck! -

The beach was far from clear, but Snap judged her work done anyhow. It didn't look like anyone had any life-threatening injuries, and whatever issues people were still having, she figured were their own problems and none of her business. As she began to walk back towards the spot where she'd been sitting before the initial attack from Krill Killer, his psychic attack screamed through her mind, sending her reeling to the ground with her hands to her head. As it passed, she grimaced, her head throbbing. She saw the other metahumans react as well, and lifted a hand to direct a pulse of healing energies through the nearest one, the young man with the swords. -
I suck at remembering to post here when I put up a new chapter, but there's a new chapter of the Teamsters up.

Snap sat on the edge of one of the platforms in the workroom, conversing with Fyglia Skydancer, Storm Rose, Donovan Cosantoir, Tybaltin, and WRider. The lone human of the group, WRider was explaining the effects of a serum he'd developed.
"It was supposed to increase my accuracy, but it changed my gender instead," he explained, swinging his legs off the edge of the platform next to Snap. "I decided to keep it, since Countess Crey is looking for me...she's looking for a male WRider, not a female."
"That makes sense," Don agreed. "It's an excellent disguise."
"Oh! Speaking of serums...I'll be right back," Snap said. "Mio worked up a serum for me that's supposed to increase my healing abilities, I figured I'd take some right before we go out to work tonight, in case it wears off." Slipping down off the platform, she dashed through the base to the apartment she shared with Alaric, grabbed a vial off their dining room table, and returned to her friends.
"Okay...let's see if this works..." she said, wincing as she carefully injected herself with the serum.
"Um..." Rose said, staring up at her brother's girlfriend in surprise.
"Whoa!" Fyglia said at the same time, also staring.
"...wow." said WRider, the first to find his voice.
Snap stared down at her friends in dismay. "I...I don't think it worked...oh, no..."
"No, I don't think it did either!" Rose exclaimed.
"Well, try healing?" WRider suggested.
Spreading her hands over the group and concentrating, Snap sent a wave of healing energies through them, then shook her head and slumped to the ground. "No...same as before. Instead of increasing my powers that stupid potion just increased my size!"
"I can...sorta see how that might work," Rose mused.
"This is so not good!" Snap moaned, burying her face in her hands. "I don't want to be big! And there's no counter-serum!"
Fyglia giggled. "Maybe Mio pulled a prank on you!"
"He better not have," the changeling growled, "or I'm sabotaging his date tomorrow!"
"Date? What date?" the group chorused.
"Mio has a date with Ali tomorrow night, he won it by beating her in a footrace," Snap explained.
"Someone actually likes Ali enough to go on a date with her?" Rose asked, aghast.
Ignoring her, Snap turned her face to WRider. "If I gave you what's left of the serum, could you make a counter-serum for it? Or something to fix this?"
"I can try," the blaster answered thoughtfully, "It might be a little difficult considering I didn't create the thing...plus you know my current streak of creating potions is not very good."
"Well, nothing can be worse than this, right?" Glumly, Snap got up to retrieve the remaining serum and place it in WRider's lab. As she returned, she interrupted her friends' murmuring, saying, "It's on your desk, WRider."
"I'll get to work on it as soon as I can," he promised.
"As for it not being able to get worse...you could turn into something like what Doc Squid turned into yesterday, that metal-skinned guy," Rose reflected. "At least you still look like you, only bigger."
"I don't want to be big though!" Snap cried, close to actual tears. "I just got used to being little! Fygy, stop it!"
The smaller faerie had been running around Snap's seated form in circles, pretending that her friend had her own orbit. Hearing how upset she was, Fyglia stopped and knelt down next to Snap, hugging her and murmuring an apology.
"Wait, weren't you the one who complained about not wanting to be little?" Rose frowned.
"Well, I didn't want to, before..." Snap mumbled, "but I was just getting used to everything!"
"Usually how it goes," Rose nodded. "The moment you stop looking..."
"Quite," Don agreed. "The fortune Fyglia read for you was quite accurate. Fate's hand is unpredictable in its effects."
"Ah, don't worry too much," Rose shrugged. "We're not gonna throw you out or anything just 'cause you got a little bigger."
"Hey, haven't thrown me out yet, right?" WRider added, injecting himself with his gender-bending serum.
"Indeed," Don nodded, "Your size is irrelevant. You are still you!"
"I'm not worried about that, you guys," Snap mumbled, blushing at the warmth that spread through her at her friends' declaration of loyalt.y.
"Then why's it so much of a problem?" Rose asked, confused.
