I'd still call it NSFW. At least where I work...
People tend to frown on that much cleavage
Very cool piece.

My mother in law just returned from Vegas, and according to her everyone seems to enjoy THAT much cleavage... -
Just trying out a new coloring style in Painter X... about an hour's worth of fun. Sorry no idea when I'm gonna finish, as I am so swamped at the moment... definitely after this big group of 20-30, I will be taking a self imposed break for me...
Anyway, here's the WIP... basically this was "pencilled" on one layer with a grainy pencil tool, then colored with digital watercolor on another layer, then touches of felt marker over that on another layer... and in between a 20% soft eraser to do touches here and there. Kind of making it up as I go along...
It's almost there. Anyway hope you like it Gaderath...

You would have to ask Juggy directly... some people can just redraw their own work with lightning speed...

Interesting, his style is sort of in-between Juggertha and Celtic Bolt. Not that I like the general tendency to categorize everybody oversimply...

I respectfully disagree. I think it borders closer to a beefed up Timm Style, check out his dark phoenix and notice the advanced anatomy on the ribcage in his version of Acoustic...
He does share Juggy's fondness of repeating poses, but the coloring is definitely more animation, no black lines... instead he uses flesh colored outlines around the face and skin, or color matching outlines for costumed parts. That's strictly an Animator's characteristic.
Here's what he has to say about his favorite artists from his profile:
"Ryan Ottley, Dave Johnson, Cory Walker, Landron, anybody cartoony and detailed at the same time!!"
No offense to to Juggy or CB, but their styles are very distinct, CB reminds me of old war time posters, he has that retro feel, and Juggertha is a forum icon.

nicely done... you made the armor look human.

Congrats... but you can type LJ for short... it's easier on the carpal tunnel.
Glad you like your piece, will have to color it sometime. -
could also be a read receipt waiting to be clicked... i hate those.

I'll go... but I am notoriously bad at remembering, so please send me a reminder...

Id imagine as your a drawing machine , I sometimes wonder what I could accomplish if I stepped away from the game ....but then Dragonberry starts crying for attention and she has the most annoying whine

Actually I managed to do both for a while, but then RL through my queue off, and I had to take a 2 month break, by the time I caught up, my queue tripled, and now I have no free time... or very little.
I find I am addicted to facebook, my new online game!
So if any of you need yet another online friend, add me under my real name... found in my DA journal. -

I'm quite happy to say John and I have bonded as countrymen, as artists, and because of COH as subject matter in our work... he is a very giving person, and always worth commissioning for the quality of his pieces. Funny how DA brings the world closer?
-
Yipes! Okies, good to know you'll be on DA... I will finish up those pieces I promised ya before your bday...
Does this mean we won't see you on Champions Online? -
Actually she's there to take your first class drink order... no seriously anything you want, I can get it...
-
Very nice, love the getting ready one....

No, Crime Noir uses deep shadows for mood, but sometimes you can loose the expression with too much black. Just a few lines to indicate facial structure will restore that expression or hint at it... I could do a comparison, but only if Blood requests it.
Edit: oh that other book is - How to Draw Noir Comics: The Art and Technique of Visual Storytelling .... by Shawn Martinbrough -
Faved, desktopped! The wife's Mac laptop is now Shulerfied!
-
Love this style, which is called Crime Noir... have 2 great books on it, one by Chris Hart, and the other author I forget. But love that deep shadow look. Nicely done, though I would go in on a separate layer and play with some thin white line work for contrast...
-
nicely done... is it finished? or will it rotate even more?
-
I try to work in this method: clients first, then freebies if any, and then what I feel like last, sometimes ... and this is per given day, not period of the queue I just DO what I like, though usually that is after the client...
I use to work on nothing but clients, but that really burnt me out.
edit: also working on other stuff keeps me fresh for when I do, work only on clients for that day... sometimes when it's the weekend, you really just want to draw what might inspire you if anything... also I don't like owing free drawings, that is to say if I promised free art to someone, I make every effort to give that gift in between client work. -
Welcome... hope you get lots of takers!
