Quote:Given he spent...how many years without taking that suit off? Anyway, I'm sure Posi's quite used to being itchy.Andrea: "Dude, if you'd died, Tava would be miserable for months. I couldn't let that happen. By the way, you can grow hair again. Gonna warn you though, you're gonna be itchy for a while."
Hmm, gets me thinking, I wonder if he ever, like, installed a backscratcher into its internal mechanics, or something. -
Sure. But you can't stack 5 different 8.75%s the way you can stack 5 different 5%s, because these are the only sets that have an 8.75% bonus, and you can't slot more than one of a single set, and you only get to have one set, depending on AT.

Hmmm, at $6/set, yeah, in that case, doubt I'll be buying them, either. The Brute set is nice, but I don't have any Brutes I care enough about to twink to that level, if there's a real cost associated.
-
Well, I s'pose the idea is that different people would want to buy different things.
Speaking personally, I admit I might, if the price was right. And by right...maybe like 100 points/set? I'm sure they'll end up being higher than that, though. -
Unless I'm mistaken, they're only account based because they're store items, aren't they? So they kind of have to be account based, or the markets will lead to them being direct conversions of cash -> influence thanks to the markets.

BaBs is technically out of retirement. He came back to the heroing gig despite being firmly in the "too old for this crap" category. And that's probably why he'll get killed off, because it would fall in line with the standard cliches.

Quote:I'd agree with this mostly, however, I'd say there's one caveat that, admittedly, is probably not going to be immediately relevant to i21, but might come up in the future: there's still no real way to preview toggles in the character creator. All we get to see is the opening animation, but not necessarily how they look over time. Since there are no (known) toggles in the for-purchase sets coming up, that's not a major issue yet, but it's something important to consider, and heck, it'd be nice to fix that problem anyway.Letting you preview the animations in the character creator is all you need imo.
If people care about the number crunching aspect more, then they can judge by the numbers or ask about it in game or on the forums.
I will admit that I'll be extremely hesitant to pay for any sets I can't see in advance, though. Style is important to me, and I've no intention of dropping ten bucks on something I can't rely on to look good. Hence, I hope making previewing available, if only in the character creator, is something that we can see. -
Quote:I, for one, hope that the red side arc doesn't just let you "be involved". The redside version should involve getting to pull the trigger.Don't forget that the story is going to be told from the both sides - each month there will be a hero arc and a villain arc, each one telling the same story - so it's quite possible that the final part will see red side players invovled in killing the one who dies.
This game is supposed to be about our heroes and our villains. Not our tagalongs. While I'm looking forward to most of i21, I expect fully to be disappointed with the signature arcs for this reason. -
Quote:Sister Psyche's an interesting note. Unlike most of the others, she doesn't really get those occasional token appearances in the other arcs. You never get to fight her in CoV (outside of the LRSF), she doesn't show up as a suicidal minion in any of Maria Jenkins' new missions, etc. In truth, she'd actually be extremely easy to write out. Heck, they could just give her TF to Aurora and let Malaise be a trainer again. For that reason, it would make sense for it to be either BaBs or Sister Psyche, since new players will be familiar with them from the tutorial. With any other character, it's entirely possible that a new player will never have encountered them before they run the arc they die in.
And then there's the "set Manticore down the path of a Vigilante" thing again... -
This is another reason why BaBs is in front of the gun here. They need to eliminate all the members who aren't insufferable jerks and/or made from cardboard. The Freedom Phalanx has a reputation to maintain, after all! Posi and BaBs both manage to avoid being completely unlikeable, but they can kill Posi's character with a Numina-romance plot. So that just leaves BaBs to be killed for real.
-
Regarding BaBs being safe because he's in the new tutorial...that'd be great, but we also have Sister Psyche in the tutorial. And I'm betting that's to wean us in on her being the main hero in it, after BaBs dies.

I thought the whole point of i21 was not taking our money.

Longbow and Ms. Liberty are with Freedom Corps. Because you can never have too many corps.

I was really looking forward to this, and maybe it's because my expectations were so high that I was honestly kinda disappointed by this one. If the special effects were toned down, I'm not sure it'd even be possible to tell it apart from a fairly banal TV pilot. It just felt phoned-in. Like, they new that The Avengers was coming, so this was just a quick stopover to fill the last spot on the roster.
Hugo Weaving was a particular disappointment to me. Come on man, lay it on a bit thicker! You're a big red nazi, for crying out loud! Don't be afraid to chew the scenery a bit more!
...though speaking of chewing the scenery, Tommy Lee Jones was far and away the best part of the movie. -
Honestly? Nothing that really blows my mind. It's pretty much just a bit of motion attached to the pictures we've mostly already seen. Minidon was kinda neat, I s'pose.
But it still wasn't as neat as the Steampunk Pack trailer. -

Followed the directions. Didn't get a code. What happened?
-
Yes, but not in the normal fashion. Damage debuffs are resisted by damage resistance, rather than special AV debuff resistance. So that 50% debuff will become a 45% debuff against an enemy with 10% resistance to the damage type in question.
-
Averaging out damage on Judgement powers probably isn't the best way to look at it. Rather than look at it as "32 extra points of damage", look at it "a 20% chance to one-shot LTs as well as minions". Now, granted, if all you're fighting is AVs, that might be different...but I have yet to run into any all-AV missions outside of the AE.

Okay, so one thing I'm still unclear on. "Tier 9 VIP". Is this in the sense of "accessible after all tier 8 stuff has been claimed, if you're a VIP player" or in the sense of "actually tier 10, but we ran out of one digit numbers"? Or is it something somewhere in between the two?

I can see people a little bit miffed, if they have a lot of "useless" veteran rewards they'd rather trade in for points. That I might consider a somewhat legitimate complaint.
