"hi sexy" + "worship" emote + comments to other teammates when I don't reply = me feeling really creeped out
Sometimes, random people do this to me. I have no idea why. I don't see my characters as having revealing outfits, but they're not all in baggy clothes, either. I suppose I'm a little too sensitive to this, and sending a scathing reply after one comment would be too antisocial of me. I'll just wait until they 1) demand a response, 2) increase the lewdness of their comments, 3) hit the "worship" emote, 4) comment to teammates, or 5) put the "hi sexy" comment with anything else, such as " lets cyber".
The problem now, of course, is that I feel like making a bikini babe just so that I can use some of the hilarious responses that people came up with. They're just too good to pass up.
*After much debating, I've decided NOT to make a bikini babe character. Oh well. At least now I'm not scared to play anymore.* -
After actually reading what I last posted, I think I'll leave the banter to someone else.
In other words: omg, i cant believe i typed that!! *scrubs fingers to get the filth out* -
I love playing bot MM's. I hate the way the bots look. Pet customization would interest more people in the MM AT. I'm all for it. It doesn't have to be done right away, but as long as this gets accomplished while I'm still playing (hopefully fairly soon) I'll be happy.

As my bro says, "AWESOMENESS!!" and "PURE WINNNN!!!"
OMG, I just realized that "i like pie" is a tag for this thread. Makes me wonder if that person actually read the thread, cuz it's not at all appropriate given the subject (think about it)... -
Ooooh! I've got some responses! I even thought of them myself!
"Wow, it's nice to know that I can go a year without shaving and still be considered hot."
"You do realize that I'm not entirely female, right?"
Oh, lies, sweet lies. I laughed at the last one, even though I thought of it (mostly cuz of the word "entirely"). -
Thank You!!!! I'm definetly gonna keep that in an open word file while playing. The limerick was my favorite, since I used to be really good at them (no, seriously, I could take 3 rhyming words and make a limerick out of them. I can't do that anymore, though, and I never did obscene ones, but it was one of the few ways I had to drive my younger bro crazy).
Bunny, that video was...different.... wow...
Steelclaw, do you mind if I repost that in the "rude tells" forum (as soon as I figure out how to)? -
You mean the "Superhero Romance" story isn't official?
Coulda fooled me when I first saw it... (in fact, you did...) -
I'm not denying that you were funny, I'm just saying that...
Hey...
Why does that sound like the arguments you hear on all the "AE sux" threads? -
iz ok. I just rechecked the "rude tells" thread and, so far, my fav is "Holy crap, it can talk?!" I just laughed sooo hard at that. I hope Steelclaw has some that are even better!
-
OMG! I can't wait to hear his response!!! (BTW, I am a girl in RL) I love Steelclaw lists!
-
Ummm... careful, Bright_Shadow, you're showing your age again (and sounding like a, ahem, certain disagreeable person on another thread that we both posted in, even though it's pretty clear that you're kidding).
-
It worked!! Thank you all!!
By the way, if any one of you ever needs a good name, let me know. I seem to only have difficulty with my own characters' names.
See you on Infinity! I'm off to play my new character! -
Ooh, Genesis_Man! Nice one! It could be the diagnosis of one of the prision psychologists or something.
Zetargos, your prison record suggestion makes this fit quite nicely. And, your right that she has greater ambitions than escaping ths Zig (especially since that can be accomplished so easily now).
hiker, thank you for your suggestions as well. I'll probably use one if Sympatico Paralytica is taken (if it is, I BLAME GENESIS_MAN!! lol). -
If her name is the key to her former life, then where did it come from? The source of her name practically has to be external, since she wakes up in the Zig one day with no memory whatsoever.
I just find it incredibly ironic that I can't think of a name for a character who doesn't know her own name.
I tried both your suggestions, along with Mind's Eye and they were taken. No big surprise there, huh? -
Yeah, they probably are. *sigh* I wasn't really looking for something that hostile, anyway. Just something a little offbeat with a bit of an edge to it.
