Kioshi,
Thank you for your help.
God of Gods,
Huh?

I'm trying out a solo/pve Stalker (Energy Melee/Energy Aura), and I was hoping for some feedback/comments/secret codes for instant world domination. Is this build any good? I based it loosely off of a few of the FAQs I found in the official threads, but most of them seem to be rather old.

Okay, the Cavern of Transendence was such an awesome success, I'm going to try this again
. Tomorrow, I'd like to do Positron's TF, say at around 1pm Pacific Time. If anyone is interested, please either post here, or send me a tell in game. (@Marc L, or Taranna (I'm going to be leveling my villaness today), or Lady Bloodwine.

I would agree with most of that & yeah your gonna be hard pressed to find anything but AE to do that weekend. I won't even bother logging my Stone Brute out of fear of the tidal wave of PMs. For all the nerfing they do in the name of game longevity, they sure shot themselves in the foot with this one. I know why they created it, and I have played some pretty cool player created Arcs, but they knew damn well and good that farming is what people were going to do with this.
[/ QUOTE ]
My quick tip for everyone that hates blind invites and PM's:
type /hide into your chat box. The "Hide" menu pops up, select "Hide from Searches". That will instantly stop most of your blind invites and PM's, while leaving you still visable to your friends, chat channels, super group, etc. As soon as I create a toon, I go into hiding.
Luna
[/ QUOTE ]
Luna, you are my new goddess. Even with putting myself to "not accepting invites," I still get invites. Even putting "send tell first" gets me a tell, then an instant invite. It's been driving me batty!

I'm confused
[/ QUOTE ]
Me too. I'm actually in the Navy, and our CO gave us a surprise 4 day weekend for being good Sailors. That's why I'm home. Of course, I get a four day weekend, and, somehow, am not only unable to sleep late, I end up waking up an hour and a half early.
There is no justice in this universe.

I want to say thank you to everyone who helped me with this mission this morning. I really didn't expect such a quick response. Like I mentioned in game, I've been trying to get a group together for close to two weeks, and been stuck at lvl 15 for one of them. I just wish I'd have thought to post here sooner.
Thank you all again!
Marc -
Hi all, I'm a lvl 15 Blaster (fire/eng) who is looking to do the Cavern of Transcendence Trial this weekend (in the Hollows). I'd like to get it done today (Friday, July 10) if possible.
Today is my day off, so I'll likely be on all day (mostly), so please either send me a tell in game (Lady Bloodwine, or @Marc L), or post here if you're interested. I live on the West Coast, so I'm in the Pacific Time Zone (3 hours earlier than the East Coast).
Thanks,
Marc -

I will try posting for it, then. Although, with Rikti weekend starting tomorrow, I might just wait until later, and try to snag Positron tomorrow during the day (four day weekend, woot!) Thanks for your advice, all.

Unless I am totally missing something, the only announcement I see for the Rikti Invasion Weekend states it's NEXT weekend.

You're missing the fact that I live in a time warp that's approximately 1 wk ahead of reality. Thus, next weekend is this weekend...

Is anyone doing this anymore? I've been sitting at lvl 15 for about a week, trying to get a team together, but no luck. Are people waiting until 50th, and just doing it then, or am I just being incredibly unlucky? I'm a badger, so I really want to complete it, if just for the badge, but is it something I'd be better off waiting for?
Marc -
I'm playing a level 12 character, and wanted to attempt to be able to afford IO enhancements for him. I figured the best way was to disable my xp earning until I had enough cash to pay for recipes and salvage.
It wasn't quite going fast enough, so I decided to try the MA missions in Cape Au Diable. I figured, earn enough tickets, buy some of the rare salvage from the ticket vendor and sell it.
Except, I did 2 missions, and no tickets-even for completing the mission. Figuring it had to do with me not earning xp, I switched it back on, and ran another mission. Still no tickets.
Is there something going on that I don't know about? Or am I just extremely unlucky?
Marc -
The answer is probably the obvious one, but I wanted to double check. If a Task Force Contact is shown as having a level range of 15-20 (Synapse), does that mean that the person accepting the TF can be no higher than 20?
-
Okay, here is (I hope) the perfect build, taking both Milady's and Besser's suggestions. I will look more into the Invention Enhancements, as well.
Besser, I couldn't find a Stealth IO that would go into Sprint in Mids, but I will look at Wentworths. I did find a recipe for $45m(!), but it was for Celerity +Stealth. I'm not sure if that's slotted into Sprint or not.

Rick Davies is a Tech contact and should introduce you to one of the following other Tech contacts:
Maurice Feldon
Paula Dempsey
Tony Kord
I don't know that there is any pattern to it, but usually they give you a choice, and if not, you can sometimes do a few more missions and get another contact.
You might also try Caitlin Murray (the Tech contact in Galaxy City), and see if she will do anything for you.
As for the Negotiator badge, you can get the mission from any of the 3 lvl 5-10 Tech contacts that I listed above anyway, be on a team when somebody else runs it, or run it from Ouroboros later on.
[/ QUOTE ]
I will give it a shot, then. Thanks -
Does Rick Davies no longer introduce Tony Kord? I've played through his missions, and he introduced me to someone named Maurice Feldon. I am level 5, so I was expecting Tony. If this is no longer the case, how does one get the Negotiator badge?

