Mine is stuck in "Loading Code". Did they run out already?
Edit: I tried Chrome and IE, and I tried Chrome from my laptop. No dice.
Edit 2: Connecting from my neighbor's insecure wifi (to get a different IP) didn't work either. -
Keyes is also much better with a minimum team size, especially if you're going for badges. Less people equals less chance of someone screwing up and getting caught in the green beam and/or dying.

Quote:Command line options. -screen 1920 1080 will do the trick.Welp, it doesn't. Still uses 1024x768, and I see no options screen on the login prompt or server selection. Not being in the beta, I can poke around no further.
You can also use -demoplay to replay demos recorded on Live. -
Quote:Sort of. If you check the piggs folder, you'll notice some new, rather large, "stage" piggs in there.Well my wild *** guess is that a huge amount of the underlying structure of the game is changing or has to be touched to make the I21 release work.
Quote:For those wondering, this is because the game will use a staged download system, which means you can start playing after downloading a single pigg file rather than having to wait for the whole bunch. All the existing pigg files are being reorganized into "stage1.pigg", "stage2.pigg", "stage3.pigg" and so on.
Again, no closed beta information here: the staged download system has been announced already, and anyone can see the new "stage" files in the client folder, whether they're in the beta or not. -

*Anyone* who hasn't updated Beta in a few months will have nearly the equivalent of a full re-download.
And I foresee another reorganization of the files again before Live.

I am not in the closed beta for i21, but the Beta client is on my NCsoft launcher, so I start it after every update just to see if I'm in.
Well, after today's 200MB patch, this screen greeted me:
The screen is the same even if you run the game using -cov or -uiskin 2.
Note to mods: in the past, we have been allowed to discuss things in the Beta client that are still accessible to everybody, such as costume changes.
This new splash screen can be seen by anybody who has the Beta client installed, whether they're in Closed Beta or not. -

In the NCsoft launcher's config folder there is a "GameAddendum.xml" file which contains the locations where the NCsoft launcher *thinks* COH is installed. Deleting this file will cause it to read the location from the registry again.
-
Something else:
I moved my COH install to another directory while I let Steam download the whole thing again. This is the same as a completely clean install for someone who just bought COH on Steam.
The game would not run afterwards.
Turns out Steam does not install several required DLL files in the COH folder. New COH installs via Steam must use the repair function or the game will not launch. -
I started my first character on Galaxy City, back when I was a complete newb with no clue of what to do. A friendly scrapper gave me a bunch of hints back then, and one of those was making me swim near the Perez Park gate until I got a "Badge Earned!" popup (the Land Locked badge).
That would be the beginning of a very long obsession with collecting badges... -
Quote:I mentioned this on the very first page:Yes. That is exactly what I'm saying. If I were a player getting what I see on say Snow Globe as compared with White Succubus, I'd be really ticked off at NCsoft.
Quote:I used two characters to run the trials; one of them got 2 Very Rares, and the other got 8. The character that got 8 already had everything at T4 before April 26th. As a result, I now have a character that still needs 2 Very Rares, and another that has 6 Very Rares and nothing to do with them. This mildly annoys me.
If the two characters had belonged to different people, one would have seen about 4% VR drop rate, and the other 16%. -
I opened Steam today and COH suddenly didn't seem to be installed anymore. I clicked Install and it started downloading the whole game again, 4GB. I canceled and ran the NCsoft Launcher manually; game would not start. I selected "Repair/Consistency check"... and it started downloading the 4GB again.
The good news is that the version on Live is the same as the version on Test, so I just copied the Test folder contents on top of the Live folder and it worked just fine.
So... be careful if you have COH on Steam. Make a backup before you let it update. -
Quote:Meh.Now there is a fair point that league success variables would be the tipping point for individuals to become exclusionary.
Sometimes I wonder if people remember this is a game, something you play for fun. I don't need any reward drops; I got my T4s about a week after i20 landed. I play them because they're "the thing" to do with other high level players and badgers. I organized Hamidon for a long while on Freedom just because nobody else was doing it and I wanted to bring its social aspect back, not for the drops. I only exclude people if they are rude or insulting towards others, regardless of their skill level. -

Windows Vista/7 introduced User Account Control, which doesn't allow programs to write files into protected locations like Program Files unless they are ran as Administrator. Splasher only works if you have it running as administrator and/or have User Account Control disabled in the Control Panel.

