I have trouble figuring out why Lord Recluse would expend such considerable resources to break the Destined Ones out of prison, and then institute a new plan that would render us irrelevant so soon after. Was he testing us, to see how loyal we were? How could we remain loyal if his success meant we would be meaningless to him? It seems inconsistent to me, but then, he’s been acting a little loony ever since he first got his powers, so what do I know?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The way I see it, Lord Recluse doesn't think that we are all Destined. He thinks some of us are, and he's trying to eliminate the ones that are not. Call it trial by fire. According to all I've seen, survival of the fittest is all that matters to him.
  2. Celtic:
The message I was delievering wasn't aimed at anyone in particular... you just happened to mention a related point that I agreed with.

    Beef_Cake:
I do believe that adding missions would improve the game. My statement was mostly in response to the fact that there are several glaring insonsistencies in the mechanic and in the implementation of some badges/powers/enemies/etc. I believe that some of those (in my opinion) detrimental issues need to be addressed before implementing this idea. Neither of my higher level toons have the badge, by the way.

Personally, I enjoy seeing other people put their ideas here in the forum. I believe that it is a good place to influence the direction of the miniature/immaterial society that Cryptic has made... one that we are all an active part of.

I would sincerely hope that some of the ideas that we came up with are used as explicitly as 'Kill Skuls'.

Has anyone else noticed that the people who are pro-Isolator are posting their reasonings, trying to make comparisons and generally being nice, tactful and civil about it? "I think the Isolator should be accessible under this and that circumstances...."

And the people who are anti-Isolator are pretty much being a pack of hostile, unreasoning, bullying, dismissive jackholes? "Just shut your mouth and suck it the hell up, n00b. Because I said so."

I'm sure there's a comparison to be made here, too. But I'll leave that open to interpretation.

Yeah. Pretty peculiar, huh? It makes you think.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep...it also makes you think how many people actually read my post pretty close to the beginning of this thread of why it shouldn't be in the game.

Oh...did you happen to miss it? Here you go:

    [ QUOTE ]
asking for something that takes resources, money, and time away from things that need it more (eg: bugs, powers, content)

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was only on the second page, too...

I'm not being a beligerant [censored] who doesn't want something in the game, I'm being a person who knows the value of a dollar, and knows that Cryptic's money can be put to better use elsewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with the sentiment that the resources would be better allocated in other endeavors. However, it doesn't hurt to let people think and/or dream out loud.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
planning to leave at 11:00, but of course, I always end up in a groove, with missions so close and/or tempting, or easy to finish, that I fall into the old, “Just one more…” trap.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've also been caught by this trap soooo many times.
  5. [ QUOTE ]

    Looks like 1.7 *0.075 for S/L, 2 * 0.075 for E/F/C and 1.4 * 0.075 for N.

    Very quick lookup, though

Those values are base for the specific toggles. I did not add in the stealth powers def bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So this is the base for Brutes? Are Stalkers lower than this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I would presume that the numbers are lower for Stalkers, but we need to consider that Stalkers also have the Defensive bonus from Hide.

Looking at the data, I would assume that the first number is the bonus granted by the power, and the second (0.075) is the multiplier for the Brute AT... but that is just a guess from a programmer's perspective.

Well to be fair, in comic books there's not much a group of superheroes can't do

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my opinion, that is what make CoH different. They are aware of the fact that, on a well balanced team, the individual component become godly.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
The devs don't seem to have a problem with people achieving the godlike powers such as the Regens and Invluns once wielded so long as they need teammates to acheive it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
You can see the potential when you play all Defender or all Corrupter groups.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Very true.
  8. To Phire: Playstyle does have a major impact of power selection and slotting. And that is why I couldn't use that build as effectively as you could.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
also, tell you what, if you want to feel what it was like to be a regen in Issue 1 or 2, make friends with an empath. Regen Aura, Adrenaline Boost, IH all cycled for 1000% healing at a time, your other heals, the Empaths heals, it's like traveling back in time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd take a Kineticist... but that's just me.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
and the craziest part is that people actually advocate skipping regen aura on an Empath because it doens't really do anything.

