But issue 14 was already 13.5 so does that mean 15 is really 13.75?
Also, they can't work on i16 fulltime cause they also have to work on GR.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, in a recent interview, Posi stated that some feature(s) were trimmed from issue 15 to go into issue 16 so it could be out as close to 5th anniversary as possible so I guess issue 16 is really 13.875. Oh My Gawd, Zeno's Paradox! Issue 13 is the last issue of CoX! There will never be an issue 14, just continual updates to issue 13! -

That truly is sadistic!

Marketing is waiting to see How well the Wedding Pack sells. If sales are good, expect to see the Roman costume set as part of next months "Costume and Emote" Pack. If sales bomb, we may see it released as part of issue 12 content. -

I just want him to add a cummerbund. My kingdom for a cummerbund! D:

A cummerbund would be nice. Wouldn't have minded a string tie either.

I hear a cummerbund will soon be available for the low low price of $4.99. -

Just wondering if this indicates a change in business model from NCSoft. After all, its a low cost pay upgrade with a small amount of content. Im wondering if this is a sign of things to come?
[/ QUOTE ]
It better not be. To Be honest, 2nd pay for microexpansion I see NCSoft for CoX and even though I love COX, I'll have to start thinking about canceling and I been here 45 months and never thought I would cancel CoX.
Seriously, even the greedy SOE has never thought about charging for just a few costume parts and emotes. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, $9.99 for a few costume parts? That's a bit steep. $4.99 I might spring for. I love the game and complain about very little, but considering there are not any temp powers or more than basically two costume options it's a bit pricy, IMHO.
And just to beat the trolls to the punch, yeah I know. I don't have to buy it. And at this price I probably won't. But I will give my opinion just the same, thank you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, if people do not express there opinion about how displeased they are with this "Wedding Pack" idea, how will NCSoft know not to do it again. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
so we have to pay extra for costume/emotes now?
.......
[/ QUOTE ]
There is still a full complement of free Issues and content scheduled for this year and beyond for City of Heroes and City of Villains.
This pack is something that we were able to make available outside of our regular release schedule. So, no, you won't have to pay for other new costumes and emotes. We realize that the Wedding Pack won't be for everyone, but hopefully those who are interested in it will find that they like having the option to obtain it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, to be honest, I think it's a bit much to charge 10 dollars for some costume parts and emotes that should have been part of the event like Santa Hats for Christmas events. Last thing I want NCSoft to thing they can nickle and dime us to death like SOE does for microcontent. Personally, I hope very few people buy the Wedding Pack so NCSoft gets the message that this is not a viable income stream for them. -

Let us go back and redo the arcs!!
[/ QUOTE ]
You'd think it'd be pretty simple to do too. Autoexmp the mission owner to the mission level, add a mission flashback option to all contacts that lets you continuously cycle through a contact's missions and voila. Flashback.
They should probably not give you temp power rewards because then you could like do the blackwand/wedding band/whatever missions over and over and never run out, but I think all other rewards would be pretty kosher.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do not know if temp powers have a flag to you could not get the same one twice but it could be added so this could not be a problems. I am trying to remember, if a mission has a temp power, does only the owner get the temp power?
Personally, if it was like the autolevel for taskforces and only could get a temp power once, I would be happy with a flashback system. Doing the content with influence, salvage and recipes would be enough of a reward. -

I've had some discussions with the team yesterday about what we could do instead, and still keep the flavor of the four pool system, because having the extra three pools allows us to not only reward risk/reward, but time/reward as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Let us go back and redo the arcs!!
Forget Jack and his stupid ideas about whether or not all the content should be experienced by one lone character and let us go back with our level 50 Characters and redo the arcs that we missed as well as do the arcs over again.
Give us the damn content!
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to agree with this, why is allowing people access to all of your content bad? If I have a level 50 I I want to be autoed sidekick to level 10 to do the Hollows storyarc, am I not still paying a monthly fee? If in Issue 10 they add a new level 35+ zone and I want to do it and I only have a level 45 character, why force me to level up to 35 with an alt to enjoy the new content? People who play alts will play alts no matter what. Stop punishing people for their past actions. -

