*lol*, and everyone thought it was a hoax.

I'm happy the Devs have finally officially acknowledged this information but we've been talking about the full details of this Vet Award on these and the UK forums for over a week now.

The info was even put up on Paragonwiki a week ago.

It's funny how the "early Vet award bug" forces the Devs to come clean on these things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lothic, you're not funny. People aren't stupid. They know what you're reffering to so save you're "haha I'm slick" winks. Why do you think Ex whacked the other thread?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Because the Devs like to suppress information about things that are going to happen anyway?
I don't know, you tell me why Ex whacked that thread.

Maybe they are still embarrassed they haven't fixed the bug that let's people get Vet Awards MONTHS earlier than they should and decided to officially announce today what most people already knew about this one so they could save a little face here.

Beats me what the real reason is since I'm not a Dev...
  2. I don't assume the Devs are wrong with everything they say. But I've also seen dozens if not hundreds of "typo" like errors in all sorts of things the Devs have tried to document over the years.

As I said a few posts ago this point was tested last week and the buffs, at that time, were NOT team buffs.

Obviously the Devs could have changed that in the last few days.
But I'll believe THAT when I see it.

    The buff part seems great.

But... I wish they were more "Comic bookish". Thematically I can't imagine any of my characters (who tend to silver age) having any of those as pets. (a few might use the drones). Fairies? Wisps? This isn't a Fantasy game. And Clock Work? Sure I get the easy part, the art was in the game already. But... how about something that thematically fits. Long Bow robot? Arachnos Drone? Maybe not. Anyway. JMTC. I for one care more about theme than numbers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The same basic complaint of "lack of good choices" was leveled at the 36 month Vet Award too.

Both of these Vet Awards could benefit from more choices.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And...it would be nice if you could change your mind about the choice you already made if they actually implemented more choices. :P

    [/ QUOTE ]
Vet Power Respec is almost as common a suggestion as Power Customization is.

It also depends on if the buffs stack. If they don't than you will benefit your team for having one but multiple people with the same pet won't add more benefit other than maybe keeping the buff active longer since there's more pets to keep alive.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Again I'll reserve my belief that these buffs are team buffs until more testing by actual players is done.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Pretty sure it was already confirmed the buffs affected only the owner. So the page the Devs wrote up is either wrong or they made them team buffs just in the last few days since they were discovered. Frankly I think the Dev write-up about that is wrong.

Then again if it is right this is a HUGE new advantage.
Almost too good to be true if you know what I mean...

    [/ QUOTE ]

It must be hard, not believing a word anyone says, no matter how much proof is in front of you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    You're kidding right?

Not only was I a person who never doubted that this Vet Award was a new set of pets when people were talking about this last week but I also didn't doubt when people were actually testing these pets last week and telling us that the buffs only affect the owner of the pets.

Now certainly the Devs could have made these team buffs in just the last few days. But until more people test these pets and tell us they are "actually" team buffs I'll believe what has already been tested.

You do realize how potentially overpowered these buffs would be if they -are- team buffs right?
Certainly possible of course, but to think that all Dev documentation is error free is naive at best.

No doubt. This is a cool pet and all, and the buff is nice and all... but i doubt i'll ever use it... I can't think of ONE of my 25 active alts that'd have a wisp/fairy/clockwork/orb following he everywhere he goes... well maybe ONE... i do have a tech FF/Archer the orb could work with... but still...

Not that i'm bashing it, but to me... it's MEH.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This is another reason why I believe the buffs these things provide only benefit the owner of the pet.
If these things are 'actually' team buffs many people will use them regardless of character concept.

According the Paragonwiki, the Shield Drones will give an extra 1.75end/sec, is that accurate?!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought it was +1.75% End recovery. Hmm...

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Yeah it's +1.75% End recovery not +1.75 End/sec.
It's like an extra set IO set bonus.

But even if paragonwiki is right these pets are so fragile they'll only be good for squishy sniper types.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Im sure there some sort of ridiculously long recharge rate for each.

