Great job all...and thanks to the Devs for offering such a fun, interactive event to us players.
And to address this:
[ QUOTE ]
Honestly Im gonna give my most honest opinion here, unlike the sheep that just say "GRATS UR TEH BEST" and actually have nothing informative to say.
I think I speak for many that will remain quiet about the situation when I see that the winner of the costume contest didnt really deserved best hero overall. When you look at the detail and colors Komic Kitten selected and or found, you can see who the real winner is. And no before I get any tail bitters, I dont know Kitten never played with her nor have i met or ever will meet. All that aside in MY honest opinion she had more detail and honestly a better look. The contest winner chose black and pink... the most simplest color combination for women since Clueless the movie. I have spoken to quite a few people and while they do agree she deserves to be part of the list, she doesnt deserve best overall. Its good to see the Devs are as clueless as people who pick Cow Costumes as winners in the game. If you dont like my post fine your entitled to your own opinion, just dont bother posting back at me as I will ignore you. For those who have a solid reason/opinion to why you think Cutest little hero should have one by all means do post. also for those who think anyone else deserved it, please post up.
Again I dont care what you think of me or my opinion, just post your own.

We're not electing the president here...and we know how THAT can go.
You do not speak for many, you speak for yourself, just as I and every other person here does. You are entitled to your opinion, but yours is as valid as someone who disagree's with you, no more then that.
This was for fun, let's keep it in perspective, shall we? -
Go go, fellow Villian lovers!
*big sloppy kiss, followed by a lovable slap*
No get outta mah way!
edit:....not you personally BaBs... -
Take a deep breath and count yer lucky stars.
Glad all are okay.
Sexy Jay, lots of coffee! Or hot, decadent chocolate!
Thus why I, cannot abide an otherwise wonderful state....bubye Cali! -
After tooling around with several different MM' and just losing interest, I finally got smart and went with what I love and know, which is /dark. Chose Necro for the good synergy.
Stumbled upon this guide, perfect timing.
Being still a 'newb' when it comes to this AT, I think this guide is gonna be very useful as I agree with the 'role' of this particular set build.
Now I just need to go sift through some good MM macro/binds.
Thanks.
... and yep...those zombies are dumber then burnt toast. -

Good luck to those guys with their lawsuit, but I doubt much of anything will happen, being one, those guys bringing the suit are doing it out of pocket, two, the people they are suing have their own legal team, and wording in their own terms of services that are there as a way to cover their behinds. Imagine it as a Hami raid, but with only 8 people, we all know how it's going to end. Besides I imagine once X amount of dollars are spent, and nothing is being accomplished the lawyer in this case will cut his losses, and bail. Let me put it in perspective for you, as to how big this is, and how much money these people have: one of the smaller businesses, not gonna say who, because I imagine it's against rules to post names in posts, but they boast over 30, 000 customers, and at $15 a pop(minimum purchase) daily that would be $450,000, this particular company has been around for a few years. Given these numbers, which is just a rough estimate for one day's worth of business, and little to no cost adverstising, these people have more than enough money to fight this. That's just from in-game currency sales alone, I haven't even touched the Pay to level services they offer, which varies from game to game, but isn't cheap. This is just an example based off a small company, so imagine how much money the company that's the defendant in said suit has.

It isn't people who have used the service that are suing - it's the people who are having their entertainment messed with by a company that is violating a game's EULA themselves.
[u]A company isn't protected one bit by having a ToS agreement if they are harassing people that are not using their service.[u]
[/ QUOTE ]
What I bolded is the real issue...
Basically, you have a company, (IGE) or at least its representatives, going into a game (CoH, Wow) and in essense 'advertising' their service to ANOTHER COMPANIES CUSTOMERS by using that other companies own product to do it, no less.
The game gets nothing out of this 'backdoor' marketing, in fact, they proclaim 'Zero Tolerance', and now their customers are p*ssed-off and demanding that this junk stop.
THEY DON'T PAY TO BE MARKETED TO BY A THIRD PARTY. THEY PAY TO PLAY THE GAME.
There is some serious issue with having another comany use your existing customer base for their personal 'call list' as it were.
They don't call you on the phone, they dont' spam you with email, they send 'tells' in a game..but it's the same thing.
