Lackluster

I have a SM/Shield at 37 that I made more for concept, but he's actually surprised me quite a bit. Shield Defense is a bit on the squishy side for brutes, but the mitigation in Stone Melee picks up the survivability quite a bit. He isn't squishy at all

AR does work exceptionally well with storm, but there is a caveat: you have to know how to leverage your storm powers to best benefit your cones. It also helps to have a playstyle where the player doesn't necessarily NEED to use all of there powers. Storm is a tool box full of sky-splitting primal badassery, but you have to use the right power in the right situation.

My AR/Storm is 45 and typical encounters wind up with me using my positioning tools (Gale, Hurricane, Snowstorm) to put mobs together (usually in a corner), Freezing Rain to soften them up, and then Ignite, Flamethrower, Full Auto. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Now, I can't always do exactly that on every team, but then I don't really have to. Freezing Rain, Snow Storm and my cones usually get the job more than done on fast moving teams.

Fire/Psi is one of the major farming builds on villainside. With permadom, fire imps, and mind probe, I don't see bosses being much of an issue for that particular build. Spam PSW while focusing your ST firepower on the boss and I could see that being very profitable.

Hell, I'm not a farmer in the least, but I'm thinking of testing with my fire/psi to see how it goes.

Right off the top of my head I can tell you theat Ice Mistral is about to get the Katie Hannon treatment redside. Do the math: CoT set for 4 people in a large cave map? Hell, I'm not a farmer in the least, but that's even got my PSW itchy.

All valid points Icarium. I particularly liked the +regen idea.

12.5% recharge is pretty nice, but its alot harder to find a spot to put a steadfast protection: +def on a bot/traps than it is to put a LotG +recharge. If you chose to 6 slot, you could still get 5% recharge out of a resistance shield (5 slot bonus with Impervious Skin + steadfast: +def), that is, if you really wanted to.

I don't see why you couldn't IO for recharge and also benefit from this slotting. Hell, with my build currently I have FFGen, Maneuvers, Vengeance, Grant Invis, and Combat Jumping I can throw LotG: +recharge into. That doesn't even get into Purple sets if you really want to get pricey. Point is, there is so much recharge in the way of set bonuses out there I don't think slotting this way will kill your recharge opportunities.

Not to mention, this whole thread is about AV killing, and for my money, I'll take all the layered mitigation I can get. Res, Def, Regen...its all good

I have to agree on Scirocco being the better patron to go with for bot/traps. On my bot/traps I went with Scorpion and now I'm kicking myself. With Scorpion I get the nice shield to stack with my defense, but with Scirocco, I get some nice resistance that is perfect for a Steadfast Protection +Def IO. You get layered mitigation and you still get to stack more defense. Add in the AoE comparison (Scirocco's has -kb, scorpion doesn't - an easy pick with bots/ ), and Scirocoo is the winner in my book.

Scorpion is a close second, but for bot/traps, my money is on Scirocco

And on the subject of Tex-Mex:
The best I've had is a little family run resturant right off of Military Drive just outside of Lackland AFB in San Antonio called Garibaldi's (think I'm spelling that right). Fairly authentic without the blandness.
In H-town there is a chain called Gringo's (aptly named) that's a pretty good sampling of Tex-Mex. They even went all out this summer and added a creation called 'Pulled Pork Quesadillas' that is out-freakin-standing

I hear ya GA! I was the MA/DA scrapper (yes we exsist at lvl 50 ) on your team tonight.

We smoked all of the patrons up to GW, as GA said. GW was just rediculous. We had a really well balanced team, good tactics, a few folks with knowledge of the TF, and commitment from everyone that we'd finish. I really thought it was in the bag tonight. All of a suddon, we come up against an opponent where, not only were certain ATs not helpful (the melee folks), they actually *hindered* the encounter. I thought we had taken notes from the LRSF, no?

Bottom line, I had a blast up until then. It was challenging, and pretty comical at points, but GW needs to be toned down a tad. I wont even mention her PBAoE hold that was holding our tanks through their mez protection *and* their tier 9's...well I guess I just did

So, yeah 2k heals + crazy mag hold = sit this one out melee, you're only going to hurt your team for even being here.
