  1. Most welcome, ShadowWings. I had fun with it, getting the characters to look to scale when Shade is so big was challenging and I enjoyed it.

Thank you, Kheld. I am glad to be back!
  2. Just a little visit to the Facemaker and my hair can be any colour I want, within certain Paragon Studio graphic capability limitations.
  3. Whew, made it back with a brand new computer and new graphics tablet and a new sketch to show for it.

    Colours/ edits/ updates coming soon!
  4. Turns out it was the Motherboard and the relation to City of Villains issue 19 was minor or coincidental.

Thank you anyone who looked over the thread and offered advice.

    I appreciate it very much.
  5. Yes. I updated graphics card, audio, firefox, windows and ran Ccleaner and went through regedit for anything blatantly wrong.

That's when CoHelper started working for me. After I did all the updates.

  8. I play in full screen mode and my OS is Windows XP.

I wish I remembered the specs of this computer. I had it built back in 2007 by the tech guys at the computer repair place I worked.

It hasn't skipped a beat until right now.
  9. "it wasn't an instant shut down"

Wow, that is sounding really similar to what happened with me. Other than that 1 time I did a system restore it did take 5 minutes pretty consistently.

    /eyes her keyboard suspiciously.
  10. CoHelper is a dud on my computer thus far, unfortunately. Same with attempting to install the framework.

Hijackthis I am thankfully familiar with and have already.
  11. Sadly I attempted the CoHelper, following the stickied guide at the top of the forum and got nothing but errors. Attempted to install the suggested framework, got nothing but errors from that too.

  12. I'm having rather tricky problem and I'm out of ideas on how to fix it, so turning here. Perhaps someone else has had this problem and will know how to advise me.

When I am playing City of Villains and I alt tab my computer turns off within 5 minutes.

There is no graphics glitches or any other indication anything is wrong. It all works perfectly, right up until my computer turns off.

I've replicated the issue with City of Villains as the only program running. When I hit alt tab to access my desktop, without anything else running, the computer turned off.

Normally I would think this is a power supply issue but its only started occurring since issue19 and it only occurs when City of Villains is running.

I ran the computer for 8 hours yesterday with Firefox, itunes, Adobe photoshop and yahoo messenger and no problems. Again this morning for about 6 hours. Again, no problems.

So far I have tried a system restore to back to a point in time where the problem wasn't occurring. That fixed it for about an hour, then the problem started happening again.

I tried verifying all files on the City of Villains loader, but that didn't help either.

My computer isn't overheating, I checked that and everything is securely plugged in with no signs of corrosion on any of the parts.

I have now tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game and that did not help.

My keyboard was damaged yesterday and spazzed out by a cat leaping onto said keyboard and then jumping on it several times in fright before I pulled her off.

Someone suggested that my keyboard might have been set up to turn off the computer on the alt key. Its a cheapo qwerty keyboard, no special functions and I used alt tab constantly, not just when I'm in City of Villains. Alt tab is my usually method of navigating programs and the shut down only occurs when City of Villains is loaded, so I'm not sure if there is any viability to that suggestion.

Any assistance in the matter will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.
  13. Sorry to sound newbish but, what is "a dxdiag" ? Do I need to download something or is it an ingame thing?

Tidbit: was your son having the problem only occasionally? I was using the alt tab function to get between my other programs when CoV was not running and didn't have the problem but my keyboard did have a giant spaz attack yesterday and a couple other keys are messed up so I am viewing it as a possibility.

Just wondering if its something that occured only occasionally for your son, as it is happening for me, or if it was every time he used the alt key.

To everyone, thank you for the responses. I shall go and find the tech support forum. I didn't know there was one =)

  15. New picture in the works. Inks so far for LoveDie, minus her wings, which I am still undecided if I want to include.

  16. Oh, yeah. Should totally be able to /em menace them for that too!
  17. An amusing idea, although one unlikely to ever be implemented for political correctness reasons:

Beating up Citizens who give you attitude, aka refusing to talk to you because you're not a hero.

I'm talking about the ones that tell you useful things when you get close to them, as seen here: http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Civilian_NPCs

As a Rogue on the Hero side, the Citizens ignore me, which is a mild inconvenience at most to the game itself but got me to thinking.

If a super powered person of sketchy moral fiber came up to you and asked for the time, would you really ignore them?

It would be funny if you could menace the citizen into giving you an answer. Either by use of a /em menace command or an application of the brawl power.
  18. *sighs wistfully* Ah, Nightcrawler. My first and most enduring comic book crush. Chicks dig da fuzzy elf!

    As for Tier 2's, hmmmm.

Quicksilver, Vision, Ant Man all spring to mind. These are characters that have all been in the comic books a long time. Decades, in fact, but the majority of non comic book readers aren't going to recognise their names the way they would Spider Man or Iron Man.

I agree with whoever feted Daredevil as a Tier 2 as well. Also Winter Solider or Nick Fury for the men.

For the ladies? Scarlet Witch, Tigra, any X-woman that isn't Jean Grey or Emma Frost. She-Hulk.

    For DC.

Blue Beetle or Booster Gold for sure. I love those guys but they don't have that instant recognition the was Superman or Batman does.

Green Arrow and Green Lantern are too high profile right now with Smallville and the upcoming movie to be Teir 2's. Please note I said "right now" no doubt that'll change in the future when Hollywood gets sick of mutilating their origins.

Jon Stewart, Martian Manhunter, Deathstroke. I think they'd be fun to base a character off.

Female DC..... any female other than Wonder Woman, really. RemusShepherd had a point about Diana that I completely agreed with. I'm a Wonder Woman fan and I still have to agree.
  19. No problem, Shadow. Whenever you get the chance, no rush =)
  20. Ah, as I feared, this is the only Elf picture I have handy still.
  21. Thank you, ShadowWings and I think I can manage that, Neko, let me go see whats still lurking around on my photobucket. Otherwise feel free to drop me a request at Facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=820205600 and you'll find the rest of the "candy/ christmas" shoot as well as the elf pictures under the folder "Gunslinger Photography"
  22. "Yeah, my girlfriend was the photographer, so the photoshoot had a big bonus in the end"

That is awesome, Neko, having a photographer on hand like that. The candy shoot was actually taken by my then casual/ when it was convenient etc girlfriend (think friends with benefits)

I would have liked to have done more shoots with her before we both moved on but only managed 2, the other being fully clothed as an Elf.

"The guy who was "Statesman" Jack Emmert is gone from the company and went to go work on that "other game" so if you want to draw him ... getting his nose batted about by Amerikatt etc I say go for it! "

Personally I don't much care who Statesman was or wasn't outside of City of Villains. As my main, LoveDie exists solely in the online pixel world she knows only of the pixel version of Statesmen.

"((I love your artz, Lady LoveDie!))"

Thank you, Amerikatt, I appreciate that ^_^