    [/ QUOTE ]
As I recall most of every other characteristic about them matches the 36 month Vet Pets.
The recharge time for this power is similar to what that was (one minute maybe?).

Anyway if you want to waste a few seconds trying to recast these things in PvP be my guest.

According the Paragonwiki, the Shield Drones will give an extra 1.75end/sec, is that accurate?! That's more than doubling your base endurance recovery; not to mention the fact that it gives +2.5% Defense to all (I'm assuming it's all). Stacking this would be a bit too much.

That being said: The Shield Drone will be a godsend for my Energy/Energy Brute.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You have to remember these pets have 10 HPs AND a -75% Resistance penalty.
If you even look at them funny they'll die.
    Seems balanced to me.

After getting team-teleport and a respec, it was hard to believe we would see any cool stuff again.

Fair enough considering the "non-award" we got for the 45 month Vet award.

But regardless of being 'verified' by the Devs this still -is- old news now.
    Good news, but old.

Sorry Loth missed it or thought it was a hoax, take your pick.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah many people thought it -was- a hoax until people provided pics and real data on the power effects.
I suppose it's just funny to me to see all the same questions spew forth again...
  14. <qr>

What's with all these basic questions (joke or not)?
Did no one else see all this covered in the several threads about this Vet Award last week?

Since no game is going to come close to requiring that kind of hardware for maybe 5+ years I guess you wasted your money. No game company ever gears their game for the "bleeding edge" and never will.

...can we get back to the discussion of the actual build?

Yes but remember Perfect_Pain doesn't want us to do that.

    [ QUOTE ]
Now P_P I just saw your last post before it was changed and personally I didnt like it. Saying "Cry Moar Please" is just a way to show your age. You are by all means too cocky in all your post basically saying you are better then everyone. Your build is NOT perfect nor is it a typical example of a Fire-Kin. You posted this guide so it could get critiqued and thats what all are doing. Take the advice and alter you guide a bit, because honestly this isnt even a guide. You are missing power pools still. Mids isnt too hard to Download to show statistics. But that all I have to say.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats the thing, I think its perfect and thats all that matters to me. I didnt post it to be critiqued. I posted it because some people asked me to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
While it's nice you posted your build for those who asked, to think that putting it out in a public forum was going to automatically let everyone know they were NOT supposed to critique it is pretty naïve. Personally if I ever put a build out here I'd be surprised if it DIDN'T get commented on in some way.

    [ QUOTE ]
Cry Moar Plz ? Im 31.. and?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Normally I don't stoop to this level but in your case I'll make an exception. I frankly find it very hard to believe you are chronologically 31 years old. The general tone of your egocentric posts as well as your nuggets of gold like "Cry Moar Plz?" and "Get what I mean jellybean?" would have seriously led me to believe you were maybe 12 or 14 at best. I'm probably not the smartest or most mature person my age I know, but at least I don't write like a young teenager anymore because it's been quite a while since I was one of those.

    [ QUOTE ]
I am not missing anything for a farm build. There is absolutely nothing else needed for this build. I could put Armegeddon in Hot feet. Thats about it.

Its not a guide. Its a Build. My build. If other people wanna do the same build, then thats cool. If not.. thats on them. I saw some guy today that had a fire kin and all sorts of powers that were IMO worthless. But hey... If he wants to farm maps and it take him 45 minutes to get through it.. so be it. Takes me about 10-15 minutes to farm either the family mission or the demon mission. Solo set to 6.

I dont say I am better than anyone. That is how people interpret my posts. That is not my problem. For me, everyone here is posting saying they are better than me.. Thats why everyone feels the need to constantly put me down or put me in my place.

My place is at the top of the world. In MY HOUSE. I am no where in your house, or anyone elses. Just my house. And in MY HOUSE I INTEND ON BEING THE BEST.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm quite sure you DO have the best Fire/Kin build in YOUR HOUSE. No argument there. But as we constantly have to remind you when you post on these forums you must expect some informed responses to what you write at any time.