    [/ QUOTE ]

  11. [ QUOTE ]
Know what I'd like more than anything? For IH to have a 25-50% up front heal. I died several times yesterday duoing some AV - well, Elite Bosses now - just because I went from 50% to 0 in the time it took for IH before I could reap the regen bonus. We won't be getting that, but that would be just fantastic.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whenever I used to use IH (I only used it when I needed it in the middle of a fight back when it was a toggle) I would always hit Reconstruction first, then IH for that very reason.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
Needless to say... I've been married to the woman for the last 10 years

    [/ QUOTE ]

So corny pickup lines work after all?

    Who would have thunk it!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I send a broadcast saying good job, and once a tell to the person, I think. None of them ever replied at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is it possible that you (or maybe them) have Enemy chat disabled, which means you can't see any communications from them?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
For example, my main villain right now is a Mastermind called Loser, and it’s just hilarious how much fun the story text is now with that kind of name. Kalinda tells me: “Your future is looking quite bright, Loser.” Hah! On a mission with a video cutout, a Snake says, “But I heard there was someone sspecial. One they call Loser.” Brilliant! I’ve got guys telling me, “I have nothing more for you, Loser,” or “Great job, Loser!” I think it’s the best character name I have so far, just because of that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd agree with that! The comedic value of that name is going to go a long way.
  15. Don't forget screenshots... it would be great to use some for dramatic effect, I suggest one of Minotaurus fighting Trolls, and another of Xenozap Kid in the SG base.
  16. Excellent work!
Has this submitted to Arctic_Sun for inclusion in the monthly comic?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Trust me folks, nothing we say here could be worse than what the devs will think up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ain't that the truth!
  18. [ QUOTE ]
They're going to give <snip> QR an endurance cost ala Quickness

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now that would be ironic: a power that is supposed to restore endurance at a faster pace uses endurances while in use.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
When the hell did they switch Quick Recovery and Reconstruction??

    [/ QUOTE ]

    What?
  20. I hope that we are going to see some new content for the CoH 50s.
  21. One minor detail...

    [ QUOTE ]
    Special Note on Stealth
    .
Stealth powers generally break their concealment component when you either attack or are attacked. When the stealth is broken, most stealth powers that have a defense buff component will have about half their defense also suppressed while the stealth component is broken.
    .
The following stealth powers appear to suppress a portion of their defense when the stealth is broken:
    .
    Devices/Targetting Drone
    Illusion Control/Superior Invisibility
    Illusion Control/Group Invisbility
    Ice Control/Arctic Air
    Concealment/Stealth
    Concealment/Grant Invisibility
    Concealment/Invisibility

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ...should be Devices/Cloaking Device

Your work is still very impressive non-the-less Arcanaville!
  22. [ QUOTE ]
As a matter of fact, I wasn't even playing with IH on most of the time, and yes, I was soloing missions on Invincible. I only turned IH on for bosses and larger spawns, or when I was on a big team (like you said). It was still pretty much Easy Mode.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Question... was your Regen Scrapper a "pure" Regen, or did you dip into the Fighting Pool to get added Resistance and Defense?

I ask this because when I initialy built Major T, I didn't plan on taking Tough [and Weave]. He was going to be a "pure" Regen Scrapper in that the only meaningful form of damage mitigation he had was healing it back. After doing a respec on the test server to see how Tough affected his survivability, I couldn't believe how much more he could take on. If I had skipped the fighting pool as I initially intended, he wouldn't have been able to take on the +2 Nemesis Bosses as easily rapidly as he did in the previous Issues.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
As I said in the Regen nerf wars of I3 and I4, Regen by itself was incredible, but it was only with the addition of these other powers that it crossed into godly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And that is why I qualified my story with the fact that I was using Claws as a primary and using Tough. Regen by itself is useless if the opening attacks from two Bosses is enough to put you down... except for Revive.