Sure, we all know companies like IGE have oodles of cash, and probaby a team of lawyers (so does 'Blizzard', 'WotC', etc, I imagine, if they decided to get serious and step into the ring)...but IGE is violating another companies Terms of Agreement when they seek to advertise their service to ANOTHER companies customers, and 'ruin their gaming experience' as it were.
The more I think about it, the more surprised I am that this hasn't come to serious legal ramifications before now.
"The times they are a-changin'" -
Legal Action?
Against what? Annoying the customer base?
-I went looking to answer my own question and that answer is Yes!- Plaintiff's Attorney in Player-IGE Lawsuit Speaks to the Escapist -the link there Hernandez v IGE goes into more depth.
Quite the endeavor!
Personally, I remember this stuff back in the days of playing MUDS like Dragonrealms/Gemstone (when it was still free), more then seven years ago, this was happening. Perhaps it is something so unique, that, as that lawyerman said, customer advocates and the like aren't even really aware of it.
I have to give Kudos to Ebay for not allowing this type of 'selling', and quite frankly am surprised that they made such a decision.
The only reason CoH has been relatively free of such spam (even though the 'leveling your character to 50 for a fee has been around for awhile) is because there has been no 'loot', except for Hami's.
NOW though...we're starting to feel the pain that other games have been dealing with for many years.
Unfortunatly, the real fact is that if we don't take the time to petition, (even if it is a pain in the behind) there isn't much they can do, and even THEN, they have to treat these 'spammers' with the same policy they would you or me in determining to ban or not to ban.
Either that takes a couple days to determine,
OR
There are far more spammers being reported then we are aware of, and thus perhaps creating a back-log to sort through, if you will.
OR
Some third, other thing...
I'm kinda rambling about it, will have to keep an eye on that IGE lawsuit though.. I guess I'm strangly used to this sort of thing, though I've never liked it, I'm over the outrage of it.
I report them, as I always have in any other game, and move on...
...just wait til they start using the mailing system!
Okay, moving on... -
...I've just read the OP, none other...
Saying that,
Unlockable contacts need to be AT LEAST more indicated about, hinted about, stronger then they are now indeed...IF they are hinted about as an actual 'puzzle solving before you get contact'.
My 38 corruptor has not specifically set out to 'Unlock any contact', though I know she has, it is of little consequence.
I think maybe that is a problem?
Well, it's not a problem, it's always an option, with the bonuses of these mission, etc.
...Yet...
Let there be a far better indicator that there are Unlockable COntacts....
Let it be better known in SOME way HOW to unlock these contacts....
Let their perhaps be some 'bonus' mission, even just one with nice exp, reward for COMPLETING an unlockable contact ARC, if there is one.
Many are so UNAWARE of even this feature, and when they DO become aware, they are already outleved of that contacts reach....
...it's a waste then. You cannot blame some for being unaware, especially if their is no true 'indicator' of these contacts even being available as some 'extra feature'.
Not even 50% of players read the boards...it should not be a penalty to the many who never do, to never get the full info of what is available to them.
Some people need more 'indicators' then others, so be it, so be it. -
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
/goes to sulk in a corner -
My FF Defender at 50 has had Leadership (Manuvers/Tactics) for several levels.
Manuvers Six slotted <My bubbles don't add any Psi protection, and Manuvers helps with this a bit, plus adds to MY defense, along with the team, since I cannot bubble myself>
Tactics Six Slotted <My team DEFINATLY notices the improvement to their Accuracy, as do I>
With the changes to Assault on I4 now on test, giving Defenders a bonus of approx 18.5%, and Controllers 15% to damage output for the team, within it's radius CHECK this thread on it. I may truly think about picking it up at some point.
No comment on Vengance as I have never had it...Nemesis Lt.'s seem to love it, if you notice though, heh. Funny thing with them, is that it works opposite as it does for us, they give it to nearby mobs when THEY die, instead of 'casting' it on a fallen comrade.
It can be a GREAT powerpool especially since it can STACK with others who have it, doubling it's efficiancy, not sure how many times stackable, but at LEAST twice if I am not mistaken.
I have to say, I rarely run into another who has it, but when I do....very nice indeed.
All n all, I will never get rid of it. I like it, some do not. -
I love it! Thanks for starting this Lus!
Emotes sometimes are greatly ignored, dust them off and use them!
Tried the 'emoting firing a bow'...as a FF/Eng defender, I have no weapon...but have the Crey Pistol..works for that as well, heh.