I always preferred sneaking up behind them and knock them out with a good one-two punch (Energy Punch + Bone Smasher). Or just jump up to one during a fight and SMACKDOWN! They won't have time to hit back, trust me. People with Hover can't pull this off, but CJ and Hurdle gives you great combat mobility.
If you want high single target damage you need to use your secondary. The post wasn't really directed at you though, I just never see any brave (hitting people from behind, but up close kind of brave) blasters anymore. I'm also convinced that CJ gives you better survivability than Hover. If you Hover the mobs know they can't get to you and just shoot at you. If you CJ the fools think they can reach you and spend more time running than shooting. This could be all in my mind though, they might just chase me while their ranged attacks are recharging. It's not like I have time to analyze the situation.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, you've given me some food for thought. I've been playing this build for a couple of levels now, and I do kind of enjoy Power Thrust.
Do you have some suggestions for how to modify my build to meet what you said? When I get to the point where they let me choose alternate builds (lvl 10, I think), I can set both up and see which one works better for me. -

Like so many blasters I see here today you completely forgot the SMACKDOWN! Seriosly. Don't you want to defeat your enemies in a brutal and efficient manner?

Besserwisser, could you please explain what you mean?
[/ QUOTE ]
Besserwisser is talking about ignoring most of your secondary power set (many of which are melee attacks, especially in /Energy and /Electric) by staying out of melee range with hover.
[/ QUOTE ]
I confess, then, I am a wuss.I much prefer defeating my opponents before they can get to me.

Okay, I've tinkered with the build, based on what Milady said. How does this look?

Hover also lost it's knockback protection. You will want either acrobatics or a Knockback Protection Invention.

Is it better, then, to get Super Jump instead of Flight? That's the primary reason for Hover, IMO, because I like flying. Actually, I should say, is Super Jump alright for a blaster? Normally, I found that blasters benefited from Flight, since they can get away from baddies quicker.
I am working on the other changes you mentioned, but I wanted clarification on this. -
As you may know, I've returned to the game after a couple of years. Stupidly, I deleted my old toons, and have been trying brand new ones. I kinda like the ice/ice, but I'm feeling nostalgic for my old fire/eng, especially for farming badges. Rain of Fire is awesome for destroying multiple low level enemies at once. (I got her up to 36th lvl-like I said, stupid).
Rather than try and hunt through eons of postings to refind her build, I've tried using the hero designer. I used SO enhancements for two reasons: 1) I have no experience with IO's yet, and 2) Since I'll likely slot prior to SO's, I want to have some idea of what I'm going to work with. Please let me know what you think:

EmeraldIsleFury, I played your arc and quite liked it. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the fourth mission (my keyboard for some reason wouldn't let me use my number hot keys), but I will give you my impressions of the first three.
Things I liked:
Challenging. The first mission seemed straightforward, but there were enough surprise enemies to keep me on my toes. I was able to solo it, but it was difficult.
The second and third missions were diabolical :0). I liked the reveal of who the "Legendary Figures" were, and quite liked how you handled each one. I was extremely grateful for the allies you provided for each one.
Also, Countess Meme's name was quite apt for what you were doing.
Things I didn't like:
Not much, really. There was a typo in the first mission (the Wolf Enforcer says, "Their here." It should be "They're here." Also, in Countess Meme's description, the word "even" at the beginning isn't really necessary.
Another thing, you've got Nix' name as "Rescue Nix." Not sure if that was intentional, though.
I personally don't like office missions, as they're a pain in the butt to explore and make sure you've got everything. Especially with surprise Arachnos' on your heels! (That's a personal thing with me, not an indictment of your work).
Overall, I quite liked it, and am giving you 5 stars.
I'd appreciate it if someone would review my story arc (#190909) It's called the Rise and Fall of the Skullettes. In the first mission, the hero accidentally kills his opponent during a bank heist (instead of just "defeating" him), and the story follows what happens after that.
I've been receiving some in game comments, so I started a thread for it here: https://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat...=0#Post13534921
Please play the arc and tell me what you think.
Marc -
I posted asking for reviews in the review thread, and I've gotten some in-game comments. Some people have offered some advice, and I was hoping they'd be willing to expand on that advice here.
The story is called "Rise and Fall of the Skullettes." It's five missions long, and chronicles the events that occur after the hero (the player) accidentally kills one of the Skull leaders during a bank heist.
The leader's girlfriend forms her own squad of Skullettes and takes over the Skulls, leading eventually to a showdown with the hero.
It's already been commented that some of the custom boss' descriptions need to be fleshed out, and I will work on it. Also, someone mentioned they felt that the Skullette's portrayal seemed a bit sexist. I consider the Skulls themselves to be sexist. If you wander around King's Row and listen to the Skulls talk about their girlfriends, or even the girls themselves talking, they aren't exactly enlightened males.
I will also, as promised, finish reviewing "Legendary Clones" (which is currently kicking my heinie and post it in the review thread.
Thank you for your help.
Marc -
Oops. Sorry about that. I will review another person's, then. Hopefully either tonight or tomorrow.

Looking for some feedback on my first story: #190909.
