Quote:I remember how rough that transition was...you received a lot of unfair treatment during JFA's formation Tic-Toc and I was really disappointed in how some folks attacked you. I'm really sad that you felt and became so isolated from the Justice community. I for one have always appreciated all the hard work that you did for our community. I wasn't around to witness much of what you did since a lot of it was before my time; however, you helped lay the groundwork for a lot of the staples that I enjoy and feel make our Justice community so awesome. I hope that your RL calms down enough in the future that we will see a bit more of you...the community truly hasn't been the same without you.I think Justice For All was the breaking point for me. That's the first time where I really felt isolated from the Justice community and cast doubt on my intentions up to that point. I don't think I ever really recovered from that. I no longer felt that I had a role in the server community, especially when the flashback system and event messages were added to chat making the need for a heavily moderated badge channel kind of moot. RL stepped in shortly after wards demanding more and more of my time. So, maybe it was all for the best.
There are so many individuals like yourself, past and present, who have stepped up and have gone that extra mile to make our community a better place. Unfortunately, there are those players who place unrealistic expectations and/or drag unwanted drama when it comes to our community leaders...those players forget that this is a game and our community leaders sacrifice precious time and energy for the love of this game and our community. They do the things that a lot of other players are unwilling to do and all the while, they undergo scrutiny for a job that they don't get paid to do. It's unfortunate that many of the things that they do are taken for granted and often goes unthanked.
So thank you to all those individuals who have done or currently do the dirty work that make our community so great. And to those who gripe, complain and/or create drama towards those who do all this hard work...contribute a solution, step up to create your own community network or keep your traps shut! -

Quote:I do concur that you can't keep kids in a bubble. I only brought up the "kid friendly" bit not as a call for JFA to change, but because Chrome mentioned in his OP that JA is to be family friendly and moderation of will be conducted with kids in mind. I don't want JFA to change...it was just one example of why there's room for multiple all-in-one global channels with different "flavors," that's all.And perhaps I have an unorthodox view, but you can't keep children in a bubble. Teenagers are always more savvy and worldly than the generation before them, and even I have been reduced to blushing at things that come out of their mouths (no easy feat, I can assure you). Cai makes a great point that a lot of those conversations are started by kids, and quite frankly, it's not my job to be an online parent to someone else's kid. Making something "youth friendly" (which is highly subjective, but not the point of this discussion) starts at home.

Quote:In hindsight, I wish I thought to have stopped at BevMo and had carted along some Sam Adams and Sudwerk Märzens to San Jose. Other than the couple sips of Somber's beer on Friday, didn't have any alcohol all weekend.I soooo wanted to grab a couple Sammies and bring em up but I didn't have a 20....
Though after falling asleep to the sounds of Somber's sweet bathroom lullaby at 6am Sunday morning, I'm kinda glad I didn't drink all that much... >.> -

Quote:Hell, I'm in the picture and even *I* have no clue what is going on there!I have no idea what's going on here, but it definitely needs some caption action.
Judging from the coffee in my hand, I was probably in some sort of fatigued zombie trance or something... -
Well, I'm more of a dark beer girl myself (or candy cocktails with a bit 'o kick). Plus, I just finished some Jameson not more than a couple minutes ago.
In Manoa's world, lite beer = tepid toilet water. -

Quote:Right. Justice United is not meant to completely replace JFA2010, but to enhance and supplement it and other event planning channels to make it easier for event planners (particularly new planners) to plan large-scale server events. JFA was originally created as an all-in-one event channel, but it doesn't hit all segments of the server population (for example, considering some of the conversations in JFA that have caught my eye, it's more adult oriented and isn't the most ideal channel for our younger players who need more of a family oriented setting). So, due to your dislike of a name we are supposed to just throw away a channel concept that has served us well for some time now?
What a concept.
Considering our server's size as well the limits of global channels (like population maximums), there's plenty of room for several large-scale all-in-one channels to suit everyone's tastes. Heck, Chrome Support and JFA co-existing for several years while serving similar purposes proves this point. If Chrome wants to take the extra step to facilitate large-scale event planning by further uniting our community and making communication between various event planning committees/globals go a little more smoothly, I see absolutely nothing wrong with this and am all for it. -
