Yeah Goat, no offense on the non filter thing, it's just to me, you're this close, why not go one step further. Here is a massive collection of coloring tutorials, inspirational pieces, and info that I've collected over the past 4 years on DA, I hope some of it is useful for you...

Paintshop Photo Pro, which just used to be called Paint Shop Pro, is a great first time program. Yes, cheap as all get out, but not cheap on abilities, customization and fun. I'd recommend it as if I remember right, it can do some vector as well as raster work.

Quote:Well I have 4 definites on my list: 2 surprise gifts (given by Gray Huntress/Wolf) then jackalyn and kobolt, also the 3 figure forumite piece, which kind of scares me... but other than that, I'm not sure I know what I will do. Which brings to mind, would you like something for your next Hero Dawner that hits a million prestige? I know you seem to have a gig with Twizded Soul, but perhaps I could color it, or you'd allow me to jump in on a 1 timer?Very nice, keep up the great work.
Can't wait to see what you do next.
Let me know.

How old is junior again? And why does he keep drawing that car battery?

Quote:Auto Desk Sketchbook Pro was a lot of fun, I played with the trial. I've also used Art Rage and Open Canvas and recommend both. Wow haven't seen Dogwaffle in ages, we knew the guy who created it, and he gave us a free sample when it first came out. Was passable if I remember... Also there is SAI, which was a lot of fun to try.I use Photoshop (got it when I had more money than I have now)
(of these others, I haven't played with them - although I heard some pretty good recommendations for AutoDesk SketchBook Pro)
I did a little searching, found a few others - then found this site that covers 11 apps: an "overview of 11 Digital Painting programs"

AutoDesk SketchBook Pro 2010 (~$85-100 ?)

Pixarra TwistedBrush Pro Studio - looks like $89 until May 31st

ArtRage by Ambient Design - looks like ArtRage Studio Pro is $80

openCanvas 4.5+ (6800 Japanese yen ??)

PD Pro Digital Painter ("Project Dogwaffle" ??) ($89 ??)

He really is just a pile of scrap metal and wires? TA is a car battery... but I saw this yesterday and rather liked it, keep it up!

I'd check out ebay for older versions of Photoshop, make sure you check the buyer thoroughly... We had bought a $200 version of Illustrator for the Mac, and then upgraded to CS3, it was much cheaper than buying the whole thing from scratch. I believe Photoshop 7 or 8 is compatible with CS - CS3.

Quote:Lol, um I guess it's a combination of looking at more inspirational work.LJ, I don't know exactly at what point your talent evolved into a higher level, but my gosh, it definitely has!! Keep cranking them out, you are definitely in tuned with your skills!
And while most people say it's not the tools, sometimes the tools DO help.
I've recently upgraded to an Intuos 4 and Photoshop CS5.
Thanks for noticing the output.
And now back to our regularly scheduled program, this one goes out to my new friend, Manoa: click for larger version.

I would use a 5 pixel feather on the lasso tool, select the area of the sky widely, that you want to blend, and erase at about 20% slowly till it fades.

I agree with what's been said about the bevels, I used them as well when I was first learning, they get to be a crutch, and no offense to you, but they become a bad habit, and it makes you lazy to learn other ways of doing it. I hope you don't mind but I had some fun with your pencils, which I concur with Suichiro, stand on their own.

Thanks guys...
Added one more at the top, Dead West, a first timer to the art forum, who asked me fairly politely for a commission, to which I had to say I'm booked. But as a "newb" gift to him, I told him I would send something his way eventually.
Hope you like it DW, and yes he gave me carte blanche to redesign the gun. -
Danke, I realize now they're 3 completely different coloring styles, GM is usually the way I work. EF I almost never do, as sometimes I don't care for cuts... and DT was a go with the flow drawn in an hour thing from start to finish. I could ink it, rework it, but I think it's fine as is... here is the bare line drawing:

Thought I would post some recent stuff here:

Demon Trix
Enlightened Falcon

you gotta relink me some screenies CR, I found that snippet from my original portrait done months ago... unless you like having robotic feet. So what's her AT again? She's a dark defender? I like the idea of summon behind him, I could do that in shadow, might look cool.
