I withdraw my previous statement Cuddles infact, after i read the thread i used a couple respecs on test and played about with this power. So in conclusion after using it alot more the Positives:
Very high Mag KB, so far it has not failed to knockback anything short of a GM.
Keeps stuff out of melee range and to prevent any damage done for a short while you can bounce into the enemies and knock them all back.
Fun for playing lvl 1 tossing :P
The Negatives:
Not a team power. You'll use this when soloing, when in a group unless your protecting other squishies... doubtful, its not useful (unless the group is lacking a tank and you switch it and FON on... taunt aura and invunerability ftw!)
It does use a great deal of end which is unslottable for - but this isnt as bad as i first made out, its either a bug or works on prolonged exposure. If you just bounce in and knock a single mob over, it seems to do no endurance drain as long as you back off quickly. Whereas if your just playing with a single mob knocking him all over the place - or holding him in a corner it drains end VERY fast. So to be used in moderation.
Im going to keep it in my build for I8 on my blaster, but only because i have that spare lvl 50 power slot with no enhancement slots in.
If your a ranged blaster, i would say this would come in a great deal of use! In other words, go for it Cuddles, but don't waste slots in it, a single end mod should do it. -
PFF = Invaluable for ghosting/pvp protection. Doesnt suppress when clickies are used and has only a 1/20 chance a stalker will hit you through it
Repulsion Bubble = Costs alot to keep running, drains about a 1/5 of your bar per 'hit' on an enemy, regardless of knockback or not - definatly more of a 'power if you want to have some fun' over 'power i need for using seriously'. On most builds i would advise against getting it, drains full end within seconds regardless of slotted.
Temporary Invunerability = Good resistance to S/L, always handy for those Malta/Nemesis.
FoN = Blaster God Mode. Easily solo EB's, slotted 54% res to everything except psi. 6 slot it, love it. A must have power if your going force. -

What MaX said is right about the power picks, just remember you cn't have more than 4 pools and 1 ancillary, the rest kinda fits in naturally. Although CoX is easy to put different builds together in, it's difficult to make a strong build without some very obvious/rigid power picks. for example a blaster without aid self in solo PvP is a bit of a joke

Um first off, 8 posts in a row? Thats a tad excessive, even for most spammers :P
Secondly Solo PvP blasters without Aid Self joke worthy? No, they just arent frontline soldiers. For your play style Aid self may be necessary (same for my current) but for some its far from essential. Sweeping statements like that give new players the wrong idea when it comes to making a toon of their own -

True Shock, i also find that in the movement centric PvP environment the large amount of time need for a snipe allows people, especially regenners and empaths, to run and heal up, this is compounded by the melee focus of my own and many other blasters. Hence my comments on Zapp dont only consider DPS and DPE but also positional advantage and tactics.
Thanks for the kind words, and your blaster is a fun 1 to fight, blasters are some of the most fun ATs to duel against the same AT due to balance and high scores on both sides, fast paced is what its about for spectator sports
oooh, and I'd go as far as saying that HOs work harder for your money in VS too than Zapp

Just to help back up what Plight is saying here:
I just tested this out; both Zapp and Voltaic Sentinal had 3 Damage, 2 Accuracy and 1 Recharge SO.
And so without further ado, the facts.
Zapps brawl index: 15.12 Energy Damage
VS brawl index: 43.83 Energy damage
With BU and Aim Zapp gets: 22.8
With BU and Aim VS gets: 54.43
Case closed on whether Zapp is more useful than Zapp for a single target encounter such as PvP -

Even so it is more like traps than devices in concept.
[/ QUOTE ]
device
-noun
1. a thing made for a particular purpose; an invention or contrivance, esp. a mechanical or electrical one.
Everything in the Devices set fits that (as does everything in both Traps sets). The Devices concept is not the same as the other Blaster secondaries.
Ingame (character creation) description of the set:
[ QUOTE ]
Devices are equipment that you have constructed for use in combat. By using them strategically, you can gain a great tactical advantage. Traps, non-lethal munitions, and demolitions are available in this power set
[/ QUOTE ]
Seems to me that having various traps is intended, as is having a Time Bomb or other high-explosive.
[ QUOTE ]
I dont like either btw.
[/ QUOTE ]
That still doesn't mean they are bad or underpowered powers or that Devices is underpowered.
I don't like playing with most Control sets as they don't fit my playstyle. I dislike playing Empathy, Spines are right out too and I can easily find other sets that I won't play. Does that mean all those are bad/underpowered and should be changed?
Don't mistake your own likes and dislikes for actual balance problems or concept failure.

