It's not like you have to "look" hard to see it. Just run a BAF. It seems like, generally, the bigger the team, the more lag you get. Noticeably worse since the last patch. Pre-patch, you could run a 16 with no lag and a 24 with tolerable lag. Now the 16s I've been on seem almost as bad as the 24s used to be, and 24s...well, I'd just rather not run them. No fun sitting there and watching a power wait to activate for 5-10s, then the power button spinning as it activates for another 5-10s.

Couldn't get in all weekend from home, works like a charm from work.
HELLO DEVS, are you out there? -
Quote:Some thoughts:Lobby!
I am looking at your "4.0.4" build and WANT.
Question: With inherent fitness now, I was looking to pick up Aim, Arm Lash and Frenzy, but now I'm torn. You don't have the kick/tough/weave in that build and it seems to have decent defense- would you go that path now that the three fitness powers are free?
I'm not really interested in a gazillion pets, though plan to take the disruptors for help with bosses. (tempted to eventually drop 4 Soulbound Allegiance into it for the set bonuses.)
What I want is to be the walking AOE God of Death, and pile the corpses of my enemies at my feet. (okay, a few feet in front of my feet. Wouldn't want them to actually *touch* my august personage.)
I want to try Omega Maneuver, because I've never seen it. I have no idea how to slot it, though.
Help me be the crab that I can be!
The animation time on Suppression will keep you from putting out the kind of AOE that blasters can BUT of course you'll be able to survive much more than any blaster, so who cares, right?
Your build is a bit short on recharge. I don't think you need 6 aoe attacks... plus the weapon redraw on the gun attacks got old for me, so I dropped it down to just the crab attacks + patrons. If you really want the gun attacks, I can't give you much input from that angle BUT you may be better off going the huntsman/bane route. Also, the kb from frag grenade doesn't play well with the cones, another reason I dropped it. With hasten (and maybe spiritual) I think you can get a solid aoe chain with just 4 attacks, leaving you lots of free slots. Except for venom, they all have 2s+ animation times.
It's really too bad you can't take Arctic instead of Sharks. It might be worth taking sharks & leaving it empty so you can take Arctic. It gives you another damage type (cold) & some decent debuffing.
If you don't want pets, drop reinforcements for hasten. Throw spiritual on top of that. That makes the build an end-eating machine, so you'll want Miracle & Numina in health, as well as the 2 end + perf shifter proc in stamina. If you have both +5 end accolades, you can probably get by on less, but I like a slight bit of overkill.
Omega maneuver is lots of fun, but the damage is bleh. It's mostly just there for amusement - on trial teams pretty much every spawn will be dead before it explodes (except during the boss fights, sometimes).
With all that aoe, you'll never really have a good time to use arm lash, or frenzy. However, you have the slots to take both if you drop Burst & Frag & consider my other advice.
Get another slot in CJ for a lotg proc, or swap it for the def/end.
You can put a kb prot io in tough if you're not going to slot & run it.
Those are my thoughts for the moment, hope they help! -

The "plant/fire" part is just all my personal damage.
How often are you using your Judgment? I'm surprised to see it that low. I'll run a test tonight with the changes and see if I get an improvement like you did. Beltzhak is probably right about a lot of it coming from FR, I've heard reports of similar performance from a friend. -
Frequent dev (not mod or community rep) interaction on the forums helped! It seems to be going away... please don't let this become "just another" MMO forum/community.

