  1. Actually it wasn't the real horn according to Tormund Giantsbane. The "real one" is currently with Sam at the Citadel.

    (Note-quotes)
  2. Let me just say how happy I am to see this thread finally made! Love the discussions.

And also let me say how confused I am that somebody thinks Bran is a scumbag. How can a ten year old be a scumbag? Anxiously waiting for this explanation. Should be fodder for a juicy bit of debate.

Oops forgot she's already mentioned Sansa.

Not sure what the rules are for this thread but GRRM has released three chapters from The Winds of Winter so I'll put a spoiler tag here just in case.

    SPOILER FOR BOOK 6

Yeah, Stannis is definitely not the prophecy BUT after reading his chapter from book 6 I kind of see that maybe Martin has much more in store for Stannis and it was the first time I've seen him truely written as 'kingly'. It's a great chapter if you haven't read it, btw.

Heck, even Brienne just spontaneously shows up. Would have liked just a little insight into how she got out of that situation.
The question is what single word could she have said to make Lady Stoneheart let her live?
  6. Doubtful, the real question is will he become Azhor Azhai reborn or was he just wounded?

I think in discussing some theories it can give facts about future events (even some about who lives and who dies which in the GRRM world can be spoilery) that some people may not want to know now. Personally I'll try to refrain from getting too far ahead of the series. Although it's hard, because I love talking ASOIAF. It's a fair request. As mentioned the thread is about the tv show, not the books.

Yeah, I think we're getting a bit too spoilery for those who haven't read ahead. I've redacted my last post containing abbreviations. Let's not ruin it for others or at least carefully put up spoiler warnings.

That said, almost all the information about said theory comes from Book 1 which I think at this point really isn't spoilery. But I agree with your sentiment and have made proper adjustments.

    First...Tyrian is awesome.

Second...loved Daenarys verbally laying the smack down on that elfy brother. Not very intelligent to try and assault the wife of the leader of a horde of Mongolians. Especially when he has literally nothing to back up any threats.

    Third...the Wall is awesome.

Fourth...I would love someone to sit Robert down and say about that cowardly little PITA Joffrey, "That kid really looks like his father..." (because I'm guessing he isn't Robert's).

    Fifth...Iron for the Iron Throne!
Good early observations. All 5 so true. (I really love Book 2 and 3 Tyrion...he gets even awesomer and we're starting to see it on the show now)

  12. I could write several pages about why (removed). If anyone would like to hear some of the arguments just PM me. I'd rather keep those kind of long term (spoilerish) type things out of the thread for others sake.

    Also......Davey- PM sent.
  13. Soooooo, Lothic. If Buffy is essentially Wonder Woman, then I guess you have seen her on TV in the last 30 years.

    /runs out of thread ducking.
  14. Late Book Spoilers................you've been warned.......................

Actually after I posted that I had a thought at lunch. Maybe some of the content (I think Dany's rise in the slaver cities could work or the Dornish parts of Feast) could be made into a for-HBO movie or 2-3 hour miniseries to get some of the wheel spinning out of the way to keep the show moving forward.
  15. (Slight book spoilers...nothing too specific)

Yeah it would only make sense to combine Feast and Dance given they take place at the same time. Whether or not it would be one or two seasons is debatable and depends on how the important the happenings in Dorne turn out. I also think the famous Myrenese Knot that GRRM struggled with so much can be pared down considerably to convey the same thing. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the three slaver cities end up being only one.
  16. (Not addressed to anyone specifically, just in general)

I think fans have gotten way too worked up about the delay of the last few books and the future of the franchise. GRRM has addressed those issues (like the reasons or not) and given the freight train that is ASOIAF now as compared to 10 years ago there is no way you'll see delays like you did before. Too many people are relying on them to come out now. The books will be completed before the series. I have no doubt. (Unless the series is pulled before for other reasons.......(see Luck) )
  17. I probably cared 17 years ago. Now? Not so much.

(For clarity, that isn't a jab at anyone that still enjoys the show or a knock on the show itself. It's just odd he breaks this info out this many years later.)

From what I understand it's a contractual thing with the producers. Not a road block or anything, but something about the wording of their deal that just needs to be renegotiated before they can make season 3/4 consectutive shooting known.

    I wonder too.

The article says it will 'likely end with the RW' not that it's definite. Is it the perfect place to end a season? Oh yes.
  20. And it was also confirmed that season 3 will be the first half of Book 3.

Ahhhhhhh, you rapscallion. I see what you did there.
  22. Where did you see that, Antistar? At the top of my head I can't think of a house with a shark sigil. The Kraken is Greyjoy, the trout is Tully, the merman is Manderlay but I can't say I remember reading about a house and a shark sigil. Will do a bit of research and see.
  23. I really enjoyed Episode 2.

    Especially:

    1. Pyke. A pitch perfect representation of that part of the book. Balon was great and Yara (Asha) while not how I'd pictured her was an interesting and I think, a successful take on the character.

    2. Arya and Gendry. Great chemistry between the two. The other recruits (young and old) were done well too.

    3. Tyrion's scenes were great as usual, especially sending Slynt packing to the Night's Watch. Also his back and forth with Cersei over the death of their mother sheds some important light into his motivations and demons.

    4. Gilly and Sam and Ghost. Nice work on the dire wolves for a tv budget.

This season looks incredible. Movie quality cinematography and again surprisingly good child actors.

I would go into the few shortfalls the episode had (Ros and Littlefinger), but overall it was a very strong episode and it overcame such a small scene anyway.
