And this is why there are some creatures you never want to back into a corner.

Quote:It's about the way it goes when Golden Girl really gets rolling in a thread.I love how this thread has become 1/2 boobs, 1/4th COH IS RUINED FOREVER, and 1/4th actual discussion of the topic at hand.
Indeed. If people start demanding more realistic costumes in comics there's going to be a lot more nudity as said costumes are shot/sliced/burned off. Though, I suppose that would be one way to get more female super heroes... -
Quote:...I got nothing. Want to give us a hint?Hmmm... Ever notice HOW the GR updates are being doled out?
Calvin Scott fights against Praetoria and the Ghouls
Marauder's role is to fight against the Syndicate (and the Resistance)
Mother Mayhem is the leader of the Seers
I bet the next update will feature Neuron and the Praetorian Clockwork!
Who's sensing the pattern? -

Endure, Master Eisenstadt. Take it. They'll hate you for it, but that's the point of Nemesis, he can be the outcast. He can make the choice that no one else can make, the right choice.

I would love the opportunity to join this, but the scheduling difficulties I would present would pretty much knock the team I joined out of the contest.

Indeed. That was the part I didn't really like when I was going through Maria Jenkins' arc; that many of the 'armies' of the Praetors were the same model as the helpless civilians.

Quote:Well, Tilman seems to be in the same line as Primal Ghost Widow. A spirit that hasn't moved on yet. However, I don't believe we've ever been told if her host is protected from aging during the ride or not.Odd that the Seers have short lives, even with treatment. There's no indication on Primal Earth that psi powers shorten lifespan. Though their outfits remind me somewhat of the Mu mystics (the vertical flight position, the arms tight to the body, the masks...)
Also, if our Sister Psyche doesn't age when mind riding, will Mother be effectively immortal now that she has bonded with Aurora? -
Quote:I was thinking the exact same thing for the Naylor arc with the Nemesis automaton. Halfway through the arc, I'm actually thinking that I would enjoy leaving the arc as the rogue robot, especially fitting since the character at the time was a Bots Mastermind who was a mad scientist who thought of his 'pets' as his children. For people who actually build up their own stories on top of what the game offers, this is already an option. Two identical characters enter the lab, the lab explodes, one of the characters survives and you go on playing the survivor - but that survivor can be either one.
Unfortunately, the arc itself ended up completely tying up all the loose ends and answering all the questions. Was the first arc I was actually disappointed in. -
Quote:Actually I can think of something more appropriate. remember that by now you've seen them personally in game. Who's to say they didn't grab a rundown of your character, and set up their own private "AE session" loaded down with weakened copies of your character that they can tear through. In fact they can either beat them up regular style, or use the insta-kill dev powers to do so.You know, a lot of tech companies have little workout rooms, I'd imagine they have a few heavy bags that get regular use based on certain usual suspect's feedback..id imagine that babs has a photo of my in game character taped to his. "you want how many martial arts animations??? die!!!">punch punch punch< might be a few of us with that distinction

Hm. Thinking about this a bit, I can see why the devs might not want to give players the ability to delete this power, if not any other. If they can delete the Fortune, then it takes a bit of the 'random' out of it, as people can just keep deleting powers until they get the one they want. And remember, Tower was changed so even multiple castings won't kill a player.
So then we have the option to block incoming buffs. The thing is, if it was made that players just didn't get certain effect from others, I'd be willing to bet there would be just as many people complaining about wasted end and power recharge as there are people complaining about the buffs now.
Quick example, someone who has buffs set to off gets on a team with an Emp on it. Along the way, the buffless player hits an unlucky streak and looses a good chunk of his health. The Emp, who's attention has been spread across the team hasn't noticed buffs aren't effecting the player, and now sees him in trouble so he throws out Fort...which does nothing. And now the power, which could have helped a different player on the team has just been wasted.
But there is another option! There is a mechanic in the game that can make players with BuffBlock on invalid targets to friendly powers. The only detail I don't know is if devs can customize the invalid marker for only certain buffs yet. Otherwise, it may make things like Heals and Rezes unusable as well. Though as far as needing a Rez goes, a dead player could easily turn off BuffBlock until they get back on their feet. -
It must be, with all the people running their full compliment of armors plus their damage toggles. Not to mention those with their AoE Heal on auto.