"What else preys on you, then?" asked Don at the same time.
"It's just...I really, really, really don't want 'Razur to see me like this," Snap said, worried.
"Oh?" Donovan raised an eyebrow at Snap.
"...why not?" Rose asked.
"I was about to ask that!" Fyglia giggled at Rose.
"...he's just...been acting weird lately," Snap said slowly. "Weirder than usual, I mean...it's like...he's tied in too closely to Alaric, or something."
Rose coughed, jerking her head toward the base entry. Snap looked up, only to see the object of her dread entering the base, staring at her with a stunned expression on his usually stony face. Shrieking, she rose into the air and fled to her bedroom, leaving the rest of the group standing there looking at each other in shock as 'Razur followed swiftly after.
"Um...should we let them work it out by themselves?" Apprehensively, Rose looked towards the hallway the pair had disappeared down.
"...yeah...let's do that..." Fyglia answered, putting Don between herself and the hallway Rose was looking down.
Meanwhile, Snap was attempting to lean nonchalantly against her bedroom wall, with 'Razur standing over her glowering. "Um, uh...hi, 'Razur..." she managed, smiling weakly. "Uh...Asylym gave me some stuff for you...said he was paying you back ro something...here..." Reaching into her belt, she pulled out a wallet and tossed it to him.
He caught it and stowed it away, still staring at her in shock. "Thank you...what the hell happened to you?" he added, all in a rush.
"Uh...nothing...I...don't know what you're talking about!" she said brightly, ducking away from him and rejoining the rest of the group. "Come on, everyone, we're supposed to meet Citadel in Talos..."
"I need to stop at Wentworth's," 'Razur growled. "And then, Snap...we talk about this..."
"Well, there's a Wentworth's in Talos, right near our rendezvous point, as a matter of fact, so let's go...." Snap said, falsely cheerful. Moving fast and always out of her partner's reach, she headed for the telepad bay and was airborne in Talos before he arrived.
As he stood in Wentworth's, dealing with the pretty young woman who had been assigned to him for the moment, he sent a pulse of thought along their mental connection.
"You wanna explain what the **** happened?"
"Not really..." she sent back tentatively.
'Razur sighed inwardly, then sent a sterner thought. "Snap, explain!"
Compelled by the order, she complied, sharing her memories of the incident.
"Has he got a fix for it?"
"WRider is working on one..."
"Oh, boy...hope he doesn't turn you into a dude..."
"I hope so too...although...I'm not actually sure if that would make it worse or better..."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, if it made me the right size again, WRider's serum reverses gender, so..."
A wave of understanding hit her, then: "What was Mio trying to help you with?"
"Increasing my abilities...it didn't...as I think you can tell."
"Yeah..." 'Razur withdrew from her mind, closing her out of his, as he rejoined them to speak with Citadel. They began the night's work with an awkward silence hanging between them and weighing on the teammates who'd become accustomed to the duo's easy bantering. -
Snap's continued protests were drowned by another wave as a robot, a centipede, and a guy with a couple of swords attacked the whale. As she crawled up the beach, coughing up water, she looked around to find out what other havoc had been wrought by the whale.
As she finally caught her breath, she began to wander around the beach, silently healing those who had been knocked unconscious or otherwise injured. She didn't bother to stop to talk-as each person was taken care of, she simply moved on to the next, seeming preoccupied as she worked. She found herself near an interesting sight-a human, a lizard man of some kind, and the centipede were obviously involved in some kind of confrontation, while a woman nearby screamed at the centipede.
She sighed and walked over to the woman. "Excuse me? Miss? Hello? Yeah, down here. That bug's not hurting anything, you might wanna just walk away." -
If you're writing it because you enjoy it, then no. The only reason to write is because you enjoy the story you're telling; as long as you love it, it doesn't really matter if anyone else does or not.

"Oh, come ON!" a diminutive figure sputtered, surfacing in the shallows after having been knocked down by an extremely inconsiderate wave. "This is ridiculous!"
Snap Play struck out for the shore, grumbling to herself the whole time. Reaching the sand, she turned to the whale and drew herself up to her full four foot height, insectoid faerie wings hanging limply down her back, and yelled, "Hey! HEY YOU! You RUINED my day off, you *******!" She raised one hand in the air, green energy coalescing around it as she called on her magic abilities to lob an attack at the whale. "HEY! Are you listening to-OW!" A flying bucket smacked her upside the head, sending her tumbling to the ground.
