Quote:You've misread the FAQ. Global names will not change like this - it may actually be preferred if they change it to what you're suggesting!Alright, let's cut down to the nut here:
Let's say there's a EU account global handle called @name. Is there really a difference between that and @EUname? Do you think people will suddenly be confused by the EU in front and not know it's you, or start calling you something different when referring to you?
- Login Names will have EU prepended (e.g. EUmasterzaprobo)
- Global names will have characters dropped (e.g. @Master Zaprob)
I think most would prefer if we get both prepended with EU - so I'd become "EU Master Zaprobo" if there was a conflict. This is assuming nothing else could be worked out. -
Oh, here's another point that's not been answered in the FAQ... what happens to Global Channels?
EU channels like Defiant Events or Union Chat will probably have no collision however EU channels like Masterminds and Mission Architect most likely will.
What's going to be the deal here? -
Quote:The key isn't the sacrifice, but the reassurance that every other feasible manner to resolve this without loss for anyone has been looked at.Yes, it stinks that some European players will have their global names altered - I would be disappointed if it happened to me too - but isn't that kind of a small sacrifice to make for access to, what... 11 more servers?
I'm sure if Paragon/NCsoft have considered every angle (within a reasonable time/cost analysis) then us EU-types will be fine. As it is, this has been dropped on us fait accomplis and that's why you're getting the reaction you are doing.
We're all very happy for the change, we just don't want any impact that could be avoided to not be avoided.
As can be seen in the thread, Z is taking suggestions back to Paragon/NCsoft where he feels they are viable - if people have ideas to fix/reduce the problem then now is the time to air them! -
Quote:Okay, so the change is a done deal. Can we at least get a Yea or Nay on...Again, I do understand preemptive frustration, especially if you are one of the few players actually effected by this policy. I sincerely hope that should you be effected you will view this as a minor bump in the road to creating a truly global Community.
Quote:Suggestion #2: A free reactivation weekend for US and EU before the List Merge to coincide with a new Global Name Rename. We can then use this time to create junk Global Names where needed. -
Okay, then perhaps in the case of name collisions ONLY, both could be renamed with a "_EU" or "_US" postfix.
This way, any inactive Globals are by definition wiped out and the Global Rename will allow the active player to take the name. Plus, in the case of a conflict, it's a free-for-all.
Of course, I'd prefer an account age priority system (not activation date, but by veteran status, essentially) as fairer.
I'd also still like to see an account merge (if feasible). -
-
Why is there no option for account merges? I have an old inactive US Account (Pre-City of Villains) and my current active EU Account. There is obviously no clash between EU and US account merges aside from the Global Handles. As such...
Suggestion #1: Allow all players to merge one EU account and one US account into a unified account, specifying which is the "primary" account that remains active. This way we can choose what our login name will be.
Additionally, I have no idea what my US Global Handle is! Or if it would clash, so...
Suggestion #2: A free reactivation weekend for US and EU before the List Merge to coincide with a new Global Name Rename. We can then use this time to create a junk Global Name. -
Yeah, but I wouldn't say no to it
* Vitae = Self Buff (with Incarnate Level Shift)
* Hybrid = Damage Proc
* Genesis = Perma-Pet (with Incarnate Level Shift)
* Mind = AoE Mez
* Omega = Global Enhancement Slot (with non-Incarnate Level Shift)
You know, the current slot names almost work with this scheme I came up with -
Let's have a look at what we already have...
- Global Enhancement Slot (with non-Incarnate Level Shift)
- AoE Attack
- Temp Pet (with Incarnate Level Shift)
- Debuff Proc
- Team Buff (with Incarnate Level Shift)
So perhaps, as a kind of mirror to what we already have, we could get...- Self Buff (with Incarnate Level Shift)
- Damage Proc
- Perma-Pet (with Incarnate Level Shift)
- AoE Mez
- Global Enhancement Slot (with non-Incarnate Level Shift)

While I have Heroes on Union (barely played), villains on Defiant (frequently played) I may start up a mix on another server (as I'm now in the US and playing in the evening would be easier on a US server).
