Blazing Cj was the founder of my supergroup and an all around nice guy. I know that he had military obligations that could take him away from the game for months at a time, which is what eventually led to me being the leader of our SG.
But the problem is, due to a poor choice in internet service providers, I wasn't able to get in contact with anyone in-game for months. When I was finally able to return, the SG rent hadn't been paid in quite a while and Blaze was missing from the group roster.
Since the only other original group member hasn't been on in a month (and our schedules seem to keep us from being on at the same time), I thought I should ask if anyone has had contact with him and what has happened?
As I said, he was a nice guy, so I'm worried about him.
If you're worried about his privacy, you can contact me through a private message or @Broken Key in game.
Edit: Yes, I am aware that the title is misspelled. I'm not immune to making mistakes. But that's hardly the point, now isn't it? -
Quote:Obviously someone needs to do a grocery run for you. Until you've drunk yourself under the table.I've since stopped, by the by. Ran out of BOJ. Which is a shame cause I still got half a bottle of vodka left.
For science, of course. I'm curious how you'll act once really, really drunk. -
Quote:Oh yeah. Being able to set some powersets to FX in PvP Only really opens up some more options. (Namely, I use Invuln for just about any character that uses body armor exclusively.)Aunt Millie exists entirely because of the phrase "Putting the aunt back in taunt aura". I built a little old lady, plaid skirt, polkadot bowtie, argyle sweater. I used invuln because if you set it to "FX in PvP Only" there's simply no indication that there's any particular reason for which this ordinary little old lady is not being significantly damaged. Then I went with dual blades because watching the little old lady do the jumping spinning animation made me laugh.
Quote:Next up, Donnah Matrix ("Donna Matrix" was taken), a mind/emp troller whose background may or may not to be altered to state that, while she was employed in a very respectable profession*, she was bitten by just about everything, giving her all sorts of super powers.[*] It's the oldest profession, therefore respectable by definition.
"I keel you!" "No, you want to kill those guys over there."
"Oh god, it hurts!" "No it doesn't."
...Which might be dragging me off topic. Whoops. -
Quote:For some reason... this one line pushes the entire situation past 'amusing' and straight into 'laugh out loud'. She sounds like a heck of a lady to team with.Aunt Millie: ... Well, as long as you're comfortable with who you are.
On a slightly related note: The super science booster is just a barrel of hilarious situations waiting to happen... -
Quote:You could try something a little more... What's a good word for what I'm going for... Uh, complex, intricate... (I should not post at 7am with no sleep... ) 'Arcane' might be closer. Something a little less obvious or with deeper meaning? Maybe use two words instead of one, to provide more options...Consider my Batman homage. The idea was a grim, dark watcher of the street. His emblem is an eye. I tried so amny variations of Watcher, Watchman, Guardian, Guard, Black, Dark, Night, Moon... you name it. NOTHING was available that fit the theme.
Of course, this is coming for someone with characters named 'Kiana Wolf', 'Broken Key' (I actually make fun of that one in character. It's an easy opening for one of my stoic characters to get embarrassed, too.) and 'MRSA'... So, um... Take my advice with a grain of salt. Or maybe a tablespoon... -

Quote:I wasn't aware that there was a 'Disabled' gender or sex.Being born sterile would make you fall under "Disabled". Old age, and you are still male or female, but passed the sexually abled stage of your life cycle. Finally, in case of surgery, yes, you have been neutered. That's sort of the definition of the term.
-
Quote:How does it make a difference?Sterile how? Old age? Surgery? Born Sterile? It makes a difference.
If they're sterile from old age, does that mean they're not an old man or an old woman, but an old 'neuter'? Would ovarian or testicular cancer, which might require removal of the reproductive organs, make them less of a man or a woman? If they are born sterile, does that mean they'll never be a man or a woman?
Really, now, if you want to argue physical characteristics... Go right on ahead. But please, explain, because I don't understand how it makes a difference. -
Quote:"Reproductive capabilities"...? So what do you think of think of people who are sterile?I try to build flaws into most of my characters. It makes for better roleplay, although in some cases it's really hard to play it straight.
on topic of gender reassignment surgery, personally I find it to be more cosmetic mutilation than an actual change in gender. Not that I judge anyone who wants it or has gone through it. Until there is an actual change from male to female reproductive capabilities (Or the reverse), the subject has just changed from gender x to gender neuter.
EDIT: In addition, it's called 'sexual reassignment surgery' for a reason. Definition wise, 'sex' refers to the physical characteristics, while gender is the mental aspect. So no, there would not be a change in gender from a surgery, only a change in sex. -
Overuse? I'll tell you about over using keyboards: On my old laptop, there were grooves in the keys. I got a tech guy who does all the repairs on my family's computers and he had never seen a keyboard like that before.