People don't feel the need to constantly put you down or put you in your place for its own sake. You just have an amazing ability to rub virtually everyone the wrong way with your written word concerning almost any subject you post about here. I honestly don't know how you manage it sometimes.

If your goal was to be able to endlessly solo farm the family/demon missions in 10 minutes set for a team of 6 then almost any current Fire/Kin build loaded up with Purple IOs could probably handle it. I don't really find your achievement here all that spectacular in the least. There's nothing magical or clever about running around with this game's equivalent of a FotM nuclear bomb build-wise and think that it couldn't do what you are doing with it.

    Just keep digging that hole...

    At a rough guess Pohsyb.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And that means what to me exactly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

pohsyb is an NCNC developer. He writes stuff. These days, (sometimes) stuff with numbers in it.

They didn't need to license anything to put numbers into the game. They just needed to find a way to get pizza and beer into pohsyb's box. I haven't specifically seen anything that's been written for this feature yet of course, but I have 100% complete confidence in pohsyb that it'll be cool whatever it ends up looking like if they just let him do his thing.

Very lucky for us that NCNC pulled him back from the grip of that other superhero MMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And that still means what to me exactly?
I'm quite aware Pohsyb is a Dev.

Mine wasn't a question as to whether our game needed to license anything.
It was whether they were going to or not.
Lighthouse actually bothered to address my speculation directly without being asked.
Your original cryptic reply to me didn't really help me in the least.

My point was based on time and resources it's almost always easier for a group of Devs to incorporate existing applications in some way. We all have wanted things like "Real Numbers" and City Vault for a very long time and from a software development point of view it was a very reasonable theory that it would be easier for our Devs to leverage the work which has already been done in these areas. We already know that our Devs have good relations with those fansites so again a reasonable speculation.

I'm happy Pohsyb is working on it in house if that's the case.
I just hope he's NOT working from scratch which will only take him longer.

My hope is that it displays IO information such as set bonuses.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It would more or less have to, otherwise its value as a tool would be pretty low The only question is how they categorize the various bonuses (i.e. tack damage set bonuses on top of the damage enhancement bonus of individual powers, list them as a global damage bonus, etc). I think the way its done in Mid's right now would be a pretty good model to start with.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Frankly in the grand tradition of Microsoft I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some of these much desired improvements such as City Vault and 'Real Numbers' are actually based on some licensing partnerships between NCsoft and the more popular fan based websites/applications such as CiT and Mid's Hero Designer. As you pointed out it'd be easier for our Devs to leverage off of existing implementations rather than to recreate these things completely from scratch.

As I said I wouldn't have been surprised to learn it was partnership based.

Regardless I think it would be naive of anyone to believe you have not at least reviewed what is currently available among the resources of your fan base and synthesized that accordingly.

I'm still looking forward to it all no matter what the ultimate basis is.

Then what should an 'epic badge' feel like?

Where is the line between 'easy enough to get without thinking' and 'insano high level obtainable only in 8 years through an exploit'?

I'm going to get flak for this, but I love the RV Isolator badge. It felt epic to me, I cheered when I got it. And it took a year of just checking maybe once or twice a week. It is a badge of honor to me in how I got it. The epic badges should feel the same: a struggle to obtain, and maybe even dare I say epic to obtain, but obtainable in the realm of acquiring.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It might sound strange for someone like me to say this, but as far as RV Isolator is concerned I actually think the level of effort to get it is just about right for a typical epic level badge. Not trivially easy, not multiple years long.

Where I adamantly loathe RV Isolator specifically is that the Devs took a badge that most people could get within an hour in Outbreak and TURNED IT INTO an epic level badge for no redeeming reason. Had the Devs introduced an entirely new badge back in I7 that worked -exactly- like RV Isolator does I wouldn't have minded in the least. New badge - new requirement.

The only real mistake the Devs made with RV Isolator was making an epic level badge out of a badge that was never intended to be an epic in the first place.