-
No, no, no.
The DEVs ruined the game by making it in the first place.
C'mon, get your facts right. -
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I'd put it here since this would be an Infinity character.
I have a great backstory for a character, but I can't think of a good name for her. This character used to exist, but I deleted her a looong time ago.
Here's the story. I originally posted it on the "tragic character bios" thread (there's some nice stuff there, you should check it out). It's about a scientist who was working on a gene-altering formula that would give normal people psychic powers.
"It went well at first. The animal subjects all showed signs of extra-sensory perception (ie. put them in a room with a maze and someone who knows how to get through it and they could solve it by reading the person's mind). There was a slight problem with some of the animal subjects however; those without a specific gene sequence would go insane and destroy others of their species. When there weren't any others around, they would destroy themselves.
Once the head scientist had ironed out (read, covered up) this wrinkle, he set out to look for human subjects to test the drug on. There was only one problem: the more complex the species, the more specific the gene sequence had to be. He and his subordinates took sample after sample from volunteers, but to no avail. He even went so far as to pay criminals to abduct people, but none of them were right either.
Then he had a brilliant idea. The lab where the drug was being tested was locked with a DNA identifier providing access or denial. It just happened that this system was looking at the particular chromosome that he needed to see. Good luck for him; bad luck for the youngest (and brightest) scientist on his staff. She just happened to have the right sequence, and had just signed a non-disclosure agreement with the company overseeing their work. She was quickly detained by the lab's security guards and, despite much protesting, forcibly injected with the drug.
She threatened to go public once she was released, and no agreement she'd ever made would stop her. So the head scientist had another one of his staff (a psychic who had been monitoring the animals and their progress) make her forget everything. The psychic took things a little too far though, so instead of making her forget the incident, she forgot everything she'd ever remembered. She still knew some basic things, like how to speak and write, but all her personal information had been erased. She didn't even know her own name.
The head scientist, who was becoming increasingly deranged, ordered her to be released. His reasoning in this was that, if the formula had failed due to misinterpreting the required gene sequence then she would go insane and destroy everyone at the lab before killing herself.
They let her loose in the Rogue Isles, where she has been trying to figure out who she is ever since. She uses any means necessary to achieve her ends, and will stop at nothing until she finds an answer. At her disposal, she has her new psychic abilities, her powers of reasoning, and an environment where no one will help anyone if there isn't something in it for them. She also has trace bits of information about herself, which she had deduced by comparing her knowledge to the knowledge of others. She has already figured out that she is about 22 years old, attended a university (she sees familiar faces whenever she visits her old campus), and had been studying genetics and anatomy (based on her knowledge of these things being much more detailed than anyone else's).
What's not clear to her is who erased her memory, or why. She has sworn to find them, make them talk, and kill anyone who gets in her way.
*Okay, I don't need to tell you that this won't fit in the standard bio space, so I had a kind-of diary thing going, chronicling her attempts to learn her own identity (I added an entry every few levels, but I never got very far). It was quite interesting to write, and I wish that I had saved the character. Perhaps I'll restart her. Mind/Psy dom, anyone?*
*Oh, the best part I like is that even I don't know if the drug worked or not, since her desire to kill could be revenge or insanity. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes like everyone else!*"
I can't remember the original name, since I've got chronic alt-itis and the original character existed about a year ago. I really want to recreate this character, so I need a name for her. She would probably have gotten her moniker from either a piece of paper in her hand/pocket when she woke up in the Zig, or from something she heard in the experiment that gave her her powers right before she passed out. I'm open to other ideas as to where her name came from, especially if I like the name.
*thank you for taking the time to read this absurdly long post* -
See, threads like this are the reason that I learned not to drink any type of beverage while browsing the forums.
