  1. perhaps a compromise, then? If the ships paths were adjusted to that they wouldn't come near enough to the actual objectives to hit the hypothetical lone hero? I see the ships as being there to keep the entire zone confused and frightened, and the troops (which already exist in the second part of the current version) there to actually get jobs done.

Also, there's something else to consider: In the Single Hero scenario, that hero is going to be defending one spot against constantly spawning Rikti for 25 minutes (your base fifteen, plus the other two objectives) This would end up being either nearly impossible (from the agro cap alone) to almost unnecessary (having an objective with enough hit points to withstand 25 minutes of attacks without defense)

It's very likely for a character to be defeated during a fight that long, either from running out of endurance because of constant attacks, or just from sheer numbers.and if one of those two aren't happening, the character has been run off to rest, given the invaders several seconds of free attack at the objective.
  2. Trues, sometimes it is appropriate, but the Rikti ships are the very reason this is actually considered a real threat, rather than just another Founders Falls, where Rikti spawn on city streets normally. The Ships are the threat of the invastion, and removing them like you suggest makes a Rikti raid as much a threat as the Hellion fires in Steel.

And yes, I consider a nerf severe enough to reduce them from a zoneevent to a single player smack to be congrouos to removing them entirely. Right now they are about the same difficulty as Hamidon Himself. It requires several dozen heroes working in tandem, and the one entity can wipe out entire teams with ease, either by the massive damage it puts out, or by the -Recovery component in the attacks that causes heroes to drop out of the sky.

In order to make it soloable, it would have to be reduced to somewhere between Boss and Elite Boss status, which would make the entire Invasion threat a laughable concept. These ships are the reason the Rikti are capable of mounting a city wide smashing, and they're no more powerful than anything that's come before?
  3. I have three comments on the newly revised idea:

    1) Reducing Rikti Invasion ships to the point where any single hero could take them down would be a application of the word 'nerf' in it's original definition. It's replacing an army of Axe wielding Mongols with a single anemic five year old with a foam bat, and still expecting the invasion to be taken as seriously. It's like trying to take over a city in a Volvo and a $5 bag of fireworks.

Suggestion: Leave the ships as they are, stats and travel paths. They can be considered 'carpet bombing' or 'cover fire'. That way, there is still a realistic seeming threat to the actual city.

    2) To be absolutely clear, any one invasion can take over no more than three zones before it is automatically stopped, and the zones reverted?

    3) In your example the Hospital gets taken over, does this mean players loose access to it? Is the same true about the stores, trainers, and other amenities in an occupied zone?

Sounds good. By the way, I do have a theme already lined up for the run as well.

    The Wind up

Well, managed to get to 45.2 tonight. Was a slow start, but once BB, Valk and Jan joined, it wasn't too long before we had a full team running. Tommorow will be a bit tricky, as I return to KJSR and Get Tanked, but we'll see how it goes.

It's about time to get off my butt and get Operative McGavin to 50. He's currently a little less than 44 and a half, and once I get the last arc wrapped up, I'll be pushing him to forty nine and a half, with anyone who will have me along.

Why fall short so close to the goal? Because McGavin was originally designed to be an Ex-Wolf Spider, incidentally well before VEATs were actually available. The end goal will be to have him ding 50 during a run of the Statesman's Task Force.

I'll keep track of how I'm doing here, and let folks know when it's time to gear up to bring down the big bug. Hopefully, it won't be too long.

  8. I'm kind of curious how you intend to let villains into 'part' of the zone. Putting up War Walls won't work, because that would hold the Heroes out (or in) that part as well.

  10. There's an arrow near the thread title that points downward that sort of works as a 'new post' button, but it doesn't work very well. As far as the collapsed threads go, if you look at the top of the page there's a bit of text that looks like this:

City of Heroes Forums > English > Servers > Protector

Hit the English link, it leads back to something a bit more familiar for us.

Meanwhile, I find that the new boards turn off Firefox's inherant spellcheck.
  11. Hm. Turning it off doesn't sound like a bad idea. Though I am curious as to how it's supposed to display high rep in that little square. Does it change colors or what?

Making sure this is saved in the board transfer (I hope). Kinda sorry I missed the start of this.

One thing I wonder- when we're fighting custom bosses, WHY oh WHY are they always dual blade wielders?

[/ QUOTE ]If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it was probably because it's all lethal damage, which is highly resisted, and there's not that much to begin with*. The only real threat from DB is the Combos, which the AI has problems with, trying to chain A>B>Doom, especially when they don't have 'B'.

*According to potentially obsolete observations of folks complaining that Dual Blades is gimp.

    SIDKICKS?!?

Well, my first thought was that this sounds a lot like a Guild Wars feature. I tried to decide whether I wanted to post that, as it really has no bearing on the thread, when I realized that at those prices, very few would be using that feature, which is something that is considered when deciding what goes into the game. On the other hand, as was mentioned earlier, there ARE folks that wouldn't move without dual RAs and Three Speed Boosts, so lowering the price isn't exactly feasible, either.

It's possible that excluding those two power sets from the rent-a-minion feature might help it along, but I don't see a great deal of support for the idea. I could be wrong though, so good luck.

Add this to the 'piece of rusted metal' katanna, and it just gives me a reason to ask for makeshift versions of all weapons. Junk picked up that is still lethal in the hands of a skilled master (or more so if you count the rust). Something cobbled together or swiped in the run through Outbreak.

But now my future self went back to the future and I don't now where I got that portal yet!

[/ QUOTE ]You don't have to eat the pie, as long as you remember to tell yourself that it's a bad idea when you gain the ability to time travel. And you don't have to worry about where you found the portal, since you will know where it is when you find it, and need to make the warning.
  20. I had to stop at question 2. Neither answer fit, and I don't like taking quizzes where the answers are falsified. I don't know how far off the results are because of it.

So, being in Brazil and all I simply can´t buy this Super Booster... The frigging company that sells CoX franchise in here haven´t even put the Magic Pack up for sales yet.
Anyway, for what I´ve read no glass helmet yet?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why not buy it online in the PlayNC store? It's what I did, because in the country where I live, these things would NEVER ship at all, and even if they did they'd be the EU version I don't need.

[/ QUOTE ]Heck, I wasn't even aware that the Boosters were shelf items. I thought they were exclusively available at the NC Soft Store.