Much better system but think there should be a very small chance for to get stuff from other pools. Something like
Doing Pool A stuff 97% of the time you get Pool A; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool C; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool B stuff 97% of the time you get Pool B; 1% from Pool A; 1% from Pool C; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool C stuff 97% of the time you get Pool C; 1% from Pool A; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool D stuff 97% of the time you get Pool D; 1% from Pool A; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool C
This way you could always have a small chance to get something without having you "Must do X to get Y'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now if this is what the Doc is actually saying I'm all for that.
EDIT: As I re-read what he posted, it sounds like that is what he is saying.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think he's saying that.
If he *is* saying that (and I'm misreading) then my response is: No.
Actually, not just no, it's... HELL no.
I don't want to run a TF and end up 1% of the time getting a drop I could have gotten killing Longbow on the street. if I run a TF I want a reward for running a TF. It's a huge time commitment, you need some guarantee of what that will yield.
[/ QUOTE ]
Would this work better for you? (Pool A is any monster)
Doing Pool A stuff 97% of the time you get Pool A; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool C; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool B stuff 98% of the time you get Pool B; 1% from Pool C; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool C stuff 98% of the time you get Pool C; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool D
Doing Pool D stuff 98% of the time you get Pool D; 1% from Pool B; 1% from Pool C
Since Pool A is always available since you have to defeat NPCs to Pool B, C and D.
This way if you want X from Pool D but hate doing pool D stuff you could do A or B or C. Doing pool D stuff has a much better chance but not exclusive, just very very hard for other groups. -

But what's clear from this thread - and from many, many posts - is that bases are "too expensive". To me, that's interesting (as it is to the Serious Games crowd). Costume changes come with a minimal cost that no one really complains about, but we complain about the costs of bases. Evidently, the costs exceed the perceived value of creating one's own HQ (btw, I confess that many other games have the notion of personal property, but aside from Second Life, I don't think they offer as much customizability as our bases).
[/ QUOTE ]
Jack, you not been playing attention to what your team been doing with CoX. They been give out free costume tokens for most events. I have not payed to change my costume in like a year. Remove the cost to make bases and your see people making a lot more Bases. -

"...while CoV was still under pre-release development" is the bit that I (still) think everyone's missing. Don't misunderstand, I'm not exactly thrilled that CoH isn't getting more with the new issue. I'm not terribly disappointed either since I've personally yet to exhaust the existing game... but that's a whole 'nuther issue.
I just think the "seperate developer team" quote was a specific statement addressing a specific timeframe and that people have subsequently blown it way out of proportion.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep...my comments fall exactly into line with what you've said.
[/ QUOTE ]
Many have asked if we will have to wait the usual issue cycle until Issue 8 for some substantial new PVE content in CoH.
Is your expectation that such content will not come until Issue 8 and that Issue 8 will likely not come until 2-4 months after I7, or is such content further along in the queue such that we can expect to see it sooner than (march + 3 months =) July?
[/ QUOTE ]
Thought States said that he wanted patches to start coming out every 4-6 months. I am not expecting Issue 8 until Sept. -
[ QUOTE ]
As several have noted, I7 features content mostly for City of Villains (levels 41 to 50, in fact). This is exactly what we did for CoH. City of Heroes will receive a cool graphics upgrade, new base items (Empowerment stations!) and access to Recluses Victory. Its true that CoV received more attention, but thats mainly because we needed to fill out the levels. I had the option of releasing I7 or waiting until we could fill out the City of Heroes content. Obviously, I chose the former. New content should get out there when its ready. We'll be focusing equally as much as possible on each product moving into the future...
For those who have speculated that Newspaper missions are coming to City of Heroes, they arent yet. Thats coming a little later in the year. Id like to add something different to the CoH system
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you for posting this to let the communitity know that not much is coming for the Heroes in Issue 7. -

The people with COH have waited for something new for months and month and have got nothing. You don't alienate one group to improve another.
[/ QUOTE ]
Assuming Gamespot has the correct release month... we'll only have waited for 8 months since the last PvE content addition to CoH. Its gets better when you look at I8 being another 2 to 4 months after that... releasing it 10 to 12 months after the last PvE update to CoH.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sometime in April is a good guess. It's not like I7 going to be on test for a week or 2. I expect at least a month of testing. -