-
Wow, that many keyboards? I've never spilled anything on my keyboard. (Though, having a laptop, I'm REALLY careful with it...)
Even though my hands shake terribly... and I'm a light weight... and I have very slippery glasses that I drink rum out of... Never spilled it. Ever.
Might I suggest a really long straw? =P -
Quote:You mean your Algebra teacher's son, right? In Highschool my Algebra's son actually had hormonal imbalances to where he grew bewbs, he was still strait and considered himself so. The only time this would drastically affect someone is when they're still developing in the whom.
And it's 'womb'. (Sorry to go off topic with the grammar Nazi tangent, but... uh... Bad habit of mine?) -
Quote:I was kind of assuming that was implied, but yeah, that's a good idea.Frankly, I'd be for this on one condition: If after the seven or fourteen day pass the player still doesn't reactivate, the names get recycled.
And if they get fourteen free days? That's two weeks for them to get fifteen dollars together, which isn't very difficult. -
Quote:Ooh, I'm a bit guilty of this at times, but I've got a few characters that exist pretty much exclusively to seem not be suave. (Though one happens to be a little kid, so looking suave and smart compared to adults would ruin the immersion!)People love to look suave and smart and like they're on top of things, but it's not really what happens.
Quote:I think the thing is... If you don't want ERP, the solution is not to hint or warn people that you don't want ERP, but to react in-character to the unwelcome in-character advances, if that makes any sense.
[...]
You know what? If the guy had just hit on me in character, it would have been a great opportunity for this character whose costume is designed to scream BOOBS BOOBS BOOBS at you to get all embarassed and explode in fire. Which would have been fun, not creepy.
I've had a couple of situations like that happen to me. My solution? Well, since I was on my excessively snarky toon, I just shot back any smart *** reply I could think of. I'm not sure how the other party felt, but they seemed to be talking in character, so I'm assuming they recognized that I was in character, and thus didn't take it personally...
Quote:[*] Sheesh. Apparently, the word which is short for either "transgendered person" or "transmission" is considered cussing. That's sad. I use this word IRL when talking to such people, and none of them have yet hit me for it, I assumed it wasn't all that offensive.
Well now... That definitely has merit. It marks the character as outside the 'norm', but while remaining vague about it... And should stop anyone that finds abnormal body types to not be their cup of tea from asking about it.
I'm pretty sure any roleplayer worth their salt would be able to do the same. The same roleplayers would also be able to have their characters react negatively, if it fit the character, while still separating in- and out-of-character to be respectful about it. Probably a quick Tell to say they're not comfortable with it, before their character reacts. -

Quote:Yeah, I find that helps me, too.I made a new character on a concept I was toying with a month or two ago and ended up finding the name I wanted right away "Boybot". Names are available, you just have to be creative and I find starting with a concept and working around that concept with vocabulary is a good way to get a name that fits like a glove.
I'm still in favor of a name purge or whatever you want to call it after a suitably long time, but there are still plenty of options out there. -
Now, I don't know if the name had ever been 'purged' or if it was just never chosen to start with... But I decided to try and create a character concept I was toying with for a while. And I was shocked that the name was available.
Keysmith
In all the years of having Stalkers (and, heck, the plain Concealment power pool...) no one ever thought to take an obvious name for a breaking-and-entering type? (Or, in my character concept's case, teleporting-everywhere-and-anywhere type.)
I'm not sure if that means I'm creative or everyone else is being kind of silly... Makes me wonder how many people tried to take 'Locksmith' as a name. -
Not Your Normal Chaos Theory
Arc ID: 478741
You receive a letter from an "S. Wolf" asking you to help find someone. What follows is a hunt for clues while fending off Arachnos agents, Circle of Thorns minions and a low grade cosmic horror.
Throughout, you will slowly discovery how one of Paragon's many super heroes turned to villainy, then came back again.
While it's got a bit of a dramatic streak, I tried to mix in some comedy to keep it a bit lighter.
Despite the first map being a bit large it plays through pretty quick. The story is primarily told through Clues, but I wound up having to have some (minor) info dumps in the contact dialog.
It's safer to play with groups, but it was designed with it being soloing in mind. It's quite possible to solo, if you're prepared. The enemy groups just happen to be a bit debuff heavy, which puts a single character at a disadvantage. The custom enemy group is a little on the weak side, but has an extra little serving of accuracy debuffs.
Part one of what will likely become a three part series. (Not that that has much bearing on the contest... I just might enter the sequels, is all.) -
Quote:I'm going to echo these sentiments completely.Stick with something like intersexed; be clinical. If people don't understand, they'll likely ask and then you'll give them an explanation I assume. I would really, really, really steer clear of terms like 'shemale' - they can be terribly offensive to a lot of people, and are pretty crude in and out of themselves. At best you'll just heavily sexualise the concept which, while possibly intentional, will likely skewer the initial viewpoint people have of you.
