Reccomend the /flame mastery APP for Fire Shield, Consume and Bonfire. The first two for obvious reasons, and the third for it's ability to take a bad situation and make it manageable, or to prevent an ambush from whiping you out. It's a great "Ima stand here where it's safe for a minute" power.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you mean char instead of consume? Consume is in */fire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Uh, yes, duh, sorry. It's exceptionally handy in the 40's.

I absolutely HATE the contact system blueside. I play mainly blueside because the archetypes and atmosphere redside doesn't interest me much, but the contact system blueside is just HORRIBLE. I hate it from a player's perspective and I hate it from a design perspective. Why on earth are all the contacts blueside so freakin' afraid to actually go visit the zones they're so concerned about!?.

Every single original contact seems to concentrate their missions on any zone except the one they're in. I find that just unbelievable. It's like having a community representative for Philadelphia based in New York City.

When you work your way through a zone and finally level up enough to graduate to the next one, you don't want to be sent back to where you just came from. Not only that, but just from a realism perspective, it fails horribly. I get sent on missions to AP to defeat Sky Raiders or such, and they're not even in that zone!

If there's to BIG QoL features I'd like to see implemented that are heavy enough to warrant their own issue, it would be a revamp of the contact system heroside, and also to finally have a respec system. Our current respec system is as difficult as it could possibly be without intentionally being coded for extra difficulty.

Sorry, I started ranting. It must be a sore spot with me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you want to complain about missions, how about the whole thign where you have all kinds of busy work before you actually get to do any of the real content?

That whole "do five newspaper missions, then rob a bank before we give you a contact to do any of the actual content" drives me insane. It's a stupid busy-work timesink, I hate it. It's one of the primary reasons I don't play red-side.

Lemme play the game, stop putting road-blocks up.
  3. Forget the leadership, it only gives you about five percent, and if you're planning to hover-blast you're gonna run out of endurance WAY faster than you're likely comfortable with. Your job is to blast things into tiny pieces. Please, please tell me you're not planning to play a fire/fire blaster with three extra toggles running...

I don't even have Ring of Fire in my power tray, I neve ruse it... ever.

Get Fire Sword, it's a great melee power that delivers a hell of a punch.

I don't have flares because the animation used to take forever, but not that you can use it even mezzed you might find some use for it.

Hasten... optional, you might find you like it, it depends on how your character plays. It can't hurt, I guess.

I like the /fire mastery APP, but there are other good ones. Don't worry about it now, play your character and by the time you're up to about 35 you'll know what you're lacking and which one you should take.

Consume is great, but don't rush to take it. If you can, great, if not, you're not really missing much. Rain of Fire is good too, but only as either an "Oh, [censored]!" power to make mobs scatter or if you're playing with a controller who can lock down all the mobs first.

It depends who you ask for Hot Feet, a lot of guys really like it for melee and blapping, I tend to hover-blast a lot so I don't use it or have it. Burn is a waste of time, forget it. Blazing aura will just get you killed.

Blazing Bolt is a decent power if you slot it right and use it right. It's great for picking fights, and with Build-up you can one-shot most minions. Very situational power.

    Non-combat pets!

I like extra fluff. I'm all for this kind of thing.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
You are describing the fire blapper. Yes /fire has some nice melee and PbAoE powers, but compared to its much safer ranged AoE/cone hitters, blapping is alot risker for fire/fire.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This... but, it can be done, and done well if you're careful and once you get the right powers under your belt. Blaze is almost melee anyway, and Fire Sword delivers quite a whallop, not to mention the obvious advantage of hitting a group of half-dead enemies (already blasted to hell and gone with your range AoE's) with Fire Sword Circle. The trick is being able to move in and out of melee quick enough.

It's not like blapping with other blasters. You can't stay in melee for long, get in, do your thing and get out... Hit'em again with some range attacks, hop in, do your thing, get out.

What manner of cumbersome beast have you wrought?!

We have but little time, little time to tell the ones we love that we will see them in the afterlife. Little time before this vile creature, this insane aberration formed of shadows and the darkest of ichors opens one of it's 13 mouths to speak the words that will bring about the end of all things.