Quote:How are you people seeing the damage. hero stats has been borked for me since the update and wont show damage for more than three powers.
Re-install? Mine works fine.
OK, I did a speed unlock & got the t2 reactive on my elec/fire/mu farmer last night.
I did not see the kind of #s you guys are talking about. Instead, I saw pretty much what I was expecting. T2 reactive contributed about 17% of my damage (T3 does about 25% on my scrapper). This seems inline with the power level of the other incarnate powers (esp Judgment, if I had Judgment, it would be doing more damage than Reactive) - aside from Lore which is just kinda meh in most circumstances.
Burn wasn't going crazy with the reactive procs... I wonder what is driving you guys' numbers up so high?
Especially on the plant/storm... Do confused mobs proc reactive now?? I'll have to test on my plant/fire later. I'm thinking this is just because you are a low damage AT, yet have aoes to trigger the procs (also, you left out pet & creeper damage from the totals, those #s are decent on my dom). I haven't run my fire/storm since the changes, but Ill try and do a round with him as well and see where his T3 comes out. -
Quote:They were probably trying to fix it for normal pets, which weren't working quite right. They may have been trying to fix it so pseudo-pets (tornado, lightning storm, whatever) also caused the proc correctly. I hadn't actually tested this, so I have no idea whether it was working or not...I really don't know what the devs were thinking with changing reactive.
I suspect this will cause them to 'turn off' per tick proccing in general, instead of coding a special case for burn. Which means burn may have just "ruined" (vastly weakened) reactive for pbaoe damage aura users. DOH. -
My energy/ corr is sonic, and that worked pretty well. Nothing wrong with mez protection and dmg resistance, esp if you want to focus on your blasting, as I did.
-
Sooooooooooooooooooo I guess no devs are checking in on this thread eh?
Can the problem really be this narrow? Only hitting a few of us at random, but hitting hard? -
Quote:That's not going to last....Well, it looks like SS/FA got supercharged with the reactive fix.
It was strong enough with the ticking in damage auras every tick (and I really hope that stays)... but ticking in burn every tick!? Crazy.
Note that I'm just making a guess here about burn, because I think that would be all that's changed, right (the "pet" fix to reactive)? I've logged my reactive damage many times, and it's never been anywhere near that %. -
Quote:I totally missed that post - thanks for the link. Crazy. Hmmm. I stand happily corrected.QS does do damage with FE! I made a thread discussing this awhile back:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=255198 -
Ahh, nin/pois...how fondly I remember my first MM to 40.
He is still sitting there.
I would advise maybe checking out some of the MM bind threads so you can set up fast targeting binds for your pets, helps a bunch with the healing. -
I have an old fire/stone tank... it's a solid combo.
Fault is one of the best (if not the best) mitigation/soft control powers available to tanks & brutes. It will pair well with /fire, giving you a breather to fire off your heal, etc. Also, back in the day it was decent for keeping things in burn... now, not so much needed for that.
Also: Seismic Smash + FE = DROOL.
Throw the reactive dot proc on top of that and you've got lava fists that light people on fire! -
Some of my less common brute combos:
Mace/SR (never seen another one): Sitting at 41
En/DA : the slightly unique/rare angle on this one is that I am going for a CoF build. Sitting at 36.
KM/EA : This seems like a fairly synergistic combo to me, but I haven't seen any others yet. Sitting at 36ish.
En/Stone: /stone is pretty common, but I hardly ever seen energy/ brutes these days. She's been parked at 40 for a long time. -

Quote:I generally do not take leadership on controllers, except on builds that are specifically for teaming. In the build I posted for you, taking Maneuvers instead of CJ or Hover would be a decent choice, IMHO, as long as you find the end usage tolerable.Consider me corrected then.
I'll have to look into it a bit more. The character just hit 35 last night. Its a fish themed character so I thought Mako's shark and barf attacks would be a funny addition.
As for the accolades, of course! Badge monger here.
Is it worth taking leadership as a controller?
Thanks again.
If you grab the +end destiny or cardiac, it should be fine. -
Quote:As others have said, they are useful for mules. Also useful when you need that last 1% def since you can run them together. Also note that running cj with hover or fly changes your flight... behavior a bit.I have to say Lobster, Ive never seen someone take both hover and combat jumping before.
I was thinking for going for Mako's patron set for theme actually, but then again for effectiveness, I might need to worry more about endurance cost.
I have no end issues on my build, and I don't have a miracle in there. However, you have AA so I added a miracle. Also, I only have one of the +5 end accolades. Grabbing them both will help.
Grabbing mako would give you some decent solo damage if you grab the pet, but I would say only do that if you're going to perma it. I went with /stone for the def, theme, and for the heal/+hp. -
-
I have an earth/son/earth that is a really solid team player. Not the best solo, but a very solid support. If you're OK with that, ice/son should fill that role decently as well.
I've adapted my softcapped S/L build over to ice/son/ice (guessing you'd go /ice for theme, but whatever) over for you as a starting point:
45 s/l, 27 f/c, 19.5 en/neg, 14.5 psi + sonic resists (+12% fire res, 36% cold res from frozen armor + cardiac alpha).