-
Quote:It isn't - have you seen FR/DE players on the EU Test Server? Their badge titles, power names, etc. are all in their chosen language. All it needs is a UI option to make the language selectable and you're away!I wonder if they might try making it so that the language isn't built in, and could be changed on any server?
They could even solicit for the data files to be translated by the community to support even more languages! -
-
Quote:Actually, there'll still be a need for separate events (to account for timezones) but singular Test Server access will be all to the good (especially since I'm physically located in the US now, so can do both EU and US timed events[...] and no need for separate Euro and American events on the two separate Test servers.
)
It also means that the EU Test Server can be retired, so less stress for the sysadmins (those unsung heroes of CoH!) -
Quote:Lists. You'll be able to pop over to Union (Onion) or Defiant (Deviant) and we'll be able to pop onto Freedom (Freedumb)EU and NA servers 'merged'....does that just mean the servers show up on our list (and vice-versa) or are they actually merging servers (with name issues/etc)?
Or I can pop over to my old hangout - Pinnacle. -
Quote:Nah, just thisDid I just see jetpacks in there? Color-tintable jet packs?
Really? -
I'm hoping there'll be a merger option so I can finally access my old US account characters (nothing I'm urgently wanting access to, or I would have transferred them over back when I migrated but I'd hate to see the account "wasted")
-
Apparently more information will be incoming on Monday/Tuesday (including, potentially, something to do with the Passport badge)
-
Yep! I actually cheered a little just reading the text stream
-
As of the PAX East CoH Panel the devs have announced that a NA and EU Server List merge is coming soon.
That is all -
Thanks for that! Nothing outstanding about that trailer, as I can see but nice to get a peek at it anyhow
Will look forward to the slideshow -
There was a server-wide crash so no worries - we were all locked out. I got back in and had a little Lambda run with NCsoft_Avatea (who had to pop off early) and Beastyle but our team of 8 couldn't put out enough damage during the Lab/Warehouse stages to get enough temp powers to seal the deal!
Still, had a little test of the new legacy Team UI and how Interface works with Mastermind henchmen. Plus, threw around Ion Judgement a few times.
Many thanks to War Witch for restoring a bit of faith on my end by handing out Incarnate Threads (my wife said I should pop by incase the devs did this, and she's been proved right - as a "reward" she's making me take her to the casino tonight!) -
All the Lore pets are already visible ingame as NPC's. While logged in to the forums, see this thread for an excellent reference guide.

Demons have a lot of varied mitigation (Res, Heals, Holds, Slows) and to my mind slightly outpace Robotics (Def, Heals, Knockback) in terms of design. Thugs only has defense, and Mercs only have Heals.
For good defense via Secondaries, you'd immediately go for Traps or Forcefields, however others have pointed out for you that Dark Miasma and I'd add (to a lesser extent) Pain Domination as being able to heal itself (and add regen, and some other great buffs for extra damage).
At the end of the day it's your choice - while some Mastermind sets are held in lower esteem than others at the end of the day you will be a Mastermind and hence have decent damage and support powers no matter your selection. -
Quote:Those would be "Defiant Events" and "Defiant Chat Channel"Join some of the global channels. Which server do you play on mainly? I know for one that Union Chat and sals badgehunters are good channels to join if you are looking for people to team with (union wise). Defiant Channels, not so sure on.
Quote:*3rd note: There have been general rumblings *since* the decimation of the EU office, that the EU players are viewed as "2nd Class Citizens" of the game. Hell, we are pushing (and have been for quite a while) of a merger of the server lists as well... (for better or for worse it would bring the communities closer together).
That's right, not the servers, but put Defiant, Union, Zukunft and Vigilance on the same list with Freedom, Virtue, Champion, Pinnacle (my old server before I transferred), etc.
The EU servers are already physically in the US, so I can't imagine there are that big a technical hurdles left for it (as there are/were already East Coast and West Coast physically located servers) and only red tape ones. -
Lore slots are unaffected by anything except Alpha and Interface. So you won't be perma-Lore. On the upside, you do get two new henchmen!