LOL, keep up the good work! -
Okay, I've decided to restart my character whose story is in post #29 on this thread, but I can't think of a name for her (ironic, isn't it, since the character doesn't know her own name). Her costume would be rather ordinary-looking, maybe with hints of her former status as a scientist (another possibility is a standard-looking test-subject outfit, or a ragged company uniform). My idea on how she came up with her moniker is that it's from either a note/scrap of paper that was in her hand/pocket when she woke up in the Zig, or from something she heard right before she passed out during the experiment that gave her her powers.
Please help! The name is always the hardest part for me, and with such a detailed backstory, I really want to make this character (again). I have no recollection of the name I used for the original character, since I have chronic alt-itis and I made the original about a year ago.
Oh, I play on Infinity, so this is where this character would be. -
Quote:Okay, how do you think up this stuff? Any paradox, no matter how minor, tends to get me going in circles. That's the point, though, isn't it? Hmmm... maybe I could go back in time and explain it to myself so that I wouldn't be so confused...Or my warshade.
The Nictus inside her is the progeny of the nictus master in Cimerora.
Due to the time-travel shenanigans of the Midnighters it turns out that her future self was one of the people who helped bring down Romulus and his regime. Moreover, the past self witnessed the event, but was nearly powerless to stop it.
Her past self, however, was ignorant of this, and was one of the first attempts at a human-nictus parasitic "bonding" (and considered a weakling besides). When the remaining Nictus looking into the aftermath of Romulus' downfall, they detected energy signatures identical to hers and had her imprisoned, tortured, and generally doing what they could to cause her maximum suffering without actually taking the trouble to kill her.
Fast forward about 2000 years. Her current host was a Midnighter researcher for in Cimerora. On a trip back to modern times, she was abducted by the Freakshow as part of their attempts to beget a nictus-crystal powered Freak. Deemed unsuitable for research, she was thrown in as "food" for our poor nictus prisoner.
Instead of merely devouring "lunch", or overtaking another host, for some reason (the nictus didn't make clear), they bonded in the traditional Kheldian/Nictus PB/WS bond and managed to escape.
Recently the reason for the bonding became clear.
She'd recognized her future host and paved the way for her own predestination paradox. -
Okay, I remebered another N00b moment I had, since ones that were only discussed in RL apparently count.
It was a similar thing with the Fateweaver on Mercy Island. With a dominator. A low level dominator.
I thought something like, "all those people have cool titles before their names, and I want one. This must be how they get them." The fact that there were only 5 options in the Fateweaver list and that I had seen way more than 5 different titles in front of people's names didn't register at the time.
My brother (who had been playing both CoH and CoV for a while previously) must have been endlessly entertained by me, since I was trying to solo a single-digit lvl dom on the third or fourth difficulty setting, and then complaining that the missions were too hard.
I did this with my first corruptor, too. It took me about a month of off-and-on playing (and several hints from my increasingly amused brother) to finally get it.
The worst part of all this is, he's my younger brother. Ouch. -
If I keep reading this thread, I'll probably go insane. And not in a good way, either.
At the same time, the stories are so good that I just... can't... stop.... -
I'll play the game my way, and you can play it your way. That's fine. That's a point I've been trying to make for a while.
The only thing that bugs me about it is that some of the new players never bother to see the regular content before they get entrenced in their playstyle and dead set against doing anything else. In fact, replace "new players" with "players" and "regular content" with just about anything else, and this covers most of the people I've seen ranting about how the game should be changed to match their playstyle. This bugs me as well, but I tend to ignore these people and focus on having fun with my friends.
*By the way, if you thought I wasn't offensive enough in my earlier posts on this thread, check out the "Delete your 50's" thread (I forget which forum it's under). I continued my explosion of ranting that started here, and added a couple <censored for decency>'s for flavor. It still follows my main point, though, and is along the lines of bashing the donkey in the head with a 2x4 to get his attention.*
**the donkey joke I referenced follows:
A city man is driving down a country road, when he sees a farmer standing in field hitting a donkey in the head with a two-by-four. The city man, being concerned for the donkey, gets out and says to the farmer, "Why are you hitting that donkey?"