Oh, fie... though I have but one life, I grieve for all that it could have been.

Judads was recently poking people in goodbye threads so I gave him his own goodbye thread.

He can poke at me if he likes, as can you.

I tried to be funny. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail.

    I think.

    I don't know, I hope so.

Let's ask him... again, that is.

Flea... what are you up to? Is this a joke? I mean, it doesnt' sound like a joke to me, but it could be that I'm having a sense of humour failure.

Is this actually a very subtle joke, or is this some weak attempt at passive-aggressive poopsaucery? Were you just kiddin' around with your ol' buddy Judads, or are you actually spoiling for a fight? 'Cause, really, those are the only two possibilities that I can think of in terms of why would you post this.
  17. Really, dude?

Are you kidding? Please, maybe I'm not quite getting it, but please tell me you're kidding...
  18. I'm not going to be able to make this today, I am now saddled with the requirement to work today, and with other chores to do I likely won't be home until long after this has started.

I've been around the block, and Lighthouse was worse at his job than many of the volunteer moderators that other websites have. I think the only one that was worse in terms of ego, myopia and pride was probably Sidnacious over at the CTRL-ALT-DEL forums, and the only reason I say that is because Sidnacious was very clearly, literally, without hyperbole, an idiot, as in "Startlingly unintelligent".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lighthouse also had the burden of enforcing rules on a forum that wasn't used to respecting them. That's why Friggin Tazer got banned almost immediately after Lighthouse came on board. He wasn't ALL bad, but his violent disregard for getting moderated, and subsequently his sock puppet account, simply crossed the line. He wasn't alone. Many people were outraged that their threads were locked and deleted all of a sudden.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Lighthouse was as arbitrary as Cuppa was, don't be mistaken. Moreover, he got personal with the posters, to the point where if he decided that he didn't like someone he'd hunt them down and mod/delete/lock anything those people had to say... trust me.

Tazer should have been banned LONG before Lighthouse got here, but he got to stay 'cause Cuppajo favoured him. So, whereas Cuppa was like a doting, forgiving matriarch, Lighthouse was like a tyrant. I understand he had some troubles, though, and that goes a long way to explaining some of his delusions and erratic behaviour. It doesn't excuse it, though. I don't bear him any ill-will and I hope he's doing okay.

One thing I DO miss, however, is that there used to be a time when the rules were applied with thought behind them, not just because the forum rules says so. Sometimes we were allowed to push and bend the rules if it was obvious it was in good spirits and helpful to fostering productive discussion, whereas other times trolls and idiots had their threads pulled for even passing violations of minor rules because they were making a mess of things. In fact, I used to tell people that they shouldn't worry about accidentally infringing on the rules as long as their heart is in the right place and they don't make a giant huge mess of things. Whether that was due to the generally lower severity of moderation or due to personal style (and it's not just Cuppa, as Lighthouse was pretty good about these things, too) I cannot say, but this no longer seems to be the case.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree very strongly, except about Lighthouse.

I miss the days when the rules weren't used as a cudgel.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Did you know that you cannot put a moderator on ignore.

    Not that I tried...

Yes... I'm aware. Not that it would have mattered.

I'll put it another way... am I speaking if no one is there to hear it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, you're typing. Unless you're like me and you actually speak as you type, like moving your lips when you read, but in reverse. But then, you're there to hear it, aren't you?

Hmm... unless you're merely a brain in a vat, somewhere in some lab on some other planet and this entire thing is a simulation.

Moreover, if you're typing in a channel then there IS someone there to see it... you.

Why do people still play blueside again?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a harder question to answer than you might think.

I play blue-side because I don't like the theme of villains. I find that the missions and content are, at best... morally dubious or grey. You very rarely actually feel villainous, most of the time I just feel like a [censored] as opposed to a villain. I also don't like the feel of the environment, I know it's supposed to be ominous and dangerous but I find it just kind of depressing and bland, not to mention dirty and unwelcoming.

The other reality is that you experienced the crappy parts of the game. The Positron TF is a pain in the neck, no question. Citadel is fun if you're on a good team that works well together and if you enjoy annihilating the enemy. It's one of the few TFs that really allows you to feel powerful if you do it right.