Drop the 'Heal' in Hibernate MaX.
Why bother with speed when it makes you Invunerable anyway? -

If it was a 1vs1 arranged Duel, the way i see it should be all powers, no inspirations.
If you were just fighting someone, suck it up and take it like a man.
Ofcourse, when someone has around 20 Respites and 20 Catch a Breaths it does get frustrating v.v
[/ QUOTE ]
No. Any PvP fight should use inspirations. They balance it out. What's a blaster supposed to do against a controller otherwise?
[/ QUOTE ]
And then the troller pops around 10 Robusts, a medium break free, 10 reds and 10 yellows with a purple in there for good measure.
We have a Uber troller tank running Unstoppable, completely mez resistant and hitting the damage/accuracy cap.
Ofcourse your right, inspirations balance everything out, how silly i was for trying to be the voice of reason.
You can't buy inspirations in two of the 4 pvp zones for a reason. -

Remember names and archtypes guys (aimed at Killamonjaro)
And yes, if everyone turns up now, its full, catch me ingame if your still interested though) -
Information is in the thread in the clicky below, its only linked as having it in 2 places would be confusing for recruitment factors; main details halfway down the page.
Shadow Shard Task Force 3
Hope some of you can make it -

Jum Jum, yes, i have. He is good in the arena, can't PvP outside it for love nor money though :P
Insides the arena though i'll agree, boy kicks [censored] v.v -
Care to post your Build? Also, if you've never been beaten, why have i never seen you in the zones or the pvp matchs?
Just curious -
And your blaster is? (aside from an escape artist if you think blasters can't deal out very large portions of damage)

Your arguement lacks facts/figures or even real life application. So stop trying to tell me what works doesnt, because its irritating. Unless your going to use some real figures to back up your statements?

Ironic you do the exact same thing:
[/ QUOTE ]
No, i stated why i believe my reason was the 'right' one if there is such a thing in this case, i was greeted by a comment consisting of 1 sentance, which was basically "End drain rocks because it does", which clearly isnt a reason. -
Union all the way
You? What i meant by using Power Sink to drain the Brutes end was, when they are fighting themselves low enough, you spam some heavily end draining attacks, TB (with only 1 target it'll only drain half your end, and hit powersink. If they are low already, that should detoggle them.
I traded my Control aspect(Hamidon Build) for this because while Controlling is nice & very appealing in certain situations, there are other situations where brute force & increased dfence (in this case resistance) can do just about the same job.
When i come across two even level (or higher Boss's) how do i fare? whack on my toggles, and open with thunder Strike. In this time they may get two well hit shots in, but the Thunder Strike should knock them both over. If it doesnt, i'll whack two immobs on it (enough to break a Boss's Immob res & back up to heal using Aid Self) *by this time the other boss will be back*.
I proceed to BU & Aim and knock him around. Knock him back again and heal.
Control i find isnt always in the form of a hold or a Mez, knockback's i find are a blasters best friend. In PvP & PvE. (Havoc Punch also has a minor Knockback, so combined with thunderstrike knocks over pretty much anything.
But then comes my question to you, how does your build fare against 2 Even level or higher Boss's? As from what i remember, Boss's end costs for attacks is extremely low (to a point drain doesnt work too well) and 3 holds is not enough to hold 2 boss's.
Im genuinely interested :P -
Depends... Wearing speedo's atm Jum?

Oozysauce is one of the coolest players i know, i suggest anyone wanting a good fun SG to join immediately!

In all fairness, i'll play the character any way i damn like
I posted my build up so that the original poster could get a look at a elec/elec build, i never said it was uber or the best, i simply said it worked for me.
Furthermore, as i said, why end drain a squishy when you can kill them in 3 seconds flat, and why try and drain the end from a Brute/some forms of stalkers, when they clearly have End Drain defence?
Your arguement lacks facts/figures or even real life application. So stop trying to tell me what works doesnt, because its irritating. Unless your going to use some real figures to back up your statements?
(Furthermore, to what i said about Stone Brutes, they like to build fury. And yet they do very little damage. If you make yourself as resistant as you can, they will drain their own end relitively fast. If you hitting them at the same time, they will also be losing end faster. Furthermore, hit Power Sink at the right moment, your topped up ready to go & they are detoggled. You have 1 very dead Stone Brute) -
Well thats besides the point really. Anyone can use a Break Free, this build offers all round (the best) resistance to forms of mez i feel anyway:
Minor Disorient Res (Aid Self)
Complete Immob Res (CJ)
Minor Hold/Knockback/down resistance (Acro)
Sure sleep is a minor problem, as those toggle dropping effects are nasty. Not much you can do about them though (as Health would just be a waste for a Blaster).
And Chi Burner, as i remember, it was 3-1 to me -
The attack damage can not be buffed iirc. 2 slotted To Hit and 3 Recharge stats here:
Build Up= 87.50% Increase to Accuracy & 100% to damage every 46.17 seconds.
Aim= 140% Increase to Accuracy & 62.50% to damage every 46.17 seconds.
In short, Plights right here, if your a blaster that can get these and hasnt, your really not making up on your potential -
Laughable?
Only thing worth End Draining in PvP is a Stone Brute, and you can do that just fine with just power sink & your epic shield (as they slowing drain themselves, not to mention your normal attacks have drain components).
I used to have a 3 hold Blaster build, for Hami raids, but in PvP, i found that i could Kill almost everything in 3 BU+Aim hits, so why bother with holding? As you said, they happily pop BF's.
1 Immob is sufficient generally, stops most other than someone with combat jumping.
And as far laughing at Damage & Speed, it works for me, survivability is up, and kills have never been higher
