Quote:Well, you'd only be given pointers to activities within your current combat level, in order to avoid just such an overload of information.I like the OP's idea.. with the new mentoring set up could get rather length above say level 40 or 45... "Well Positron, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Citadel, Manticore and Numina can all use your help. Oh and So can Katy Hannon in Croatoa. There seems to be a few Task forces forming in the Shadow Shard that require members.. come early and bring lunch..and quite possibly dinner." "The Skyraiders, Freakshow and Rikti all appear to be poised to attack the Reactor in Terra Volta, The Woodsman is looking for help in Eden. Oh I hear A large number of heroes are required to attack adn subdue Hamidon in the Hive. Similarly rumor has it heroes plan to make yet another attempt to destroy the Rikti Mothership.. You will need this map to all the Pylons protecting it." If you are feeling nostalgic head to Atlas Park and team up with 6-7 heroes fresh from Outbreak and help clean out the sewers."

More and more content keeps getting added to this game. When Going Rogue comes around it'll add even more. The AE system has already provided a way to miss a lot of the existing content.
We run the risk of interesting content getting buried, which will mean new players miss out. While some of it is definitely skippable, I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on (for example) the Hess TF, the Eden Trial or the Sewer Trial just because they didn't know to go looking for them. Although you can introduce players to some stuff just by adding the relevant contacts, you don't guarantee that they will follow through. Also, simply having a contact added doesn't tell you what that contact will lead to.
So, I suggest a clicky button (perhaps you phone a City Advisor / Arachnos Co-Ordinator) which gives you a quick bullet list of Suggested Things To Do At Your Current Level. If a player is ever at a loose end or can't think of what to do, a quick click of the button would show a list of eligible activities.
For example, let's say you're a level 15 hero and are wondering what fun things there are to do at this level. You click your Suggested Activities button and get:
* Positron could use your help for a Task Force! He's in Steel Canyon. You'll need at least 3 team members.
* Ready to face other players in PvP? Head to Bloody Bay! Get there by helicopter from Skyway City.
* Synapse needs help with a Task Force! He's in Skyway City. You'll need at least 4 team members.
* Just want to clean the streets? You can always find bad guys to fight in Boomtown.
... and so on. The idea is to make sure new players always have a quick, easy way to find out about content they haven't done. -
Yes, that was me.
'I am completely content with Issue 17.'
Panic over, go back to playing everyone. -
Quote:A mirror metaphor used for an interdimensional portal in City Of Heroes? What a ridiculous idea...They haven't made it to Earth yet, they've just been able to send scouts (or maybe just reflections of themselves) using the "Dark Mirror" (an actual thing, rather than a concept or system).
-
Quote:I expect the second, since the first would be no fun. My guess is that the mirror images of us end up spawning in advance, rather than being summoned like pets. The MA lets us make rough copies of our characters and place them in mission maps, so it's possible there could be a mechanic coming that does this automatically.1. She can match you 'blow for blow' because either she reflects your attacks back at yourself (like Confuse, but you can only attack yourself), or, she summons a mirror image of you as a pet that has your powers.
Quote:2. The new foe will appear in the revamped Posi TF which ends up in the dam in Faultline... where Primal Mirror Spirit is! -
Quote:I've read it again and you may well be right. Here's what WW actually says:I originally thought that it was just one set of key missions, which determined your path from then on, no takebacks. But from the interviews, it seems like I was mistaken, so a character could conceivably travel all over the morality map at any time.
Quote:You can still do many of the missions associated with the Going Rogue system, and just not take the plunge and change your alignment when presented with that choice. -
Quote:To me it sounds like we'll actually get to make the key choices in the mission. War Witch says you can play the new GR content without using it to change alignments with, so from that I think there will be special 'choose your path' missions that you can wrap up in a heroic way or a villainous way.Seriously though, the way it makes it sound is like there will be a set of "entryway" missions on both sides... and if you take enough of those "entryway" missions... then the rest of the missions from ALL sides will be opened to you.
For example, you're a hero retrieving some stolen cash. You could choose to pocket some of it for yourself. Nobody would be any the wiser. Or you're a villain who has a hostage to deliver to Arachnos, but you choose to let them go instead.
On a different note, from the second interview:
Quote:Because he’s so powerful, you won’t be running into Tyrant until later on in your career. He is part of the endgame plan that Matt “Positron” Miller has in the works and it all ties into Praetoria. -

Quote:If so, that might be another reason why we're getting the ability to mail Inf to alts in Issue 17.So, what does that mean? Influence doesn't translate to infamy perhaps?
... and the more I think about that, the more sense it makes. We can't mail Inf across the hero/villain divide, but we can send all our Inf to an alt before we make the transition. -
Didn't see this elsewhere. Hope I'm not posting old news.
Going Rogue with City of Heroes - A Q&A with Melissa Bianco
Here's the bit I found most exciting:
Quote:Melissa: Well, if you should decide that being a hero and rescuing citizens from purse snatchings is no longer your cup of tea, there are ways of moving towards a less pristine image. Those ways involve taking on missions that let you choose to take a morally questionable approach to handling the situation. If you continue choosing the morally ambiguous way of saving the day, you essentially move the pointer away from Hero and closer to Vigilante.. Eventually there will come a point when youre clearly a Vigilante. Although technically youre still a Hero, you can now walk the razors edge between light and dark by taking missions on the other side to see if the villainous life is truly what calls to you. If you find the life of a nefarious villain is up your alley, you can ultimately choose to take the plunge! Now, having said that, theres no law that says once youre a Villain youll never have the opportunity to do right by society. And for that shiny new Fallen Hero, well, old habits tend to die hard -

'Enhancements to UI and game systems'
... if this means they implemented a 'Team LFM feature' I'm going to fly over there and bake them cookies in person. -
Well, we know what Issue 17 is, and that we're getting Ultra Mode early. Now whether it's Issue 17 on the TR is anyone's guess.
Issue 17: Dark Mirror announced! -
Well, that answers that! Awesome!
'Issue 17 will also introduce a "new and nefarious foe" that will be able to match players "blow for blow."'
OH SNAP. -

Quote:I'd agree with you, except that both TV and Dr Aeon are pointedly offering their features BEFORE Going Rogue. So I think what will go to Test is Issue 17 (including Ultra Mode and new content) which should keep us all busy while more work gets done on GR.My guess is this.
Come end of monday or beginning of tuesday, TV and Dr. Aeon call some sort of truce\tie\alliance to set down their fighting and join forces etc, and then state that "Content" and "Ultra Mode" will be released together as GR on the test server for closed beta. -
Quote:No, I suggested it might not require a Closed Beta.Hang on. Did you just suggest that Ultra Mode *won't* require a huge amount of stability and compatibility testing?
Quote:Okayyy... I've got a bridge you might want to buy. It's real cheap, too -
Quote:You used to be able to get as far as 'Enter Paragon City / The Rogue Isles' but they changed that. Also said that it'ld be back up tuesday. Can somebody refresh my memory please. Is the training room completely unavailable while in closed beta mode?
However... if we were to have a smallish Issue 17 that brought us some new content plus Ultra Mode, it might not even need a Closed Beta. I know, I'm being ultra-optimistic, but still... -
Quote:Both the Television and Doctor Aeon have promised us new shinies 'before Going Rogue'. Curiously, the deadline for their feud is Monday February 8th.http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=2591550
Translation:
Get your pre-GR/i17 respecs tested NOW, because the Training Room is going to Praetorian Earth SOON(tm) and will be unavailable for those of us not blessed with beta access.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT. -