I can't figure out if I need to say Welcome back, or Good luck in your travels.

So, what do you say about the people who stop playing BECAUSE there's not as much content for City of Villains?
-
Quote:People continue to use this reasoning, but I don't think it holds water any more. Yes, City of Villains was released eighteen months after City of Heroes. The thing is, we've had almost four years of time in which the disparity could have been evened out, but it wasn't.well zam, villains are going to have less content no matter what, the game came out later and lacked the filler that a lot of hero zones were.
I'm not even talking about dedicating entire arcs to Villainy, either. They could have released Issues that had slightly more content for Villains, while still providing a new experience for Heroes. Instead we got just about the opposite, with the lion's share of content being Blue side, while Villains get nothing more than a single three mission arc.
And I'll throw my hat in with the folks who say that RWZ is Hero content that Villains got to 'play along' with. The Vanguard are supposed to be Vigilante style soldiers. The kind of people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty because this is war. Ostensibly that's why they invited the bad guys to come along in the first place. Instead, I'm left with the impression that these guys are better goody-goods than Longbow themselves, with the symbols of Paragon acting like dangerous control freaks. -
Quote:Considering the propensity that the dev team has for referencing other material, cliched or not, I would be MORE inclined to believe that it was intentional. The number is very likely another Doctor Humperdink, or Romero Heights. And yes, the 'number of the beast' is very much a cliche thanks to it's extensive overuse in any media that even alludes to religion. What bugs me is the notion that this is intentional, because it turns it from a coincidence into a joke. A joke I do not appreciate or enjoy. You may feel I should have no right to talk about it, but I believe the rules permit me to do this whether you like it or not. I don't intend to "get over it" for the simple fact that I don't want to. I'm not going to stop disliking it simply because I'm told to. Eventually I'll get tired of talking about it, as well. That depends on how long you intend to keep trying to "oh snap" me, but if you're determined to outlast me, then you probably will.
I'll just outright ask you; Would knowing that this is intentional actually cause you to never play the set? Even knowing that you would almost have to intentionally look for it to EVER see it in game? -
Quote:I would like to apologize. You did not, in fact actually state a desire for change, and I was wrong for saying you did. However, that does remain the impression that was left upon me reading all of your posts in this thread, due to your repeated statement that the number bugs you, as well as where you said that you felt that if didn't work as well with other origins because of a number that is hidden, and largely ignored.I... Wait what? Advocated changing... What? I said I didn't like it, that much is true, but I don't remember making the leap into suggesting it be changed. I don't like the Jake Emmert mission or the Lethal Weapon knockoff Detectives in Steel Canyon, but I'm FAR from suggesting they be changed. That's the sort of thing that makes me roll my eyes with displeasure, but even I would say it's pointless to go back and change it.
Again, the whole argument is academic, pretty much on the same level as "regular butter is better than peanut butter" or "my dad can beat up your dad." OK, it's STUPID, but I mean academic in the sense that it has no practical application, not that it's intellectually high-brow, which it isn't.
Seriously, did I suggest a change? I haven't gone back to read my posts in the thread, but if I alluded to that anywhere, please point it out so I can go edit it out. That would be pretty bad if I did it. -
Quote:I would have to assume you mean that you would argue 911 appearing on a PPD AT. From my own experience, most folks would not care, with the exception of the one who found that number. This game is filled with obvious easter eggs, and it makes sense that a set about Demon Summoning would have a Demon's number in it somewhere. It depends on the context. If we DO get a PPD Epic AT and it gets a power that grants 9.11% to-hit buff, then yes, people would very much argue over it. On Demon Summoning? Not so much.
I can't say I approve of their methods, but I'd have to hazard the guess that the reaction comes from you actually advocating changing the power, based on a number that you wouldn't have even known was there if not for the thread. -