Fire it when not targetting a mob, do the 'fancybow' emote...yep, when timed right, I was 'plucking a bow'. -
First, thanks very much for this guide!
Second, question about 'Dominate' from the Psy line.
How efficient is this power used against Arch-Villians, if anyone has tried this.
Thanks. -

Hehe... try /em yoga it's not much but it is somthing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually /em kneel is marginally better, but both are still making me sit down like a guy would, and are still making me flash the room.
Devs, if you are by any chance reading this ... when girls sit down there is no risk of anything getting wedged in, so in general we tend to sit down with our legs closed. Especially so if we're wearing a skirt shorter than knee length... I am sure this is an extremely minor change that could be made to the one or two sit poses.
Pretty please? *making extra big, cute girly anime style eyes*
[/ QUOTE ]
I dunno about better sitting positions, lots of us have been begging for that for a long time. But, in keeping with "anime-inspired" additions in U4, I vote for /em making-extra-big-cute-girly-anime-style-eyes. Not that my scrapper would ever stoop to doing that. Heavens no.
She already has a ton of influence already. Now, my peacebringer...

Like I need more half naked school girls and cat girls running around in the game. I've already got enough of those to make me literally ill considering the fact that I know pretty much all of them are men. This is somehow a positive thing?

If it wasn't premature you couldn't smugly claim precognitive knowledge of what is undoubtedly going to happen when it releases...
And really I'd love to have a flashback to all the pre-I3 apocalyptic talk and dire prognostications, just to see how much of it was really justified.
I guess such threads are just inevitable.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the other hand, I didn't have much bad to say about I3 in total. I was concerned where Invulnerability was going to go but I didn't have much to say about it because I stopped tanking last year after the provoke nerf.
I3 mostly looked pretty good to me, even the invuln changes looked like they could be good....other than Invincibility's total loss of ranged defense. So I didn't have much to say about it other than "Wow, I left 7 months ago and you were balancing tankers, I come back and you're still balancing tankers...what a game."
I don't doom cry as a rule. This isn't what I'd call doomsaying, because I don't think I4 will be bad at all. I'm just concerned that we're going to be dissapointed with the costume options is all. I personally have a ton of costume stuff I want, if you want my opinion the efforts of an entire content update should go into upgrading and improving the entire character creation system...I4 seems to take a step in that direction, but the step seems sort of...tenative. Body scaling is a good thing, new costumes is a good thing...but the entire system is already good...it needs to be focused on and taken to the point of absolutely outstanding.
[/ QUOTE ]
"Focused on and taken to the point of absolutely outstanding" to quote Backagain...
I'll take that....and it really believe it will come....
Online gaming has hit a sophistication that outshines anything before...and IF the ability for 'complete' Character creation is available...players will flock to that game simply to be able to do so...whether they play or not....a different story.
Cryptic has some sharp tacs working for them....it MUST be a consideration if the wish for CoH to be in actuality five years from now.
Humans love the visual..and what is more visual then the 'me' factor? Ohhh....there I AM! Perfection...*sigh* Silly? maybe...true? Yes Virginia...there is a Visual Clause. -
O I too understand the frustration...
Some of my female toons wish for long, flowing skirts, or at least long robes, which methink, males would like as well..or other clothing that flows, shimmers, tickes with feathers, whatever...
Eh, but...CoH still has offered me what others NEVER have, the ability to use my mind, my imagination in creating my VISUAL, moving, ingame Heroines....even if they fall short, they still are reaching for their true image.
I really, really believe, as I stated before, that Cryptic understands this most powerful need for us to be able to control our heroes/villians down to the very SOCKS she or he wears. Please the customer, the customer will never leave a good thing. Can they deliver? Someone will...
It rather thrills me to witness the beginning of this ability. -
I for one..and a VERY important one at that, THINK...*ehem* My goodness, self-importance reigns, eh?
Well, really..for me CoH has offered so far, the very best 'Character Creation' I have ever used.
Anything they add to the process is just a plus for me, whether I like it right now, whether I actually hate it now, but may use it in the future, whether I NEVER use it...whatever...it's still another opportunity for diversity, which to me, simply has no equal.
I am sure that Cryptic knows fully WELL how very much we desire even more options, and that further options will be released.
Anime? So be it, lets see what it is and if it offers anything useful.
