Welcome aboard Sunstorm!

@Altoholic_Monkey
I agree with you 100% - we're currently discussing exactly those items _plus_ talking about how to best take advantage of the new bulletin board system's features. -
I'd just like to add that...
1) The Scoop has been looking for people to do Event Reporting for quite a while now (just look in the classified section)
2) The majority of the things TonyV is seeing as "missing" from the Scoop are events.
Putting (1) and (2) together can provide some insight into why these events were not covered. Even the computer hardware give-away - that was an event - a costume contest.
Take me for example. I don't do event reporting. I had no idea that this computer hardware was given away, I had no knowledge of the 100+ pages of forum posts about it. I don't think anyone would expect me to know about it either.
I think (and this is just my point of view here) that most of the current active contributors to the Scoop are in the same boat -- we each have our niche contribution that we make to the community and hope that people enjoy it. Plus, working with Scoop staff is a lot of fun and that has its own rewards
I guess what I'm trying to say is... if you want to do Event Reporting for the Scoop, by all means, send Snow_Globe or Mantid a PM with a sample of your work.
I hope that helps. -

(*grin* Although my first thought as to why Posi was missing is because of the fan fic that was featured last week, where Positron is off on a date...)

Thanks! -

But do love the Cthulhu-spewing comic at the end!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! Being it was the 19th, I was really torn between a pirate-themed strip and a strip inspired by Dunwich horrors. In the end... the exquisitely, the shriekingly, unnamable won out of course
...and after all, I wouldn't want an incident like last year. -

No offense, but the strips haven't made much sense to me for a while.

Ditto

Sorry, I find the idea of a "self-help" program for characters that are endurance hogs -- hilarious. I also find it hilarious to think that such a program would be specifically designed for blasters (who tend to need to work on endurance management quite a bit). The idea that this program would be only 10 seconds long (and thereby most likely completely ineffective) -- to me, is also hilarious.
Not everyone is going to "get" every strip I make, so I apologize if you didn't get this one or any previous strip. I'm more than happy to explain them, though -

They are launching a newer than new Star Trek game...except they don't have a countdown timer on the front page

I think Cryptic's already got that one covered -

I liked the comic. Mostly because it's true, at least blue side. Have to wade through crap after crap after crap to get to an arc or badge mission.
Still wishing for blue side to get a facelift to match the smooth contact progression of red.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! I'm reeaally hoping that the big reveal will be the mission designer - radio missions are OK on blue side, but being able to create your own missions means running your friends through a little slice of insanity of your own creation... mmmm can't wait !!!
Oh, and I wanted to mention that I've been re-reading Lovecraft again recently so the comics may begin to take on a cyclopean flavor for awhile - which works well, since I'm currently farmi... er, um... I mean Running Missions in Croatoa
-
@R_Son,
The comic is the end of a mini "story arc" between Val and Bullrush - if you read some of the previous comics that included the two of them, it might make more sense.
Well, maybe. I never really know what's going to be funny to others, only what _I_ think is funny - I can only hope that other people "get it" as well. If people like my strips, or don't like them/don't get them, it helps a ton to PM me and let me know -- I use your feedback as a "weather vain" that helps me know if I'm going in the right direction or not.
That brings up an interesting point, really (well, interesting to me anyways). I'd love to hear more on what people like or don't like in a comic in terms of whether they like longer, more in-depth "stories" or just short "one-shot" strips. I'd love to hear from you - let me know what you think!
Also, looking back at my strips, I've realized that I tend to use a LOT of CoX-specific language that other people may never have heard before. I realized this last night as well when a player on my team had never heard of the term "herding" before, but intuitively knew what I was talking about when I said we were going to "lure and trap" the enemies. So what do you all think - how do you feel about the language I'm using? Are you totally lost, or is it ok?
As always, thanks for the feedback

Peregrine_Falcon: "I guess I shouldn't bother mentioning that in this issue of the City Scoop Dr. Quarterfield was incorrectly spelled as "Dr Quaterfield" for fear that you'll recommend that I become a professional spell-checker."
[/ QUOTE ]
Quaterfield is spelled correctly - it is Quaterfield - you can go see him in-game, or check at PW:
http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Quaterfield . Hehe, I actually spelled it Quarterfield first too, and one of the eagle-eyed editors (2 actually) caught it before it went to print, so don't feel bad

I liked the comic. Always funny to see cave missions on a building door or vice versa.

Gotta agree. That was my favorite comic in the Scoop yet! Way to go!