Quote:That's not my experience. People "close" the leagues because of the stupid 5-minute timer to start the trial; but while they're forming, they take anything and everything.Yes, there are PUG Trials, but they are trending fewer. Closed leagues are becoming more predominant.
The TUT interface needs to show how many people are in queue for a trial, and make the five minute (soon to be 90-second) wait an OPTION. If I have 10 people on my league and there are 4 people on the queue, I want to pick those 4 up and start IMMEDIATELY, not have to sit on the queue 5 minutes in the hopes that 2 more will queue up.
It would also help if I could queue and then keep adding players to my league. Then I would queue when I have the minimum players I want on the trial, but keep inviting more via the regular invite command. -
Quote:I missed that patch note. If I had known, I would have indeed ignored all my trial data before then. The trial reward tables were also adjusted on June 28th (Issue 20.5), so are we to ignore everything before then as well?
However, since the patch note only affects the "10 threads"/"component" table line, and I have never got a "10 threads" table, my data is still probably good. -
Don't worry too much about blocked ports. I'm behind an ISP NAT that blocks all incoming packets that aren't responses to something originated on my computer. I still can use the NC Launcher just fine. A quick inspection with ProcessExplorer shows that the NC Launcher initiates a bunch of HTTP requests when it starts up, and it sends some more HTTP requests when it wants to update a game.
If you're sure there's no software in your computer interfering with it (antiviruses, I'm looking at you) then the problem is most likely with your ISP. The best way to test if there's a software conflict in your computer is to make a fresh install of Windows in an external drive (Windows XP SP3 will do just fine for this; you can install it without a CD Key for a month, so you don't even need that big of an external drive) and running the Launcher from there, with no other software installed. If it runs there, something in your Windows install is messing with it. If it doesn't, time to grab the pitchforks and go after your ISP.
Another test would be to install the NC Launcher in a laptop, and then try some wifi hotspots in public places or friend's houses. If it works there but not at home, you know switching ISPs will fix the problem. -
Please remember that the drop rate was adjusted on April 26th. Any drops before then are no good.

Quote:The thing is, I've been in leagues where I was on autopilot and barely doing anything, and I got a Very Rare out of it; while in other leagues I was going crazy trying to do thirty things at once, and I got commons. Whatever way participation is being weighted, it doesn't seem to do all that much.I don't buy it. Participation plays a factor in what Components are rolled.
However... there's something that really bugs me in the data, and maybe Arcanaville can say me if it's just random being random, or there's actually something here. Sort the drops by trial, and we get these numbers:
BAF: 15 common, 18 uncommon, 13 rare, 2 very rare.
Lambda: 8 common, 15 uncommon, 3 rare, 1 very rare.
Keyes: 8 common, 7 uncommon, 2 rare, 7 very rare.
This could be just random being random, but... yeah. Keyes dropped a Very Rare on me 1/3 of the time. It really bugs me. -

As a result, I now have a character that still needs 2 Very Rares, and another that has 6 Very Rares and nothing to do with them. This mildly annoys me.However, this also means that after 40 runs around 1% of players will not have found a V Rare. Multiply that by the number of people playing and you've got your conspiracy theories right there, and some (IMO somewhat justifiably) annoyed players.
If the two characters had belonged to different people, one would have seen about 4% VR drop rate, and the other 16%. -
Again, that depends on the number of defeats. A Keyes trial where people kill everything in the bunkers to get to the glowies will have less drop chances for threads than a Keyes where an illusion troller (that is, me) sneaks through the back door and gets all the temps without killing anything. Also, threads are divided among the entire league; maybe I got 2 threads but someone else on the league got 7, in the same trial. Random drops + Variable number of enemy defeats = No good data.