Note #2: CARDIAC! -
I've seen/heard a number of complaints from squishies about the glowy busting phase in Lambda. I've taken a number of squishies through (Dom, Cont, MM, Corr) and, after some adapting, don't have much of an issue with it these days. Since I still hear complaints, I figured maybe folks could use some tips.
* Inspirations.
Seriously. Grab about 2 rows of purples (depending on your defense), a row of break frees, (if you don't have mez protection), 2 awakens (2-3 blues for post-rez) and the rest heals. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE THEM. Especially if you get tagged by a Fear/Hold effect while you are trying to run to the next spot.
I rarely use inspirations in casual play. Maybe once or twice a mission, generally I just forget about them (except for farming), so this was a bit of a switch for me.
Seriously, stock up before joining the trial - do some planning and pretend you are doing something more intense/difficult than running a normal mission. Because you are.
IF you have to hospital, fill up on your insps again. You'll need to get fast at opening that window and clicking like a madman before the doors open. Generally I can do it within the 10second window.
RE: Awakens: There is often enough time to awaken+BF+pound purples and GTFO out of Dodge while everyone is focused on a brute/tank. I generally used this 1-2 times on my Controller & Dom until I got into a rhythm and got my last 2 level shifts.
* Don't try and tank the alpha. I shouldn't have to say it but....
Of course, if your team lacks a tank, brute or sturdy scrapper then you do what you gotta do...
* Invisibility (stealth proc + SS, etc.). AS far as I've seen, nothing in these areas will see through SS+Mist/proc/etc. It won't help much once you're seen, but it's great for zipping between the glowies.
If you're going this route & have pets you might want to keep them unsummoned, except to absorb alphas and do some minor damage (ie mms don't bother doing your full setup, just throw them out there and let them die, rinse & repeat).
*Memorize the layouts. The glowies never move. If you know where you're going, you'll run around headless a lot less. You're going to be running this thing probably at least 5 times per alt, so you might as well.
There are a couple paths I've seen people take through each one. My preferred paths are the west going loop on the Acids and the North->East loop on the crates.
Also, keep your map open. Make sure you know where the rest of your team is. I constantly have to remind new folks when I see them zooming off by themselves then whining about dying.
Hope those help! -
Here's mine. It's a pretty old build and I haven't finalized it (just 2 ranged powers I'm still deciding on). He's currently at 50, but I only have the T1 spiritual.

Quote:Bizarrrrrrrre. My work laptop (Win 7, IE8) forums work fine on, no trouble.
My own desktop, (Vista, IE8) forums refuse to load. Usually work after a reboot tho.
Both computers connected to same router and same isp.
I was hoping it was at least location based: XP, Vista & 7 home machines all cannot get in. Work 7 machine is just fine... I can remote home from work too and verify that it is working at the same time the others aren't. -
Quote:I was being a bit crass and angry with the usage of "lying" (although it would technically fall under this term, IMHO)... "damage control" or "image management" might be better terms. Saying something that appears to convey a mollifying message but, if it comes out later that X bug was in place, can then be re-interpreted to say something a little different. Politician-speak.It's certainly possible, but I find it unlikely. If they are lying then someone will eventually figure it out in a way that proves it which will have a HUGE backlash in terms of PR. So while it is a possibility I find it a very shortsighted one on their part.
The failure to follow up on the comment about MM drop rates just struck a chord with me I guess.
Quote:Also what's the benefit? Saying "yes, it does work that way, we screwed up and will change it in the next patch" is probably a better PR move than lying and leaving a broken system in place. -
Quote:I kinda wonder if they are lying. I mean, I don't know half of these new devs... not like we "knew" Castle or Babs who would actually interact and post with us.
PR for the game is more important than being completely honest, to a business, I would think.
I hope that they found what was causing the drop variations that screwed the mms and seemed to be gameable by some and are just fixing it on the DL and just trying not to alert the masses that it exists.
Because, at this point, I'm not sure I could be convinced that it doesn't. I've come across too many leaguemates who have gotten half a dozen Rares or even VRs compared to my 3 total VRs (across 5 alts). I do have alts that have gotten gluts of rares... but certainly not my Mastermind.
Maybe it was just the uncommon table weight that threw everything off - hell, that's certainly a good cover, right? Fix that uncommon weight and hey, suddenly certain players aren't able to stack VRs anymore. I'm sure that's all that was/is wrong.
