  1. Ah! An organised respec trial, and here's me needing the third badge!

Sign up Master Zaprobo, L50 Bots/FF MM.
  2. I'll add my wants to this...

    - Branching missions for arcs (Succeed in Mish 1, skip to Mish 3 else go to Mish 2)

    - Variable text based on Origin/Archetype (e.g. computer glowie that says "You disable the computer" for Tech Origin or "You smash the computer" for any other Origin)

    - Variable missions based of Origin/AT (e.g. If you are a Stalker you are given a mission achievable by stealth otherwise a mission to Defeat All)

    - Player power mockups (e.g. if I want to create an NPC pet or foe with player powersets I can do - not the full powersets but enough for flavour)

As I'm sitting here planning out my three story arcs, I'm finding myself hoping we have access to the branching dialog tech that is previewed in the Origin of Powers arcs.

For instance, I want a computer that needs shutting down to say one thing for Tech Origins and another for anyone else.

Also to have hidden clickies a la the Midnighters Club/University Tutorial. Not as mission objectives but as flavour.

    Tankermind

I'd say so - so long as you're using Provoke to ensure you get the aggro and not the bots.

Traps offers a good range of tools to offset the incoming damage - increased Regen, Defense and Debuffs. Biggies to take and slot would be Acid Mortar, Poison Trap, FFG and Triage Beacon.
  5. An engine update? Well, it would be good for the game, so long as there's a little something in the content stakes as well. The game already looks good on high graphics, so I guess if its that route I'd like to see the underlying tech of the engine changed to allow things like power customisation down the line.

For my money I'd like to be seeing a new shelf presence - an actual boxed update a la other MMO's. Not so much as whole new zones you can only access with the boxset, but perhaps new powersets and access to missions in new zones you wouldn't otherwise get. Kinda like purchasable EAT's (except with powersets, not AT's)...
  6. (QR)

Oh I'm not saying the delays aren't understandable and I realise why the events are being integrated but... I smell something more than we've been told.
  7. The point is, by December we'll already be two "full" issues worth of content development down the line. for them to badge it all under a single issue... well, I'm not expecting small potatoes....
  8. So, I read an intriguing post on the US Dev Digest this morning. NCNC are currently maintaining the Issue 12 Build to add in the Halloween and Winter event changes they are planning (source).

Yep, there is a chance that Issue 13 may not be ready until December/Early 2009. The longest period I can recall without an official issue.

NCNC as a new studio has also been ramping up the number of staff from their previous meagre crew so they have more resources to bring to bear during this timeframe they've given themselves.

I'm adding these two things together and I can't quite shake the feeling that there is going to be something groundbreaking in the history of the game coming up.

Things we know are on the cards are changes to SG Bases, Villain Patron Respecs, Shields Powerset and Player Created Missions. This isn't enough to require all that development time, surely.

There's something new, and I can smell it... any thoughts from anyone?
  9. The character will remain, in some form or another
  10. Also, said few hundred words are not altogther there grammatically...

Still, sounds lke our itinerant reviewer had fun! So thats all good
  11. I saw that when it first made its way out on the US Forums. The Boom De Yada video is also very good from the current crop of CoX YT's.
  12. Works for me Oh, just so everyone knows in advance I'll be demorecord'ing the fight and it will be making an appearance on Journal of a Mastermind.

    Coop Zones

I hate the idea - mainly for story reasons. Most of the new co-op zones are bad enough with non-specific villain content.

Villains need more machiavellian schemes and dirt evil tasks as befits their Destined One/Arachnos status, not to be the sidekick of some cowl-clad fool

Ouroboros had the best split so far - pitting heroes and villains against each other in a similar fashion. Same with the Midnighters Club.

Cimerora is okay, though the motivation for villans to assist should be a bit more compelling earlier on...
  14. All,

I would hope many of you have on occassion managed to read Journal of a Mastermind (http://zaprobo.blogspot.com/) and been amused by the antics of my Mastermind, Master Zaprobo. His exploits have led him from L1 all the way to L50 and beyond.

However, now I am entering the final showdown of his career - the show down with Lord Recluse. I will be joined in this task with as many members of my SG as I can muster, but I have also teamed with many excellent players external to ARAD.

To this end, and obviously within the limits of who is available, I would like to invite people to join me in taking down Lord Recluse. I am planning to do so this coming Sunday 27th at 1700hrs UK Time.

Minimum level will be L49 as I can not guarantee any Lackey spots (mine is already taken).

I hope to see some familiar faces there!
  15. I can't have both? Oh wait, I can I just ave to wait a few months for the privledge!

As a side note - I had a problem using my Solo card on a secondary account recently with the option not showing - a quick message to Customer Support got them to fix the problem with the account.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem of course being that you were using a "do not trust this person" Solo card. I hope that customer support were able to direct you to a nice bank account using Visa. Not Visa Electron though, of course.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, they simply fixed the account so I could use the Solo card. Like I do on the other account.

I don't like using my Visa Debit card

    For the .......IP ?

For the Intellectual Property. Meaning they're having to do this to support something in the pipework.

Havnt we already kind of merged?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did everyone have access to both games regardless of which ones they had on their account before now?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. There was a one-time grant of the "other" game a while back, but otherwise we've been nominally separated.

Of course, you're right - not much of a change but its an interesting sign that they're doing this "for the IP".

There is a reason for the rejoicing in Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. It is official – NCsoft has completely merged the two games into one game universe. All current subscribers who only had one of the games (City of Heroes or City of Villains) now have access to the features of both games. Additionally, all City of Heroes and City of Villains games for sale at retail or online will grant access to both games.

This is the final step needed in preparing the IP for future projects, to be announced later this year. Paragon City and the Rogue Isles have always been a part of the same game universe. When City of Villains launched in 2005 as a stand-alone game, it did not launch with an extra subscription fee, so there has always been this feeling that they are closely related. What’s different here is that NCsoft has taken down the barrier where players had to have a City of Villains serial code to make a villain, and vice versa. Now, it doesn’t matter if you bought Heroes or Villains, you can make characters from either faction and experience their unique game content. Additionally, Heroes now have access to base building, which was previously only available if you had purchased City of Villains.

“In setting the stage for our upcoming plans for the IP, we felt the time was right to truly consolidate the City of Heroes and City of Villains universe,” said Brian Clayton, General Manager and Executive Producer. “We have removed all restrictions that were created when City of Villains launched in order to make way for some really cool content and features we have in the pipeline. This is an evolution of the IP that lays the foundation for what’s to come.”

The most recent game update, Issue 12: Midnight Hour, launched in May and included a wealth of features, including a new Greek and Roman inspired zone, Villain Epic Archetypes, Powerset Proliferation, as well as more character slots so that players can try out the new character powers and Archetypes.

“We know that character variety is one of our greatest strengths and that’s why our players love to create new characters” said Matt Miller, Lead Designer. “Even former players who reactivate will be pleasantly surprised to see new open character slots waiting for them.”

Uniting the City of Heroes universe enables the development team to focus on other features slated to come in future installments. Improvements to Supergroup Bases and raids, an offline character reward system, and the previously revealed Mission Maker are just some of the systems that will see the benefits of a unified City of Heroes game.

Check the sticky in this forum - has a link to a bunch of guides for that sort of thing
  24. My secondary MM is a Necro/Poison that has been sitting at L32 for a while (more from PC problems than lack of interest).

He's actually good fun to play and makes a change from Bots/FF.
