The liquid slid into her mouth which caused her eyes to bulge open. She began coughing and gaging at the taste. “What was that awful stuff!?” she said, after falling backward away from the old man and wiping her mouth with her arm.

((Oh and Yuri is the same age as my other character so I'll pick 15 years.))

It seemed the page of notes was only a part of a set. It started:

The rest was on other pages which were missing. There were drawings and diagrams of a rune on the page itself. There didn’t seem to be much else around the room but voices from outside could be heard.

Jing Lei was walking, carrying her belongings in a sack on her back. As she walked, her face was scowled in anger. Her lose fitting sleeveless robes dangled on her thin frame, mainly because she was always a thin little tomboy and partially because she used most of her money on a boat trip from china and a bus ticket to get her as close to the area where the Twin Temples would appear((By the way, where is this temple anyway? I just assumed it was some alternate diminsion close by, but not in, Paragon City)). The little food she did bring was lost in the sea by accident so she decided not to eat on her trip, which was nearly three weeks long(17 days actually), and use what little money her teacher had to get to her destination. Jing Lei would have stopped to rest but she knew she would be late if she did so walked non-stop for the last 6 days.

She was exhausted and the only thing that kept her going was thinking about a boy she trained with a few years ago, a boy that could never defeat her with his fist, feet, sword or tricks and sorely jealous of her skill; Ian Kelly. “That stupid rich punk....I’ll show him who’s the best....he can shove his dumb money and his yacht.....I don’t need....stupid charity....”

A few days before she would set off for the school, Ian offered to help her get to where she needed(he wasn’t holding a grudge from the years before but Yuri(that’s what Ian calls Jing Lei) did). “‘Don’t forget to teach me the stuff you learn’ he says.....screw him....you’re not getting a lick of knowledge from me...” I’m too tired....I have to stop... Yuri thought as she collapsed to the ground on her back, her long black hair that was tied behind her sprawled in the dirt. ....what would he say if he knew I gave up.....I have to.... Is the last thing Yuri thought before falling into slumber only a few feet away from the group gathered to enter the Twin Temples, behind a bit of brush.

((I’ll stick with the AT template but I’ll make new powers. Why? Because there’s not enough powers in CoH. Jing Lei is a defender with, instead of a blast secondary, a martial arts secondary. As her primary, an art style I’ll call Ling Hun Shou or Soul Hand.))

The new floor they were on seemed more magical in appearance, unlike the above floor which was mostly technology enhanced by a bit of magic. There were just shelves of books around containing basic spells and things but mostly collapsed ceiling.

In an adjacent room(that still had a ceiling), there were tables of random magic items(like crystals, necklaces and stuff) cluttered about but one item seemed to stand out. A light grey candle, unlit, lying with a few scattered notes.

2.0 was successful in snaring Sunako’s leg with the line and Sunako was nearly pulled down until Akikaze flew to him and grabbed Sunako by the arm. The leaves Akikaze threw earlier were dancing and flying back around to cut the line to free Sunako.

“It’s time to go. We’ve done enough,” Namikaze told the two and redirected his gaze up to the ceiling. “Howling Wolf Palm!” Namikaze thrust his palm up and what followed was a wind so quick and powerful, the movement of air was visible. The explosion of air opened a hole in the ceiling for the three to escape while the ceiling around the hole cracked and collapsed onto Archlich, Andrew and 2.0

The three ninja seemingly disappeared in a stealthy wind.

“You fools failed,” Sunako growled to the other two ninja while he drew his blade and sliced through the energy assault.

Apparently affected by the toxins, Namikaze was hit and knocked out of the air. “Or so it may seem,” Namikaze muttered as he pushed himself up from the last attack.

“I’m out of here,” Akikaze shouted then threw a swarm of leaf blades at 2.0. Without another word, he quickly flew for the exit.

At the same time, Sunako performed a series of hand signs, ending in the sign of the lion. The glass scattered on the floor changed into sand and danced up into the air just before crashing into the ground, cracking the floor. The first floor of the laboratory shook and then collapsed(at least for that room) causing all to begin a two stories tall fall.

((Well, it was kind of a clue that any attempts to teleport into or out of the lab are thwarted but you know how I am...I'm not going to just come out and say it...))