The farmer replies, "I'm training him."
The city man, who thinks that the farmer is about as dumb as dirt, asks, "How does hurting him like that help train him? Is it a punishment or something?"
The farmer answers, "Punishment? Naw, I'm just trying to get his attention. Then I'm gonna train him."
I lol'd soooo hard the first time my dad told me that. It seems to apply to a lot of stubborn players, though** -
Steelclaw...
Wow...
Where do you get such talent...?
Those stories are soooo twisted...
Wow... just, wow...
That being said, I don't have any current characters with tragic bios. The only one I had that came close was one about a scientist who was working on a gene-altering drug that was supposed to give ordinary people psychic powers.
It went well at first. The animal subjects all showed signs of extra-sensory perception (ie. put them in a room with a maze and someone who knows how to get through it and they could solve it by reading the person's mind). Quote:I quoted the whole paragraph for in-context purposes. I must say that I applaud you for getting some of the "AE babies" out of AE. Even if it didn't work. They should get bored with AE eventually, and, when they do, they will hopefully remember your RC tour and decide to check out the other, non-AE aspects of the game rather than just quitting altogehter. At least they enjoyed the stories. For those players who believe that the story is more important, finding out that there actually ARE non-AE stories in CoX is a kind of revelation (it also helps them understand the AE story arcs' humor/history).Saying that we should show the AE-Noobs the RC that the game has is not so easy...they are for most part fixed on parking themselves down in the AE buildings and ararely leaving. I have lead level 1-15 AE-Conversion run...kinda like the whole born again christian thing or the jehovah's whitness thing...but with RC. The responses I got from them is that the stories are nice but the XP is slow. I love the kalinda and Doc Creed arc and I love alot of the unlockable content in CoV ( BTW, have we ever gotten any sort of update on that system of NPCs? The Devs constantly add new badges but no new badge related contacts)
As for the ease of getting the AE-only players out of AE... it varies. I play almost exclusively on Infinity, so I haven't had too hard a time with that. From what I've heard from multi-server players, it varies a LOT depending on what server you're on. The players who are determined to stick with AE forever are, in my opinion, just as narrow-minded as those who want to destroy AE/nerf it into insignificance/change it to benefit their personal playstyle. This is their problem, not yours. It affects you, but that doesn't make it your personal problem. It just makes it another aspect of the player base that you must adapt to.
Also, what was your general attitude towards AE when giving this RC tour? If it was along the lines of "You're being ignorant and I'm going to educate you," then some of the "AE-Noobs" could have been offended. They already got through/are in school, and this game is about relaxing and having fun, not sitting through another lesson. I prefer the "Let me show you something fun!" attitude, with an added, "let me know if you have any questions about anything at all." While this seems to be sending the same message as the first approach, it is decidedly more friendly and encourages the "AE-Noob" to have an active interest and ask more questions instead of sit in the back of the class and daydream about summer vacation.
I tend to be pretty upbeat and easygoing while playing, but maybe that's just me. If you have a different opinion about what I've said, please let me know. My opinion undergoes constant revisions (daily, if not hourly or minute-ly) based on people's responses, but my goal has been pretty consistant so far: Show new players that there's more to the game than just AE in a nice, positive way.
Another side-note; since this game is based largely on individual choice, I tend to analyze my choices before saying something is a built-in problem. Saying that I suggest you do the same would be counterproductive to my "tolerate differences" message, but I think that more people would benefit from considering that they might be at fault rather than the game itself (yes, I read that one thread that Ultimo_ started and Moderator_8 shut down, which is why I'm bothering to touch on this subject at all). If your perspective is different, I can deal with it, and maybe even learn from it. I'm willing to do that at least (ego alert).
By now, I'm completely off the subject of the original post, but I think I've made some valid points so far. As always, feel free to show your disagreements. I'll take them into account as I've done before (another ego alert).
Oh, I'm sorry if I wasn't offensive enough for you before. I'll try to do better next time.