City of Villains update en route
Update to NCsoft's sinister MMORPG adds high-level zones, new missions. Heroes also get new graphics, tweaks.
NCsoft today revealed the plans for the first update to City of Villains, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game dedicated to super villainy. Issue 7: Destiny Manifest will be a free auto update for paying subscribers to the PC game and will be released this April.
New Mayhem Missions will see bad guys attacking Paragon City with new timed missions. The open-ended missions let gamers rob stores, take on the police, and harass citizens, while destroying city blocks and gaining bonus rewards.
Villains will also get a new set of more than 300 missions, new Patron Power Pools, new Power sets, and the high-level zone of Grandville, where mutated spiders and Lord Recluse will do their best to stop gamers.
City of Heroes will also benefit from the update, with new user-interface tweaks, graphical upgrades, and features being installed in both games.
City of Villains is rated T for Teen and retails for $39.99. For more information on the game, zoom over to GameSpot's review.

Well, at least Gamespot understands that this is a City of Villains update.
Like that we get a release date for it too, sometime in Apirl. -

Issue 6: 3 new pvp zones.... and I can't think of other CoH stuff. =0_o= Much complaining is done for, well, the same reason (sure, if you bought CoV, then you've got lots to do, but those who didn't, but still have to download that monster...).

B) Until my heroes can crossover into the Villain PVE zones, the fact that I've purchased CoV doesn't do them a whole heck of a lot of good.

The game doesn't revolve around Heroes, luv. And certaintly not yours. Just because they didn't give you something specific for some specific characters* doesn't mean that this issue isn't a very very good thing. Just from this press release alone we've gotten so much more fantastic content for CoX! Why the heck are you complaining that it's not enough?
(* They DID give you new things! New costume peices, new SG base additions, a whole new zone to play in!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Look, flame on all you want, I'm not rising to the bait anymore. If you want to view my post as a request that the entire game revolve around my specific characters, then you're more interested in convincing yourself I'm a twerp than in having a civilized discussion.
Ladied and gentlemen, I am a twerp.
Voila, you can be happy now.
I think you might want to highlight my first post here and re-read it with the blue-ed out text visible. I see a lot of good news in this press release, and my only real concern is that it didn't include an announcement of content for the PVE segment of CoH.
I've explained elsewhere why I don't think that's an unreasonable request. If you don't buy that logic, we can agree to disagree.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, in my opinion, the reason they did not tell us more about all the wonderful stuff City Of Heroes is getting is because there is none. I do not think Cryptic is so stupid that they would make a PR post that only tells us about all the wonderful stuff CoV is getting and not mention what they are adding to CoH.
It would be like you have 2 children.
You tell Sally that she is getting a Pony, a Dollhouse, A Teddybear, some new Dolls, new clothes, new shoes, new books.
You tell Bobby that he getting new clothes, new shoes, new books and you are repainting his room.
Bobby going to complain even if you are planning to give him some shiny new toys later because he can not read mind and only see all the Toys Sally is getting.
Since they should know by now that we pretty much act like little kids, if there were shiny toys for CoH, they sure would of told us about them to keep us quiet.
Another point, what would they get by not announcing a new zone or zone revamps for CoH later then doing it now?
Sorry, I am not expecting anything new for CoH. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd bet the new costume options are no doubt the shared costume peices for heroes from the villain side if you own both games and maybe some unique costume parts depending on which villain you ally with.
[/ QUOTE ]
We may get trenchcoats. Only reason I suggest that is one of the asian release signature heroes is wearing one. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is still an issue with FF versus Sonic Resonance. The same things that debuff defense for melee debuff defense for FF.
That is, I think, one of the first discrepencies pointed out between the two sets; FF suffers from far more debuffs than SR.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, was wondering why nothing here for Force Fields. -
Hope everything goes well with your brother.
As I tell friends in my guild, real life comes first.
I know CoH is your job but good jobs let you get time off for family needs.
On being honest in your posts, please continue. LOL, just expect some posters to be honest right back at you.
