  1. Anyone else looking forward to Super Reflexes for tanks?

I am Im thinking super reflexes with street justice I think will be fun, any thoughts?
  2. Since brute's have stronger defense, would a brute thats has regen, regenerate at a faster rate than a scrapper that is regen?

From what im reading from everybody is that brutes have better survivability but their damage is only really good if their fury bar goes up, while a scrapper can just dive in and try to get that critical hit. So my question is to put aside fury for brutes and critical hits for scrappers and look at just the hits they each give alone and both are same builds, who does the better damage output? The brute or scrapper, and lets say their both Broadsword/regen.

Correct me if im wrong but from what im reading from everyone is that brutes can take it but not dish it well as scrappers and scrappers can dish it but not take it well as brutes.

    Best Buff's?

I was thinking about making a bubbles/electric. The tactic I was thinking about was yeah, shield the whole team, but slot all electric powers for endurance drain, and try to sapp the baddies as much as possible. Again this probably looks good on paper, but not sure if it will work out like I think it will, but still wanna try it out.

I see what your saying on Cold vs FF and how Cold offers so much more to the table for helping a team than bubbles, but you would think that since bubblers can only offer bubbles to the team primarily, that their bubbles would be so good that they would be the strongest defensive buff in the game. Bubbles is all they have really, I would like to see the bubbles be something stronger.

My question to all is, why would you pick a bubbler defender over any other defender build out there?
  4. I'm thinking about making a new scrapper, it will be street justice and some secondary when freedom comes out. Has anyone played street justice on beta yet? Any good?

    Best Buff's?

For the soloist, defender Traps has a version of Dispersion Bubble that, over time, costs less endurance to run AND has higher base def. So, outside of PFF, bubblers can't even lay claim to having the best +def self buff available in a defender primary.

    Is that true?

To respond to the statement above, I just wanted to start this thread to read people's input on the defender power-set's to learn how things have changed over the years that I was out. I want to know what people think about thermal, cold, empathy, kinetics, etc. Just learning about the defender powersets and what not, and yes the tanker's as well for defense cause willpower and shield are all new to me, and wanting to learn how things have changed when I made that thread.

Playing as a bubbler is fun to me, I just want to know why I dont see many bubbler "Defenders" anymore, I usually see more bubblers as a secondary on controllers or MM's it seems, but not as a defender. Didn't know if anything changed over the years when I was out. Didn't know if bubbles got nerfed or something.

What would blend well with a secondary to bubbles?

    Best Buff's?

Yeah, I dont see a whole lot of people making bubble defenders anymore, are they viewed as a weak buff now? Its been some years since I really played the game but bubbles I thought were very good. Has something changed or is there just better buffs/debuffs for defenders to play as rather than playing a force field defender?

I would like to play a bubble defender but if their not that good compared to emp. cold and thermal and ect. convince me otherwise I would like to hear why or why not bubbles are the way to go.

    Best Buff's?

Far as buff's go, who is the best at it? empathy, force fields, thermal, cold. You tell me and why they are better than the other AT's out there far as defenders go.
  8. I was doing some reading and read that Brutes have High damage and High defense, while Scrappers not so much as a brute. With that being said why would you make a scrapper over a brute, what advantage do you gain?
What can a scrapper do or do better than a brute?

    Power badges

Thanks for the link, very helpful. How do I obtain these? looking and can't find how.

    Power badges

What are the badges you need to get that will up your powers? I came across one hero and read their info and looked at their powers. When I scrolled down passed thier power list they had a huge list of percentages like 5% increase to health, 5% increase to defense and the list went on. I assume those were from getting badges or completing some kind of missions. Can someone fill me in on how to go about getting those?

Also whats better in your opinon H/O enhancements or I/O enhancements,
    what has the stronger return?
  11. Is was doing some reading and came across that there is a damage cap, defense cap, stun and slow cap. With that being said, is there a way to reach the cap for slow and -recharge against enemies with a storm/ice defender?

