Bayani: While I completely understand the direction you went, given my "instructions". I feel it is too literal of a translation. It has made me rethink however, maybe I am hamstringing you guys by not allowing spandex. I will have to ponder that for a few days. I want to see some more results before I wave that off.
The bun hair style is just not me. As a player. Can't get exited about playing my grandmother. And I know she's 80 years old, but so is Capt. America, and he's not going all silver white. This is MY fault. You people need a real bio to work off, I will spending the day doing that tomorrow, and post it up in the original thread on DA.
Storm Vixen, no problems with orange and red, I love Phoenix.
VexXxa, LOVE LOVE that top, I didn't think Crest's could be beat, but I am torn now... the long straight hair is also cool in grey, the complete opposite effect of the bun. Classic, sexy, stylish... you hit the nail on the head. Not sure about the rest of it, but like this first look a lot.
Thank you everyone for jumping in. I will write up that bio tomorrow. Maybe do some art for it... I did think of a tag line for when she appears to people, I am thinking of that Original Series Star Trek Episode, where the clone girl comes for McCoy, and says I am for you... and her touch can only kill who she comes for... I like that a lot. I may have to incorporate that. But for now here's the tag line:
"I am Judgement, the Fire of Justice, I have come for you..."
Hope that helps. Be back tomorrow with more. Thanks again all. -
No offense to you Envee, but I should clarify. I don't want to be mistaken for any hero, not just the red and yellow of Spider Woman. I'd like to also get away from Black and Red, Black and Yellow. Those color combinations in particular, everything else is up for game.

Her powers on COH are:
Invulnerability/Super Strength
Flight/ Super Speed
Epic Fire Powers
She is a lvl 54 Veteran, and I believe I have all the costume packs except for the Mutant one, which I didn't care for, for me. -
Full Details are HERE.
EDIT: (8/7/10) - SPANDEX BAN IS LIFTED!!!
So it's time to for a change... I am tired of the Spider Woman confusion, which while was intentionally made, isn't fun to explain over and over. With that said, I am holding a REDESIGN LJ CONTEST!
In fact I'm holding 3... One for the COH costume creator. One for the artists here on DA, and one for the folks on DCUO the Source.
Now why don't I just do this myself? Well I could, but I figure this way, I don't have to do all the hard work, AND I would give the person I pick, the 3 people that is... each a free piece of art from me! That is if they want one.
Things to consider: NO CAPES DAHLING!
1) LJ is 8ft tall. When DCUO comes out, she will be the max height offered in there, up to 10ft, though 12 would make me really happy.
2) Her powers are non-negotiable. She is She-Hulk with Pyrokinetic abilities. No super suits, no power armors, I myself had gone down that route for a recent SG application. I see now it wasn't true to how I see her, how I play her, how I even draw her. SO... Might and Fire, that is it.
3) Her origin is a Super Soldier experiment on the Elderly, gone horribly wrong. Think Weapon X, think Captain America, think the spaceship from ID4. The technology that created her is part alien, part government(s) tinkering.
4) I will be changing her name from Lady Judgement to just "JUDGEMENT", no Judgement Girl, Lady Justice, or connotations with being female. It should be obvious, from her Amazonian body. What I would like is a darker take, or more mature look. Not Slutty. Classic and Sexy Stylish, not Hoochie Mama.
5) Also no guns, knives, swords, weapons other than her fire powers. You can include a flaming sword. In fact I am not opposed to that, as I love drawing fire.
Here's how it works:
1) COH Costume Creator - Using the COH CC, create an entirely new look for LJ, and post those in my official thread on COH. Send as many as you like from now until 30 days AFTER the launch of Going Rogue. I will pick the COH winner when that comes out... however, and this is a big however. If I like certain parts of your redesign enough to include them in the final one I chose. That is to say the final is missing one or two things that someone else used, I will do a headshot for the pieces in other designs that I include in the final.
_______________________________
So there it is... if you fancy on joining, I welcome any input, especially on each other's designs. I will add the COH and DCUO links to this thread, once I copy and paste this...
I thank all of you in advance, and look forward to your thoughts.
Oh duh, all the art I give out for these contests, 3 for sure, and possibly 5 more, as I consider elements to be:
1) Body
2) Boots
3) Gloves
4) Mask
5) Miscellaneous
anyway, all the art will be done in my new digital paint style. So if you've ever wanted a digital painting of your own character, here's a chance to get one for free. I do reserve the right to refuse a ridiculously elaborate character - I'm not gonna draw Optimus Prime or any known published properties.
Here is her old look: 1, 2, 3, and 4
Her other powers are flight and that she has the experience and mind set of a woman born in 1940, but the body of a 27 year old swimmer/supermodel/female body builder. She is taught, not rippling, feminine not on steroids. Think She Hulk, think Wonder Woman, think Big Barda, think Giganta, but not 30ft tall.
Edit: Color Paletter, NO red and yellow together please. Hair Length is LONG.
Okay any questions write me here, or in those COH/DCUO threads. I will be omitting those sections from their respective places... you can apply to all 3 contests, but only 1 overall winner will be picked from each place. Thanks again. -