If not, we can at least all
Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls.*
*All in the mind, all in the mind....*taps head*
*waves hand* you may continue the arguing...I find it amusing. -
It was already said, had to have been! If not *gasp*
That timeless act of, well...baring your bottom.
You turn, pretend to pull your pants down and wiggle it for all it's worth...rather like that NFL player during the play-offs, heh.
Edit: And I want a nail file. my villian loves her fingernails, and she loves to lounge and file them while peering over her glasses at that silly fool of a Hero squirming in his spandex. -
[ QUOTE ]
imo id like to see these as a resistance insperations to make you more resistance not just wake up from the effect.
just my two cents
[/ QUOTE ]
It already exists, thats what the Disipline/Strenght of Will/Iron Will <low to high resist> inspirations are for. It does not wake you though, makes you resistant to all the holds for 30/60/120 seconds. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Ah - one more thing. We're adding a new Inspiration that you can use to wake up from Sleep, Stun, Hold & Immobilize.
Yep - so if you're stunned, wobbling back and forth - you can use this Inspiration and WHAMMO - you're ready for action.
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman - FWIW, I'd rather see more defender/controller types have access to Clear Mind, or a similar ability, than to create these inspirations. I fear that these will only help discourage grouping. Maybe even buff Stimulant from the Medicine power pool to include similar functionality.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree completly! Allowing more access for defenders/controllers <the traditional 'buffers/healers> to 'Clear Mind' type abilities would greatly improve this issue without the need of yet ANOTHER inspiration.
Yes I know...
02boost
Dispersion bubble, <does not protect against sleep>
etc.
I'm a FF defender and still can't wake myself up though
It WOULD, I think, increase the effectiveness in good grouping/tactics as well, both in PvE and PvP, which is never a bad thing, Stimulant does this! but....
Stimulant in Medicine Power Pool can wake up an ally, but not YOURSELF, and is interruptable, NOT a happy thing in combat. A few tweaks to Stimulant so that it can be used on YOURSELF, and not so interruptable in combat <that can be worked out with e's at least> would make this ALREADY EXISTING POWER much more viable!
IF you DO still choose to go the inspiration route (though I think the idea's above are better for good gameplay/tactics)..There was a previous poster who had a very good idea to simply tack this 'wake up' ability onto the already existing Disipline inspirations...PERFECT! People will start using these more, and we wont have to worry about where to fit all our inspirations.
EXAMPLE: So, if you failed to pop a Disipline before a fight.. oops! didn't see that Chief Mentalist and get slept, you can pop a Disipline and not only do you wake up, you also now have a resistance to being slept for 30 seconds! No more being chain slept. Hmm...could be a bit TOO useful, and make people more sloppy in their gameplay instead of promoting better tactics. Maybe not, but it's something to consider.
I'm ALL for ending the dreaded chain sleeping, especially for the soloer, now that I think about it, this is really perfect for the soloer, who has no one around to wake her/him up..(unless they had the 'new improved' Stimulant)... I think more creative solutions should be considered as well, especially to promote <here I go again> learning better gameplay/tactics.
Thank you good Statesman, for addressing this issue. -
Villians who are sophisticated/vain
--Run fingers through that meticulously perfect hair.
--For those Villians a bit myopic, should be able to remove glasses and polish them in a languid, yet perfectionist way, then replace them.<followed of course with the /e read evil plans/scroll/medical journal>
--They need to be able to emote brushing that invisible bit of lint marring their otherwise devilishly stylish suit/costume.
--Pull out a hand-held mirror to straighten tie/hair, put on lipstick, or maybe just make kissy sounds too. <Extreme vanity here>
Every Villian has her/his "Joker-esk' type breakdown. so...
--The before-mentioned running around in a circle with arms held out like an airplane was funny idea.
--The twitch. Thats it, every few moments, until emote is broken by other movement, just stand/sit there and twitch once in awhile.
--Get down on all fours and howl madly to the Moon.
There could be emotes specific to how your costume is...example: Villian Devilish Darla who has horns can polish/sharpen them, Villian Robot Rita can pull out a wrench and start 'tuning' her massive robotic arm. Villian Gunner Gina can clean/polish/load weapon at will.
<sidenote:CoH so far has had the BEST character generator I've thus far experienced, hope the choices keeps growing and growing>
Some VERY good idea's by other so far. This is so fun!
