  1. A great run tonight! Team Iceflow completed at 1:07:00 and 3 defeats. (One first mission, one my fault, and one from a double-lucky shot by Vandal.)

Thanks for the playtime, Freedom Horde!
  2. My forgot suggestion for the survey was to let Tier 9 VIP spend tokens on seasonal unlock items. Normal players can get them during the seasonal window, VIP Tier 9 can get them year-round.
  3. Wow, it is amazing how much more roomy it feels with everything spread out on that nice desk. Definitely looks worth the effort of de-hinging your door. Enjoy your great setup, Justice29!

Also, your wife deserves an extra hug and box of chocolates for scoring it for you. Tell her KUDOS from the forums!
  4. Llydia

    Introducing.....

Waaaaaaaaa! So cute! Congratulations on your little Caliburst-chan. She is ADORABLE!
  5. Congratulations on your setup, Justice29! May it let you enjoy many, many good hours of CoH game play. ;->

Thank you for listening, Dr. Aeon, and responding so we know we are heard.

Major KUDOS for the good changes!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
  7. Team Zap Gizmo, off like a herd of turtles, met our challenges in both runs.

First one finished within the expected half hour, and the second one in a quick 0:46:18 time.

Thanks for the fun, Freedom Horde!
  8. Agreed: Badges should only be renamed when newly added if they duplicate an existing badge name. Such naming mistakes happen every issue and get fixed in a later patch. We are used to this. We grumble at the QA slips, but we are used to it.

That works. Putting in new badges for updated/new story arcs and leaving the original badges tied to the Ouroboros flashback versions would be fine.
  9. The Lodestar Lamb
    Level 50 Controller, Mind/Empathy (dinged April 20, 2012)

    My fourth 50.
She answered the question: "Is it possible to be a major contributor and have fun without dealing a single point of damage?"
  10. A very successful night!

"The Ring of Peebles" team 3, lead by Brian Battler, finished 1:02:02 with 0 defeats.

and then after some group reshuffling and leveling/preparations,

"Return to Vampyr Mountain" team 2, lead by Zap Gizmo, finished 0:55:01 with 3 defeats. (One of those defeats didn't count because Mr. Ted Akichi was playing with [Self Destruct] on an ambush.)

Thank you for letting me tag along again, Freedom Horde. ;->

I'm self-conscious because, rather than spending my money on, say, tuition, I built a $800 rig and got about $300 of peripherals to go with it.
So you were learning a CoH theme: Barracuda, lackey of Captain Mako. Seriously though, it is awesome that you are pursuing music. Good luck on those pieces!

As for deciding where to spend money, that is a challenge for everyone I have ever met. Hope the choices you make are ones that lead to the greatest happiness for you, whatever that may be.

What's to be ashamed of? That's a very nice setup. I particularly like how simple and clean you keep it, yet still have room for a sub-woofer and a guitar. Are you by chance learning to be able to play the CoH theme?

Oh is that what that is? I always thought it was a built-in video camera that I never desired to use.

I think I'm among 1% who can use the pedals at a desk. My desk is about two inches taller than normal, I am shorter than average with short legs, the pedals are on the lowest possible setting, and I still had to remove the keyboard tray to keep from bumping my knees. If I didn't find the pedals so entertaining, I'd put it by the couch (probably never to be used again) and reclaim my keyboard tray.
  15. Oh, why not?

Here's the desk of this gamer girl. Probably atypical since I am also detail obsessive and a neat freak.

1 - DIY desktop computer built to play City Of Heroes.

2 - External hard drive for file backups. Used weekly.

3 - UPS. Saved my computer at least once so far in the last year.

    4 - 24" widescreen monitor (1920 x 1200 resolution)

5 - Wireless keyboard and mouse, the latter on a circular water-looking mouse pad.

6 - Left: decorative pewter figurine of a winged cat perched on a locked tomb; Right: iPhone, my computer away from computer.

7 - Left: life notes (my version of a journal); Right: picture-a-day calendar of wolves, an experiment this year since I don't usually use desk/wall calendars.