Thank you Cam and LG... here's a sneak peak at the piece I am working on today... Gray Wolf gifted me with a piece for myself, but I have yet to finish it. It was probably one of the first in this new style, but I just didn't have the confidence to finish it. Now I do though... so this is the lower half, SMALL portion of the action, the LARGER section will be forth coming, probably tomorrow! Click to see larger version on DA.

Quote:Creativity is subjective. Have you watched tap dancing in any shape or form being done to modern music. It's like watching retarded hip hoppers... or old white people dancing, well to anything... *oh no he didn't*... whoops sorry for a minute I thought this was Facebook.Quoting CR.. "oh snap"...
*Thinks*
Wait-aminute and pulls a longshot.
Drawings of our Coh-Characters are made and posted, so... they promote creativity?
Crap I'm gonna get red carded for that one! This would be funnier as a City of Nuts strip... -
I just realized this falls under the new heading of only talking about Fanart related to COH, your birthday unfortunately is not covered by that stipulation. I will have to remove any signs of happiness from this thread before Moderator12 sees this... that is all... carry on.

I hate it when forum family fights.
Run Video people, run!
-
left you a crit on DA... fun stuff, I like the painterly textures in the Sassy piece.
-
Thanks CR!
As for the eyes, after showing me his inspiration, I wanted the eyes to look more like his... the first version, I thought you had chosen those pointy spike eyes from the costume creator... but I like them brighter.
As for the tweaking, the original sketch was done with a 10=40% opacity brush over white on a separate layer. So the whites of the costume are just empty over the white background. To darken it, I had to select the entire shape of the figure with the lasso tool, then fill it with a deep gray, in order for the white NOT to show through...
Hope that makes sense? I also fixed one of the feet, elongated him a little, sharpened up the edges and did a layer of painting touch ups for shiny parts. In the past I would have drawn all of this with a blue "pencil" layer, inked that to black, flatted the whole thing and THEN rendered it. I am finding this "concept art" painted look much more satisfying... also this one's giving me courage to do the Kobolt one.
And a Jackalynn vs LJ piece that is about 40% done. Baby steps...
LJ -
LOL good thing, cause I was just about to send it... here ya go, I tweaked him a bit.
-
Ah that's cool, I get it now... I will send it to you tomorrow, sorry, on the wife's laptop now, and the file is asleep on my pc in my studio. Glad you like the drawing.
-
You'll need slightly better screens or a detailed description of the costume. It would also help to know the archetype and power sets. He looks like a martial artist off hand, ah never-mind I googled "tokusatsu"...
EDIT: best I could do on short notice... not bad for 76 minutes
Edit #2: send me your email, so I can send you the large version, here is an actual detail of the head...
-
Quote:Thank you Fox and Thornster, here are some Wips of my latest piece, in progress as we speak... I'sa little scared of it, but ya gotta face your fears. This is of course old forum member Kobolt, one of those iconic people I've always wanted to draw. There's just too many of you!Great job LJ! And I agree with Juggy ... progress shots are always fun!
-
Thank you sir. And thank you VexXxa and Juggy. Okay off to send you the large version.

Looks kind of Chibie like... I would love to see a big group shot...