Also what does softcap mean, is that like only putting 3-4 slots into a power or 6 slots with only S/O's and not I/O's?
  12. Also, I read that storm defenders are the best at debuffing the enemy team. The aim to this build is to debuff the enemy team as possible.
  13. To all stormies out there, im building a storm defender right now, which not trying to brag but he lvl'd 20 times in 1 day. Anyhow, any advice on the build, cause he's storm/ice and what im doing is trying to just take all possible recharge/speed away from enemy mobs. With snowstorm, freezing rain, and ice storm. I figure chaining those 3 all together will take away all recharge from the enemy and keeps the team alive cause the baddies can't attack fast enough to do real damage. With the 3 working all together they stack right? I also slot my freezing rain and other powers not for damage but for slow, and defense debuff's. So far this build is alot of fun cause of the animations and storm is just alot of fun. Another strategy I plan on running at higher lvl's is to run Hurricane, Gale, and multiple tornado's in a mission and the whole point of that strategy is to keep the enemies from having the ability to stand and fight. With hurricane tossing them around and taking their acc. away and tornado throwing them around and gale sending them flying away, I understand it will be a pain for any tanker trying to herd but wont the team live far better doing this cause the enemy is constantly on its back. It may be tedious chashing all the baddies 1 by 1 but the team would have a better chance living right? Anyway thats just a strategy i was thinking about doing later on for fun. Any advice how I should use this storm/ice build to the up-most adavantage let me know. Thanks all feedback is most appreciated.
  14. Turns out I found on another server that I have a lvl 32 ice/ice tank from years ago that I totally forgot about, so I have a tank now I can roll with. I will have to respec him and fix his moves. Question is I dont even know the invention enhancements that well, do I just slot S/O's or go straight to I/O's.
  15. another quick question, which are better for you toon, invention enhancements or H/O's?
  16. Will super reflexes bring anything good for tankers? Cause if you get hit, can you take the hit it? Seems kinda squishy to me.

From what im reading, it looks like Ice tank will be the route to go, what about a secondary should I go ice or kinetic?

Thanks again to everyone's reply, I appreciate the feedback.

Aim is survivability and protect the team by making the enemies unable to hurt team.
  17. Well, the tank im wanting to make is a tank that has the ability to jump in a massive group of baddies lvl's higher than me. Protect the team by crowd control. I want to be the tank that protects the team. I feel that ice armor might be the best for that, cause ice can survive and crowd control by armor that slow's the enemies recharge rate down and slows their movement speed from be able to reach your teammates and keeps them by you, where you want them. Ice patch will work for crowd control, cause you can't fight if you can't stand, and icesicles keeps hitting them keeping aggro on you. Is this logic wrong?

Looking for that tank that survives and crowd control that keeps his team alive. other armor's keep YOU alive maybe not the team. Ice seems to have powers that do more than keep you alive, they keep the baddies from having the ability to reach your teammates, and attack at a normal rate.

Is this the best armor you think for survivability and protecting your team? anyone please comment and yes ice patch is sec. i know that with that being said you think ice/ice is the best for those reasons above listed?
  18. I see what you guys are saying about granite, well since we got that out of the way, what about will power, vs shield, vs the soon super reflexes. What are the pro's and con's as a tank when selecting those primaries? Those are the 3 im thinking about right now.
yeah, i'll admit i dont want to be immobile but i want a tank that can just take an insane beating and keep going and tank that a team can hide behind.

Will Super Reflexes, be that good for tankers? When I think of super reflexes, i think scrappers. Correct me if im wrong but isn't super reflexes for a tanker kinda squishy, i understand they will have a tough time hitting you, but if they do land a punch, can you take it?

Also is willpower better than invul.?

By the way heavenly, i love that piegon avatar everyone scroll up one and look at it.
  19. So we all agree that stone tank's granite armor is the strongest armor in the game? also please dont do acronyms, or abbreviate cause i dont understand some of the lingo sorry, been a long time for me.
  20. Yeah, survivability is really what im looking for i guess, something to keep all aggro and take all aggro the best, better than any other defense. So is granite armor the best for survivability compared to invul. or will power or any other? Now what about getting extreme high amounts of hit points. Also I do plan on getting to pool powers like tough, weave, and combat jumping and other powers for defense.

Also the question about the enhancements from first post anyone and what does softcap mean? is there a hard cap?

What is the maximum defense cap then, cause thats what im shooting for i guess, is the maxiumum on defense cap for a tanker, i dont want offense that much, all defense. thanks again guys for your help
  21. Ok, I use to play this game all the time when it came out, then took about a 5 year break from the game. I come back to alot of new stuff, when i played invul. tank was the strongest defensively. My question to everyone is that I want to make a tank that is mainly on extreme on defense and extreme on hitpoints and little offense. I want to be the tank on the team that can walk into any group of baddies and keep their aggro and never die. Basically the strongest defense in the game, what would that be, is it still invul, cause i heard Will power now is?

Please also fill me in on what softcap means, and is 6 slotting all defense on Single orgin enhanments stronger or weaker than 6 slotting on invention enhancements?

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