8 - Comfy chair! The key ingredient to a great gaming desk that is most frequently overlooked or skimped.

9 - No, the pedals do not offer any significant exercise. They amuse me, especially while listening to upbeat J-Pop tunes during a MSR, so I keep using them.

10 - Decorative light I enjoy but usually forget to turn on.

11 - Below: Neatly coiled and tied audio cable. Sometimes when I have the house to myself I listen to music on the monitor's build-in speakers.

12 - Ear buds. House rule is you can listen to whatever you want as long as no one else has to.

13 - Marble coasters for edibles to protect desk from moisture and heat.

14 - Top left drawer for current craft project, lip balm, and hand lotion.

15 - Bottom left drawer for desk supplies such as pens, stamps, computer cables, hanging files, etc.

16 - Right cabinet looks like it was designed for a desktop computer, but it has such poor ventilation I use it for half-finished craft projects instead.

17 - Right side of desktop used for transitory projects like sorting mail, paying bills, and papers to archive.

Here is what my desk looks like when messy...

What the camera didn't show well is that the computer monitor has five windows open on top of the CoH character select screen, plus a dozen more minimized. iPhone is displaying the City Status app by Kitsune Knight.

Like SerialBeggar, I like comfy warmth, thus the slippers, throw blanket, and stretch knit gloves. Items on the right are taxes and the novel "Shades Of Grey" by Lisanne Norman; the former I am happy to let accountants read while the latter is my idea of light reading.

The paper and hook in front of the keyboard are for the loom project sitting in the top left drawer. Why yes, I multi-task. How did you guess?

Looking forward to seeing how you design your gaming setup, Justice29!

    Badges and RP

Personally when I use badge titles it is for character flavor. Like others I ignore the description when choosing one for a title. For me a badge title is used the same way as listening to a music song/artist that fits the concept to get into that specific alt's mindset.

The exception is my main badger who usually displays the last major badge earned.

WWD#7 Souvenir as a Vigilante (who has done both blueside and redside #1-6 before) is "View of Planet Earth".

I do specifically remember that character handing over the skull *without* asking for the temp power. However, I have no memory of running any of the other arcs with him. When it came to the conference at the end, I really think the Numina question was the only one Villain slanted.

It may be that I got the good ending specifically because I did not face Manticore at any point on the character. It's the theory I'm working on at the moment.
Even knowing it probably wouldn't make a difference, I went ahead and re-enforced my Hero status with a morality mission then ran WWD#7 for a sixth time. Still got Manticore. Think I've done all I can with this alt.

Your theory sounds right to me, M_I_Abrahms. It depends on which villain-side SSA WWD missions were done that determines if a hero/vigilante gets to have the Vanguard salute or face off one more time against Manticore.

Any recommendations for what my level 50 should spend the 1 Hero Merit on before I return to being a Vigilante?

No, I will not give you a specific date.

Staff is currently slated for April. That's about as specific as I can be.
Looks like it is soon, and not just Soon(TM).
  20. First off, Happy Birthday Week, Dark_Respite!

Secondly, while this will probably remain in the "I wish!" category, it sure makes for an epic wish...

    - Black teeth makes it look like someone forgot to add in the texture there

*** At their best angle, the hair still doesn't make a convincing mane and is not attached properly. From the back the poor beasts' manes look mostly bald. (Click picture for full image.)

Request/Recommendation: Please 1) attach the hair, and 2) re-color the head and shoulders between the mane to be the same shades as the mane so the color are blending instead of balding.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my newest vanity pets except for the heartache for my poor, almost-bald kitties.

PS The "scorpion tail" on the Liger is just the very tip, not the whole tail. Honestly it looks to me more like the Liger is suffering from a bad reaction to a bee sting than anything else. Mostly I ignore that detail without much effort.

  23. I was having a lot of fun reading one until I abruptly ran out of archives because the it went on hiatus. Still worth reading what there is, though, as long as you know it doesn't have an ending. SciFi exploration and adventure.

Sadly this was only hours after learning one of my favorites just went on hiatus, too. About the learning curve of a married couple.
