Damsel@ here's the 20 minute sketch, late here (2:05am), will work on it more tomorrow...
-
Here ya go Flashrains: click to the full file, but that is the actual size of the head. Send me your email in a private message, and I will send you the LARGE file, which is 8.7 MB. Hope you like it, I took a liberty, the game covers them with too much rock for my taste, so I shortened it, and added a rock jet pack...
Cheers! ---- LJ

Thank you Jophiel...
Flashrains@ hope you don't mind a teaser... I'm coloring as we speak, as I have some free time before grilling...
-
And I will always respect you for that CR, being that Kilo is still one of the coolest people I know, that doesn't play anymore. He pops in on my DA account from time to time, I see he's already faved that...

Quote:Okay then, that's a lot to take in... nice kick! Gimme a day or two... kind of a busy weekend, and it's Father's Day tomorrow, I get that day off from everyone. But I'm looking forward to Halle Berrying this out...Thanks LJ. Not sure if I can offer a shot as clear as Pious's but here's my Damsel.

Pious@ yer very welcome. -

Quote:That'll do, I'll get back to you as soon as I can...Well actually, that page is out of date... my current character that I'm most fond of is this guy. I still need to get some good screencaps of him in action, though.
-
Thank you Cam & CR... yes it was a free resource from a book I just bought. Scroll down to where it says "Rain Storm"...
I forgot to add one very important IF to the free art thing.
5) an inspiring and very clear screen shot in your signature or post.
Flashrains you have multiple links to your people, but the screens are more for the web page than one that says, "POW! DRAW ME NOW!" Though I did look some of them over, but I couldn't decide among them, cause a) there were so many, and b) there was no way of telling which one YOU liked the most...
Damsel: I'd LOVE to do a Halle Berry piece, but again no screen shot, so wasn't sure what she looks like in game.
You two put up some good inspiring action screens and I'll see what I can come up with... I appreciate the kind words. K off to rework that Priest, "he tasks me..." -
Hey Khep!!!
As always, Alex is the man, Happy Birthday to your Alex...

Quote:For me, it all depends on:Whoa whoa whoa wait a second - do I have this right? You can just ASK for art around here and get something as cool as THAT? Daaaaamn!
1) how I feel that day
2) if I've ever given you art before
3) how you ask for it
4) if I like your character to begin with
I can't speak for other artists who may also do this kind of thing, we had that pay it forward thread a few months ago, I thought that was cool.
Edit: thank you for the kind words everyone...

I'll try my best... until then here's a wallpaper mock up: <------ click that.
-
I may tweak it later, the artist in me is a little embarrassed. And yes I did read some of your back story, a very interesting character.
-
Thanks VexXxa, got some new brushes today, the rain brush just makes you want to use it all day. This was just a quickie, kind of sloppy in my opinion, just haven't found my grove since I went away... I think it has to do with the funk I'm in. Long story. But beggars can't be choosers, and hey it's free.

Quote:The printing is up to you, here's the actual size head, you tell me if you want it... send me a private message with your email, and I'll give you the file. Glad you liked it... it didn't take 5 hours, maybe 1.Wow. That is an awesome depiction! And in the space of five hours. I love it! You sure you'd be able to post me a print? I like in the UK.

Hope you like it, pm me with your addy, and I'll send ya the LARGE version.

What are you coloring with? If you have Photoshop, I would use the warp tool. Here's an example...
1) I selected the right leg (facing) and elongated it using the warp tool
2) Added light shadows for the cables to show depth
3) Add grunge and desaturated it to give wall some "mood"
4) Copied the Head, and brought it down to show his shoulders more hunched
Hope you don't mind. These are just suggestions. Take it or leave it, no worries. I tried making the cables taught, but it would change too much... I think they're fine as you have them. Keep going, can't wait to see the finish...

If you're using photoshop, lower your Flow percentage to about 20-30%, this will allow you to draw curves easier. If you lower your opacity percentage to about 40-50%, you'll also get a more "pencil" like illusion with a hard round brush tool.
The higher the sensitivity pressure on the tablets, and they come in 512 (Bamboo), 1024 (Intuos 3, OLD Cintiqs)) and 2048 (Intuos 4 and NEW Cintiqs) the more natural the markings will come through, as they will pick up more and your markings will appear more "gesture" like.
The lower flow trick however works wonders... courtesy of Mr. Eddy Swan. -
I might do one for a Spaghettio's with sliced franks duct tape wallet... let me know if that's cool.
-
Oh gees, wait till my son sees this... if hasn't already! Makes me want to draw.

Sorry for the lateness, I was away for a week, and was barely near a pc... but anyway, what's the thinking behind this scene? Is he re-energizing? Like say the Borg do... is he being restrained while he does this? It kind of has that new multi-arm Iron Man 2 machine feel to me. Also is he being suspended? Cause I don't feel the weight of him drooping... I would have liked to have seen the arms bent a little, maybe one leg falling lower to show some movement. And all the coils here seem like an after thought, which I get, you wanted to get the armor right first.
Since you do color in photoshop... I would make a layer over this, connect the coils onto the body in several areas that are not symmetrical, kind of like one to the heart, one to the lungs, one to the neck, vital areas... You did some of this in one of the wrists, but the rest of the coils look like if I shot him in the back, he would shut down... or kicked him in the back of the leg.
It's coming along pretty cool, can't wait till you color it. You have an interesting coloring look, reminds me of colored pencil almost.
Good luck with your studies. -
I'm loving mine... offhand Wassy, do you know how to reset the stroke points in Illustrator to less than 1 pt. Mine used to read the .75, .5, and .25, but I must have touched something and they're gone now. I can type in those points, but it's a pain to the work flow...

Happy Birthday Storm Vixen... i would draw us back to back, but I am exhausted from a 3 week cold, and I gotta travel all day tomorrow, hit me up next week when I get back... hope you have a good one!