Kind of hard with all these "They have to know <insert my character>" threads that popped up recently. I wonder who's idea that was...

The green skinned shinobi was expecting Andrew’s attack to be deflected by the invisible force but for some reason, the shield was gone. Andrew’s sword impaled him just in time for Archlich to come from behind and get his hands sliced into as the energy flowed into the ninja. A combination of the two attacks colliding and the strange aura about the room caused Archlich’s energy to explode, engulfing all three of them((the ninja, Archlich and Andrew. Why? Because I’m the GM! MWAHAHAHA!)) and threw them all in opposite directions.

The red skinned ninja was recovering from the explosion when 2.0 came barreling at him with poisoned tipped spines. The spines injected the ninja before he could recover but the ninja quickly flew away before being further injured. Before 2.0 could follow through with another attack, a blast of sand came from behind and smashed him against a wall. “Akikaze, Namikaze....you’re being careless,” said a low scratchy voice from the now damaged entry way.

Akikaze, the green skinned ninja slowly pushed himself up, holding his midsection as blood flowed from his wound. “Then you fight them Sunako. I need a minute to heal.”

When the phantasm materialized after it teleported, it found itself outside of the laboratory gates instead of inside. There were magic runes on the door and gate that faintly glowed, indicating they had recently performed some kind of action. Fuijin took notice a split second after it appeared but would soon prepare an attack for the thing as well.

Do you seriously want me to do that? People already hate my guts....I guess it really wouldn't matter if I name names then...

((I’m waiting on Khell to respond before I resume the other fight.))

The female ninja narrowed her eyes in anger as she watched the TacOp try to sneak past her by not really doing much sneaking((I did say she was guarding the door but I might not have been clear on the scene itself. The place the other guys are fighting is inside after walking down a few halls so it’s not right at the door.)). “You dare mock the great Fuijin Daitengu!?” she shouted as she swatted with her fan. A strong hurricane force gale kicked up to throw the TacOp against one of the walls leading inside.

Huh? What could have ever given you that idea?

I mainly bring it up because it usually hinders interactions between the cast of characters. Either that or I'm just jealous, you be the judge.

Just something I've noticed:

Okay, when a character has a confirmed love interest something happens with those characters that are envolved with the relationship. One constantly holds onto the other for dear life for, what seems like, the entirety of the thread. Yes, I can see a guy holding his girlfriend's hand alot or just staying around her all the time but when the circumstances of the situation changes it begins to seem less realistic.

The reason I bring notice to this is because usually it affects how those characters interact with others(i.e. interaction ceases completely or slows to a crawl). I can think of two examples but you know who you are...

Andrew’s sword was deflected by the waiting ninja and the follow up blast of dark energy shot toward the same enemy but seemingly changed direction just before it hit and smashed into a computer terminal. “It’s ninjutsu you fool!” the red skinned ninja hissed as he prepared a ninja spell with a few quick hand movements. Air began to wisp around the room before it grew into a strong gale that picked up tables, chairs, machines and chunks of the wall. The tornado of debris was swirling right in the direction of Andrew then 2.0.

Archlich’s bolts of energy that came close to the two ninja was deflected by the same invisible force that Andrew’s dark blast was stopped by although this just aimed more shots toward the piece of equipment Archlich originally was aiming for. The resulting explosion threw the ninja that conjured the tornado into a pile of equipment while the other quickly moved away. “Not worth your time eh? We’ll see about that,” the green skinned pointed nose assassin laughed. Without much preparation, the ninja pulled a handful of leaves from a compartment in his belt. The leaves danced around his hand before flying at the sorcerer. As unintimidating as leaves may be, these didn’t follow the same rules as your normal plants and easily cut through sturdy metalic machinery on its way to rend Archlich the same.

After the others went back into the lab, the officer turned away, his face contorted in anger. He drew a fan that looked like it was made of paper from the holster his gun was only a moment before. Opening it, a strong wind grew and died and in front of him were three ‘males’ kneeling before him with black ninja garb with some sections accented by dark green. They weren’t normal ninja though, their skin(what could be seen beyond their masks) were odd colors(one green and the other two red). Their noses were longer than a normal and ended in a sharp point. Various tools, including a sleek katana strapped to their backs, were concealed around their dark costumes. “Not that it matters but, eliminate them. I’ll make sure this is safe,” the officer said as one of the three assassin handed him a sack.