As for the disclaimer, I'd personally avoid it. Again, I think it's best that people express an interest by themselves rather than you drawing a line around it. Seems unneccesary to me.
Best to use clinical terms to avoid offending anyone. And, hey, there are plenty of clinical terms, each meaning different things... Y'know, if you ever want to vary the character concept or something. Intersex, hermaphrodite (though that one can rub some people the wrong way, apparently), pre-op transexual, assorted varieties of crossdressers... (Say it with me kids: Biology + psychology = Lots of knowledge on some surprising stuff.) I'm honestly not sure how people will react to those different terms (or the characters using them)... I'm pretty easy going about that sort of thing, so my opinion may be abnormal.
No point in drawing undue attention to it. Personal opinion: It will seem more natural if it just blends in with the rest of the biography. If someone knows what it means, no problem. If they don't know, they can ask. No real loss for either party for not drawing a huge arrow over it.
And as far as ERP itself goes... I'm of the opinion that as long as both parties involve consent, no one else has to hear or know about it and it just generally doesn't interfere in anyone's life, I don't care. Just please, for the love of all that is holy, be very, very, very, very careful with what channel you're talking in, if it comes up in-game.
I previous MMOs I have played, there have been people who have mixed up 'whisper' for 'global'... And while I am easy going about that sort of thing, it was... how shall I put it... Rather shocking. (To this day, I'm still not entirely sure if that person made an honest mistake or if they were trying to troll...) -
Quote:Are you kidding? Those are the best types of names!I am probably not the best example of creativity, though. I have 114 characters, and a large number of them have silly or nonsense names... (Ex: Explomadoza, Dr. Fejwol, Really Angry Man, Elfis Lives, Atomic Lizard-Donkey)
One man's random gibberish is another man's favorite character concept!
Now, I'm probably not the best example of creativity. I usually just recycle my handful of favorite names. Only reason I haven't deleted and recreated my main character is because she was the second one I made. And the first to not die every time she walked outside.
But feel free to ignore my opinion. I'm not in the best state of mind right now. I'm surprised I can hit ctrl+i with any coordination. -
Two years is a pretty good cut off point, I think. Though perhaps only limit it to level 30 and below. (I mean, that is a pretty impressive milestone, for someone who doesn't play too much.)
That's coming from someone who's been away for over a year due to technical troubles and for... I'm not sure how long, for technical troubles again. Somewhere around 200 days, plus a week or three. Way I see it, unless your circumstances are rather out of the ordinary, you should be able to get back in a year...
But, again, two years is a good cut off point. I know players who are in the military and might have to go on a tour of duty for months at a time, so... Yeah.
As far as creative names? I haven't had too much trouble. But then again, I like Norse mythology (where 'creative misspelling' is something of a prerequisite) and I'm a fan of the less commonly used names. Though my favorite ones seem to be getting more popular. I was surprised that Fimbulvetr was taken. Had a fun idea for a tech Ice/Ice Tanker.
And I kind of like the good ol', campy 'Adjective X' types of names, so using those doesn't bug me at all, either... (Though I've made a mental note to avoid using colors as the adjective in question. Limits costume designs too much.) -
Quote:As they should be. There's a fine line between preemptive /ignore-ing and trolling. Posting names and saying 'these guys are ********, block them' falls pretty clearly on the trolling side.Whoever posts the names will likely get reprimanded and possibly banned.
EDIT: Hm, I was not aware that term was considered censor worthy. My apologies for using it. -
Because while plenty of people have a catgirl fetish, Lord Recluse has a spidergirl fetish. Obviously. ;p
-
I haven't run into this specific problem before, lacking any 50s, but I've dealt with similar on occasion. Though it was usually a case of "Sorry, we have plenty of damage dealers/tanks" when I offered to join up, not getting booted after I joined.
My personal policy is just to accept whoever responds in the order they reply. Sometimes I'll add on to my request that we could "Use a controller/defender" or the like, but it's little more then a suggestion. I've seen teams of six Scrappers that could make it through any challenge without much difficulty, after all.
Though I have ignored players who couldn't type a halfway legible request to join the team. Mostly because I've had enough experiences of those types of players also being jerks.
But yeah. They don't want you on the team? Go find someone who doesn't have their head up their butt. -
So I had to switch my ISP... and the new service was horrible. Massive ping, incredibly unstable service. I couldn't even use the updater, let alone play the game.
But I got a new new ISP, which runs decent enough. Far better ping, pretty fast. I'm still going to have to tinker with it to minimize lag, but it's playable.
So to commemorate:
Running around the Rikti War Zone with my Martial/Regen Scrapper was always my favorite hobby. XP
As a bit of a side note: I was really disappointed to miss the Halloween event and the release of issue 19, but I must say that I like the changes issue 19 brought, and I intend to make up for lost time.