“As you wish,” they all said in unison and quickly flew through the laboratory entrance.

“This was unexpected but they cannot learn of our plan.” With a wave of the fan, a cloud of large feathers swarmed around the man, revealing his true form. A beautiful woman, wearing the same colors of the other three but showing more of her light orange skin and while the other three males had long pointy noses, hers was normal sized(just making that clear). A thick mantle made of feathers fell from her shoulder and down her back and a sword at her hip. She would make sure no one would escape from this laboratory alive.

((To clarify, there is a room with tech and magic all around. Another door with a broken glass window leading into the room with the crystal core is were the explosion took place. In that room, mostly everything should be destroyed to barely be recognized although not impossible.))

“Stop where you are!” said a squawky, high pitched voice. “If you know what’s good for you, you’d surrender now so your death will be quick and painless." Weak winds began to build up before two ninja dressed creatures appeared near the entrance to the room.

((I’ll assume you went deeper into the laboratory to where the explosion was then.))

Inside, an odd mix of alchemy equipment, computers and various large machines and decorated with faintly glowing crystals and magical runes of mending, binding and forging. A door leading into another separate lab could be seen with the glass looking into the room shattered. Inside that room were scattered remnants of some sort of machine or magical device. A large crystal core which seemed fused to the floor and down into the ground with various cables coming off of it but this was now ruined. With a spell, one could see what it once was but without knowledge of how the construct was built it could not be repaired.

The officer paused a few moments more, examining the group. "Okay then. I'll call for some back up while you start investigating."

Although the house is very tidy, one might be able to tell the home wasn’t completely spotless. With a quick glance at the windows(giving a fine view of the front lawn) one could see a spot here and there on the glass.

“The press?” the officer asked as he replaced his gun in its holster. “What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be interviewing someone or something,” the man asked quizzically.

“Hey! What’s going on here!?” came a voice from outside the gate. It was a man dressed in a police uniform, obviously one of the authorities helping in the investigation. He drew his handgun and pointed it at the intruders near the laboratory gate but who wouldn’t get a bit suspicious of a guy in silver armor, an android(both with swords mind you) and a guy in a trench coat in the dark of night? “I heard an explosion. Who are you?”

((So the three of you(Archlich, Andrew and 2.0) are ‘there’ with the TacOp in hiding.))

((Yeah, I was seriously expecting that lie detecting spell to backfire so hard on himself...))

((Curtis and his TacOP are in the hallway where there's a whole bunch of doors to unimportant rooms. The door to the library is in that hall though and the hall probably keeps going and wraps around into a sort of trophy room/hall which also isn't important.

Ess should still be in the 1st room where she's hacking into the robot that escorted that other TacOp outside. I dunno if I'm suppose to actually post the hacking sequence or not but I'd generally rather you all to be free to explore and I just PM any information that is of any significance.

Same with exploring around, I'd rather not have to post every detail and let you guys do that while I just work as the "item sheen" like how RPGs make important stuff shine if you run across it.))

(([EDIT] And remember, the whole RP isn't a detective thread. I just wanted to try something different to begin with. It will go into a more traditional adventure further in the story.))

A powerful blast of wind shot through and past Archlich, obliterating the reinforced door and knocking the ice-encased box into the wall. Before Archlich could examine the room were the explosion took place, the intruders were gone.

((Now they ‘walked’ past Archlich.))

[EDIT]Soon, 2.0 would arrive at the Lab. Although the lab entrance would already be blown off its henges.

As Archlich continued through the lab, he got the feeling someone else was there. Carefully, he moved until he heard voices. Shrill, squawking voices. “Did you get the other one?” “Yes, yes. Now let’s get-…wait. I think I hear footsteps.” There was silence for a moment before Archlich himself heard the two(or one would guess it was just two voices) strangers that were around the corner moving quickly. Suddenly, an explosion shook the entire lab.

((Just wanted to know if 2.0, Hal and Ess are going to make a move anywhere. It might take longer for the plot to actually open up with only two people investigating.))
